Ｈｏｔｊａｖａ是Ｓｕｎ Ｍｉｃｒｏｓｙｓｔｅｍ公司最新开发的ＷＷＷ信息浏览器。与其它浏览器相比，Ｈｏｔｊａｖａ独有的特征是它增加了可执行的内容。本文介绍了它的工作方式、特征以及其实现机制，并分析了它的发展前景及应用领域。

ＷＢＭ是最近出现的一种网络管理新技术。本文考查了ＷＢＭ的起主主要特点,介绍了实现ＷＢＭ的两种主要模型以及与ＷＢＭ相关的实现技术和正在形成的标准,并搪塞了ＷＢＭ的局限性的问题。     

基于Internt支持群组决策的工作和流管理系统的设计与实现

共作流管理是ＣＳＣＷ中的一个重要领域。采用并作流管理系统企业能够简单快速地实现业务处理过程，迅速适应市场的变化，从而获取更好的经济效益。本文介绍了一个基于Ｉｎｔｅｒｎｅｔ并支持群组决策的工作流管理平台－－ＮＥＵＷｏｒｋ的设计模型，讨论了ＮＥＵＷｏｒｋ实现中的几个关键问题－－－基于功能网的图形化工作流模型建立工具，协调机制的实现及群组决策支持的实现。     

The World Wide Web

Abstract

The World Wide Web is increasingly being used by libraries as a way to extend traditional services to patrons. The Web can also be used as a tool to facilitate communications between library professionals and to deliver presentations, organize exhibits, and develop demonstration projects. The allocation of personal Web work space on a library server provides librarians with a means to experiment with using the medium and a place to publish information of interest to the library profession. This paper explores the uses of the Web to enhance communications between library professionals and addresses some of the issues associated with such uses.

提出了一种采用以Web为核心环境Internet技术来实现企业工作流程管理控制系统。基于Web的企业工作流程管理控制系统不仅突破传统工作流系统在时间和空间上的局限,而且还通过软件构件的包装处理控制方式解决了开放式网络环境下的协作自动化管理控制问题。     

Using World Wide Web Softwar for Reference and Instruction

Librarians have offered reference and instruction services at the reference desk and in classrooms for many years. Now a third location, the network, is emerging as a viable place for reference and instruction. The widespread availability of software to browse, create, edit, and serve World Wide Web pages has opened exciting new opportunities for teaching librarians. With this software and the proliferation of networked personal computers in colleges and universities, it is possible to deliver reference and instruction to library users at their computers. Suggestions and guidelines for creating Web pages are offered. In the future, the Web technology may include asynchronous interactive partticipation in the teaching-learning process by students, instructors, and librarians.     

Cache技术在万维网上的应用

虽然Cache技术是一种传统的技术,但是在应用到网络新环境时,就需要在原有的技术上进行改进。文中详细地介绍整个网络中各个节点(用户端、代理端、服务器端)对用户事件的网络行为,说明在WWW上使用Cache技术的原因和介绍了如何在网络的不同节点上应用该技术的问题,并比较了现有的主要的有关网络缓存的各种不同协议。还介绍了这一技术中两个重要的问题:缓存替换策略和如何使缓存中的动态对象和原始的Web服务器中相应的对象保持一致。

ABSTRACT

An analysis of Web citations was performed to examine three aspects of scholarly and research communication: use of authoritative information, use of correct citation style, and availability of the cited sources for the purpose of verification. Results of the study indicate that a database or a repository of Web citations needs to be established.     

Technical Report Literature on the World Wide Web

Abstract

This article reviews and analyzes the current state of Web access to technical report literature. Besides locating sites for bibliographically identifying technical reports, it also looks at the ways the full-text of technical reports are being distributed. Where appropriate, it compares the electronic bibliographic control products with their print or formerly print equivalents. Most widely available at this point are federal government reports and computer science technical reports. Information on coping with the various file formats found at the sites is also provided. URLs to the various technical report sites and to sites dealing with the software applications needed to access the reports are included.     

万维网的链接结构分析及其应用综述

当今万维网的规模已经快速发展到包含大约80亿个网页和560亿个超链接．此外，对万维网的创建进行全局规划显然是不可能的．这些都对万维网的相关研究提出了挑战．另一方面，互联网环境下通过超链连接起来的网页，为人们的日常和商务用途提供了非常丰富的信息资源，但前提是必须掌握有效的办法来理解万维网．链接结构分析在万维网的很多研究领域起着越来越重要的作用．全面介绍了万维网链接分析方面的最新研究进展和应用情况，对链接分析在Web信息搜索、万维网潜在社区发现及万维网建模等方面的研究进展和实际应用进行了综述．     

How students evaluate information and sources when searching the World Wide Web for information

The World Wide Web (WWW) has become the biggest information source for students while solving information problems for school projects. Since anyone can post anything on the WWW, information is often unreliable or incomplete, and it is important to evaluate sources and information before using them. Earlier research has shown that students have difficulties with evaluating sources and information. This study investigates the criteria secondary educational students use while searching the Web for information. 23 students solved two information problems while thinking aloud. After completing the tasks they were interviewed in groups on their use of criteria. Results show that students do not evaluate results, source and information very often. The criteria students mention when asked which criteria are important for evaluating information are not always the same criteria they mention while solving the information problems. They mentioned more criteria but also admitted not always using these criteria while searching the Web.     

Structured Cooperative Authoring for the World Wide Web

Alliance is a structured cooperative authoring application that allowspeople spread out across different locations to work together on documentproduction and maintenance. It uses the World Wide Web as an infrastructureto accomplish distributed document management, asynchronous group awareness,and communication and cooperation among distributed authors. A particularfeature of Alliance is that it can handle temporary disconnections from thenetwork without disrupting the cooperative editing. In this article wereport our experience in designing and implementing Alliance, focusing onthe mechanisms that needed to be developed in order to support cooperativeauthoring using the Web.     

A non-obtrusive user interface for increasing social awareness on the World Wide Web

Arguing for the need of increasing social awareness on the World Wide Web, we describe a user interface based on the metaphor of windows bridging electronic and physical spaces. We present a system that, with the aim of making online activity perceptible in the physical world, makes it possible tohear people visiting one's website. The system takes advantage of theseamless andcontinuous network connection offered by handheld Web-appliances such as personal digital assistants.
