We report high-resolution measurements of the pressure coefficient (P/T) for3He in both the one-phase and two-phase regions close to the critical point. These include data on 40 isochores over the intervals–0.1t+0.1 and–0.2+0.2, wheret=(T–T c )/T c and =(– c )/ c . We have determined the discontinuity (P/T) of (P/T) between the one-phase and the two-phase regions along the coexistence curve as a function of . The asymptotic behavior of (1/) (P/T) versus near the critical point gives a power law with an exponent (+–1)–1=1.39±0.02 for0.010.2 or–1×10 –2t10 –6 , from which we deduce =1.14±0.01, using =0.361 determined from the shape of the coexistence curve. An analysis of the discontinuity (P/T) with a correction-to-scaling term gives =1.17±0.02. The quoted errors are fromstatistics alone. Furthermore, we combine our data with heat capacity results by Brown and Meyer to calculate (/T) c as a function oft. In the two-phase region the slope (2/T 2)c is different from that in the one-phase region. These findings are discussed in the light of the predictions from simple scaling and more refined theories and model calculations. For the isochores 0 we form a scaling plot to test whether the data follow simple scaling, which assumes antisymmetry of – ( c ,t) as a function of on both sides of the critical isochore. We find that indeed this plot shows that the assumption of simple scaling holds reasonably well for our data over the ranget0.1. A fit of our data to the linear model approximation is obtained for0.10 andt0.02, giving a value of =1.16±0.02. Beyond this range, deviations between the fit and the data are greater than the experimental scatter. Finally we discuss the (P/T) data analysis for 4 He by Kierstead. A power law plot of (1/) P/T) versus belowT c leads to =1.13±0.10. An analysis with a correction-to-scaling term gives =1.06±0.02. In contrast to 3 He, the slopes (2/T 2)c above and belowT c are only marginally different.Work supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

We have measured the 16 Hz susceptibility of the giant magnetic moments induced by Fe impurities in highly dilutedPdFex andPtFex samples with 2.5 ppm x 75 ppm in a wide temperature range, 30 K T 300 mK, and at static magnetic fields 0,01 mT B 25 mT. We find spin glass freezing at Tf(X)/X0,19mK/ppm Fe forPdFex and the larger value 0.26 mK/ppm Fe forPtFex. This is the first observation of spin glass freezing inPtFex. In the low-temperature range T 0.5Tf(x), the susceptibilities follow — 0 T with small zero-temperature 0 values forPdFeX and vanishing 0 values forPtFex. In the paramagnetic high-temperature range, we find (T — )it-1 at T 10 mK independent of x forPdFex, and at T 2Tf(x) dependent of x forPtFex with vanishing values for both systems. The data compare well to the predictions of the Thouless-Anderson-Palmer TAP approach of the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick SK model for spin glasses.  相似文献

The problem of freezing of pure water in a round pipe is treated with due regard for convection under asymmetric thermal boundary conditions in the absence of motion along the pipe. The problem is solved numerically using the control volume approach, SIMPLER algorithm, and the enthalpy method. Results are obtained for three Grashof (Gr) and six Biot (Bi) numbers: Gr = 1.55 × 106, Bi = 0.305 (0 < ), Bi = 0.044 ( < 2); Gr = 1.24 × 107, Bi = 0.610 (0 < ), Bi = 0.087 ( < 2); Gr = 9.89 × 107, Bi = 1.220 (0 < ), Bi = 0.174 ( < 2). The correctness of calculation of the problem disregarding free-convection flows is analyzed.  相似文献

We have measured ac susceptibility, nuclear magnetic resonance, and nuclear heat capacity of two PtFe x samples with concentrations of magnetic impurities x = 11 ppm and 41 ppm at magnetic fields (0 ± 0.05) mTB248 mT. The susceptibility data have been measured at temperatures of 0.3 KT100 mK, no hint for nuclear magnetic ordering could be detected to a temperature of 0.3 K. The nuclear heat capacity data taken at 1.4 KT10 mK show enhanced values which scale with x at low polarization. This effect is described by a model assuming an internal magnetic field caused by the impurities. No indication for nuclear magnetic ordering could be detected to 1.4 K. The nuclear magnetic resonance experiments have been performed on these samples at 0.8 KT0.5 mK and 2.5 mTB22.8 mT as well as on three other samples with x = 5, 10, 31 ppm in a different setup at 40 KT0.5 mK and at 5.4 mTB200 mT. Spin-lattice and effective spin-spin relaxation times 1and 2 * of 195 Pt strongly depend on x and on the external magnetic field. No temperature dependence of 1and 2 * could be detected and the NMR data, too, give no hint for nuclear magnetic ordering to 0.8 K.  相似文献

Thermodynamic Properties of Sulfur Hexafluoride   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We present new vapor phase speed-of-sound data u(P, T), new Burnett density–pressure–temperature data (P, T), and a few vapor pressure measurements for sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). The speed-of-sound data spanned the temperature range 230 KT460 K and reached maximum pressures that were the lesser of 1.5 MPa or 80% of the vapor pressure of SF6. The Burnett (P, T) data were obtained on isochores spanning the density range 137 mol·m–34380 mol·m–3 and the temperature range 283 KT393 K. (The corresponding pressure range is 0.3 MPaP9.0 MPa.) The u(P, T) data below 1.5 MPa were correlated using a model hard-core, Lennard–Jones intermolecular potential for the second and third virial coefficients and a polynomial for the perfect gas heat capacity. The resulting equation of state has very high accuracy at low densities; it is useful for calibrating mass flow controllers and may be extrapolated to 1000 K. The new u(P, T) data and the new (P, T) data were simultaneously correlated with a virial equation of state containing four terms with the temperature dependences of model square-well potentials. This correlation extends nearly to the critical density and may help resolve contradictions among data sets from the literature.  相似文献

The heat capacity of heavy water was measured in the temperature range from 294 to 746 K and at densities between 52 and 1105 kg·m–3 using a high-temperature, high-pressure adiabatic calorimeter. The measurements were performed at 14 liquid and 9 vapor densities between 52 and 1105 kg·m–3. Uncertainties of the measurements are estimated to be within 3% for vapor isochores and 1.5% for the liquid isochores. In the region of the immediate vicinity of the critical point (0.97T/T c1.03 and 0.75/c1.25), the uncertainty is 4.5%. The original C V data were corrected and converted to the new ITS-90 temperature scale. A parametric crossover equation of state was used to represent the isochoric heat capacity measurements of heavy water in the extended critical region, 0.8T/T c1.5 and 0.35/c1.65. The liquid and vapor one- and two-phase isochoric heat capacities, temperatures, and saturation densities were extracted from experimental data for each measured isochore. Most of the experimental data are compared with the Hill equation of state, and the overall statistics of deviations between experimental data and the equation of state are given.  相似文献

Based on the generalization of experimental data, we propose a formula for the calculation of the effect of the temperature factor and the transition from a laminar flow regime to one that is turbulent in the boundary layer of a plate; this formula has been confirmed by experiments performed in the following range of parameter variation: 0.5 2.6; 0.2 M 3.6; 0.1 9%.Translated from Inzhenerno-Fizicheskii Zhurnal, Vol. 16, No. 2, pp.218–224, February, 1969.  相似文献

The temperature-dependent normal state resistivity of single crystal Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 – is theoretically analyzed within the framework of classical electron–phonon i.e., Bloch-Gruneisen model of resistivity. For the reason of inherent acoustic (low frequency) phonons (ac) as well as high-frequency optical phonons (op), the contributions to the resistivity were first derived. The optical phonons of the oxygen breathing mode yields a relatively larger contribution to the resistivity compared to the contribution of acoustic phonons. Estimated contribution to in-plane resistivity by considering both phonons, i.e., ac and op, along with the zero-temperature-limited resistivity, when subtracted from single crystal data infers a quadratic temperature dependence over most of the temperature range [25 T 300]. Quadratic temperature dependence of diff. = [exp. – {0 + e–ph (=ac + op)}] is understood in terms of 3D electron–electron inelastic scattering. The comparison of single crystal experimental data appears favorable with the present analysis.  相似文献

(Pb1–xBax)ZrO3 powders are synthesized below 800 °C for x 0.25 using a semi-wet route involving solid-state thermochemical reaction in a mixture of ZrO2 and (Pb1–xBax)CO3. The (Pb1–xBax)CO3 precursors were obtained by a forced coprecipitation technique. These powders can be sintered to achieve nearly 99% of the theoretical density at 1050 °C, which is 200 to 300 °C lower than that employed for the solid state route. The structure of as-calcined powder is orthorhombic for x 0.10 and rhombohedral for 0.25 > x 0.35, whereas the two phases coexist for 0.15 x 0.25. The structure of sintered material is orthorhombic for 0 x 0.10, rhombohedral for 0.20 x 0.30, and cubic for x 0.35, whereas orthorhombic and rhombohedral phases coexist at x = 0.15. The difference in the structure of the as-calcined and sintered powders is discussed in terms of particle size effect and chemical homogenisation of Ba2+ in the PBZ matrix.  相似文献

Contrary to previous statements in the literature, large deviations from Matthiessen's rule in fine wiresare to be expected on the basis of a straight-forward solution of the ordinary transport equation, assuming the relaxation-time approximation and imposing the idealized condition of diffuse scattering of electrons at the boundaries. Using Chambers' path-integral method to evaluate the current density in a wire of arbitrary cross-sectional shape, the effects of boundary scattering on the resistivity in the regimed 0.1 have been calculated for two model Fermi surface geometries. For the temperature-dependent part of the resistivity, d (T) d (T)– d (0), two distinct types of behavior are found in the alternative cases: (1) for a spherical Fermi surface, d(T) increases logarithmically with d(0); (2) for a cylindrical Fermi surface, d (T) increases essentially linearly with d (0). [In each case the qualitative dependence of d(0) on /d is, for practical purposes, linear. However, the correct value of the product in the cylindrical case is not simply given in the ordinary way by the slope of an empirical plot of d (0) vs.d –1.] A comparison of theoretical results for the two simple models with the published data for indium and gallium shows that the actual temperature-dependent size effects are consistent, both qualitatively and, by a rough estimation, quantitatively, with the expected behavior.  相似文献

Results concerning V3Si films produced by a simple annealed multilayer technique are reported together with X-ray diffraction patterns, Auger spectroscopy, and Rutherford backscattering analysis. Low-temperature electrical resistivity measurements are discussed. It is found that the V3Si films exhibit aT 2 dependence in the temperature rangeT c T23 K and aT 2.6 dependence in the rangeT c T40 K. The normal-state resistivity in the whole temperature range (T c T600 K) is analyzed in the framework of Cote-Meisel theory. Consistent values of the saturation resistivity m and of the Debye temperature are obtained by fitting the experimental data with the Cote-Meisel expression for (T).  相似文献

The magnetization of Co(tCo)/Pt(tPt) (4 tCo10 , 7 tPt20 ) multilayers has been measured as a function of temperature. For Co/Pt multilayers with fixed cobalt layer thickness of 4 , the magnetization decreases faster with temperature as the platinum layers are made thicker. A simple theoretical model based on an anisotropic ferromagnetic system has been used to explain the temperature dependence of the magnetization and the approximate values for the in-plane exchange interaction J0 and the interlayer coupling strength J1 for various Co/Pt multilayers have been obtained.  相似文献

Crystallization kinetics is studied in glassy Ge20Se80–xInx (0 x 20) using isothermal annealing at temperatures between the glass transition and melting. D.c. conductivity is taken as a parameter to estimate the extent of crystallization (). The activation energy of crystallization (E) and the order parameter (n) are calculated by fitting the values of in the Avrami equations of isothermal crystallization. The results indicate that E is highly composition-dependent, which is explained in terms of the stable phases in the Ge-Se-In system.  相似文献

From the second-sound velocityU 2 near the superfluid transition point, the superfluid densities in3He-4He mixtures, s (X) and s (), were deduced along the paths of constant3He concentrationX and of constant chemical potential difference of3He and4He. The following critical exponents of s are determined: (a) =XX for s (X) in the(X, T) plane,(b) X for s (X) in the(, T) plane, and(c) for s () in the(, T) plane. It is found that and X change by about 4–6% relative to with increasing3He concentration up toX=0.4 and by 8–10% up toX=0.53. It seems that, belowX=0.53, universality hold for . Values of have been found to be in good agreement with the critical exponent of s in pure4He under constant pressure. The values of and X forX0.53 are also found to be consistent with the scaling relations in the (,T) plane of3He-4He mixture.Work performed in part while at the Electrotechnical Laboratory.  相似文献

The electrical resistivity of the A15 compound Nb100–x Pt x (20x28.9) is measured as a function of compositionx from room temperature to the superconducting transition temperatureT c The residual resistivity 0 is observed to be nearly independent of composition on the Nb-rich side of stoichiometry, but strongly dependent on the Pt-rich side. A closeT c correlation with the resistivity sloped/dT at high temperatures and with the electronic specific heat coefficient , which are proportional to the superconducting coupling parameter , is noted. The results can be understood in terms of an order-disorder model.  相似文献

Simultaneous measurements of () and of the molar volume are reported for liquid mixtures of 3He in 4He over the temperature range between 0.5 and 2.5 K. Here is the shear viscosity and is the mass density. In the superfluid phase, the product of the normal components, n and n , is measured. The mixtures with 3He molefractions 0.30 < X < 0.80 are studied with emphasis on the region near the superfluid transition T and near the phase-separation curve. Along the latter, they are compared with data by Lai and Kitchens. For X > 0.5, the viscosity singularity near T becomes a faint peak, which however fades into the temperature-dependent background viscosity as X tends to the tricritical concentration X t. Likewise, no singularity in is apparent when T t is approached along the phase separation branches and +. Furthermore, viscosity data are reported for 3He and compared with previous work. Finally, for dilute mixtures with 0.01 X 0.05, the results for are compared with previous data and with predictions.  相似文献

The surface impedance Z(T,) at 10 and 145 GHz and between 4 and 300 K is obtained experimentally. Z(TaTTc) is quantitatively fitted by the BCS theory with a mean free path I(T) increasing rapidely below Tc. This I-increase in the frame of the BCS-theory is limited at Ta by inelastic surface scattering at weak or strong links, e.g., by twin boundaries in distances aTW which dominates scattering for aTw2I(Ta). Below Ta the enforced energy transfer from YBCO-crystallites to weak links may enhance Z(Ta) until at T T* the weak link surface impedance dominates Zres(T相似文献

The effect of Sn doping in (Pb0.6Sn y Cu0.4 – y )Sr2(Y1 – x Ca x )Cu2O z with 0 y 0.3 and 0 x 0.7 was investigated. It was established that a nearly pure 1212 phase can be obtained at 0 y 0.1 and 0 x 0.3. The obtained XRD patterns as well as the results of the EDX and ICP-AES analyses showed that Sn substitution is possible in the (Pb,Cu)-1212 phase. Superconductivity was observed at 0.4 x 0.7. The onset of the diamagnetic transitions varied from 10 to 30 K. The influence of the strong Pb deficiency on the superconducting properties of the samples was discussed.  相似文献

We have performed high-resolution measurements of the magnetic field (0 TB9 T) and temperature (10 KT<140 K) dependence of the longitudinal and transverse Hall thermal conductivity of a twinned YBa2Cu3O6.95 single crystal. We have used and compared two recently published methods to extract the thermal Hall angle H(T, B). Our results indicate that cot(H) varies quite accurately as T4 in the intermediate temperature range 0.3c. It shows a well defined minimum at Tm20 K which resembles that observed in the c-axis microwave conductivity. The electronic part of the longitudinal and the transverse thermal conductivity show the scaling behavior for transport properties predicted for d-wave superconductors in the temperature range 18 KT30 K.  相似文献
