Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is a new structure for microwave transmission. In this paper, a planar folded sixth‐order SIW filter is designed with aggressive space mapping (ASM) algorithm. Its center frequency is 22 GHz, 3 dB bandwidth 1 GHz, and in‐band return loss 22 dB. The filter satisfies design specifications after four iterations, and is fabricated using micro‐electro‐mechanical systems (MEMS) technology with a chip size of 7.5 mm × 8.5 mm × 0.4 mm. Measurement results show that the center frequency of the filter measures at 22.2 GHz, 3 dB bandwidth at 1 GHz, insertion loss at 3.57 dB, return loss at 22 dB and out‐of‐band rejection at 40 dB.  相似文献

An H‐plane horn antenna constructed into SIW (substrate integrated waveguide) is proposed. It has a dielectric arc lens for better directivity and a simple microstrip transition as feed. The horn, the lens and the transition share the same substrate. The resulting formula from optical principles shows that the suitable dielectric lens can improve the directivity of the antenna significantly. A prototype was fabricated; the antenna size is 39.175 × 14 × 2 mm3. The frequency band is from 25.5 to 28.5 GHz. The measured gain of this antenna is about 9 dB; the bandwidth, at 10 dB return loss, is over 12%. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE, 2007.  相似文献

An approach to 1‐to‐n (n = 3, 4…) way single‐ended‐to‐balanced filtering power splitter (SETBFPS) is proposed. The properly placed balanced ports with 0.5λg (λg is the substrate integrated waveguide [SIW] guided wavelength at f0) space make the TE32nd 103 and TE32nd 105 modes of n 32nd‐mode SIW multimode resonators form differential‐mode (DM) passband of the SETBFPS. Compared with the state‐of‐art single‐ended‐to‐balanced power splitters, the proposed approach has all the functions of 1‐to‐n way, filtering, and common‐mode (CM) suppression. A 1‐to‐3 way prototype is exemplified at 3.5 GHz with the minimum insertion loss (IL) of 0.09 dB, a fractional bandwidth (FBW) for a 15‐dB return loss of 35%, and a FBW for 15‐dB CM suppression of 52%. Low IL and wide bandwidth can be observed.  相似文献

A new broadband circularly polarized (CP) square‐slot antenna with low axial ratios is proposed in this article. The antenna is comprised of an L‐shaped microstrip line with tapered section and a square‐slot ground plane with some stubs and slots, which are utilized as perturbations for the desirable antenna performance. By loading stubs and slots in the square‐slot ground plane, the 2‐dB axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) and 10‐dB return loss bandwidth for the presented antenna can be markedly improved. The measured results show that its 2‐dB ARBW is 4.2 GHz (54.2% from 5.65 GHz to 9.85 GHz) and its 10‐dB return loss bandwidth is about 8.9 GHz (92.7% from 5.15 GHz to 14.05 GHz). The proposed antenna features compact structure and broad 2‐AR bandwidth which could completely cover the WLAN (5.725‐5.85 GHz) band. Therefore, the proposed antenna is suitable for circular polarization applications in C band.  相似文献

In this paper, two ultracompact power dividers based on the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and half‐mode SIW (HMSIW) technologies loaded by complementary split‐ring resonators (CSRRs) are presented. The presented structures are designed based on the theory of evanescent mode propagation. To obtain a size reduction, the CSRR unit cells are etched on the metallic surface of the SIW and HMSIW structures. First, a two‐way HMSIW power divider is reported. In this circuit, the concept of HMSIW is utilized aiming at a further size reduction in addition to the size reduction by the CSRR unit cells. Then, a four‐way SIW power divider is designed so that the direct coaxial feed is used for the input port and microstrip transmission lines are used for the output ports. Both two‐way and four‐way SIW/HMSIW power dividers at 5.8 GHz covering WLAN are designed, fabricated, and measured. They respectively have 0.18 × 0.21 λg2 and 0.38 × 0.21 λg2 total size. A fair agreement between simulated and measured results is achieved. The measured insertion losses are 0.5 ± 0.5 and 0.6 ± 0.5 dB for the two‐way and four‐way SIW/HMSIW power dividers, respectively, in the operating band of interest.  相似文献

In this article, the design approach, the implementation, and experimental results of multiband branch‐line couplers operating at arbitrary frequencies are presented. The conventional branch‐line coupler structure is adapted to multiband operation by shunting its four ports with multiband reactive networks. The performance of the proposed multiband couplers is theoretically analyzed and optimized through the even‐odd mode circuit analysis. Dual‐band (2.4–3.5 GHz), triple‐band (1.5–2.4–4.2 GHz), and quad‐band (1.5–2.4–3.5 GHz) microstrip branch‐line couplers have been realized and tested to verify the design method. The good experimental results (input return loss greater than 15 dB and amplitude imbalance lower than 0.7 dB) show excellent agreement with theoretical and simulated ones, thus validating the proposed approach. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article presented a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity‐backed self‐diplexing antenna array with frequency beam scanning characteristic. The proposed array consists of 16 SIW cavity‐backed slot antennas. The SIW cavity‐backed slot antenna can be fed by two separate ports to resonate at two different frequencies and achieve high isolation better than 20 dB between two input ports. The proposed element is a typical self‐diplexing antenna. These cavity‐backed slot antennas are shunt‐fed by a compact 1 to 16 SIW power divider and series‐fed by a set of microstrip lines, respectively. As a result, this array achieves an unidirectional radiation pattern at 10.2 GHz with high gain of 15.10 dBi, and a frequency beam scanning characteristic from 7.0 to 9.0 GHz ranging from ?50° to 46°.  相似文献

In this article, a broadband quasi‐Yagi array of rectangular loops using low‐temperature co‐fired ceramic technology is proposed. The antenna is fed by a simple and compact microstrip‐to‐coplanar strip transition, which serves as balun and impedance transformer simultaneously. Four rectangular loops are used to direct the antenna propagation toward the end‐fire direction. Compared with the planar directors in traditional quasi‐Yagi antenna, they can provide better director effect to improve the radiation performance. Furthermore, they act as good impedance matching elements to broaden the bandwidth. The measured results show that the proposed antenna achieves a wide bandwidth of 42% for S11 < ?10 dB (from 26.1 to 40 GHz), better than 12 dB front‐to‐back ratio, smaller than 14 dB cross polarization and an average gain over 6.5 dBi across the operating bandwidth. The antenna occupies a compact size of 8 × 8 × 1 mm3. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J RF and Microwave CAE 24:196–203, 2014.  相似文献

This article reports a high gain millimeter‐wave substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) antenna using low cost printed circuit board technology. The half elliptic slots which can provide small shunt admittance, low cross polarization level and low mutual coupling are etched on the board surface of SIW as radiation slots for large array application. Design procedure for analyzing the characteristics of proposed radiation slot, the beam‐forming structure and the array antenna are presented. As examples, an 8 × 8 and a 32 × 32 SIW slot array antennas are designed and verified by experiments. Good agreements between simulation and measured results are achieved, which shows the 8 × 8 SIW slot array antenna has a gain of 20.8 dBi at 42.5 GHz, the maximum sidelobe level of 42.5 GHz E‐plane and H‐plane radiation patterns are 22.3 dB and 22.1 dB, respectively. The 32 × 32 SIW slot array antenna has a maximum measured gain of 30.05 dBi at 42.5 GHz. At 42.3 GHz, the measured antenna has a gain of 29.6 dBi and a maximum sidelobe level of 19.89 dB and 15.0 dB for the E‐plane and H‐plane radiation patterns. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The wideband bandpass filtering branch‐line balun with high isolation is presented in this paper. The proposed balun can be designed for wideband performances by choosing a proper characteristics impedance of input vertical transmission line and odd‐mode impedance of parallel‐coupled lines. The proposed balun was designed at a center frequency (f0) of 3.5 GHz for validation. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulations. The measured power divisions are ?3.31 dB and ?3.24 dB at f0 and ?3 ± 0.17 dB within the bandwidth of 0.95 GHz (3 GHz to 3.95 GHz). The input return loss of 24.09 is measured at f0 and higher than 20 dB over the same bandwidth. Moreover, the measured output losses are better than 11 dB within a wide bandwidth. The isolation between output ports is 20.32 dB at f0 and higher than 13.2 dB for a broad bandwidth from 1 GHz to 10 GHz. The phase difference and magnitude imbalance between two output ports are 180° ± 4.5° and ± 0.95 dB, respectively, for the bandwidth of 0.95 GHz.  相似文献

In this article, a broadband microstrip‐to‐waveguide transition with antisymmetric tapered probe as well as a W‐band power divider/combiner using dual proposed antisymmetric tapered probes is presented. Because of tapered microstrip shapes and metallic steps, the proposed transition is proved to be broadband, efficient, and compact. The insertion loss of the transition sample is less than 0.56 dB between 75 GHz and 100 GHz. Under the assistance of the gradually changed waveguide and dual parallel tapered probes, the operating band of the power divider/combiner has been significantly improved, which is adequate to work in the whole W‐band. A back‐to‐back prototype of the divider/combiner is fabricated and measured. The measured insertion loss of the single divider/combiner is less than 0.29 dB between 90 GHz and 100 GHz, and agrees well with the simulations. Because the circuit size is smaller than 8.0 mm × 2.2 mm (Thanks to the excellent performance and compact size), the proposed design can find wide applications in miniaturized MCM/MMIC systems.  相似文献

A Ka‐band power divider/combiner with dual magnetic coupling semicircular ring probes is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a broadband microstrip‐to‐waveguide transition with semicircular ring probe is designed based on the side‐inserted structure of magnetic field excitation in a rectangular waveguide. The insertion loss of the proposed transition is less than 0.7 dB in Ka‐band assisted by the dual symmetrical broadband probes and rectangular waveguide. Then, the divider/combiner is proposed using the new transition with magnetic coupling from narrow wall into the rectangular waveguide. The bandwidth of the divider/combiner is more than 9 GHz (from 27 to 36.7 GHz), and the insertion loss of the single divider/combiner is less than 3.3 dB. Finally, the performance of the proposed divider/combiner is validated through simulations and measurements. The proposed design has potential applications in microstrip circuits.  相似文献

A broadband high‐gain circularly polarized (CP) microstrip antenna operating in X band is proposed. The circular polarization property is achieved by rotating four narrow band linearly polarized (LP) microstrip patch elements in sequence. Since the conventional series‐parallel feed network is not conducive to the miniaturization of the array, a corresponding simplified feed network is designed to realize the four‐way equal power division and sequential 90° phase shift. With this feed network, the impedance bandwidth (IBW) of the CP array is greatly improved compared with that of the LP element, while maintaining a miniaturized size. Then, parasitic patches are introduced to enhance the axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW). A prototype of this antenna is fabricated and tested. The size of proposed antenna is 0.93λ0 × 0.93λ0 × 0.017λ0 (λ0 denotes the space wavelength corresponding to the center frequency 10.4 GHz). The measured 10‐dB IBW and 3‐dB ARBW are 13.6% (9.8‐11.23 GHz), 11.2% (9.9‐11.07 GHz) respectively, and peak gain in the overlapping band is 9.8 dBi.  相似文献

A new millimeter‐wave antenna structure on a low‐cost, production platform integrated passive device technology is presented. The antenna consists of a 2‐by‐1 array of slot antennas at 60 GHz. An in‐house developed on‐chip antenna measurement setup was used to characterize the fabricated antenna. The measurement results show an antenna gain of more than 5 dBi with a return loss of 18 dB at 60 GHz. The better‐than‐10‐dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna covers the 60‐GHz unlicensed band from 57 to 64 GHz. The 3‐dB beamwidths of the antenna are 105° and 76° at E‐plane and H‐plane at 60 GHz, respectively. The size of the die of the antenna is 2 mm × 4.5 mm. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A circularly polarized printed antenna using an asymmetric open‐slot is designed in this paper. The presented antenna consists of conducting ground plane with open wide‐slot, fed electromagnetically by a microstrip feedline. The slot and feedline are positioned at the edge of the ground plane and substrate, hence making the antenna asymmetric. The measured results show that the |S11| < ?10 dB impedance bandwidth is 125% (3.2‐14 GHz) and the broadband axial ratio bandwidth is 61% (3.2‐6 GHz). The antenna is very simple and has a small size of 25 mm × 25 mm, making it attractive for compact wireless WLAN, ISM, WiMAX, and C‐band applications.  相似文献

A planar and compact substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity backed antenna and a 2 × 2 multi‐input multi‐output (MIMO) antenna are presented in this study. The proposed antenna is fed by a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) to SIW type transition and planned to be used for millimeter‐wave (mm‐wave) fifth generation (5G) wireless communications that operates at 28, 38, 45, and 60 GHz frequency bands. Moreover, the measured impedance bandwidth (|S11| ≤ ? 10 dB ) of the antenna covers 27.55 to 29.36, 37.41 to 38.5, 44.14 to 46.19, and 57.57 to 62.32 GHz bands and confirms the quad‐band characteristic. Omni‐directional radiation characteristics are observed in the far‐field radiation pattern measurements of the antenna over the entire operating frequency. The reported antenna is compact in size (9.7 × 13.3 × 0.6 mm3) and the gain values at each resonance frequency are measured as 3.26, 3.28, 3.34, and 4.51 dBi, respectively. Furthermore, the MIMO antenna performance is evaluated in terms of isolation, envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate bandwidth‐enhancement of a circularly‐polarized (CP) Fabry‐Perot antenna (FPA) using single‐layer partially reflective surface (PRS). The FPA is composed of a single‐feed truncated‐corner square patch antenna, which is covered by the PRS formed by a square aperture array. We revealed that the finite‐sized PRS produces extra resonances and CP radiations for the antenna system, which broadened the impedance matching and axial ratio (AR) bandwidths significantly. For verification, a broadband CP FPA prototype operating near 5.8 GHz was realized and tested. The fabricated antenna with overall size of 125 mm × 125 mm × 23.5 mm achieves a |S11| < ?10 dB bandwidth of 31.7% (5.23‐7.2 GHz), an AR < 3‐dB bandwidth of 13.7% (5.45‐6.25 GHz), the peak gain of 13.3 dBic, a 3‐dB gain bandwidth of 22.38% (5.0‐6.26 GHz), and a radiation efficiency of >91%.  相似文献

A substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) circularly polarized (CP) antenna with omnidirectional radiation in the azimuthal plane is proposed. The antenna consists of five identical end‐fire CP antenna elements in a pentagonal array configuration, which is loaded on a circular substrate. Each element contains an H‐plane horn antenna in SIW structure and a printed dipole antenna. Five parasitic curve elements are introduced to improve the omnidirectional property of the antenna. Combined with complementary dipoles theory and SIW technology, prototype antenna is designed, fabricated and measured. With a low profile of 0.024λ0, the antenna has a 10‐dB return‐loss impedance bandwidth of 4.08% (2.4~2.5 GHz) and a 3‐dB axial‐ratio (AR) bandwidth of 5.76% (2.36~2.50 GHz). The antenna works well in the 2.45 GHz ISM band, with good cross‐polarization and excellent omnidirectional property.  相似文献

This article presents two compact circularly polarized microstrip antennas with a very wide 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth and triple circularly polarized bands. A hexagonal stub (circular polarization element) along with tuning element in the ground plane is used for achieving wide 3 dB ARBW in antenna‐1, while a novel approach of using a parasitic strip around the circular polarization element is used in antenna‐2 for introducing band elimination notches in the circularly polarized band of antenna‐1. The antenna‐1 has a ?10 dB impedance bandwidth of 12.34% (3.8‐4.3 GHz), 84.02% (4.9‐12 GHz), and 3 dB ARBW of 79.94% (4.9‐10.9 GHz). The antenna‐2 displays circularly polarized band elimination notch characteristics with ?10 dB impedance bandwidth of 24.80% (3.85‐4.94 GHz), 31.72% (6.1‐8.4 GHz), 25.35% (9.3‐12 GHz), and 3 dB ARBW of 4.84% (4.63‐4.86 GHz), 19.08% (6.02‐7.29 GHz), and 5.7% (9.54‐10.1 GHz). Both the antennas are designed and fabricated on FR4 substrate of dimension (0.52 × 0.52 × 0.04)λ0 at a frequency of 7.9 GHz.  相似文献

Capability of microstrip nonuniform transmission lines (MNTLs) for construction of dual‐band and broadband unequal Wilkinson power dividers with arbitrary‐way, arbitrary frequency band operations, and arbitrary power divisions is evaluated. Also, the MNTL transformers are introduced for dual‐band/broadband matching of the unequal output impedances of the MNTL power divider with arbitrary output terminal impedances. The strip width of MNTLs is considered variable and is written as a truncated Fourier series expansion. To show the validity of the design procedure, three experimental MNTL Wilkinson power dividers, which are dual‐band two‐ and three‐way power dividers with different power divisions working at 1 and 3.4 GHz and one broadband equal power divider working from 0.4 to 1.8 GHz, have been designed and fabricated. In the first ones with power division of 1.5, outputs isolation and ports matching of less than ?30 dB are achieved. Next, an extended recombinant structure is presented for achieving three‐way MNTL power dividers with dual‐band operation. The measured isolation between outputs and ports matching are better than 30 dB and measured forward transmissions are between ?4.87 and ?5.45 in two passbands of the divider. Also, for the proposed broadband divider, the measured isolation between the outputs is better than 13 dB in 127% desired bandwidth. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
