In this article, a compact uniplanar asymmetric coplanar strip (ACS)‐fed multiband antenna with extended rectangular strips is proposed for portable system applications. It is composed of a modified mouse and rectangular‐shaped radiating strip for generating three resonance frequency bands simultaneously. The proposed antenna has a compact size of 16 × 26 × 1.6 mm3. Antenna has |S11| ≤ ?10 dB at three independent controlled bandwidths from 2.2 to 2.4 GHz, 3.5 to 3.7 GHz, and 4.85 to 6.85 GHz. The proposed ACS‐fed antenna is suitable for LTE 2300, WiBro 2300 GHz, 5.2/5.8‐GHz WLAN, 3.5/5.5‐GHz WiMAX, 4.9‐GHz US public safety band, and 5.9‐GHz WAVE applications. The antenna has omnidirectional radiation characteristics in the desired frequency bands in both E‐plane and H‐plane. It has better gain value performance compared with other antenna designs discussed in the literature.  相似文献

This article proposes the design of coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed broadband rectenna for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting application. The rectenna is designed to operate in the industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) frequency band of 5.8 GHz. For designing the proposed rectenna, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) dielectric material was used to design, fabricate the CPW fed slot antenna. It was observed that the proposed antenna exhibits the |S11| of ?23.43 dB and achieves the peak antenna gain of 8.56 dBi at 5.8 GHz. Secondly, the CPW fed rectifier circuit which comprises of the matching circuit, rectifying unit, and filter was designed. The measured results showed that the |S11| of ?19 dB and it was perfectly matched with 50 Ω impedance. Finally, the rectenna was designed by integration of antenna with rectifier circuit. The simulated results showed the maximum RF to direct current (DC) conversion efficiency and the output DC voltage of 88% and 445 mV at the load resistance of 1 kΩ. The measured results show the maximum RF to DC conversion efficiency of 73.4% with the output DC voltage of 540 mV at the load resistance of 1 kΩ.  相似文献

This article presents the design of an offset CPW‐fed slot antenna which exhibits a narrow impedance bandwidth (IBW; |S11| ≤ ?10 dB) extending from 1.20 GHz to 1.45 GHz and another wide impedance bandwidth from 1.86 GHz to 8.4 GHz thus covering almost all the conventional operating frequencies. The antenna is loaded with semicircular and rectangular stubs and meandered microstrip lines to realize circular polarization at 1.35 GHz, 3.3 GHz, 4.9 GHz, and 7.5 GHz with axial ratio bandwidth (axial ratio ≤ 3 dB) of 19.25% (1.2‐1.46 GHz), 4.24% (3.24‐3.38 GHz), 4.1%(4.8‐5 GHz), and 5.2% (7.3‐7.69 GHz) respectively thus covering the GPS, WiMAX, WLAN, and X‐band downlink satellite communication application bands. The mechanism of generation of CP is discussed using vector analysis of surface current density distribution. The gain is fairly constant in the wide IBW region with maximum fluctuation of 1.2 dB. The structure is compact with an overall layout area of 0.27λ × 0.27λ, where λ is the free‐space wavelength corresponding to the lowest circular polarized (CP) frequency. A comparison of the proposed antenna with previously reported structures is performed with respect to impedance bandwidth, compactness, number of CP bands, LHCP to RHCP isolation and gain to comprehend the novelty of the proposed design. A prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated and the measured results are in accord with the simulated results.  相似文献

In this article, a circularly polarized coupled slot 1 × 4 stacked patch antenna array with enhanced bandwidth is proposed for S‐band applications. Initially, a patch antenna radiating at 2.79 GHz is designed and maximum energy from feedline to patch element is coupled using two rectangular slots. Whereas, a parallel feedline structure is designed to provide polarization flexibility by creating 0, 90 , and 180o phase differences. Then, a truncated patch element is vertically stacked in the design to achieve broader bandwidth of 600 MHz over frequency range from 2.4 to 3.0 GHz. Finally, a coupled slot 1 × 4 array stacked antenna array having feedline line structure to provide 90o phase difference for circular polarization is designed and fabricated for measurements. It is observed that the final design achieved target specification having impedance matching (|S11 | (dB) < ?10 dB over 2.4 to 3.0 GHz, broad band circular polarization, and 11.5 dBic total gain. Overall, a good agreement between simulated and measurement results is observed.  相似文献

In this article, a coplanar waveguide fed ring slot antenna is proposed for the generation of circular polarization. It is shown that the bandwidth can be improved by adding a stub. Characteristics mode analysis is used to understand the wideband behavior and generation of circular polarization in different antenna configurations. Parametric analysis is used to optimize the performance of the antenna. The proposed antenna is fabricated and the measured results are compared with the simulated performance. The measured impedance bandwidth (|S11| ≤ -10 dB) is 64.6% (2.25 GHz–4.4 GHz) and a 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth is 64.6% (2.25 GHz–4.4 GHz).  相似文献

In this article, a microstrip fed printed dual band antenna for Bluetooth (2.4–2.484 GHz) and ultra‐wide band (UWB; 3.1–10.6 GHz) applications with wireless local area network (WLAN; 5.15–5.825 GHZ) band‐notch characteristics is proposed. The desired dual band characteristic is obtained by using a spanner shape monopole with rectangular strip radiating patch, whereas the band‐notch characteristics is created by a mushroom‐like structure. The Bluetooth and notch bands can easily be controlled by the geometric parameters of the rectangular strip and mushroom structure, respectively. The proposed antenna has been designed, fabricated, and tested. It is found that the proposed antenna yields both the Bluetooth and UWB performance in the frequency regions of 2.438 to 2.495 GHz and 3.10 to 10.66 GHz, respectively for |S11| ≤ ?10 dB with an excellent rejection band of 5.14 to 5.823 GHz to prevent WLAN signals. The experimental results provide good agreement with simulated ones. Surface current distributions are used to analyze the effects of the rectangular strip and mushroom. The designed antenna exhibits nearly omnidirectional radiation patterns, stable gain along with almost constant group delay over the desired bands. Hence, the proposed antenna is expected to be suitable for both Bluetooth and UWB applications removing the WLAN band. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This work presents a triband antenna, which is compact, low profile, and covers the bandwidth requirements for WLAN and WiMAX applications. The proposed design is a modified and miniaturized printed monopole antenna. It consists of beveling rectangular patch, a Pi‐shape slot element, and an inverted‐L slot element to achieve resonance in three bands. The physical size of the antenna is 27.5 × 20 mm2 while the electrical size is 0.26 λ0 × 0.23 λ0 at the lower operating frequency which is very compact as compared to other triband designs. It works in three bands, that is, 2.37 to 2.52 GHz, 3.35 to 3.90 GHz, and 4.97 to 7.85 GHz with |S11| < ? 10 dB within these operating bands. The prototype of the proposed miniaturized antenna has been fabricated and the measured results are provided for validation. Antenna performance is studied in terms of input match, gain, radiation efficiency, surface current distributions, and radiation pattern. The antenna shows a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern with peak efficiency of 90% and acceptable gain of 4 dBi over the three operating bands of WLAN and WiMAX. The prototype of the antenna is fabricated, and simulated results have been verified through measurements.  相似文献

In this article, a new modified cross‐shaped coupled cubical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) has been investigated for dual‐band dual‐polarized applications. The linearly polarized (LP) fields in DRA has been generated by using a single slot in the ground plane and kept at either 45° (SL1) or ?45° (SL2) from the microstrip feed line. Combining these two slots (SL1 and SL2) in the modified ground plane, the proposed structure able to generate circularly polarized (CP) field in DRA. But the generated CP field is not enough to cover ISM 2400 band. To achieve CP in ISM 2400 band, an extra slot (SL3) to the existing slots and an extra strip (ST) in the circular ring feed line have been included. This modified final antenna arrangement has been able to produce LP (due to loading effect, ie, slot and DRA) and CP fields (orthogonal modes have been generated, ie, TE x111 and TE y111), simultaneously. The measured CP and LP, ?10 dB impedance bandwidths are 11.85% (2.38‐2.68 GHz) and 9.11% (3.25‐3.56 GHz) in combination with the 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth of 4.11% (2.38‐2.48 GHz). The generated CP and LP fields are used for different wireless communication bands such as ISM 2400 and Wi‐MAX (3.3‐3.7 GHz) bands.  相似文献

A miniaturized implantable microstrip split‐ring antenna (IMSRA) is proposed for wireless biotelemetry. The IMSRA takes up a miniaturized volume of 153.35 mm3 (10.5 × 11.5 × 1.27) and provides a dual‐band operation in 360 to 620 MHz and 2.32 to 2.54 GHz that covers The Medical Device Radiocommunications Service (MedRadio) (401‐406 MHz) and Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) (433‐434 MHz and 2.4‐2.48 GHz) bands. The principal part of the radiator consists of three homocentric split‐ring elements. In addition, three conductor paths located between the split rings are used for precise adjustment of the frequency. In order to reduce the antenna size, a shorting pin is appropriately inserted between one of the metallic rings and the ground plane. The impedance matching of the antenna is improved by the use of a hook‐shaped slit placed on the ground plane. For verification of the in vivo operation, the proposed IMSRA was measured in two separate skin‐mimicking gels for MedRadio and ISM bands. A prototype was also tested in the skin tissue sample of a donor rat. The proposed antenna offers 53% (360 ~ 620 MHz) bandwidth at 490 MHz and 9% (2.32 ~ 2.54 GHz) bandwidth at 2.43 GHz. The IMSRA exhibits well‐behaved radiation patterns and SAR values at the respective bands.  相似文献

In this communication, triple band hybrid multi‐input–multi‐output (MIMO) cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) with high isolation is examined. The proposed MIMO antenna includes two symmetric folded microstrip line feeding structures along with CDRA at two different ends of substrate. Two inverted L‐shaped strips on the ground plane are used to enhance the isolation (S12 < ?15 dB) as well as to generates 2.7 GHz frequency band. Metallic strip on the ground plane act as an electromagnetic reflector and also enhance the isolation between two antennas (S12 < ?20 dB). Archetype of proposed MIMO antenna design has been fabricated and tested to validate the simulated results. The proposed antenna operates at three different frequency bands 2.24–2.38 GHz, 2.5–3.26 GHz, and 4.88–7.0 GHz (S11 < ?6 dB) with the fractional bandwidth 6.06%, 26.4%, and 35.7%, respectively. Folded microstrip lines generate path delay between the electric field lines and originate circular polarization characteristics in the frequency range 5.55–5.75 GHz with the fractional bandwidth of 3.55%. In order to satisfy the different performance requirement of MIMO antenna such as envelop correlation coefficient, mean effective gain, effective diversity gain, peak gain are also examined. In this article, the intensive investigations are carried out on a low volume compact flexible antenna for wireless applications with a novel structure model. The proposed model has considered as an elliptical‐ring with split‐triangular patch (ERSTP) antenna with the coplanar waveguide feeding to achieve dual‐bands. The ERSTP antenna is designed with polyimide material having the volume (L a × W a × h) 99 mm3. The ERSTP antenna resonates with 2.60 GHz and 3.48 GHz frequencies with a reflection coefficient of ?21.92 dB and ?32.14 dB and a gain of 2.39 dBi and 1.75, dBi respectively. The impedance bandwidths are 100 MHz and 330 MHz observed at two frequency bands. The proposed ERSTP antenna has operated on mobile‐worldwide interoperability for microwave access (M‐WiMAX) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) bands respectively. A coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed printed compact monopole antenna with five band rejection features is presented. Wide bandwidth was achieved by beveling the lower part and adding a modified ellipse on the upper portion of the patch. An inverted circular arc, single circular split ring resonator (SRR) with wide opening and two symmetrical circular single SRRs were embedded for obtaining three stop‐band characteristics. Two symmetrical slits were inculcated in the ground forming defected ground structure (DGS) to get another stop‐band characteristic. Two concentric rectangular modified SRRs were etched to obtain a higher frequency stop‐band feature. The proposed antenna was designed, fabricated, and experimentally tested for the validation of results. The overall dimensions of the proposed antenna were 29 mm × 24 mm × 1.6 mm. The measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna was 2.87 to 13.3 GHz at | S11 |< ? 10 dB. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has five band notches centred at 3.96, 4.35, 5.7, 8.54, and 9.95 GHz to reject WiMAX band (3.65‐4.04 GHz), ARN band (4.29‐5.18 GHz), WLAN band (5.5‐6.9GHz), ITU‐8 band (7.37‐8.87), and amateur radio band (9.2‐10.3 GHz) respectively. The proposed antenna maintains omnidirectional radiation pattern in H‐Plane and dumbbell‐shape radiation pattern in E‐plane. Further, stable gain over the whole UWB except at notched frequency bands was reported.  相似文献

A square dielectric patch (DP) resonator fusing with the bottom substrate is studied for designing low‐profile circularly polarized (CP) antenna. Based on the theoretical investigation using the constructed analysis model, it can be found that the proposed DP resonator possesses a pair of degenerate dominate modes (TM101 and TM011), which can be split by introducing perturbations on the DP resonator and then used to design CP antenna fed by a microstrip line directly. To verify the proposed idea, a 2 × 2 array fed by a dual Marchand balun network is designed and implemented. Reasonable agreement between the measured and simulated results is observed. Experimental results show that a measured impedance bandwidth is 380 MHz (5.18‐5.56 GHz) for |S11| < ?10 dB and the 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth is 90 MHz (5.32‐5.41 GHz). The measured gain is up to 11.77 dBic with a cross polarization of about ?20 dB in the boresight direction.  相似文献

Designing a high gain planar antenna on the low‐cost FR4 substrate is one of the major challenging tasks for the researchers. The omnidirectional radiation pattern is desired for 360° coverage. Both of these requirements have been addressed in this article. This article presents a dual band printed antenna designed on an FR4 substrate of 1.6 mm thickness. The proposed antenna operates in the ISM band of 2.4 and 5.8 GHz for the application of dual‐band WLAN/WIFI. The proposed antenna consists of a circular patch and ring‐shaped ground plane. The overall dimension of the antenna is 66 × 66 × 1.6 mm3. Excellent impedance matching and radiation efficiency for both the bands have been achieved. The proposed antenna shows omnidirectional radiation pattern at 2.4 GHz ISM band and nearly omnidirectional pattern along with high gain of 4.7 dBi at 5.8 GHz ISM band.  相似文献

A novel compact self‐similar fractal ultra‐wideband (UWB) multiple‐input‐multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna is presented. This fractal geometry is designed by using iterated function system (IFS). Self‐similar fractal geometry is used here to achieve miniaturization and wideband performance. The self‐similarity dimension of proposed fractal geometry is 1.79, which is a fractional dimension. The antenna consists of two novel self‐similar fractal monopole‐antenna elements and their metallic area is minimized by 29.68% at second iteration. A ground stub of T‐shape with vertical slot enhances isolation and impedance bandwidth of proposed MIMO antenna. This antenna has a compact dimension of 24 × 32 mm2 and impedance bandwidth (S11 < ?10 dB) of 9.4 GHz ranging from 3.1 to 12.5 GHz with an isolation better than 16 dB. The various diversity performance parameters are also determined. There is good agreement between measured and simulated results, which confirms that the proposed antenna is acceptable for UWB applications.  相似文献

This article proposes a compact multiple‐input multiple‐output (MIMO) antenna with the electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures for mobile terminals. The proposed MIMO antenna is composed of two radiation patches in which diagonal and folded microstrip lines are utilized to control the frequency bands. The radiation patch, one EBG structure and a rectangular‐shaped ground plane are etched on both sides of the antenna. The EBG structures have been employed for reducing the mutual coupling between the antenna elements. As a result of the effect of these structures, the mutual coupling between the two elements is reduced by less than ?30 dB. The proposed antenna is implemented on an FR4 substrate with dimensions 20 × 10 × 1 mm3. According to measured results, frequency ranges of 2.2 to 3.6 GHz and 5.1 to 5.9 GHz with S11 < ?10 dB and also 3.7 to 5 GHz and 8 to 12 GHz with S22 < ?10 dB have been obtained. Moreover, measured S12 and S21 with values of less than ?30 dB for both Ports have been realized. Additionally, the envelope correlation and radiation efficiency of the purposed antenna are less than 0.09 and more than 82%, respectively.  相似文献

This research has proposed a planar rectangular dipole antenna enclosed in double C‐shaped parasitically slit elements (i.e., radiator element) on a double‐cornered reflector for bandwidth enhancement. In the study, simulations were first carried out to determine the optimal parameters of the radiator element and then a radiator element prototype was fabricated and mounted onto a double‐cornered aluminum reflector. The simulated and measured |S11|<–10 dB of the antenna element covered the frequency ranges of 451–901 MHz (66.6%) and 455–886 MHz (64.3%), respectively. The gain was enhanced by the subsequent deployment of multiple radiator elements to fabricate a four‐element vertically array antenna on an elongated double‐cornered reflector. This article presents the design of a novel astroid shaped dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) constructed from PTFE Teflon material with a dielectric constant of εr = 2.1 and a loss tangent tan δ = 0.0002 on an FR4 grounded substrate for LTE and ISM band applications. Inverted Omega ?-shaped feed along with asymmetric E-shaped dual metallic strips in the partial ground is used to obtain dual-band characteristics. A light weight, cost-effective plastic material is used to design the antenna. An isolation of 26.5 dB and 24.6 dB is achieved in the two frequency bands 1.8 GHz and 2.4 GHz respectively by modifying the ground plane. Metallic strips and stubs in the ground are used to enhance the isolation in the proposed MIMO system. The obtained impedance bandwidths in both the bands are 14.5% and 13%. The performance of the MIMO system is characterized by the envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain. Good agreement is found between simulated and measured results.  相似文献
