Ascot Racecourse – Stahl‐Kunststoff‐Sandwich für die Tribüne des neuen Grandstand

Die erste kommerzielle Tribünenanwendung mit dem Sandwich‐Plate‐System (SPS) – einem Stahl‐Kunststoff‐Sandwich‐System – konnte durchgeführt werden, weil besondere Umstände an dem gerade fertiggestellten Tribünengebäude der Pferderennbahn in Ascot [1] eine zusätzliche dringliche Anpassung erforderten. Ascot Racecourse – Steel‐plastic sandwich for the terrace of the new Grandstand. The first commercial application of the sandwich‐plate‐system (SPS) – a steel‐plastic sandwich system – could be carried out because special circumstances at the just completed building of the Grandstand at Ascot Racecourse [1] required additional urgent adjustments.

Investigation of the heave of the bottom of an excavation according to the new German Standard DIN 1054: 2003‐01. Introducing the new German Standard DIN 1054 in January 2003 it was necessary to adapt the investigation of the heave of the bottom of an excavation to the partial safety factor concept. The calculation procedure bases on the proposal of Weissenbach, which is well confirmed in practice within the frame of the global safety factor concept for many years. It was developed in the committee for excavations and is explained by several examples.

Fatigue behaviour of cable constructions. Since the construction of Olympia Center in Munich numerous cable construction were realised worldwide. Among static loads the fatigue behaviour of cable construction became more important. The Institute of Mechanical Handling and Logistics at the University of Stuttgart researches into cable technology since its foundation in 1927. The present paper shows the research work and explains criteria for endurance of cable types.     

Erweiterung des Stadions Innsbruck “Tivoli Neu” für die Fußballeuropameisterschaft 2008

Stadium Innsbruck “Tivoli Neu” extended for the European Football Championship 2008. Austria and Switzerland are the hosts of the European Football Championship EURO 2008. Each of both countries needs four stadiums with at least 30000 spectator seats. Innsbruck had a facility with a capacity of nearly 15000 seats. This existing stadium “Tivoli Neu” has therefore to be extended. The community of Innsbruck requests, that after the Championship the stadium has to be reconstructed into the original state.
