Fatty acid compositions of runner peanuts were determined among fifteen geographic localities from Córdoba, Argentina. Significant differences were found within these fatty acid profiles. Samples from the Reducción zone had the best oleic-to-linoleic ratio and iodine value.  相似文献

Alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherol (α-T, β-T, γ-T and σ-T) were determined in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars Florunner, Sunrunner, Southern Runner, AT-127, GK-7, NC-7, NC-9 and GK-3. There were significant differences in tocopherol content among runner- and virginia-type peanut cultivars, and these differences were affected by the degree of maturation. α-T decreased with maturation for all of the cultivars except Florunner. γ-T increased with maturation for GK-7, NC-9 and GK-3 but decreased for Florunner. For the mature nuts, Florunner and NC-9 had the highest levels of α-T while GK-3 and Southern Runner had the lowest levels. GK-7 and Sunrunner had the highest levels of γ-T, while the lowest levels were in Florunner and GK-3.  相似文献

Content, fatty acid composition, and glyceride profile of oil from seeds of seven basil (Ocimum sp.) chemotypes were determined. The species studied includedO. basilicum, O. canum, O. gratissimum, andO. sanctum. The oil content ranged from 18 to 26%, with triglycerides comprising between 94 and 98% of extracted neutral lipids. The major acylated fatty acids were linolenic (43.8–64.8%), linoleic (17.8–31.3%), oleic (8.5–13.3%), and palmitic acid (6.1–11.0%). Linolenic acid was similar among the fourO. basilicum chemotypes (57–62%), highest inO. canum (65%), and lowest inO. sanctum (44%). Basil seed oil appears suitable as an edible oil or can be used for industrial purposes, and could be processed in the same way as linseed oil. Preliminary calculations estimate that a hectare of basil could produce from 300 to 400 kg of seed oil.  相似文献

In three crop years (1986–1988), peanuts exported from Argentina, China and the United States were evaluated for biochemical composition relative to flavor and shelf-life quality potentials and physical size conformity. Relationships were consistent in that oil stability was associated with high tocopherol and oleic/linoleic acid ratio, and with low free fatty acid, peroxide, carbonyl, and copper and iron content. Peanuts from specific origins had recurring component patterns, with highest indications for shelf life and flavor potential in United States samples. Although no single factor or group of factors can be relied on completely as predictors of flavor or quality, these data establish a significant positive relationship between oil quality factors and roasted peanut flavor quality potential. Argentina and United States peanuts were the most consistently sized, and China peanuts generally had the lowest count/weight.  相似文献

Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) plant introductions (732) were analyzed for fatty acid composition. Palmitate varied from 8.2 to 15.1%, stearate 1.1 to 7.2%, oleate 31.5 to 60.2%, linoleate 19.9 to 45.4%, arachidate 0.8 to 3.2%, eicosenoate 0.6 to 2.6%, behenate 1.8 to 5.4%, and lignocerate 0.5 to 2.5%. The eicosenoate was shown to be cis-11-eicosenoate. In addition, epoxy fatty acids were found in many plant introductions in percentages ranging as high as 2.5%. These were tentatively identified as chiefly 9,10-epoxy stearate and coronarate with smaller amounts of vernolate. The percentage of palmitate was shown to be correlated positively with linoleate and negatively with oleate, eicosenoate, and lignocerate. Stearate was highly correlated with arachidate and negatively with eicosenoate and lignocerate. Oleate and linoleate, the two major fatty acids, were negatively correlated. Arachidate was negatively correlated with eicosenoate, and eicosenoate was positively correlated with lignocerate. Behenate and lignocerate were positively correlated. Epoxy esters were positively correlated with palmitate and negatively with oleate. Segregation of the plant introductions by axis flower, growth habit, and pod types showed significant differences that reflected the same fatty acid groupings revealed by the correlations.  相似文献

Fatty acid and tocopherol contents and oxidative stability of walnut oils   总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7  
Walnuts (Juglans regia L.) were collected during the 1997 harvest from 13 different cultivars of trees grown in a replicated trial in an experimental orchard at Lincoln University. Two U.S. commercial cultivars (Tehama and Vina), three European commercial cultivars (Esterhazy, G139, G120), and eight New Zealand selections (Rex, Dublin’s Glory, Meyric, Stanley, Mckinster, 150, 151, 153) were evaluated. Total lipids were analyzed for fatty acids by capillary gas chromatography, tocopherols by high-performance liquid chromatography, and oxidation stability by Rancimat. The total oil content of the nuts ranged from 64.2 to 68.9% while the stability of the oil ranged from 3.9 to 7.8 h. The oleic acid content of the oils ranged from 12.7 to 20.4% of the total fatty acids, while 18:2 content ranged from 57.0 to 62.5% and the 18:3 contents ranged from 10.7 to 16.2%. Reduced stability of the oil as measured by the Rancimat method appears to be correlated to higher levels of 18:2 in the extracted oil. The total tocopherol contents of these nuts ranged from 268.5 to 436.0 μg/g oil. γ-Tocopherol dominated the profile while α-tocopherol was only 6% of the total content. Peroxide values of the fresh oil were measured spectrophotometrically to give an indication of the overall stability. The levels of total tocopherols when combined with the level of unsaturation in the oil in a multiple regression analysis had a significant relationship (R 2=45.2%, P<0.001) with the peroxide value in the oil. The effect of phosphorus (P) fertilization on dry matter production and nitrogen (N) uptake of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) was studied during the growing seasons of 1989, 1990 and 1991 under rainfed conditions on an acid sandy soil in Niger, West Africa. Annual application of 16 kg P ha–1 as single superphosphate (SSP) failed to increase the total dry matter production significantly in all three years.Fertilization with SSP increased the concentrations of P and sulfur (S) in shoots from deficiency to sufficiency levels. It decreased the already very low concentrations of molybdenum (Mo), especially in the nodules, and also the N concentration in the shoot dry matter.With SSP application, total N uptake declined over three years. Foliar application of P and soil application of triple superphosphate (TSP) enhanced dry matter production, N and Mo uptake.Although these acid sandy soils are known to be deficient in P and S, care must be taken in using SSP in groundnuts as it may induce Mo deficiency, unless supplementary Mo is applied.ICRISAT Journal Article No. 1230  相似文献

Genetic diversity for lipid content and fatty acid profile in rice bran   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) bran contains valuable nutritional constituents, which include lipids with health benefits. A germplasm collection consisting of 204 genetically diverse rice accessions was grown under field conditions and evaluated for total oil content and fatty acid (FA) composition. Genotype effects were highly statistically significant for lipid content and FA profile (P<0.001). Environment (year) significantly affected oil content (P<0.05), as well as stearic, oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids (all with P<0.01 or lower), but not palmitic acid. The oil content in rice bran varied relatively strongly, ranging from 17.3 to 27.4% (w/w). The major FA in bran oil were palmitic, oleic, and linoleic acids, which were in the ranges of 13.9–22.1, 35.9–49.2, and 27.3–41.0%, respectively. The ratio of saturated to unsaturated FA (S/U ratio) was highly related to the palmitic acid content (r 2=0.97). Japonica lines were characterized by a low palmitic acid content and S/U ratio, whereas Indica lines showed a high palmitic acid content and a high S/U ratio. The variation found suggests it is possible to select for both oil content and FA profile in rice bran.  相似文献

The kernel oil content, kernel FA and TAG composition, kernel moisture content, and kernel weight as well as fruit weight of three almond cultivars (Achaak, Mazetto, and Perlees) were monitored during the maturation of kernels. Lipid fractions of all almond samples were extracted using a mixture of chloroform and methanol. FAMF and TAG contained in these fractions were analyzed by GC and HPLC, respectively. The ratio of kernel to fruit weight appears to be a good indicator of almond kernel development. The total lipid content of developing almond kernels exhibited a sigmoidal pattern with time, similar to seeds and kernels of other higher plants; the cultivar Achaak showed a higher rate of lipid accumulation. The proportion of eleic acid (0) dominated at the later stage of maturation for all three almond cultivars. Although there was no significant difference in the FA composition for the three cultivars studied, marked differences were observed in their TAG profiles. Ten TAG species identified were LLL, LLO, LnOO, LOO, LOP, PLP, OOO, POO, POP, and SOO, where L represents linoleic acid; Ln, linolenic acid; P, palmitic acid; and S, stearic acid. The difference in the TAG profile can be useful for distinguishing various cultivars. The oil of Mazetto cultivar kernes exhibited a TAG composition comparable to that of olive oil.  相似文献

Fatty acid profiles and iodine values of tigernut tubers (Cyperus esculentus L.), decorticated seeds of the baobab tree (Adansonia digitata L.), and their mixture (one part of tigernut to three parts of baobab seeds, w/w) were chromatographically and chemically determined. All three samples contained myristic acid as the main saturated acid and oleic acid as the predominant unsaturated acid. Linoleic acid was present in the samples to the extent of 8.8–27.4%, and no other polyunsaturated acids were found. The vegetable oil mixture had the highest level of linoleate, and its possible significance in relation to the intended use in novel food formulation is discussed.  相似文献

Genotypic differences in absorption or utilization of P might be exploited to improve efficiency of fertilizer use or to obtain higher productivity on P-deficient soils. The objective of this study was to evaluate responses by 75 genotypes of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) to two soil P levels in two field experiments. In the first experiment, soil P levels (Mehlich 1) were 1.5 mg kg–1 and 5 mg kg–1, and in the second experiment, 3 mg kg–1 and 4.7 mg kg–1 of soil, respectively. Rice cultivars differed significantly in shoot dry matter production at flowering, grain yield, and plant P status. Based on a grain yield efficiency index, cultivars were classified as P-efficient or P-inefficient. Shoot dry matter was more sensitive to P-deficiency but was not related to grain yield. Phosphorus use efficiency was higher under the low P treatment. Phosphorus uptake was significantly correlated with dry matter, P concentration and P-efficiency ratio. This paper reports the fatty acid and triacylglycerol (TAG) compositions of five Amaranthus accessions (RRC1011, R149, A.K343, A.K432, and A. K433) representing two species and a cross between one of these and a third species. Seed oils of these were analyzed by gas chromatography and reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography, and their compositional properties compared with buck-wheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), corn (Zea mays), rice bran (Oryza sativa), soybean (Glycine max L. Merr.), sesame (Sesamum indicum), quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa), and cottonseed (Gossypium hirsutum) oils. All Amaranthus accessions were relatively high in palmitic (21.4–23.8%) and low in oleic (22.8–31.5%) and linolenic (0.65–0.93%) acids when compared to most of the grain and seed oils. The fatty acid composition of Amaranthus accessions K343, K433, and K432 (group I) were different from R149 and RRC1011 (group II) in mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids, but the saturate/unsaturate (S/U) ratios were very similar. All Amaranthus accessions were similar in TAG type, but showed slight differences in percentage. High similarities in UUU, UUS, and USS composition were observed among Amaranthus K343, K433 and K432, and between R149 and RRC1011. The fatty acid compositions of Amaranthus oil (group I) and cottonseed oil were similar, but their TAG compositions were different. The grain and oilseed oils were different from each other and from the Amaranthus accessions oils in terms of fatty acid composition, S/U, and TAG ratios. The UUU, UUS, and USS percentages were very diverse in grain and seed oils. The percentages of squalene in the TAG sample from the Amaranthus accessions were 8.05% in K343, 11.10% in K433, 11.19% in K432, 9.96% in R149, and 9.16% in RRC1011. Squalene was also tentatively identified in quinoa and ricebran oils at levels of 3.39 and 3.10%, respectively.  相似文献

An approach is presented for simulating the uptake of S, P and N by a perennial pasture, based upon diffusion theory and plant uptake kinetics. Plant uptake was limited by either (i) diffusion to the root, (ii) root uptake capacity, or (iii) plant demand. For S and P, uptake as limited by diffusion was calculated from the nutrient depletion pattern around the root, which is dependent upon soil diffusivity for the anion, and the length of time since the root grew into the new soil. To avoid time-consuming calculations at various uptake times and distances from the root, the nutrient depletion pattern was simplified into an effective rooting radius, whereby all plant-available nutrient within the radius was made available to the plant over a 30 day period, and none from outside the radius. Mycorrhizal enhancement of P uptake was simulated by increasing the radius by a factor of between 1 and 3 when P was the primary limiting nutrient. Limitations (ii) and (iii) were included for S and P for the rare occasions when nutrient concentrations were high either in a single layer, or in the profile overall. For N, uptake was limited by uptake capacity, adjusted for soil N concentration, root length density and soil moisture content.Because of a lack of data on diffusion coefficients close to the plant root, a calibration factor was applied to the effective rooting radius, which is described in the second paper in the series.  相似文献

The production of labdanum exudate byCistus ladanifer L. is highly seasonal, reaching a maximum concentration during summer and a minimum concentration in winter. Because this exudate strongly absorbs in the wavelength range of 260–400 nm (the near-UV-visible range), it may be important biologically as an UV-visible filter. Separation of exudate components has been achieved by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).The retention times of HPLC chromatograms and the spectral characteristics (absorption and fluorescence) of the exudate identify flavonoids as the most relevant chromophores regarding the potency of the exudate as a UV-visible filter. HPLC studies show that kaempferol-3-(O)methyl, kaempferol-3,7-di(O)methyl, and apigenin-4-(O)methyl are the most enriched flavonoids in the exudate.Other flavonoids [apigenin, apigenin-7-(O)methyl, apigenin-7,4-di(O)methyl, kaempferol-3,4-di(O)methyl and kaempferol-3,7,4-tri(O)methyl] are present in the exudate as minor components, e.g., each contributes by less than 10% to total flavonoids.The ratio of kaempferols to apigenins of the exudate also shows seasonal variation (maximum value in summer and minimum in spring). However, due to the similar absorption spectra of both groups of flavonoids, this has a minor influence on the exudate's ability to filter near-UV-visible radiation.  相似文献

Composition in fatty acids of the pericarp and seeds of two new pepper fruits (Capsicum annuum L. cv. Jaranda and Jariza) and the effects of different processing stages on the fatty acid composition of these tissues and of paprika are shown. In the pericarp the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), linoleic and linolenic, both in the same proportion, are the major acids; in the seed, linoleic is in a very high concentration as compared to in the pericarp. In the pericarp, a storage zone of carotenoid pigments, linolenic acid does not participate in the carotenoid esterification process. From the different lipid patterns, nutritional aspects are deduced. In the drying step the concentrations of constituent fatty acids are constant in the seed, while in the pericarp there is a net increase in the total content of fatty acids.  相似文献

Rumex crispus L. seeds harvested in Olavarría (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) were extracted with 60–80°C petroleum ether to render 6.0% (dry basis) of a lipid fraction with a 152.4 saponification value and 15.4% unsaponifiable matter. Fatty acid composition obtained by gas-liquid chromatography was: 14:0, 2.7; 16:0, 13.5; 16:1, 1.2; 18:0, 1.2; 18:1, 38.6; 18:2, 36.3; 18:3, 0.5; 20:0, 2.4; 20:2, 0.3; 22:0, 0.9; 22:1, 1.2; and 24:0, 1.2; with traces of 14:1, 15:1, 17:0, and 17:1. Residual meal contained 10.62% crude protein, with a low value of available lysine (3.31 g/16 g N). Ash, crude fiber, sugars, hydrolyzable carbohydrates, total and phytic acid phosphorus, calcium and residual lipids contents are reported here.  相似文献

Alpha-terthienyl (-T), a naturally occurring polyacetylene derivative from roots ofTagetes erecta L., and phenylheptatriyne (PHT), from leaves ofBidens pilosa L., were tested as possible allelopathic agents against four seedling species (Asclepias syriaca L.,Chenopodium album L.,Phleum pratense L.,Trifolium pratense L.).Asclepias was the most sensitive of the species. Allelopathic activity was enhanced in the presence of sunlight or sources of near-UV, with LC50s forA. syriaca of 0.15 ppm and 0.66 ppm with -T and PHT, respectively; 0.27 and 0.85 forC. album; 0.79 and 1.43 forP. pratense, and 1.93 and 1.82 forT. pratense. Near-UV exposure was saturating but never more than found in summer sunlight at Ottawa, Canada. Growth inhibition was observed with seedlings treated with -T and PHT but without near-UV irradiation. Germination of seedlings was also sensitive to -T and PHT with or without near-UV treatment. -T was extracted from soil surrounding the roots ofTagetes. Concentrations calculated for the soil (0.4 ppm) indicate that seedling growth could be significantly hindered. The activity and specificity of -T was sufficiently high to warrant future field trials to assess its potential as a natural weed-control agent.  相似文献

Fatty acid (FA) profile of fish tissue mirrors dietary FA profile and changes in a time-dependent manner following a change in dietary FA composition. To determine whether FA profile change varies among lipid classes, we evaluated the FA composition of fillet cholesteryl esters (CE), phospholipids (PL), and triacylglycerols (TAG) of sunshine bass (SB, Morone chrysops x M. saxatilis) raised on feeds containing fish oil or 50:50 blend of fish oil and coconut, grapeseed, linseed, or poultry oil, with or without implementation of a finishing period (100% FO feed) prior to harvest. Each lipid class was associated with a generalized FA signature, irrespective of nutritional history: fillet PL was comprised largely of saturated FA (SFA), long-chain polyunsaturated FA (LC-PUFA), and total n-3 FA; fillet TAG was higher in MC-PUFA and total n-6 FA; and fillet CE was highest in monounsaturated FA (MUFA). Neutral lipids reflected dietary composition in a near-direct fashion; conversely, PL showed evidence of selectivity for MC- and LC-PUFA. Shorter-chain SFA were not strongly reflected within any lipid fraction, even when dietary availability was high, suggesting catabolism of these FA. FA metabolism in SB is apparently characterized by a division between saturated and unsaturated FA, whereby LC-PUFA are preferentially incorporated into tissues and SFA are preferentially oxidized for energy production. We demonstrated provision of SFA in grow-out feeds for SB, instead MC-PUFA which compete for tissue deposition, meets energy demands and allows for maximum inclusion of LC-PUFA within fillet lipids.  相似文献

In the phytogeographic region of the Arid Chaco, in Las Oscuras, Province of Cordoba, Argentina, the production of jojoba seed under four levels of irrigation was evaluated during two years. The plants used were established by direct sowing with seeds from the Tucson Mountains, outside Tucson, Arizona, four years before the test started. The plants were not irrigated until the test began. The treatments were: T1=0; T2=300; T3=600; and T4=900 mm/ha/year, in twelve equal irrigations, applied every 30 d. The experimental design used was randomized complete blocks with two replications (30 plants in each replication). Each of the variables was compared by analysis of variance, and means were subjected to Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test. For the conditions of this test, the results obtained suggest that: (i) seed production of jojoba plants increased significantly with high levels of water applied monthly (treatments T3=600 mm and T4=900 mm); (ii) The most efficient irrigation treatment was T3; (iii) Jojoba plants respond to high levels of irrigation (T4=900 mm) and produce the heaviest seeds under these conditions; (iv) an increase in water does not produce significant differences in fatty acid content, but it may change from year to year; and (v) increased jojoba yields can be achieved on dry-farm plantations by applying irrigation.  相似文献
