A study of the depth of jet penetration (or depth of cut) in abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting of alumina ceramics with controlled nozzle oscillation is presented and discussed. An experimental investigation is carried out first to study the effects of nozzle oscillation at small angles on the depth of cut under different combinations of process parameters. Based on the test conditions, it is found that nozzle oscillation at small angles can improve the depth of cut by as much as 82% if the cutting parameters are correctly selected. Depending on the other cutting parameters in this study, it is found that a high oscillation frequency (10–14 Hz) with a low oscillation angle (4–6°) can maximize the depth of cut. Using a dimensional analysis technique, predictive models for jet penetration when cutting alumina ceramics with and without nozzle oscillation are finally developed and verified. It is found that the model predictions are in good agreement with the experimental results with the average percentage errors of less than 2.5%.  相似文献

An experimental investigation is presented to increase the depth of cut in abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting of alumina ceramics by introducing a new cutting technique combining multipass operations with controlled nozzle oscillation. Plausible trends of the depth of cut per pass and total depth of cut with respect to the number of passes and the parameters in each pass are discussed. It shows that cutting with nozzle oscillation can significantly increase the depth of cut in the single-pass cutting mode, while further gains in the depth of cut can be made by using multipass cutting with nozzle oscillation. While multipass cutting can be used to increase the total depth of cut for machining thicker materials, it has been found that an average increase of 50.8% in the total depth of cut can be expected by using multipass cutting with nozzle oscillation as compared to single-pass cutting without nozzle oscillation within the same cutting time. Recommendations are finally made as a practical guide for the selection of process parameters in multipass AWJ cutting of alumina ceramics with controlled nozzle oscillation.  相似文献

An experimental study is carried out for single-pass radial-mode abrasive waterjet (AWJ) turning of a short carbon–fiber-reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK) specimen to understand the machining process and the effects of major process variables (feed speed, water pressure, abrasive mass flow rate, nozzle tilt angle, and rotational surface speed) on the major machining performance measures, that is, the depth of cut, material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness. It is found that high water pressure, normal nozzle impact angle and high rotational speed with suitably selected feed speed and abrasive flow rate may be selected to achieve a high MRR without significantly compromising the surface roughness. Mathematical models for the three cutting performance measures are then developed for use in process control.  相似文献

The modelling process starts with single pass cutting using a dimensional analysis technique and the particle erosion theories applied to alumina ceramics, before progressing to the development of the models for multipass cutting. The models are finally assessed both qualitatively and quantitatively with experimental data. 为了进一步研究高压水除鳞喷嘴的射流性能,优化喷嘴的结构参数,选取出口扩张角、锥孔深度、入口收缩角作为参考因素,以喷射角和射流流量作为评价指标,对喷嘴各参考因素对射流性能的影响进行了仿真分析。结合正交试验的方法,对喷嘴各结构参数及其交互作用对其性能影响的显著性及重要性次序进行分析,获得最优的参数组合并对其进行了实验验证。结果表明:出口扩张角的增大会使喷射角减小但会使射流流量增加,锥孔深度的增加可以较为全面地提升喷嘴的射流性能,收缩角的增大会使得喷嘴的射流性能减弱,喷嘴的除鳞效果变差;3个参考因素中锥孔深度是对射流性能影响最大的因素;当出口扩张角为80°、锥孔深度为8 mm、入口收缩角为65°时喷嘴的射流性能最优。通过将参数优化后的喷嘴的实验结果与原始喷嘴的实验结果对比发现,优化后喷嘴的喷射角由原始值35.7°提升至44.1°,射流流量的大小由原始值10.17 L/min提升至28.3 L/min。  相似文献

Abrasive waterjet cutting is a novel machining process capable of processing wide range of hard-to-cut materials. Surface roughness of machined parts is one of the major machining characteristics that play an important role in determining the quality of engineering components. This paper shows the influence of process parameters on surface roughness (Ra) which is an important cutting performance measure in abrasive waterjet cutting of aluminium. Taguchi’s design of experiments was carried out in order to collect surface roughness values. Experiments were conducted in varying water pressure, nozzle traverse speed, abrasive mass flow rate and standoff distance for cutting aluminium using abrasive waterjet cutting process. Dry machining is sometimes less effective when higher machining efficiency, better surface finish quality, and severe cutting conditions are required. For these situations, semi-dry operations utilizing very small amount of cutting fluids called minimum quantity lubrication is expected to become a powerful tool and played a significant role in a number of practical applications. It has been observed from the literature survey that a systematic research work has to be carried out to determine the optimum quantity of lubricant with appropriate cutting conditions for achieving better machinability characteristics of a material. Hence, an attempt has been made in this paper to enhance the machinability characteristics in high speed turning of superalloy Inconel 718 using quantity of lubricant, delivery pressure at the nozzle, frequency of pulses, direction of application of cutting fluid, cutting speed, and feed rate as the process parameters. Results indicated that the use of optimized minimum quantity lubrication parameters under pulsed jet mode leads to lower cutting force, cutting temperature, and flank wear.  相似文献

In the process of abrasive water jet cutting, the change of nozzle diameter, due to nozzle wearing throughout cutting process, causes a decrease in surface quality and an increase in kerf width. In this paper, a series of experiments have been done to determine the effect of process parameters and the results show that traverse speed and nozzle diameter are significant parameters on the kerf quality and geometry, and a control program algorithm is suggested to compensate the effect of nozzle diameter increase on cut surface quality and kerf width and the control program creates an offset with required amount in nozzle path.  相似文献

喷嘴结构及射流运动参数对液体空化流动状态有重要影响。基于空化泡溃灭的雾化机理和自激振荡脉冲喷嘴出口流道空化过程,分析空化效应对自激振荡脉冲射流雾化效果的影响。依据自激振荡脉冲雾化喷嘴结构,分析射流来流速度和脉动压力对喷嘴出口流道空化效应的影响,提出利用来流雷诺数和脉动特征值表征喷嘴出口流道空化程度,并根据自激振荡脉冲喷嘴有限元分析得到喷嘴出口流道较好空化状态的来流雷诺数和喷嘴腔室长径比。研究结果表明:当来流雷诺数在2.14×10~5~3.05×10~5内逐渐增大时,自激振荡脉冲雾化喷嘴出口流道液相体积分数先减小后增大,相应的空化程度先增大后减小。雷诺数在2.44×10~5~2.75×10~5内可以使喷嘴出口流道形成较好空化效应,尤其在2.44×10~5附近时喷嘴出口流道出现最好的空化状态;脉动特征值与喷嘴出口流道处脉动压力幅值差成正比,随着自激振荡脉冲雾化喷嘴腔室长径比增大,脉动压力幅值差值先减小后增大。当喷嘴腔室长径比为0.60~0.70时,喷嘴出口流道空化状态较好。计算结果为自激振荡脉冲射流雾化喷嘴设计提供了理论依据。  相似文献

Gear skiving has received considerable attention because of its high productivity, particularly in internal gear cutting, and skiving cutter design methods have been widely investigated. At the beginning of a cutter design process, a shaft angle, a center distance, and the number of teeth are examined as basic parameters for cutting gears. In current gear skiving, a shaft angle is generally set to be approximately 20°; however, the reason for selecting this value has not been clarified. In the present study, the validity of the value of shaft angle is discussed by calculating the cutting tool parameters, such as instantaneous rake angles, clearance angles, cut depths, and cutting speeds at continuously moving cutting points against various shaft angles. Therefore, the widely used value of shaft angle would result in moderate cutting tool parameters. In addition, the cutting force and cutter wear would be low when a cutter axis inclines opposite to the gear helix to be cut.  相似文献

提出利用喷嘴的真空效应回收和利用切削加工过程中油雾润滑产生的雾粒.分析和测试了喷嘴的真空特性,设计了一套基于喷嘴油雾回收系统.采用传统切削、干切削、微量润滑切削以及配有真空回收的微量润滑系统切削对高强度钢(PCrNi3Mo)进行切削试验,结果表明,基于喷嘴的真空回收系统不仅可以降低工作区的油雾量,还可将油雾重复利用并使切削性能得到进一步提高.  相似文献

为研究钛合金车削过程中鳞刺生成规律及有效抑制措施,分析了影响鳞刺生成的主要因素,采用弯矩法解析了鳞刺折断规律,进而建立了切削参数、刀具几何参数与刀尖弯矩的数学描述模型;通过MATLAB对模型进行求解,获知切削速度对刀尖弯矩的影响最小,而切削深度、进给量、刀尖圆弧以及刀具主偏角4个因素决定了刀尖弯矩的大小。为验证描述模型的正确性,进行了典型钛合金TC17外圆周断续切削实验,采集在恒定切削速度、不同切削深度、不同进给量、不同主偏角及不同刀尖圆弧条件下的鳞刺样本数据,并获得鳞刺折断规律曲线。实验结果表明:在小于临界切削深度和大于临界进给量条件下,实验结果与数学描述模型整体趋势一致,证明了数学描述模型的正确性。研究结果可为钛合金的高品质加工提供工艺技术及刀具优选方面的数据支撑。  相似文献

Bone sawing has been widely used in performing bone surgery. However, thermal necrosis, loss of cutting precision and surface damage may occur in cutting process. The primary objective of this research is to improve cutting performance of bone by advantages of diamond wire sawing. Mechanism of material removal, cutting force, temperature and surface quality are analyzed based on experimental results. It is indicated that wire sawing provides small depth of cut, which is effective to obtain ductile material removal mode. Due to small material removal rate per abrasive, thermal energy is low and most of the heat can be taken away by the cyclic wire and bone chips. Consequently, cutting force and temperature in cutting zone are lower than that of traditional sawing. Due to the high efficiency of chip ejection, burrs and fracture are reduced and a significant improvement in surface quality is achieved. Based on cutting experiments with various values of cutting parameters, it is observed that better performance is achievable at higher wire speeds. These results provide a valuable basis for application of wire sawing and understanding of bone cutting mechanisms.  相似文献

分析喷嘴冲蚀磨损特点,指出喷嘴的不同部位同时受到不同角度的冲击;磨料颗粒在喷嘴内部加速运动,喷嘴沿长度方向的磨损程度不同,喷嘴人口磨损最严重,出口次之,而中间区域磨损相对较轻。阐述陶瓷喷嘴冲蚀磨损机理,说明陶瓷喷嘴两端承受以高冲击角为主的冲蚀,磨损机理以应力疲劳断裂和脆性断裂为主;喷嘴中部承受低角冲蚀,微切削冲蚀磨损为其主要磨损机理,得到喷嘴磨损属于多冲蚀磨损机理并存的结论。在此基础上,提出均质材料难以适应喷嘴冲蚀磨损特点,不易满足喷嘴高抗冲蚀磨损性能要求的观点。基于梯度功能技术思想首次提出梯度功能喷嘴设计方法,并建立梯度功能喷嘴设计模型。  相似文献
