When both sexes of the bark beetle,Dendroctonus brevicomis LeConte, were exposed to vapors of myrcene from ponderosa pine, only the male produced (+)-ipsdienol. In the field, racemic ipsdienol significantly reduced the attraction of both sexes in flight to a mixture of myrcene and the aggregation pheromones,exo-brevicomin and frontalin. This suggests that ipsdienol may be involved in regulating colonization density ofD. brevicomis. The implications of the biosynthesis of various enantiomers of ipsdienol byD. brevicomis and the cohabitating bark beetles,Ips paraconfusus andI. pini, in relation to their behavioral responses are discussed in regard to reducing interspecific competition.Coleoptera: Scolytidae.  相似文献

The citrus leafminer is an important vector of citrus canker in many of the major citrus production areas of the world. (7Z,11Z)-Hexadecadienal was reported as a sex attractant for this insect in the 1980s, based on trap catches during pheromone screening trials in Japan. However, attempts to reproduce this work in other areas of the world have not been successful. We report here that (7Z,11Z)-hexadecadienal is only one component of the pheromone, with the other critical component being the analogous trienal, (7Z,11Z,13E)-hexadecatrienal. Both compounds were identified in the effluvia from live female moths by coupled gas chromatography (GC)-electroantennography using nonpolar and polar GC columns, and the identifications were confirmed by comparisons of mass spectra with those of authentic standards. Stereoisomers of the two compounds, and a number of analogs, were synthesized to confirm the identifications. In field trials, neither compound alone was attractive to male moths, but blends of the two were highly attractive, with thousands of insects being caught per trial. Addition of the isomeric (7Z,11Z,13Z)-hexadecatrienal inhibited attraction to the two-component blend. The sex pheromone of the Comstock mealybug,Pseudococcus comstocki (Kuwana) was isolated from volatiles trapped from air passing over virgin female insects. Combined gas chromatography, mass and infrared spectroscopy, and microreactions indicated that the structure was 2,6-dimethyl-1,5-heptadien-3-ol acetate. This was confirmed by synthesis; several analogs were also prepared. The natural and synthetic pheromone caused similar trap capture of male insects. Synthetic analogs were significantly less attractive in field tests and the addition of minor amounts of the corresponding alcohol to the pheromone appeared to enhance trap capture, but the results were not statistically conclusive.  相似文献

The fate of the dietary terpene, p-cymene, is reported in a specialist Eucalyptus leaf folivore, the koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). Six male koalas were given two single oral doses of p-cymene (0.37 mmol/kg and 1.49 mmol/kg). Urine and feces were collected for two 24-hr periods after each dose and analyzed for metabolites by extraction, gas chromatography, and mass spectrometry. A total of six metabolites were detected in the urine. A novel, extensively oxidized metabolite, 4-(1,2-dihydroxy-1-methylethyl)-benzoic acid, was identified and its structure elucidated by high resolution and chemical ionization mass spectrometry. Minor amounts of two glycine conjugated metabolites were also detected. Five metabolites were present in sufficient amounts to quantify, using isolated urinary metabolites as reference standards. The mean fractional recovery of administered p-cymene was 0.77 ± 0.09 and 0.84 ± 0.12 for the low and high dose, respectively. The major metabolite excreted was the novel carboxy diol compound. No fecal metabolites were found. Thus, the koala employs a strategy in the metabolism of p-cymene that promotes the production of extensively oxidized metabolites that consequently have increased polarity and enhanced renal excretion. This strategy is compared with that employed by other Eucalyptus leaf folivores.  相似文献

在稳态模拟的基础上,研究了用于苯、甲苯、二甲苯分离的隔壁塔的控制策略和动态特性。动态模拟中采用继电反馈法和Tyreus-Luyben准则进行PID参数整定,在Aspen Dynamic平台上,对比分析了DB/LSV、DV/LSB、LB/DSV和LV/DSB 4种典型组成控制策略的动态特性,并重点考察了LV/DSB基础上的温度控制、温度组成联合控制和温度组成串级控制策略。结果表明,当出现进料组成或流率干扰时,隔壁塔具有很好的可控性,调节时间TS最短至2.97 h,产品质量要求与设定值之间的摩尔最大偏差A最低至0.0015。  相似文献

Laboratory experiments were carried out to study the effect of various factors that affect the efficacy of the nitrification inhibitors, benzotriazole, o-nitrophenol, m-nitroaniline and dicyandiamide. In a Paleustalf, increasing concentrations of the inhibitors from 0 to 15 mg/kg soil prolonged the nitrification up to 60 days. Increase in temperature from 10 to 30°C decreased the efficacy of all four nitrification inhibitors (by 6–62% at 30 days). Benzotriazole was equally effective in soil moisture conditions ranging from 40 to 80% of the maximum water holding capacity of the soil (WHC). o-Nitrophenol and m-nitroaniline were more effective at 60% WHC, while the efficacy of DCD was more at 40% WHC. Addition of 1000 mg/kg soil of fresh organic matter reduced the efficacies of o-nitrophenol, m-nitroaniline and benzotriazole by 55, 65 and 22%, respectively while the reduction in the efficacy of dicyandiamide was non-significant. Liming an acidic soil (Kandiustalf) to change the pH from 5.4 to 8.3 decreased the efficacies of the nitrification inhibitors and decreased the ammonium content in the soil at 30 days from 55 to 9 mg/kg in case of o-nitrophenol and m-nitroaniline and from 53 to 35 mg/kg in case of benzotriazole and dicyandiamide.  相似文献

From the perspective of bond relaxation and bond vibration, we have formulated the Raman phonon relaxation of graphene, under the stimuli of the number-of-layers, the uni-axial strain, the pressure, and the temperature, in terms of the response of the length and strength of the representative bond of the entire specimen to the applied stimuli. Theoretical unification of the measurements clarifies that: (i) the opposite trends of the Raman shifts, which are due to the number-of-layers reduction, of the G-peak shift and arises from the vibration of a pair of atoms, while the D- and the 2D-peak shifts involve the z-neighbor of a specific atom; (ii) the tensile strain-induced phonon softening and phonon-band splitting arise from the asymmetric response of the C(3v) bond geometry to the C(2v) uni-axial bond elongation; (iii) the thermal softening of the phonons originates from bond expansion and weakening; and (iv) the pressure stiffening of the phonons results from bond compression and work hardening. Reproduction of the measurements has led to quantitative information about the referential frequencies from which the Raman frequencies shift as well as the length, energy, force constant, Debye temperature, compressibility and elastic modulus of the C-C bond in graphene, which is of instrumental importance in the understanding of the unusual behavior of graphene.  相似文献

Plant cryptochromes (CRYs) are blue-light receptors that regulate light-dependent growth, development, and circadian rhythms. A flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) cofactor is bound to the photolyase homology region (PHR) of plant CRYs and can be photoreduced to a neutral radical state under blue light. This photoreaction can trigger subsequent signal transduction. Plant CRYs can also bind an ATP molecule adjacent to FAD in a pocket of the PHR. Chlamydomonas reinhardtii contains a single plant CRY, named Chlamydomonas photolyase homologue 1 (CPH1). In CPH1, Cys392 and Asp393 are located near the FAD cofactor. Here we have shown that replacing Cys392 with Ser has little effect on the properties of CPH1. The C392N mutant, however, showed a faster photoreduction rate than wild-type CPH1, together with a significantly lower oxidation rate of the neutral radical state. Substituting an Asn residue for Asp393 in CPH1 improved the binding affinity for FAD as well as the stability of the neutral radical, but photoreduction in the case of this mutant was severely inhibited. In the presence of ATP, CPH1 and its mutants exhibited significantly higher binding affinity for FAD and slower oxidation of the neutral radical. These results reveal that the residues at site 392 and the presence of ATP can tune the stability of the neutral radical, that the Asp residue at site 393 is crucial for photoreduction, and that the photoreduction rate is not determined merely by the stability of the neutral radical in CPH1.  相似文献

Ferritin possesses an immune function to defend against pathogen infection. To elucidate the immunity-protecting roles of ferritin from Ctenopharyngodon idellus (Ciferritin) against virus infection, the cDNA and promoter sequences of Ciferritin were determined, and the correlations between Ciferrtin expressions and promoter methylation levels were analyzed. In addition, the functional role of Ciferrtin on GCRV (grass carp reovirus) infection was assessed. The full-length cDNA of Ciferritin is 1053 bp, consists of a 531 bp open-reading frame, and encodes 176 amino acids. Ciferritin showed the highest sequence identity with the ferritin middle subunit of Mylopharyngodon piceus (93.56%), followed by the subunits of Megalobrama amblycephala and Sinocyclocheilus rhinocerous. Ciferritin contains a conserved ferritin domain (interval: 10–94 aa), and the caspase recruitment domain (CARD) and Rubrerythrin domain were also predicted. In the spleen and kidney, significantly higher Ciferritin expressions were observed at 6, 12, 24, or 168 h post GCRV infection than those in the PBS injection group (p < 0.05). The Ciferrtin expression level in the progeny of maternal-immunized grass carp was significantly higher than that in the progeny of common grass carp (p < 0.05). Ciferritin promoter methylation level in the progeny from common grass carp was 1.27 ± 0.15, and in the progeny of the maternal-immunized group was 1.00 ± 0.14. In addition, methylation levels of “CpG9” and “CpG10” loci were significantly lower in the progeny of maternal-immunized fish than those in the common group. Except for the “CpG5”, methylation levels of all other detected “CpG” loci negatively correlated with Ciferritin expression levels. Furthermore, the total methylation level of “CpG1–10” negatively correlated with the Ciferritin expressions. The Ciferritin expression level was significantly up-regulated, and the VP7 protein levels were significantly reduced, at 24 h post GCRV infection in the Ciferritin over-expression cells (p < 0.05). The results from the present study provide sequence, epigenetic modification and expression, and anti-GCRV functional information of Ciferritin, which provide a basis for achieving resistance to GCRV in grass carp breeding.  相似文献

Rapid developments in information technologies and a large rise in electrical and electronic equipment have generated different forms of electronic environmental contamination. Microwave absorption materials are important to avoid the damage that can be caused by electromagnetic radiation. A necessary condition for the absorption of the most incoming radiation is balanced wave impedance at the air/shield interface, which depends on the studied materials' magnetic and electrical properties. The paper introduces the preparation of BaFe12-xZrxO19 (x = 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, and 1.2) using a solid-state reaction technique. The studied samples were examined by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, and a vector network analyzer. The studied samples showed that controlling the grain size and the prepared samples' magnetic properties play an important role in enhancing the microwave radiation absorption. The examined samples can be a promising absorption material in electromagnetic shielding applications.  相似文献

The role of semiochemicals in mediating intraguild interactions between the seven-spot ladybird, Coccinella septempunctata, and the aphid parasitoid, Aphidius ervi, was investigated. Female parasitoids avoided leaves visited by C. septempunctata adults and larvae during the previous 24 hr. Ethanol extracts of C. septempuntata adults and larvae also induced avoidance responses by A. ervi. Two of the hydrocarbons identified by gas chromatography (GC) and coupled GC-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), n-tricosane (C23H48), and n-pentacosane (C25H52), when tested individually at levels found in the adult extract, induced avoidance by A. ervi. Further investigation of the larvae extract, and footprint chemicals deposited by adults in glass Petri dishes, confirmed the presence of the hydrocarbons. Parasitism rates of the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, on broad bean plants, Vicia faba, which had been sprayed with a mixture of the chemicals, were lower than those on control plants. The effect, however, was no longer evident if parasitoid foraging was delayed by 24 hr after the plants were treated. The ecological significance of intraguild avoidance behavior and implications for possible use of the semiochemicals involved in future biological control programs are discussed.  相似文献

After the nudibranchAeolidia papillosa eats the sea anemoneAnthopleura elegantissima, anthopleurine, an alarm pheromone from the sea anemone, persists in the tissues of the nudibranch. For at least five days following such a meal, nudibranchs are capable of evoking alarm responses in anemones without touching them, presumably by releasing anthopleurine into the water. The anemone's alarm response to anthopleurine is to withdraw the tentacles and oral disk, the preferred sites of attack forAeolidia. This leaves exposed to attack the anemone body regions with the highest anthopleurine concentrations. Specimens ofAeolidia collected near sources ofAnthopleura are more likely to contain detectable amounts of anthopleurine than those more distant; some nudibranchs collected 0.5 m fromAnthopleura contained enough anthopleurine to evoke alarm responses in anemones they approached. These findings suggest that the predator helps in the transmission of anthopleurine, which may reduce the severity of predation onAnthopleura.  相似文献

Several studies have shown intraspecific geographical variation in the composition of sex pheromones. Pheromone lures from North America and Europe were not effective against the fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith, 1797) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) in Brazil, so we examined the composition of the sex pheromone produced by females from Brazilian populations. Virgin female gland extracts contained (Z)-7-dodecenyl acetate (Z7-12:Ac), (E)-7-dodecenyl acetate (E7-12:Ac), dodecyl acetate, (Z)-9-dodecenyl acetate, (Z)-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14:Ac), (Z)-10-tetradecenyl acetate, tetradecyl acetate/(Z)-11-tetradecenyl acetate (Z11-16:Ac), and (Z)-11-hexadecenyl acetate. The relative proportions of each acetate were 0.8:1.2:0.6:traces:82.8:0.3:1.5:12.9, respectively. This is the first time that E7-12:Ac has been reported from the pheromone gland of S. frugiperda. Only three compounds, Z9-14:Ac, Z7-12:Ac, and E7-12:Ac, elicited antennal responses, and there were no differences in catch between traps baited with either Z7-12:Ac + Z9-14:Ac or Z7-12:Ac + Z9-14:Ac + Z11-16:Ac blends. However, the Z7-12:Ac + Z9-14:Ac + E7-12:Ac blend was significantly better than Z7-12:Ac + Z9-14:Ac, indicating that E7-12:Ac is an active component in the sex pheromone of the Brazilian populations of S. frugiperda.  相似文献

The correct calculi of surface tension and solubility parameters are of paramount importance for many fields of chemical engineering and materials design, such as encapsulation methods (which use the mean field theory), dispersion of nanopowders, phase compatibility in chemical blends and nanocomposites, among others. The solubility parameters play a key role in these applications along with the surface tension. Until now, the relationship between solubility parameters and surface tension was only indirect, through the Skaarup–Beerbower formula, although well‐known physicochemical rules, such as Stefan's rule, could be applied to them directly, as shown in this study. The prediction of both the solubility parameters and surface tension within chemical groups can be obtained with high accuracy using critical temperature and molar volume, parameters easily found in the literature. The proposed rules are original, simple and have direct practical applications for the development of new materials. POLYM. ENG.
