IT in education and teacher education in Australia

Abstract Responsibility for education at all school levels in Australia is the constitutional prerogative of the states and territories while almost all the funds are produced via Commonwealth taxation. On the other hand, university education, including those faculties responsible for teacher education, come directly under Commonwealth control. These arrangements have been questioned often, particularly in terms of assuring the Commonwealth that 'they are getting value for their money'. In recent years, there has been a number of moves towards a more national approach to education and many of these have incorporated statements concerning the role of technology in education. This paper sets the context of these developments as they have impinged on teacher education and provides specific examples from two institutions.

基于数据仓库技术的教务管理系统(EAS)

数据仓库和联机分析处理(OLAP)是信息技术领域的新兴技术,如何应用到高校教务管理信息化建设中是教务管理系统(EAS)面临的问题.基于数据仓库的EAS就是在面向应用的联机事务处理(OLTP)系统的基础上并引入数据仓库和OLAP技术发展起来的.本文结合高校教学管理业务提出了系统实现的解决方案,并给出了基于高校教学业务的数据仓库的体系结构、逻辑模型、粒度模型,以及联机分析处理(OLAP)系统的实现方法.     

计算机信息技术与学科整合在教学中的应用

提出了将先进的计算机信息技术与各学科进行整合，应用到高等职业教育课堂教学的实践中，加强学科软件建设，提高教师对计算机信息技术与各学科整合的应用水平，建立高等职业院校的教学课程信息资源库，建立一支掌握计算机信息技术的教师队伍，将能促进对传统的教学方式和教学方法的根本性改革。     

基于关联规则数据挖掘技术在教学管理中的应用

数据挖掘技术是一种新的信息处理技术。其目的是从海量数据中抽取潜在的,有价值的数据规律或数据模型。通过数据挖掘技术对高校教学数据的分析处理,能够形成真正有价值的知识,向决策者提供信息支持,有利于推动学校教学改革和建设的全面发展。本文主要针对现行高校实际运作的学分选课数据库系统,以关联规则挖掘为例,提出简单而可行的数据挖掘应用实施办法。     

中小学教学中现代教育技术误用现状及分析

随着信息技术在教育中的普及,在中小学课堂中出现了“满堂电”的现象,同时带来了忽视传统教学模式的作用,缺乏师生情感交流等问题。本文基于教育技术是教学的辅助工具的理念,分析了教育技术误用所导致的问题,从而更好地利用现代教育技术为教育教学服务。     

Global information technology and global citizenship education

The Council for Education in World Citizenship has been working with Kingston University and the UK National Commission for UNESCO, taking advantage of global information technology developments in order to build new programmes for global citizenship education. The paper reports on practical experience, inviting new network partners. The IST-Africa 2007 conference provided an opportunity to build on these foundations, with initiatives in primary, secondary, further, adult and higher education, and continuing professional development for teachers.

Using the theory of habitus to move beyond the study of barriers to technology integration

The integration of technology by K-12 teachers was promoted to aid the shift to a more student-centered classroom (e.g., Roblyer, M. D., & Edwards, J. (2000). Integrating educational technology into teaching (2nd ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Merrill). However, growth in the power of and access to technology in schools has not been accompanied by an equal growth in technology integration. Research into reasons for minimal technology integration has traditionally focused on post-teacher-education barriers to technology integration (e.g., Ertmer, P. A. (2005). Teacher pedagogical beliefs: The final frontier in our quest for technology integration? Educational Technology Research and Development, 53(4), 25–39; Ertmer, P. A., Gopalakrishnan, S., & Ross, E. M. (2001). Technology-using teachers: Comparing perceptions of exemplary use to best practice [Electronic copy]. Journal of Research on Computing in Education, 33(3) 1–2; Hew, K. F., & Brush, T. (2007). Integrating technology into K-12 teaching and learning: Current knowledge gaps and recommendations for future research. Educational Technology, Research and Development, 55(3), 223–252). In this paper, I first clarify the definition of technology integration and question the contention that barriers, particularly those related to teacher beliefs, are behind the lack of technology integration. Using the sociological concept of habitus, or set of dispositions, I then explore preservice teachers’ past experiences as a possible explanation for minimal technology integration and discuss implications for future research and teacher education.

Computer education in architecture

In conducting a review of the current state-of-the-art of computer education in architecture, the paper seeks to identify those issues relevant to such a review and assembles them as a framework for a discussion of the effectiveness of current provision in this area of computer education and training.A discursive account of the relevant literature is complemented by information taken from a survey of computer courses in architectural schools in the British Isles.The paper concludes with proposals for a fresh approach to computer education for architects, an approach which acknowledges recent developments in both the technology of computing and an expanding range of applications in architectural practice.     

Preparation versus practice: How do teacher education programs and practicing teachers align in their use of technology to support teaching and learning?

Researchers have called for renewed efforts in exploring both what knowledge should be taught in preservice teacher education programs with regard to technology, and how to best prepare teachers to effectively use that knowledge to support teaching and learning. This study compared the importance of technology topics from teacher educators and teachers’ perspectives. A two-phase mixed-methods research design utilized surveys and multiple case studies (interviews, documents) to collect data from both teacher educators and practicing teachers. Findings indicate that teachers and teacher educators demonstrated similarities in their views regarding the use of technology for personal productivity, information presentation, and the access and use of electronic resources to support teaching and learning. Teacher educators and teachers differed with regard to their use of technology for communication, analysis of student data, documenting professional growth, and facilitating higher-order thinking skills. Recommendations for how teacher education programs can incorporate and address technology topics in order to increase relevance for teachers are discussed.     

浅谈高中信息技术教育的改革

随着信息技术的不断发展,教育也面临着从目的、内容、形式、方法到组织的全面变革。为了适应社会发展形势,我国也飞速的在中小学普及信息技术教育,加快信息技术与课程的整合,浙江省新出台的信息技术高考改革方案的实施也给了本省信息学科更多的活力和前进动力。作为信息技术教师的我们面对高考又应该准备些什么,应对些什么,都将是我们现在和今后需要研讨和思考的问题。
