This article deals with vibration analysis of clamped (C?CC) and freely supported (Fs?CFs), truncated and complete conical shells on elastic foundations with continuously graded volume fraction. The functionally graded material (FGM) properties are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the conical shell. First, the basic relations, i.e., the dynamic stability and compatibility equations, of FGM truncated conical shells on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are obtained. The displacement and Airy stress function are sought depending on a new parameter ??. The parameter ?? depends on the geometry of the shell and the loading and boundary conditions. By applying the Galerkin method to the foregoing equations, the dimensionless frequency parameters of FGM conical shells on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation for two boundary conditions are obtained. Furthermore, the parameter ?? which is included in the formulae is obtained from the minimization of the dimensionless frequency parameters. Finally, the effects of the stiffness of the foundation, boundary conditions, variations of the conical shell characteristics, and composition profiles on the values of the dimensionless frequency parameters are studied. The results are validated through comparison of obtained values with those in the literature.  相似文献

In this study, the nonlinear thermo-elastic bending analysis of a functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite plate resting on two parameter elastic foundations is investigated. The material properties of the carbon nanotube-reinforced composite plates are assumed to be temperature dependent and graded in the thickness direction. The nonlinear formulations are based on a first-order shear deformation plate theory and large deflection von Karman equations. A dynamic relaxation method is employed to solve the plate nonlinear partial differential equations. The effects of volume fraction of carbon nanotubes, thermal gradient, temperature dependency, elastic foundation, boundary conditions, plate width-to-thickness ratio, aspect ratio, and carbon nanotubes distribution are studied in detail.  相似文献

Due to the variation in material properties through the thickness, bifurcation buckling cannot generally occur for plates or beams made of functionally graded materials (FGM) with simply supported edges. Further investigation in this paper indicates that FGM beams subjected to an in-plane thermal loading do exhibit some unique and interesting characteristics in both static and dynamic behaviors, particularly when effects of transverse shear deformation and the temperature-dependent material properties are simultaneously taken into account. In the analysis, based on the nonlinear first-order shear deformation beam theory (FBT) and the physical neutral surface concept, governing equations for both the static behavior and the dynamic response of FGM beams subjected to uniform in-plane thermal loading are derived. Then, a shooting method is employed to numerically solve the resulting equations. The material properties of the beams are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents, and to be temperature-dependent. The effects of material constants, transverse shear deformation, temperature-dependent material properties, in-plane loading and boundary conditions on the nonlinear behavior of FGM beams are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The effects of three-parameter elastic foundations and thermo-mechanical loading on axisymmetric large deflection response of a simply supported annular FGM plate are investigated. An annular FGM plate, resting on a three-parameter elastic foundation under a transverse uniform loading and a transverse non-uniform temperature, is considered. The mechanical and thermal properties of the FGM plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The mathematical modeling of the plate and the resulting nonlinear governing equations of equilibrium are derived based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) in conjunction with nonlinear von Karman assumptions. A polynomial-based differential quadrature method is used as a simple but powerful numerical technique to discretize the nonlinear governing equations and to implement the boundary conditions. Finally, the effects of certain parameters, such as nonlinear foundations stiffness, volume fraction index, and temperature, on the axisymmetric large deflection response of the FGM plate are obtained and discussed in detail.  相似文献

In this study, the stability analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) cylindrical, truncated and complete conical shells subjected to combined loads and resting on elastic foundations for two boundary conditions is investigated. The functionally graded material properties are assumed to vary continuously through the thickness of the conical shell. At first, the basic relations, the stability and compatibility equations of the FGM truncated conical shell on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are obtained. By applying the Galerkin method to the foregoing equations, the critical combined loads of clamped–clamped and sliding–sliding FGM shells on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are obtained. Finally, carrying out some computations, effects of the elastic foundation, boundary conditions, the variation of shell characteristics and material composition profiles on the values of critical combined loads have been studied.  相似文献

A nonlinear analysis is presented for FGM cylindrical panels resting on elastic foundations subjected to the combined actions of uniform lateral pressure and compressive edge loads in thermal environments. The two cases of postbuckling of initially pressurized FGM cylindrical panels and of nonlinear bending of initially compressed cylindrical panels are considered. Heat conduction and temperature-dependent material properties are both taken into account. Material properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction based on Mori-Tanaka micromechanics model. The formulations are based on a higher order shear deformation theory and von Kármán strain displacement relationships. The panel-foundation interaction and thermal effects are also included. The governing equations are solved by a singular perturbation technique along with a two-step perturbation approach. The numerical illustrations concern the postbuckling behavior and the nonlinear bending response of FGM cylindrical panels with two constituent materials resting on Pasternak elastic foundations. The effects of volume fraction index, temperature variation, foundation stiffness as well as initial stress on the postbuckling behavior and the nonlinear bending response of FGM cylindrical panels are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Nonlinear free vibration of microbeams made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) is investigated in this paper based on the modified couple stress theory and von Kármán geometric nonlinearity. The non-classical beam model is developed within the framework of Timoshenko beam theory which contains a material length scale parameter related to the material microstructures. The material properties of FGMs are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to the power law function and are determined by Mori-Tanaka homogenization technique. The higher-order nonlinear governing equations and boundary conditions are derived by using the Hamilton principle. A numerical method that makes use of the differential quadrature method together with an iterative algorithm is employed to determine the nonlinear vibration frequencies of the FGM microbeams with different boundary conditions. The influences of the length scale parameter, material property gradient index, slenderness ratio, and end supports on the nonlinear free vibration characteristics of the FGM microbeams are discussed in detail. It is found that both the linear and nonlinear frequencies increase significantly when the thickness of the FGM microbeam is comparable to the material length scale parameter.  相似文献

A hygrothermal bending analysis is presented for a functionally graded material (FGM) plate resting on elastic foundations. The elastic coefficients, thermal coefficient and moisture expansion coefficient of the plate are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction. The equilibrium equations are given and a number of examples are solved to illustrate bending response of Titanium/Zirconia plates subjected to hygro-thermo-mechanical effects and resting on elastic foundations. The influences played by many parameters are investigated.  相似文献

Geometrically nonlinear vibration of bi-functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich plates has been carried out by the p-version of the finite element method (FEM). The bi-FGM sandwich plate is made up of two face-sheet layers of two different FGM and one layer of homogeneous core. The nonlinear equations of motion of bi-FGM sandwich plates are establish using the harmonic balance method and solved iteratively by the linearized updated mode method. The effects of amplitude vibration, mechanical properties, geometrical parameters, thickness ratio of bi-FGM layers, and volume fraction exponent on the nonlinear vibration behavior of bi-FGM sandwich plates are plotted and investigated.  相似文献

This article presents an analytical approach to investigate the nonlinear stability of thick, functionally graded material (FGM) shallow spherical shells resting on elastic foundations, subjected to uniform external pressure and exposed to thermal environments. Material properties are assumed to be temperature dependent and graded in the thickness direction according to a Sigmoid power law distribution (S-FGM) in terms of the volume fractions of constituents. Using the first-order shear deformation theory and the Galerkin method, the effects of materials, geometry, elastic foundation parameters, and temperature on the nonlinear response of the thick S-FGM shells are analyzed and discussed in detail.  相似文献

This paper deals with three-dimensional analysis of functionally graded annular plates through using state-space based differential quadrature method (SSDQM) and comparative behavior modeling by artificial neural network (ANN) for different boundary conditions. The material properties are assumed to have an exponent-law variation along the thickness. A semi-analytical approach which makes use of state-space method in thickness direction and one-dimensional differential quadrature method in radial direction is used to obtain the vibration frequencies. The state variables include a combination of three displacement parameters and three stress parameters. Numerical results are given to demonstrate the convergency and accuracy of the present method. Once the semi-analytical method is validated, an optimal ANN is selected, trained and tested by the obtained numerical results. In addition to the quantitative input parameters, support type is also considered as a qualitative input in NN modeling. Eventually the results of SSDQM and ANN are compared and the influence of thickness of the annular plate, material property graded index and circumferential wave number on the non-dimensional natural frequency of annular functionally graded material (FGM) plates with different boundary conditions are investigated. The results show that ANN can acceptably model the behavior of FG annular plates with different boundary conditions.  相似文献

Exact solutions for functionally graded thick plates are presented based on the three-dimensional theory of elasticity. The plate is assumed isotropic at any point, while material properties to vary exponentially through the thickness. The system of governing partial differential equations is reduced to an ordinary one about the thickness coordinate by expanding the state variables into infinite dual series of trigonometric functions. Interactions between the Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation and the plate are treated as boundary conditions. The problem is finally solved using the state space method. Effects of stiffness of the foundation, loading cases, and gradient index on mechanical responses of the plates are discussed. It is established that elastic foundations affects significantly the mechanical behavior of functionally graded thick plates. Numerical results presented in the paper can serve as benchmarks for future analyses of functionally graded thick plates on elastic foundations.  相似文献

A meshfree model is presented for the static and dynamic analyses of functionally graded material (FGM) plates based on the radial point interpolation method (PIM). In the present method, the mid-plane of an FGM plate is represented by a set of distributed nodes while the material properties in its thickness direction are computed analytically to take into account their continuous variations from one surface to another. Several examples are successfully analyzed for static deflections, natural frequencies and dynamic responses of FGM plates with different volume fraction exponents and boundary conditions. The convergence rate and accuracy are studied and compared with the finite element method (FEM). The effects of the constituent fraction exponent on static deflection as well as natural frequency are also investigated in detail using different FGM models. Based on the current material gradient, it is found that as the volume fraction exponent increases, the mechanical characteristics of the FGM plate approach those of the pure metal plate blended in the FGM.  相似文献

A three-dimensional semi-analytic analysis based on the linear elasticity theory is offered to study the transient vibration characteristics of an arbitrarily thick, simply supported, functionally graded (FGM) rectangular plate, resting on a linear Winkler–Pasternak viscoelastic foundation, and subjected to general distributed driving forces of arbitrary temporal and spatial variations. The problem solution is obtained by adopting a laminate model in conjunction with the powerful state space solution technique involving a global transfer matrix and Durbin’s numerical Laplace inversion algorithm. Numerical calculations are carried out for the transient displacement and stress responses of aluminum-zirconia FGM square plates of selected thickness parameters and compositional gradients, resting on “soft” or “stiff” elastic foundations, under the action of moving transverse forces as well as uniformly distributed blast loads. Also, the response curves for the FGM plates are compared with those of equivalent bilaminate plates containing comparable total volume fractions of constituent materials. It is observed that the material gradient variation is substantially more influential on the dynamic stress concentrations induced across the plate thickness than on the displacement response of the inhomogeneous plates. In particular, the displacement response of the equivalent bilaminate plates can provide an accurate estimate for prediction of the dynamic response of the corresponding FGM plates, especially for thick plates resting on a stiff foundation. Limiting cases are considered and good agreements with the data available in the literature as well as with the computations made by using a commercial finite element package are obtained.  相似文献

This study deals with the stochastic nonlinear bending response of functionally graded materials (FGMs) plate with uncertain system properties subjected to transverse uniformly distributed load in thermal environments. The system properties such as material properties of each constituent’s material, volume fraction index and transverse load are taken as independent random input variables. The material properties are assumed to be temperature independent (TID) and temperature dependent (TD). The basic formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory with von-Karman nonlinear strain kinematics using modified C 0 continuity. A direct iterative based nonlinear finite element method in conjunction with first-order perturbation technique developed by last two authors for the composite plate is extended for the FGM plate to compute the second order statistics (mean and standard deviation) of the nonlinear bending response of the FGM plates. Effects of TD, TID material properties, aspect ratios, volume fraction index and boundary conditions, uniform temperature and non-uniform temperature distribution on the nonlinear bending are presented in detail through parametric studies. The present outlined approach has been validated with the results available in the literature and independent Monte Carlo simulation.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate free vibration behaviors of functionally graded sector plates with general boundary conditions in the context of three-dimensional theory of elasticity. Generally, the material properties of functionally graded sector plates are assumed to vary continuously and smoothly in thickness direction. However, the changes in the material properties may occur in the other directions, such as radial direction. Therefore, two types of functionally graded annular sector plates are considered in the paper. In this work, both the Voigt model and Mori-Tanaka scheme are adopted to evaluate the effective material properties. Each of displacements of annular sector plate, regardless of boundary conditions, is expressed as modified Fourier series which consists of three-dimensional Fourier cosine series plus several auxiliary functions introduced to overcome the discontinuity problems of the displacement and its derivatives at edges. To ensure the validity and accuracy of the method, numerous examples for isotropic and functionally graded sector plates with various boundary conditions are presented. Furthermore, new results for functionally graded sector plates with elastic restraints are given. The effects of the material profiles and boundary conditions on the free vibration of the functionally sector plates are also studied.  相似文献

Nonlinear vibration, nonlinear bending and postbuckling analyses are presented for a sandwich plate with FGM face sheets resting on an elastic foundation in thermal environments. The material properties of FGM face sheets are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The governing equation of the plate that includes plate-foundation interaction is solved by a two-step perturbation technique. The thermal effects are also included and the material properties of both FGM face sheets and homogeneous core layer are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The numerical results reveal that the foundation stiffness and temperature rise have a significant effect on the natural frequency, buckling load, postbuckling and nonlinear bending behaviors of sandwich plates. The results also reveal that the core-to-face sheet thickness ratio and the volume fraction distribution of FGM face sheets have a significant effect on the natural frequency, buckling load and postbuckling behavior of the sandwich plate, whereas this effect is less pronounced for the nonlinear bending, and is marginal for the nonlinear to linear frequency ratios of the same sandwich plate.  相似文献
