A hybrid 5-degrees-of-freedom parallel kinematic machine tool constructed using the TRR-XY mechanism has been used to investigate the theory of post-processing. The effects of the cutter shapes and machine construction on the post-processing are investigated. Some specific parameters only are required to modify the post-processing for the different tools used in real cutting. The tilt angle and yaw angle of the cutter relative to the normal direction of the cutting surface are included in the investigation. The parametric representations of different cutter shapes defined by the DIN standard were also adopted in the derivation. The generality of the post-processor theory developed was then increased. Finally, NC code has been generated using LABVIEW software. Simulations are performed to verify the correctness of the work based on several designed tool paths.  相似文献

The accomplishment of a turning and five-axis milling in only one setup is extremely useful and is possible on a turning and milling composite machine tool. In this work, we present a control algorithm and develop a post-processor for this machine, which has six linear and three rotary axes. To calculate a generalized kinematics model, coordinate systems are established by analyzing the basic kinematic chain relation of the turning and milling composite machine tool. The two vectors, which control the motions of the cutter contact workpiece, are simultaneously transformed to provide the algorithms of the rotary angles and motion coordinate. A special post-processor written in JAVA language is developed according to the proposed algorithm. To evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of the developed post-processor, a specimen (blade) is used in the cutting simulation and real machining experiment. Experimental results showed the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed algorithm. Furthermore, Compatibility is improved by adding new functions such as change of target machine, cutter location data change, workpiece origin offset, and cutting feed rate control.  相似文献

A systematic machining theory and precision method to determine cutter location in a grinding system is presented for rotary burr. First, the helical cutting edge on various kinds of revolving surfaces is built. Then, based on the geometry model of the helical cutting edge, the smooth spiral rake surface with constant normal rake angle and flank surface can been formed during the one-pass grinding process by this method. No interference between the grinding wheel and workpiece happens by the wheel special rotation. The method has the characteristic of detaching the grinding wheel path solution from specified machining conditions. The grinding wheel path is suitable for different NC machine tools through post processing. Meanwhile, a mechanism kinematic model of the NC machine tool is built, and a generalized algorithm for post-processing of multi-axis NC machine tools is presented. This model is applied to arbitrary configuration of NC machine tool, and the motion value for each axis will be generated by the inputting structure and motion parameters of the machine tool. The model, together with the machining method mentioned in this paper, make the calculation and generation of the grinding wheel path simpler and universal. At last, the validity of the method given in the paper is identified by an example of grinding.  相似文献

Based on the flexibility characteristics of the NC machine tool, which means that various motions can be performed arbitrarily on NC machine tools, a new algorithm for manufacturing a hypoid pinion is proposed. This gets rid of the limitation of traditional mechanical machine tools and their algorithms. When the cutter tilt method is combined with the modification method, a method of manufacturing the pinion with a prescribed-size cutter on an NC machine tool can be realised. This helps to simplify cutter specifications and realise the error compensation of the cutter size. In this paper the algorithm is derived. According to the equations of cutting, the machine settings are calculated.  相似文献

This paper investigates the analytical envelope surface model formed by specially designed cutting edge under cutter runout error, including axis offset error and tilt error, in five-axis flank milling. This model, which is independent of the machine tool type, is determined by the tangency condition in envelope theory. First, the cutter runout is defined by four parameters, namely offset distance, offset direction angle, locating angle, and tilt angle. Then, the cutting edge represented by cubic B-spline curve is used as the generator of cutter rotation surface to formulate the closed-form envelope surface model. In particular, the runout error and feedrate are both integrated into the model. In addition, we study special cases of the analytical model and the runout effect on envelope surface. Finally, computer example validates the feasibility of the proposed model with runout. We find that envelope surface formed by cutter edge is different from each other at the existence of runout, and envelope surface dedicated to final machined surface is generated by the composition of some segments of cutter edges. The results can be applied to tool path optimization in five-axis flank milling and NC simulation with cutter runout.  相似文献

Few function about 3D tool radius compensation is applied to generating executable motion control commands in the existing computer numerical control (CNC) systems. Once the tool radius is changed, especially in the case of tool size changing with tool wear in machining, a new NC program has to be recreated. A generic 3D tool radius compensation method for multi-axis peripheral milling in CNC systems is presented. The offset path is calculated by offsetting the tool path along the direction of the offset vector with a given distance. The offset vector is perpendicular to both the tangent vector of the tool path and the orientation vector of the tool axis relative to the workpiece. The orientation vector equations of the tool axis relative to the workpiece are obtained through homogeneous coordinate transformation matrix and forward kinematics of generalized kinematics model of multi-axis machine tools. To avoid cutting into the corner formed by the two adjacent tool paths, the coordinates of offset path at the intersection point have been calculated according to the transition type that is determined by the angle between the two tool path tangent vectors at the corner. Through the verification by the solid cutting simulation software VERICUTwith different tool radiuses on a table-tilting type five-axis machine tool, and by the real machining experiment of machining a soup spoon on a five-axis machine tool with the developed CNC system, the effectiveness of the proposed 3D tool radius compensation method is confirmed. The proposed compensation method can be suitable for all kinds of threeto five-axis machine tools as a general form.  相似文献

Defining the helical angle as the angle between the cutting edge and revolving axis of the cutter presents the designing models of the cutting edge and helical groove of a toroid shaped taper cutter. Under the condition of a certain revolving speed, the relative radial and axial feeding speeds of the grinding wheel in two-axis NC machining of the cutter are deduced. The models for calculating the actual obtained groove and the simulation-method of computer are also provided.The surface near to the top of the end cutter has no helical cutting edges and infinite feeding speeds of NC machine. It is necessary to adopt a supplementary cutting edge. A supplementary cutting edge is designed as a cutting edge with a constant pitch. This paper provides valuable reference for the design and NC machining of this kind of toroid shaped taper cutter.  相似文献

Having first defined the helical angle as the angle between the cutting edge and the axis of rotation of the cutter, this paper then presents design models for producing the cutting edge and groove of a ball-end cutter with concave-arc generator. The relative feed speeds of the grinding wheel in the radial and axial directions during NC machining of the cutter are derived based upon a given speed of rotation. The feed speed of the grinding wheel in the radial direction is modified according to the cross section of the groove that passes through the center of the cutter sphere. The paper presents a method for manufacturing a concave-arc ball-end (CABE) cutter using a 2-axis NC machine. The models that are used to calculate the actual obtained groove and the computer simulation method are also included. To further enhance the accuracy of the mathematical models, a compensatory machining process that eliminates residual profile on the revolving surface is presented. This paper provides a valuable reference for the design and machining of this cutter type.  相似文献

In this paper, an efficient method tor generating 5-axis cutting data for a turbine blade is presented. The interference elimination of 5-axis cutting currently is very complicated, and it takes up a lot of time. The proposed method can generate an interference-free tool path, within an allowance range. Generating the cutting data just point to the cutting process and using it to obtain NC data by calculating the feed rate, allows us to maintain the proper feed rate of the 5-axis machine. This paper includes the algorithms for: (1) CL data generation by detecting an interference-free heel angle, (2) finding the optimal tool path interval considering the cusp-height, (3) finding the adaptive feed rate values for each cutter path, and (4) the inverse kinematics depending on the structure of the 5-axis machine, for generating the NC data.  相似文献

An analytical methodology is developed for NC data generation to produce and measure spatial cams on 5-axis machine tools. The Denavit-Hartenberg notation is used for expressing the ability function of the employed machine tool and in the generation of the desired cutter/measuring-probe location. NC data equations are determined by equating the corresponding elements of the machine tool's ability function to the desired tool location matrices. To validate this methodology, a designed cam was machined and its surfaces were measured by an online measurement system equipped with a touch-trigger probe on a 5-axis machine tool. The resultant cutting speed and material-removal rate during machining are also investigated. This methodology is a general one and is applicable to various spatial cams. It also combines the activities of design, manufacturing, and measurement, thus making the production process more flexible, automatic, and controllable.  相似文献

为了实现使用盘形铣刀数控加工等基圆曲线齿锥齿轮,基于等基圆曲线齿锥齿轮理论,通过建立盘形铣刀加工数学模型,求解了决定刀具空间姿态的主要参数。通过盘形铣刀刀轴矢量、刀心坐标的求解,得到了轮坯坐标系下的刀位。结合通用五坐标数控机床,求得了五坐标数控加工等基圆锥齿轮运动轨迹的表达式。通过三维造型,对刀位求解进行了分析验证;通过仿真切削加工,验证了运动轨迹的正确性。结果表明,利用盘形铣刀数控加工等基圆锥齿轮的刀具位姿、运动轨迹的求解正确,在通用数控机床上利用盘形铣刀能够加工等基圆曲线齿锥齿轮。  相似文献

Generally, tool path is generated in a computer-aided manufacturing software considering only the geometry of machining parts. It is converted into numerical control (NC) codes in the postprocessor based on the particular machine kinematics. For some special types of five-axis machine tools, e.g., non-orthogonal five-axis machine tools, the generated NC codes may produce unqualified parts because of the existence of the non-linear error. Conventional commercialized postprocessors usually do not have the function of non-linear error checking. Observing that the tool path is a non-smooth trajectory full of corners and a series of connected line segments, cubic spline interpolation is applied to smooth the tool path at regular points in this study. The cutter tip center points are computed by the cubic spine interpolation, while the cutter posture vectors are obtained via linear interpolation. At the splines (for regular points) and the line segments (feature points), more points are chosen to be converted into NC codes to reduce the non-linear error, which is called data densification. Using the cubic spline to smooth the tool path and the data densification to reduce the non-linear error, a novel tool path optimization algorithm in postprocessor is proposed. Experiments were carried out on an inclined rotary spindle axis non-orthogonal five-axis machine tool. It shows that the proposed tool path optimization provides improved accuracy and surface quality.  相似文献

The paper presents a mathematical model for producing a ball-end cutter by first defining the helical angle as the angle between the cutting edge and the centre-line axis. The velocities of the cutter in the radial and axial directions are then derived based on a given rotating speed. The radial feed speed of the grinding wheel is calculated according to the groove cross-section passing through the centre of the ball-end cutter. A ball-end cutter of constant helical angle is designed and produced by using a two-axis NC machine. To enhance the dimensional accuracy of the mathematical model, a compensatory grinding operation is also proposed and applied to the ball-end cutter. A ball-end milling cutter is selected for design and manufacture to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design and numerically controlled (NC) manufacturing procedure. The result of data verification indicates that the proposed procedure is systematic, straightforward and reliable. The ball-end cutter that is designed, refined and produced by using a simple two-axis NC machine is accurate enough to meet the specified tolerance.  相似文献
