Solid open‐cell sponges, often denoted as foams in literature, are promising packing materials for applications in process engineering. Their structural properties lead to low pressure drop and enhanced heat and mass transport as compared to conventional packed beds. Over the past years, the potential advantages of these new structures have been the topic in numerous investigations. However, only a few publications mention or take into consideration how the sponge packings are fitted into the respective apparatus. Using solid sponges as catalyst supports in the partial oxidation of o‐xylene, this present contribution demonstrates the impact of the fitting procedure of sponges on the resulting process behaviour such as conversion and heat transfer.  相似文献

The regeneration of membrane surfaces in micro‐ and ultrafiltration is a very important factor to use membrane filtration economical‐efficient. The resuspension of particles strongly depends on the acting adhesion forces. This article describes a pilot‐scale device, which is used for basal experiments that should lead to an indirect measurement of adhesion forces acting during the process of membrane surface regeneration. The aim is to optimize the existing regeneration process and to find new solutions for membrane regeneration.  相似文献

For the model‐based dimensioning and design of bubble columns information about fluiddynamics as well as mass transfer and reaction are needed. These data from the literature are subject to uncertainty. The influence of uncertainty of reaction kinetics on the dimensioning and design of bubble columns is investigated by using the radial discretized compartment model.
