Yb doped (Y0.97Zr0.03)2O3 transparent ceramics were fabricated by solid state reaction and vacuum sintering. The microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties of Y2O3 ceramic, as well as the effect of Yb doping concentration on these properties were investigated in detail. The lattice parameter and unit cell volume decrease with the increasing of Yb content, whereas thermal expansive coefficient increases. With Yb content increasing from 0 to 8 at.%, the mean grain size increases from 15.82 μm to 26.54 μm, and the thermal conductivity at room temperature (RT) decreases from 11.97 to 6.39 W/m/K. The microhardness decreases with Yb content, and the microhardness and fracture toughness of (Y0.97Zr0.03)2O3 transparent ceramic is 11.11 GPa and 1.29 MPa m1/2, respectively.  相似文献

Transparent Nd:Y2O3 ceramic was obtained by sintering mono-sized spherical powder. The powder was prepared by homogeneous precipitation method in aqueous media using urea to regulate the pH. The structure and morphology of the powder were investigated by TG-DTA, XRD, SEM and IR spectrum. The effect of aging temperature, time, and the concentration of urea, [Y3+], and [Nd3+] were investigated. Results showed that the obtained precursor was R2(OH)CO3·H2O (R = Y, Nd), and the least size of mono-sized spherical yttria particles was 72 nm by a microwave oven method after calcinations at 850 °C for 4 h. After dry press and CIP, the particles accumulated closely, and no defects can be detected in the green body.  相似文献

High burnup is a goal for further development of advanced nuclear power in the future. However, along with the increase of burnup, it becomes more diffidult to control reactor reactivity, which affects the operation safety of the nuclear reactor. Al2O3/B4C burnable poison materials widely used in pressurized water reactor currently will not meet the requirements of burnable poison materials in high burnup nuclear power. Because of the better performance of ZrO2/Gd2O3 burnable poison materials than that of Al2O3/B4C, this paper studies the preparation of ZrO2/Gd2O3 composite ceramic materials by the coprecipitation method. The experimental results show that at the sintering temperature of 1500–1650 °C, ZrO2/Gd2O3 composite ceramic grains are small, compact and uniform with the generation of homogeneous solid solution. At 1600 °C, ZrO2–10%Gd2O3 has the highest density and mechanical strength.  相似文献

Mullite has become a strong candidate material for advanced structural and functional ceramics. Much interest has recently focused on sintering aids for mullite. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Y2O3 as a sintering aid in the conventional and microwave sintering of mullite. To accomplish this study, a highly pure industrial mullite was used. Mullite with and without Y2O3 was pressed under a cold isostatic pressure of 200 MPa. Samples were sintered conventionally at 1400, 1450, 1500, 1550 and 1600 °C for 2 h and microwave-sintered for up to 40 min using a large range of power. The microstructure and physical properties of the microwave-sintered samples were compared to those of the conventionally sintered samples. The results showed that Y2O3 improved the densification of mullite bodies in the conventional and microwave sintering processes, but high densifications were achieved in just a few minutes when Y2O3 was used with microwave processing.  相似文献

Improvements and the effects of additions of ZrSiO4-3 mol% Y2O3 into MgO-MgAl2O4 composite refractories on mechanical properties and thermal stress resistance parameters were investigated. Significant improvements were achieved on mechanical properties and R-Rst parameters up to ∼2 and ∼3-fold ratios. The major parameters improving mechanical properties and thermal behaviour of refractories were determined as follows: (i) the increase in resistance to crack initiation and propagation due to formation of Mg2SiO4 phase after decomposition of zircon; (ii) propagation of the microcracks formed in the structure for a short distance by interlinking each other; (iii) arresting or deviation of microcracks when reaching pores or ZrO2 grains released after dissociation of zircon, located together with Y2O3 particles, and furthermore; (iv) co-presence of both intergranular and transgranular types of cracks, and with incorporation of zircon-Y2O3; (v) increase in density; and (vi) a significant reduction in MgO grain size.  相似文献

Herein we presented polymer complex solution method for production of well crystalline europium doped Y2O3 nanopowders. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) of five different molecular weights is used both as a fuel and as a nucleation agent for the crystallization. Powders were cold-pressed and sintered to obtain ceramics. SEM images taken from ceramic pellets indicate formation of a dense structure, with a pronounced grain growth and low pore concentration. Luminescence emission spectra of powders and ceramics are similar, and in good agreement with theoretical data. Lifetimes of Eu3+5D0 level in nanocrystalline powders are higher compared to one observed in bulk, confirming in this case theory of lifetime lengthening in nanophosphors due to the change of effective refraction index. As expected, lifetime values in ceramic samples decrease toward the value in bulk Y2O3. The optical filling factor is calculated from observed decay times, providing a measure of discrepancy between powder and bulk state regarding their luminescent properties.  相似文献

Y3Al5O12 nanostructured ceramics with total transmittance of 63% at λ = 1064 nm has been obtained by low-temperature high-pressure sintering. According to high-resolution transmission electron microscopy ceramics is near pore-free and consists of close-packed grains of 20–40 nm in size. The transmittance spectrum in the visible and IR wavelength range, stationary X-ray excited luminescence and thermally stimulated luminescence were studied to characterize Y3Al5O12 nanostructured ceramics in comparison to single crystals of the same composition. The observed differences in the optical and luminescent properties were interpreted as a consequence of high defectivity level of nanoceramics arising from its non-equilibrium character, extremely large concentration of grain boundaries and surface states.  相似文献

The catalytic performance in oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) of unmodified pure La2O3, Nd2O3, ZrO2 and Nb2O5 has been investigated under various conditions. The results confirmed that the activity of La2O3 and Nd2O3 was always much higher than that of the remaining two. The surface basicity/base strength distribution of pure La2O3, Nd2O3, ZrO2 and Nb2O5 was measured using a test reaction of transformation of 2-butanol and a temperature-programmed desorption of CO2. Both methods showed that La2O3 and Nd2O3 had high basicity and contained medium and strong basic sites (lanthanum oxide more and neodymium oxide somewhat less). ZrO2 had only negligible amount of weak basic sites and Nb2O5 was rather acidic. The confrontation of the basicity and catalytic performance indicated that in the case of investigated oxides, the basicity (especially strong basic sites) could be a decisive factor in determination of the catalytic activity in OCM. Only in the case of ZrO2 it was observed a moderate catalytic performance in spite of negligible basicity. The influence of a gas atmosphere used in the calcination of oxides (flowing oxygen, helium and nitrogen) on their basicity and catalytic activity in OCM had been also investigated. Contrary to earlier observations with MgO, no effect of calcination atmosphere on the catalytic performance of investigated oxides in OCM and on their basicity was observed.  相似文献

Pulsed electric current sintering (PECS) was applied to obtain transparent ruby polycrystals. Al2O3-Cr2O3 powder mixture was prepared by drying an aqueous slurry consisting of Al2O3 and Cr(NO3)3 followed by PECS consolidation in vacuum at a sintering temperatures ranging from 1100 to 1300 °C with various heating rates between 2 and 100 °C/min and under an applied pressures from 40 to 100 MPa. Slow heating rate and high-pressure lead to highly densified and transparent Cr-doped Al2O3 polycrystals at sintering temperature of 1200 °C.  相似文献

Europium doped yttrium oxide phosphors were synthesized by a rapid microwave-assisted solvothermal method. The microwave processing time for synthesizing the precursors of Y2O3:Eu3+ powders was as short as 5 min. After calcination at 600 °C, a well-crystallized pure phase of Y2O3:Eu3+ was obtained. The morphology of the precipitated powders was spherical and composed of nano-sized grains. As the microwave irradiation time was increased, the average particle size of the spherical powders increased, and the crystallinity of heat-treated powders was also enhanced. The synthesized powders retained the spherical morphology after heating treatments. An intense red emission at 611 nm was assigned to the 5D0-7F2 transition of Eu3+.  相似文献

Al2O3-SiC composite ceramics were prepared by pressureless sintering with and without the addition of MgO, TiO2 and Y2O3 as sintering aids. The effects of these compositional variables on final density and hardness were investigated. In the present article at first α-Al2O3 and β-SiC nano powders have been synthesized by sol-gel method separately by using AlCl3, TEOS and saccharose as precursors. Pressureless sintering was carried out in nitrogen atmosphere at 1600 °C and 1630 °C. The addition of 5 vol.% SiC to Al2O3 hindered densification. In contrast, the addition of nano MgO and nano TiO2 to Al2O3-5 vol.% SiC composites improved densification but Y2O3 did not have positive effect on sintering. Maximum density (97%) was achieved at 1630 °C. Vickers hardness was 17.7 GPa after sintering at 1630 °C. SEM revealed that the SiC particles were well distributed throughout the composite microstructures. The precursors and the resultant powders were characterized by XRD, STA and SEM.  相似文献

Bi2O3 compositions were prepared to investigate the effect of rare earth metal oxides as co-dopants on phase stability of bismuth oxide. Compositions containing 9-14 mol% of Y2O3 and Er2O3 were synthesized by solid state reaction. The structural characterization was carried out using X-ray powder diffraction. The XRD results show that the samples containing 12 and 14 mol% total dopants had cubic structure, whereas the samples with lower dopant concentrations were tetragonal. Comparing the lattice parameters of the cubic phases of (Bi2O3)0.88(Y2O3)0.06(Er2O3)0.06 and (Bi2O3)0.86(Y2O3)0.07(Er2O3)0.07 revealed that lattice parameter decreases by increasing the dopant concentration. The XRD pattern and the powder density results indicated the formation of solid solution in the studied systems. After annealing samples with cubic phase at 600 °C for various periods of time, phase transformation to tetragonal and rhombohedral occurs.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline (Y0.7Gd0.3)2O3 powder, synthetised via polymer complex solution method, was compacted into 25 pellets applying high pressures (173-867 MPa) for 30 s that were subsequently sintered at different temperatures (800-1400 °C) for 18 h. The morphology and optical characteristics of the starting powder and prepared ceramic samples were monitored and discussed in order to identify the changes induced with the variations of initial compacting pressure, which influence is often neglected, and with sintering temperature. The grain size tends to decrease significantly with increasing pressure, even when elevated temperatures are used for annealing, while low compacting pressure resulted in grain coarsening and, in some cases, even in anomalous morphology of ceramic samples. Luminescence emission in ceramic samples decays faster than in nanopowders, that is in complete agreement with the grain formation and gradual transformation to the bulk material. Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters and branching ratios were calculated taking into account the difference in effective refractive index for nanopowder and ceramic samples.  相似文献

The preparation and dielectric properties of 3ZnO·B2O3 ceramics were investigated. Dense 3ZnO·B2O3 ceramics were obtained as sintered in the temperature range from 950 to 1000 °C for 3 h. The X-ray diffraction showed that the obtained ceramics were of a monoclinic 3ZnO·B2O3 structure. The ceramic specimens fired at 955 °C for 1 h exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties: ?r ∼ 6.9, Q × f ∼ 20,647 GHz (@6.35 GHz), and τf ∼ −80 ppm/°C. The dependences of relative density, ?r, and Q × f of ceramics sintered at 955 °C on sintering soaking time showed that they all reached their plateaus as the soaking time was up to 60 min. Meanwhile, 3ZnO·B2O3 ceramics had no reaction with silver during cofiring, indicating it is a potential candidate for low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) substrate.  相似文献

Interactions between a poly(vinyl)silazane and Al2O3 or Y2O3-stabilised ZrO2 fillers were studied during the fabrication of polysilazane-derived bulk ceramics in order to investigate the influence of oxide fillers on resulting properties. Specimens were produced by coating of the filler powders with the polysilazane, warm-pressing of the resulting composite powders, and pyrolytic conversion in flowing N2 at various temperatures between 1000 °C and 1400 °C. Significant differences in densification were observed, depending on the filler used. Reactions between the polysilazane-derived matrix and Al2O3 or ZrO2 at temperatures ≥1300 °C resulted in the formation of Si5AlON7 or ZrSiO4, respectively. Reactivity in the polysilazane-derived component was a result of SiO2 contamination caused primarily by adsorbed species on the filler particle surface. Knowledge of polysilazane/filler interface processes is found to be decisive for the prediction of properties such as shrinkage and porosity, which heavily influence performance of a material.  相似文献

Supported nickel catalysts of composition Ni/Y2O3–ZrO2 were synthesized in one step by the polymerization method and compared with a nickel catalyst prepared by wet impregnation. Stronger interactions were observed in the formed catalysts between NiO species and the oxygen vacancies of the Y2O3–ZrO2 in the catalysts made by polymerization, and these were attributed to less agglomeration of the NiO during the synthesis of the catalysts in one step. The dry reforming of ethanol was catalyzed with a maximum CO2 conversion of 61% on the 5NiYZ catalyst at 800 °C, representing a better response than for the catalyst of the same composition prepared by wet impregnation.  相似文献

The effects of Al2O3 addition on the densification, structure and microwave dielectric properties of CaSiO3 ceramics have been investigated. The Al2O3 addition results in the presence of two distinct phases, e.g. Ca2Al2SiO7 and CaAl2Si2O8, which can restrict the growth of CaSiO3 grains by surrounding their boundaries and also improve the bulk density of CaSiO3-Al2O3 ceramics. However, excessive addition (≥2 wt%) of Al2O3 undermines the microwave dielectric properties of the title ceramics since the derived phases of Ca2Al2SiO7 and CaAl2Si2O8 have poor quality factor. The optimum amount of Al2O3 addition is found to be 1 wt%, and the derived CaSiO3-Al2O3 ceramic sintered at 1250 °C presents improved microwave dielectric properties of ?r = 6.66 and Q × f = 24,626 GHz, which is much better than those of pure CaSiO3 ceramic sintered at 1340 °C (Q × f = 13,109 GHz).  相似文献

Yttria-tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (ZrO2 + 4.5 mol% Y2O3) nanocrystalline powder was synthesized by two Pechini-type gel routes, the in situ polymerized complex (IPC) method and the PEG/AF method. FTIR spectra confirmed coordination of metal ions with the polymer by different routes, depending on the method used. The crystallite size of the powder increased from 5 nm to 8 nm when the temperature was increased from 450 °C to 600 °C and calcination times increased from 2 h to 24 h. The morphology of the powders differed only when the organic impurities were not completely eliminated. After calcination, the morphology of the powders produced by the two methods showed porous agglomerates composed of smaller particles. All the resulting microstructures were very similar, regardless of the method employed to obtain the powder or the calcination times and temperatures.  相似文献

The optical properties and microwave dielectric properties of transparent polycrystalline MgAl2O4 ceramics sintered by spark plasma sintering (SPS) through homemade nanosized MgAl2O4 powders at temperatures between 1250 °C and 1375 °C are discussed. The results indicate that, with increasing sintering temperatures, grain growth and densification occurred up to 1275 °C, and above 1350 °C, rapid grain and pore growth occurred. The in-line light transmission increases with the densification and decreases with the grain/pore growth, which can be as high as 70% at the wavelength of 550 nm and 82% at the wavelength of 2000 nm, respectively. As the sintering temperature increases, Q×f and dielectric constant εr values increase to maximum and then decrease respectively, while τf value is almost independent of the sintering temperatures and remains between −77 and −71 ppm/°C. The optimal microwave dielectric properties (εr=8.38, Q×f=54,000 GHz and τf=−74 ppm/°C) are achieved for transparent MgAl2O4 ceramics produced by spark plasma sintering at 1325 °C for 20 min.  相似文献

Transparent Y2O3 ceramics were fabricated by the solid-state reaction and vacuum sintering method using La2O3, ZrO2 and Al2O3 as sintering aids. The microstructure of the Y2O3 ceramics sintered from 1550 °C to 1800 °C for 8 h were analyzed by SEM. The sintering process of the Y2O3 transparent ceramics was optimized. The results showed that when the samples were sintered at 1800 °C for 8 h under vacuum, the average grain sizes of the ceramics were about 3.5 µm. Furthermore, the transmittance of Y2O3 ceramic sintered at 1800 °C for 8 h was 82.1% at the wavelength around the 1100 nm (1 mm thickness), which was close to its theoretical value. Moreover, the refractive index of the Y2O3 transparent ceramic in the temperature range from 30 °C to 400 °C were measured by the spectroscopic ellipsometry method.  相似文献
