In this paper, a novel direct sequence/spread spectrum (DS/SS) communication system is proposed. This scheme exploits the two-dimensional complex valued chaotic Ikeda map as the spreading sequences. With this double spreading DS/SS system, the effect of multiple access interference can be mitigated by choosing the spreading sequences with appropriate cross-correlation properties. The performance of the system is assessed and demonstrated in a multiuser environment by means of computer simulation with additive white Gaussian noise, Rayleigh fading, and selective fading channel conditions. These studies reveal that the proposed system significantly outperforms the Gold code DS/SS-BPSK system in synchronous channel conditions. In asynchronous case, the improvement is substantial for low signal-to-noise ratios.  相似文献

The paper proposes a new multiple access communications system based on the combination of multitone transmission and direct sequence spectrum spreading (DS/SS). Multitone transmission is proposed because the associated larger symbol duration is favorable to combat the effects of multipath propagation. The multiple access capability of the system is achieved by means of DS/SS which also helps to combat the presence of several paths. On the other hand, DS/SS is also attractive to decrease the multiple access interference. The performance of this system is investigated for a multipath, slowly Rician fading and frequency selective channel, and a suboptimal receiver based on matched filters. The multiple access interference is also taken into account, A model for the computation of the bit error probability is derived for QPSK modulation of the orthogonal tones by the spread symbols. The system performance is investigated for selection diversity and maximal ratio combining (RAKE reception). Then the influence of the number of tones is investigated for given bandwidth, bit rate and transmission power. Analytical bit error rate (BER) results of a chip-interleaving direct sequence (DS) spread spectrum (SS) system using nonlinearity in the presence of pulsed interference are presented. Several simple nonlinearities, such as hole puncher, soft clipper, and hard limiter nonlinearities, are studied. The BERs of a conventional DS SS system employing the same nonlinearities are also given. The proposed system is compared with the conventional DS SS system using numerical examples.  相似文献

The mean acquisition time performance for a direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) code acquisition technique utilizing a finite impulse response (FIR) least-mean-square (LMS)-adaptive filter is investigated in fading conditions. The optimum tap-weight vector for the adaptive filter is derived and computer simulation results are presented to assess the acquisition performance for the system. It is shown that fading causes a slight degradation to the mean acquisition time (less than 3-dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) degradation) which is far less than that incurred by other systems utilizing matched filters (about 10 dB). In frequency selective fading channels, the adaptive nature of the proposed scheme is exploited to acquire the strongest received path and as the paths fade the new strongest available path is acquired  相似文献

The hybrid system is an extension of the state-space system model which allows for random and abrupt changes in the model parameters. In this paper we use the hybrid system to model burst type interference in a direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) communication system. The resulting optimum receiver is easily derived but too computationally complex to be practical. Two suboptimal but more practical receivers are presented. In an example, the hybrid system is used to model pulsed narrowband interference. The performance of each suboptimal receiver is evaluated using computer simulations  相似文献

A direct sequence (DS) spread spectrum code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system is considered where several users transmit data symbols over different multipath channels. The main objective of this work is the proposal of a sequential algorithm for joint parameter estimation and multiuser data detection. The computationally prohibitive maximization of the log-likelihood function is replaced by a sequential scheme using the multistage detector for recovering the data symbols and the expectation-maximization algorithm for estimating the channel parameters. The performance of the resulting multiuser receiver is evaluated via Monte Carlo simulations using both synthetic as well as measured channel impulse responses. A comparison of the performance with analytical expressions for the single-user single-path case shows that the proposed system is capable of eliminating the near-far effect existing in conventional DS/CDMA systems.  相似文献

The effect of multiple-access interference on the acquisition of direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) signals is studied. A passive matched filter approach is used, and the acquisition window length, which is the length of the matched filter, determines the complexity of the acquisition scheme. The acquisition-based capacity of a DS/SS system is defined to be the maximum number of simultaneous transmissions permissible while maintaining acceptable acquisition performance. The performance of the acquisition scheme is evaluated for large acquisition window length, and the asymptotic analysis yields the capacity as a function of the acquisition window length. If this length is linearly related to the processed gain, the acquisition-based capacity is smaller than that obtained by consideration of post-acquisition criteria only (e.g., bit-error probability for the demodulated signal). The results indicate the relative importance of the acquisition problem and suggest directions for further research  相似文献

Arbitrarily tight upper and lower bounds on the pairwise error probability (PEP) of a trellis-coded or convolutional-coded direct-sequence spread-spectrum multiple-access (DS/SSMA) communication system over a Rayleigh fading channel are derived. A new set of probability density functions (PDFs) and cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) of the multiple-access interference (MAI) statistic is derived, and a modified bounding technique is proposed to obtain the bounds. The upper bounds and lower bounds together specify the accuracy of the resulting estimation of the PEP, and give an indication of the system error performance. Several suboptimum decoding schemes are proposed and their performances are compared to that of the optimum decoding scheme by the average pairwise error probability (APEP) values. The approach can be used to accurately study the multiple-access capability of the coded DS/SSMA system without numerical integrations  相似文献

Combined spatial and time-frequency signatures of signal arrivals at a multisensor array are used for nonstationary interference suppression in direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) communications. With random PN spreading code and deterministic nonstationary interferers, the use of antenna arrays offers increased DS/SS signal dimensionality relative to the interferers. Interference mitigation through a spatio-temporal subspace projection technique leads to reduced DS/SS signal distortion and improved performance over the case of a single antenna receiver. The angular separation between the interference and desired signals is shown to play a fundamental role in trading off the contribution of the spatial and time-frequency signatures to the interference mitigation process. The expressions of the receiver signal-to-interference-noise ratio (SINR) implementing subspace projections are derived, and numerical results are provided  相似文献

针对低信噪比直扩信号扩频码的盲估计问题,本文首先用离散卡-洛(K-L)变换的方法对直扩信号进行了研究,得出了在已知信号伪码参数的前提下对低信噪比直扩信号的伪码序列进行盲估计是可行的,并将该问题抽象为一个信号主分量提取问题.然而该K-L变换在伪码序列很长时的计算存储量和计算量都比较大,于是进一步提出了一种主分量神经网络(N. N.或Neural Networks)的解决方法,该方法充分利用了无监督N. N.的自适应主分量提取特性,能较好完成直扩信号伪码序列的盲估计,从而使直扩信号的盲解扩成为可能.理论分析和数值结果都表明本方案能工作在较低的输入信噪比条件下.  相似文献

A general model for M-ary direct sequence-spread spectrum (DS/SS) communications is presented to provide multiple services in direct sequence-spread spectrum multiple access (DS/SSMA). The main idea is to allow each user to use parallel orthogonal spreading sequences, depending upon its needs. More specifically, each service level is associated with certain combinations of the sequences. We use a code, which we refer to as a “mapping code”, to form a multidimensional signal constellation. Thus, the data rate can be changed by changing the mapping code. Further, techniques of sequence sharing (reuse) and sequence arrangement (allocation), suitable for packet switching, are proposed; this allows support of multimedia services, while resulting in a reduction of sequence consumption. We evaluate error rates in the presence of multiple access interference (MAI) and additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The investigation of spectrum overlay of a spread spectrum system on the existing narrowband FM broadcasting system is presented. The overlaid spread spectrum (SS) system is assumed to utilize direct sequence (DS) spreading, using maximal length pseudorandom sequences. We studied the performance degradation of the analog FM system due to the interference produced by the SS signal, through laboratory subjective and objective measurements, for various types of spreading scenarios and for different carrier frequency differences (/spl Delta/f). The RF protection ratios for the FM receivers are derived, along with SINAD measurements. Finally, these experimental results have been compared with the theoretical study of the FM receiver's audio frequency SNR output due to SS interference.  相似文献

Low probability of intercept (LPI) performance of a direct-sequence (DS) spread-spectrum (SS) system with chaotic spreading sequences is investigated in this paper. Several intercept receivers, including energy detectors, synchronous and asynchronous, coherent and noncoherent structures, which are typically used to detect binary DS SS signals, are examined here to detect the presence of chaotic DS SS signals. A simple detection approach using a binary correlating function to detect nonbinary chaotic sequences is proposed. The expressions of detection probabilities of chaotic spreading signals using those intercept receivers are derived. Comparisons between systems using chaotic and binary sequences are given in terms of the LPI performance, and the performance improvement with chaotic spreading sequences is observed.  相似文献

In this paper a novel channel shortening equalizer (CSE) for time hopping ultra wideband (TH-UWB) multiple access system with pulse position modulation (PPM) is presented. As UWB channels have very long impulse responses as compared to the narrow pulse width, CSE can reduce the number of correlators. In UWB systems, due to the received pulse that is very similar to the channel impulse response (CIR), the proposed algorithm maximizes the shortening signal to inter-symbol and multiuser interferences ratio (SSINR), defined as the ratio of the received signal energy inside the desired window to the energy in the wall and multiuser interference. The existence of the proposed CSE before correlation receiver decreases the complexity of the receiver architecture by significantly reducing the number of effective channel taps. Further we extend our method to derive general expression for the bit error rate (BER) performance in the presence of inter-symbol and multiuser interferences. Computer simulation results are provided to compare the performance of the proposed method with a MSSNR CSE, lower bound, also known as All-Rake, Partial-Rake, and Selective-Rake in terms of Rake operational temporal windows and BER.  相似文献

In this paper, signed-rank based nonparametric detectors are used for pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition in direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) systems. We first derive the locally optimum rank (LOR) detector and then propose the locally suboptimum rank (LSR) and modified signed-rank (MSR) detectors using approximate score functions. We compare the single-dwell scheme without the verification mode using the proposed LSR and MSR detectors with that using the conventional squared-sum (SS) and modified sign (MS) detectors. From the simulation results, it is shown that the proposed LSR and MSR detectors perform better than the MS detector by about 2-3 dB and are nearly optimum  相似文献

The main targets of any direct-sequence code division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) mobile communication system are to overcome the multipath fading influences as well as the near/far effect and to increase the capacity. Many optimal and suboptimal detection approaches have been proposed and analyzed in the literature. Unfortunately, most of them share the drawback of requiring a complex implementation and do not represent a practical solution. This paper proposes a simple interference cancellation receiver for applications in DS/CDMA uplink communications. This receiver allows users to overcome the near/far effect and to enhance the system capacity. Differently from previous methods, the interference cancellation is performed on a one-shot basis. The performance of the proposed interference cancellation receiver is derived through computer simulations. However, a suitable analytical approach is also presented in the appendix in order to evaluate the bit error rate (BER) performance in the particular case of synchronous users and the transmission channel being affected only by additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). The good behavior of the proposed approach is demonstrated by means of comparisons in terms of the BER performance and implementation complexity with the classical RAKE receiver and different multiuser receivers previously proposed in the literature on this subject  相似文献

To suppress narrowband interference (NBI) in an ultra‐wideband (UWB) communications environment, a null phase‐shift polarization (NPSP) filter is proposed. The proposed NPSP filter is a combination of a linear polarization‐vector transformer (PVT), a conventional single notch polarization (SNP) filter, and an amplitude and phase compensator (APC). The NBI, which has polarized states different from those of the UWB, can be suppressed completely and the UWB signal can be recovered without distortion if the polarized states can be estimated exactly. Analytical and simulation results indicate that the signal‐to‐interference ratio (SIR) can be improved effectively after NPSP filtering. The proposed NPSP filter can be implemented in a time‐hopping spread spectrum (TH‐SS) or a direct‐sequence spread spectrum (DS‐SS) UWB system. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
