A new technique is described in which stray-insensitive SC lowpass ladder filters of the LDI type are designed without the need for network synthesis. These filters exactly simulate the response of a unit element cascade prototype filter and may be designed with a usable frequency range up to one half the sampling frequency. This design procedure requires no more than simple hand calculation.  相似文献

This paper presents a now class of transformations whose implementation to doubly terminated LC ladder filters results in variable cut-off frequency digital filters. It is shown that using this transformation and the concept of generalized delay, from a given prototype ladder structure, we can construct low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and band-stop filters with variable cut-off frequency and bandwidth. Thu resulting variable filters are canonical in the sense that a minimum number of multipliers in the prototype filter need to be adjusted. Two examples are worked out to illustrate the application of this method.  相似文献

A fully differential bilinear SC integrator, which can be used for SC filter realisations, is proposed. It is parasitic-insensitive and particularly useful in SC filters simulating analogue ladder networks. The design of these filters is different from the commonly used ones, and leads to filters with better sensitivity properties than earlier versions. Realisation of a third-order highpass filter, bilinearly transformed from the continuous-time to the discrete-time domain, is shown as an example.  相似文献

The high frequency (HF) behavior of the switched-capacitor (SC) LDI ladder filter is studied. This study shows that using low sampling frequency with respect to the cutoff frequency reduces the HF error due to the reduction in amplifier gain. Design techniques are also given for the HF SC filters, such as double-sampling scheme, a low sampling frequency with an exact synthesis algorithm, as well as a fast-settling folded-cascode amplifier. These techniques are applied to an experimental fifth-order elliptic SC filter fabricated in a 2-/spl mu/m CMOS technology. The experimental results show that a 3.6-MHz cutoff frequency is attained. All the capacitors are scaled down in order to reduce the setting time of the amplifiers. The active area of the filter is 0.9 mm/SUP 2/. The F/SUB sampling//F/SUB cutoff/ is only 5. The circuit operates from /spl plusmn/5 V and typically dissipates 80 mW when sampled at 18 MHz.  相似文献

A design table for realising log-domain linear transformation filters is presented. Based on this design table, doubly terminated LC ladder filters with or without finite transmission zeros can be efficiently synthesised. Moreover, two design procedures are also given. A design method is described for switched-capacitor filters. It is based on the simulation of doubly terminated reactance filters in a canonical tandem section configuration and using the bilinear s-to-z transformation between the frequency planes of the continuous-time reference filter and the discrete-time switched-capacitor filter. The switched-capacitor circuits are completely insensitive to parasitic capacitances. The method permits the switched-capacitor realization of the whole class of lossless two-ports.  相似文献

This paper describes two programs for the synthesis and layout generation of SC filters and networks. The first part of the paper describes a technology-independent synthesis and optimization program for SC filters. The program allows for the exact synthesis of cascaded SC biquad and SC ladder filters. Two performance measures related to sensitivity and noise are employed to estimate the performance of the synthesized circuits and to select optimum realizations. The same measures are used in a novel capacitance assignment procedure. The second part of the paper describes a flexible SC layout generator, which can be adapted to various design rules and floorplans by means of a technology file. Area efficient layout is generated by placing individual circuit elements rather than building blocks. Crosstalk between conductors is minimized by a router that distinguishes between different kinds of nodes.1. The scaling of the biquad circuit is dependent on the position of the biquad in the cascade.2. This may not seem to be overly important, since high-pass-type filters do not occur that often in practical applications. If one considers, however, that SCSYN is to be used as a general filter synthesis program, thenevery filter must be automatically realizable. In such an environment, a CAD program that can design all but one type of filter is either quite useless or very limited indeed.3. Note that an SC filter, in contrast to a digital filter, may contain delay-free loops.  相似文献

The concepts of losslessness and maximum available power are basic to the low-sensitivity properties of doubly terminated lossless networks of the continuous-time domain. Based on similar concepts, we develop a new theory for low-sensitivity discrete-time filter structures. The mathematical setup for the development is the bounded-real property of transfer functions and matrices. Starting from this property, we derive procedures for the synthesis of any stable digital filter transfer function by means of a low-sensitivity structure. Most of the structures generated by this approach are interconnections of a basic building block called digital "two-pair," and each two-pair is characterized by a lossless bounded-real (LBR) transfer matrix. The theory and synthesis procedures also cover special cases such as wave digital filters, which are derived from continuous-time networks, and digital lattice structures, which are closely related to unit elements of distributed network theory.  相似文献

It is well known that a doubly terminated lossless ladder network has zero sensitivity to each element at every frequency of maximum power transfer. The author shows that a singly terminated ladder network, with the same frequency response as a doubly terminated ladder network, has the same points of zero sensitivity to simultaneous changes in the values of the elements of the same type by an equal relative amount. The filters have no lumped counterparts and cannot be obtained from a lumped prototype by a transformation. They provide a generalisation of some earlier results, and also lead to some new formulas. Use of table look-up multiplication by fractional coefficients allows implementation of high-speed, low-cost recursive digital filters using residue number arithmetic. An 8-bit equivalent filter based on the lossless discrete integrator (LDI) technique described by Bruton can be easily implemented using inexpensive commercially available PROM's for the table look-up. Computer Simulations of first- and second-order LDI-RNS filters indicate substantial cost savings and speed advantages. Experiments on a first-order section verify the basic operation, speed calculations, and cost analysis. Furthermore, extensions to more bits and higher order filters are possible.  相似文献

The design and implementation of switched-current (SI) ladder filters is described. The basic current-mode circuits, including the SI differential integrator/summer are developed. The SI integrator/summer is shown to be directly analogous to the switched-capacitor (SC) integrator/summer; thus, all the synthesis techniques developed for the design of SC filters can be used to synthesize SI filters. Signal flowgraph synthesis of SI ladder filters is presented. The nonideal characteristics of SI ladder filters that limit their accuracy are evaluated. Clock-feedthrough and device mismatch induced errors are more severe in the present SI circuit configurations than in SC circuits. A standard digital 2-μm n-well CMOS process has been used to implement two high-order ladder filters. Simulations accurately predict the measured results of the first integrated SI filters. The area and power dissipation are comparable to those obtained with the switched-capacitor technique  相似文献

A new procedure for the design of a real doubly complementary (DC) pair of digital filters obtained from an all-pass structure is presented. The filter design is based on a zero-phase FIR filter design with multi-band frequency specifications and approximate linear-phase characteristic. The resulting complex or real all-pass filter structure is guaranteed to be stable. Some examples illustrating the design method including comparisons with conventional approximately linear phase IIR filters are also shown  相似文献
