Two kinds of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), i.e., short carbon nanotubes (CNTs-1) synthesized by co-pyrolysis method and long carbon nanotubes (CNTs-2) produced using common CVD technique were comparatively investigated as anode materials for lithium ion batteries via transmission electron microscope (TEM), high-resolution TEM and a variety of electrochemical testing techniques. The test results showed that the reversible capacities of CNTs-1 electrode were 266 and 170 mAh g−1 at the current densities of 0.2 and 0.8 mA cm−2, respectively, which were almost twice those of CNTs-2 electrode. The larger voltage hysteresis in CNTs-2 electrode was not only related to the surface functional groups on CNTs, but also to the surface resistance of CNTs, which results in greater hindrance and higher overvoltage during lithium extraction from electrode. The kinetics properties of these two CNTs electrodes were compared by AC impedance measurements. It was found that, both the surface film and charge-transfer resistances of CNTs-1 were significantly lower than those of CNTs-2; the lithium diffusion coefficient (DLi) of both CNTs electrodes decreased as the drop of voltage, but the magnitude of the DLi variation of CNTs-1 electrode was smaller than that of CNTs-2 electrode, indicating CNTs-1 exhibited higher electrochemical activity and more favorable kinetic properties during charge and discharge process.  相似文献

The use of self-organized TiO2 nanotube arrays electrochemically grown onto Si is investigated for the fabrication of an alternative electrode dedicated to on-chip Li-ion 2D microbatteries. Discharge/charge curves and cycling performance are studied in lithium-anode electrochemical test cells for both amorphous and crystalline titania nanotubes. At 5 μA cm−2 amorphous TiO2 nanotube layers onto Si deliver a maximum areal capacity of 89 μAh cm−2 in the first reversible discharge and 56 μAh cm−2 over 50 cycles. We demonstrate that these nanostructured thin film electrodes showing such electrochemical performances are compatible with IC technology.  相似文献

A number of titania films have been produced through anodising high purity titanium from different suppliers in either the as-received state or following polishing and etching. Anodising was carried out galvanostatically for a period of 10 min in 0.2 M H2SO4. The performance of the films was then evaluated as potential anode materials for lithium batteries. Raman spectroscopy showed these films had spectra characteristic of anatase with the presence of some rutile whilst the spectra of the lithiated state was characteristic of the orthorhombic phase of LixTiO2.The surface condition in particular was found to have an effect on the electrochemical performance and properties of the films most notably on capacity fade. Whilst the electrodes produced from as-received titanium demonstrated stable cycle capacities after the initial few cycles, those on polished and etched substrates faded over 50 cycles. The best performing films offered a capacity of at least ∼48 μAh cm−2 over the 50 cycles. All the electrodes examined however did show signs of the film having being damaged as a result of electrochemical cycling. With the wide range of anodising parameters that can be altered there is considerable scope for optimising the electrochemical performance of films produced through such a technique.  相似文献

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used as a hydrogen bond functionalizing agent to modify multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Nanoparticles of Fe3O4 were then formed along the sidewalls of the as-modified CNTs by the chemical coprecipitation of Fe2+ and Fe3+ in the presence of CNTs in an alkaline solution. The structure and electrochemical performance of the Fe3O4/CNTs nanocomposite electrodes have been investigated in detail. Electrochemical tests indicated that at the 145th cycle, the CNTs-66.7 wt.%Fe3O4 nanocomposite electrode can deliver a high discharge capacity of 656 mAh g−1 and stable cyclic retention. The improvement of reversible capacity and cyclic performance of the Fe3O4/CNTs nanocomposite could be attributed to the nanosized Fe3O4 particles and the network of CNTs.  相似文献

This paper studies nickel oxide/silicon nanowires (NiO/SiNWs) as composite thin films in electrodes for electrochemical capacitors. The SiNWs as backbones were first prepared by chemical etching, and then the Ni/SiNW composite structure was obtained by electroless plating of nickel onto the surface of the SiNWs. Next, the NiO/SiNW nanocomposites were fabricated by annealing Ni/SiNW composites at different temperatures in an oxygen atmosphere. Once the electrodes were constructed, the electrochemical behavior of these electrodes was investigated with cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). In 2 M KOH solution, the electrode material was found to have novel capacitive characteristics. Finally, when the NiO/SiNW composites were annealed at 400 °C, the maximum specific capacitance value was found to be as high as 681 F g−1 (or 183 F cm−3), and the probing of the cycling life indicated that only about 3% of the capacity was lost after 1000 charge/discharge cycles. This study demonstrated that NiO/SiNW composites were the optimal electrode choice for electrochemical capacitors.  相似文献

A new amperometric glucose biosensor has been developed based on platinum (Pt) nanoparticles/polymerized ionic liquid-carbon nanotubes (CNTs) nanocomposites (PtNPs/PIL-CNTs). The CNTs was functionalized with polymerized ionic liquid (PIL) through directly polymerization of the ionic liquid, 1-vinyl-3-ethylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([VEIM]BF4), on carbon nanotubes and then used as the support for the highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles. The electrochemical performance of the PtNPs/PIL-CNTs modified glassy carbon (PtNPs/PIL-CNTs/GC) electrode has been investigated by typical electrochemical methods. The PtNPs/PIL-CNTs/GC electrode shows high electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of hydrogen peroxide. Taking glucose oxidase (GOD) as the model, the resulting amperometric glucose biosensor shows good analytical characteristics, such as a high sensitivity (28.28 μA mM−1 cm−2), wide linear range (up to 12 mM) and low detection limit (10 μM).  相似文献

Homogeneous and adherent polyaniline coatings were electrosynthesized on aluminum (Al) alloy 3004 (AA 3004) from an aqueous solution containing aniline and oxalic acid by using the galvanostatic polarization method. A higher applied current density in the polymerization stage proved to be the best condition to adopt for the synthesis of more compact and strongly adherent polyaniline coatings on Al. The corrosion performances of polyaniline coatings were investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution by the potentiodynamic polarization technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies reveal that the polyaniline acts as a protective layer on Al against corrosion in 3.5% NaCl solution. The current corrosion decreases significantly from 6.55 μA cm−2 for uncoated Al to 0.158 μA cm−2 for polyaniline-coated Al. The corrosion rate of the polyaniline-coated Al is found to be 5.17 × 10−4 mm year−1, which is ∼40 times lower than that observed for bare Al. The potential corrosion increases from −1.015 V versus SCE for uncoated Al to ∼−0.9 V versus SCE for polyaniline-coated Al electrodes. The positive shift of ∼0.11 V in potential corrosion indicates the protection of the Al surface by the polyaniline coatings. The synthesized coatings were characterized by UV-visible absorption spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Optical absorption spectroscopy reveals the formation of the emeraldine form of polyaniline. The results of this study clearly ascertain that the polyaniline has outstanding potential to protect the AA 3004 alloy against corrosion in a chloride environment.  相似文献

The electrochemical decoration of edge plane pyrolytic graphite electrode (EPPGE) with cobalt and cobalt oxide nanoparticles integrated with and without single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is described. Successful modification of the electrodes was confirmed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), AFM and EDX techniques. The electron transfer behaviour of the modified electrodes was investigated in [Fe(CN)6]3−/4− redox probe using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and discussed. The study showed that cobalt nanoparticles modified electrodes exhibit faster electron transfer behaviour than their oxides. The catalytic rate constant (K) obtained at the EPPGE-SWCNT-Co for nitrite at pH 7.4 and 3.0 are approximately the same (∼3 × 104 cm3 mol−1 s−1) while the limits of detection (LoD = 3.3δ/m) are in the μM order. From the adsorption stripping voltammetry, the electrochemical adsorption equilibrium constant β was estimated as (13.0 ± 0.1) × 103 M−1 at pH 7.4 and (56.7 ± 0.1) × 103 M−1 at pH 3.0 while the free energy change (ΔG°) due to the adsorption was estimated as −6.36 and −10.00 kJ mol−1 for nitrite at pH 7.4 and 3.0, respectively.  相似文献

The simultaneous voltammetric determination of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) has been achieved at a mesoporous carbon CMK-3 modified electrode in phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0). At the electrode both CC and HQ can cause a pair of quasi-reversible and well-defined redox peaks and their peak potential difference increases. In comparison with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and Vulcan XC-72 carbon modified electrodes the CMK-3 modified electrode shows larger peak currents and higher adsorbed amounts for the two dihydroxybenzene isomers. This is related to the higher specific surface area of CMK-3. Under the optimized conditions, the linear concentration ranges for CC and HQ are 5 × 10−7 to 3.5 × 10−5 M and 1 × 10−6 to 3 × 10−5 M, respectively. In the presence of 5 μM isomer, the linear concentration range of CC (or HQ) is 5 × 10−7 to 2.5 × 10−5 M (or 5 × 10−7 to 2.0 × 10−5 M). The sensitivity for CC or HQ is 41 A M−1 cm−2 or 52 A M−1 cm−2, which is close to that without isomer. The detection limits (S/N = 3) for CC and HQ are 1 × 10−7 M after preconcentration on open circuit for 240 s.  相似文献

Sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (S-PEEK) with different degree of sulfonation (DS) has been prepared and evaluated as a proton conducting membrane for electric double layer capacitor (EDLC). The polymer electrolytes prepared with S-PEEK membrane exhibited ionic conductivities about 1.2 × 10−3-4.5 × 10−3 S cm−1 at room temperature, which depended on both soaking solvent and degree of sulfonation. The quasi-solid-state EDLCs consisted of activated carbon electrodes and S-PEEK membrane were assembled, and their electrochemical characteristics were studied by cyclic voltammetry and charge-discharge cycle tests. The effect of DS on the electrochemical performances of EDLCs has been investigated.  相似文献

A novel electro-active material was successfully prepared with Fe(CN)63− ions loaded by electrostatic interaction onto the layer of poly(allylamine) hydrochloride (PAH), which was first assembled on prepared poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS)-doped porous calcium carbonate (CaCO3) microspheres. Further, an electrochemical sensor for use in ascorbic acid (AA) detection was constructed with the use of the above electro-active materials embedded into a chitosan (CS) sol-gel matrix as an electron mediator. The electrocatalytic oxidation of AA by ferricyanide was observed at the potential of 0.27 V, which was negative-shifted compared with that by direct electrochemical oxidation of AA on a glassy carbon electrode. The experimental parameters, including the pH value of testing solution and the applied potential for detection of AA, were optimized. The current electrochemical sensor not only exhibited a good reproducibility and storage stability, but also showed a fast amperometric response to AA in a linear range (1.0 × 10−6 to 2.143 × 10−3 M), a low detection limit (7.0 × 10−7 M), a fast response time (<6 s), and a high sensitivity (−4.5127 μA mM−1).  相似文献

Lead dioxide (PbO2) thin films were prepared on Ti/SnO2 substrates by means of electrodeposition method. Galvanostatic technique was applied in PbO2 film formation process, and the effect of deposition current on morphology and crystalline form of the PbO2 thin films was studied by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The energy storage capacity of the prepared PbO2 electrode was investigated by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and charge/discharge cycles, and a rough surface structure PbO2 film was selected as positive electrode in the construction of PbO2/AC hybrid capacitor in a 1.28 g cm−3 H2SO4 solution. The electrochemical performance was determined by charge/discharge tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that the PbO2/AC hybrid capacitor exhibited high capacitance, good cycling stability and long cycle life. In the voltage range of 1.8-0.8 V during discharge process, considering the weight of all components of the hybrid capacitor, including the two electrodes, current collectors, H2SO4 electrolyte and separator, the specific energy and power of the device were 11.7 Wh kg−1 and 22 W kg−1 at 0.75 mA cm−2, and 7.8 Wh kg−1 and 258 W kg−1 at 10 mA cm−2 discharge currents, respectively. The capacity retains 83% of its initial value after 3000 deep cycles at the 4 C rate of charge/discharge.  相似文献

Pd-Co alloy has been recently proposed as a catalyst for the cathode of direct methanol fuel cells with both excellent oxygen reduction activity and methanol tolerance, hence electrodeposition of this alloy is an attractive approach for synthesizing porous metal electrodes with high methanol tolerance in direct methanol fuel cells. In this study, we electrodeposited two types of Pd-Co films onto Au substrates by applying different current density (−10 or −200 mA cm−2); and then characterized them in terms of morphology, composition, crystal structure, and catalytic activity. Pd-Co deposited at −10 mA cm−2 was smooth and possessed smaller particles (ca. 10 nm), while that at −200 mA cm−2 was dendritic (or rough) and possessed larger particles (ca. 50 nm). Both the Pd-Co alloys were found to be almost the same structure, i.e. a solid solution of ca. Pd7Co3 with Pd-skin, and also confirmed to possess comparable activity in oxygen reduction to Pt (potential difference at 1.0 μA cm−2 was 0.05 V). As for methanol tolerance, cell-voltage was not influenced by addition of 1 mol dm−3 methanol to the oxidant solution. Our approach provides fundamental technique for synthesizing Pd-Co porous metal electrodes by electrodeposition.  相似文献

Three sets of electrodes, namely Pt electroplated Ti (PET) and diffusion annealed PET (DAPET) of plating thickness 3, 5, 7 and 10 μm and thermochemically glazed mixed oxide coated titanium anode (MOCTA-G) were evaluated for their performance, with a view to optimizing the current density conditions for maximum efficiency during the electrolytic destruction of nitric acid. In the acid killing by electro-reduction process, concentration of nitric acid in the high level waste (HLW) from the spent nuclear fuel reprocessing plant was brought down from about 4 to 0.5 M in order to reduce the amount of HLW by subsequent evaporation and to minimise the corrosion in waste tanks during storage of the concentrated waste solution. The electrochemical reduction of 4 and 8 M nitric acid to near neutral conditions was carried out with the above-said anodes and Ti cathode at various cathodic current densities ranging from 10 to 80 mA cm−2. At current densities below 15 mA cm−2 MOCTA-G electrode worked satisfactorily, whereas PET and DAPET electrodes could withstand and function well at much higher cathodic current densities (up to 80 mA cm−2). The life assessment of a 3 μm thick PET electrode at a cathodic current density of 60 mA cm−2 in 8 M HNO3 for a period of 110 h showed no failure. Phase identification of the plated electrodes was done by XRD measurements and their surface morphology was investigated by SEM.  相似文献

SnOx thin films were prepared by reactive radio frequency magnetron sputtering with different sputtering powers. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy suggested that all the films have similar chemical stoichiometry as SnO1.5. X-ray diffraction and transmission electro microscopy results showed that crystal size of the SnOx thin films gradually increases with increase of sputtering power from 50 to 150 W. Cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge/discharge cycling measurements indicated that the electrochemical properties of SnOx films strongly rely on their crystal sizes as well as surface morphologies. The SnOx film deposited at sputtering power of 120 W exhibits the best electrochemical performances. It could deliver a reversible capacity of 670 μAh cm−2 μm−1 at 50 μA cm−2 in the voltage range of 0.1-1.2 V up to 50 cycles.  相似文献

Graphene nanosheets (GNSs) with narrow mesopore distribution around 4 nm were mass-produced from natural graphite via the oxidation and rapid heating processes. The effects of oxidant addition on the morphology, structure and electrochemical performance of GNSs as electrode materials for electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) were systematically investigated. The electrochemical properties of EDLC were influenced by the specific surface area, pore characteristics, layer stacking and oxygen-containing functional group contents of electrode materials. Deeper oxidation makes graphite possess both higher specific surface area and more graphene edges, which are favorable for the enhancement of capacitive performance of EDLC. The electrodes with freestanding graphene nanosheets prepared by coating method exhibited good rate capability and reversibility at high scan rates (to 250 mV s−1) in electrochemical performances. GNS electrode with specific surface area of 524 m2 g−1 maintained a stable specific capacitance of 150 F g−1 under specific current of 0.1 A g−1 for 500 cycles of charge/discharge.  相似文献

The performances of the Ti-Pt/β-PbO2 and boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes in the electrooxidation of simulated wastewaters containing 85 mg L−1 of the Reactive Orange 16 dye were investigated using a filter-press reactor. The electrolyses were carried out at the flow rate of 7 L min−1, at different current densities (10-70 mA cm−2), and in the absence or presence of chloride ions (10-70 mM NaCl). In the absence of NaCl, total decolourisation of the simulated dye wastewater was attained independently of the electrode used. However, the performance of the BDD electrode was better than that of the Ti-Pt/β-PbO2 electrode; the total decolourisations were achieved by applying only 1.0 A h L−1 and 2.0 A h L−1, respectively. In the presence of NaCl, with the electrogeneration of active chlorine, the times needed for total colour removal were markedly decreased; the addition of 50 mM Cl or 35 mM Cl (for Ti-Pt/β-PbO2 or BDD, respectively) to the supporting electrolyte led to a 90% decrease of these times (at 50 mA cm−2). On the other hand, total mineralization of the dye in the presence of NaCl was attained only when using the BDD electrode (for 1.0 A h L−1); for the Ti-Pt/β-PbO2 electrode, a maximum mineralization of 85% was attained (for 2.0 A h L−1). For total decolourisation of the simulated dye wastewater, the energy consumption per unit mass of dye oxidized was only 4.4 kWh kg−1 or 1.9 kWh kg−1 using the Ti-Pt/β-PbO2 or BDD electrode, respectively. Clearly the BDD electrode proved to be the best anode for the electrooxidative degradation of the dye, either in the presence or absence of chloride ions.  相似文献

Nano-γ-Al2O3 is dispersed onto the glass carbon electrode (GCE) by polishing. This nanostructured modified GCE exhibits a great enhancement to the redox responses of 3-nitrobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone (3-NBT). In comparison with bare GCE, 3-NBT gives a more sensitive voltammetric response because of the nanoparticle’s unique properties. The lowest detectable concentration (3σ) of 3-NBT is estimated to be 1.18 × 10−6 M (accumulation for 4 min). The linear relationship between peak current and concentration of 3-NBT holds in the range 1.0 × 10−5 M to 1.0 × 10−4 M (r = 0.9981). The electrochemical properties of 3-NBT on this modified electrode have been investigated with various electrochemical methods. The results indicate that the transference of one electron and one proton involves electrode radical reaction processes I and II, respectively. The coverage value (Γ) of 1.62 × 10−9 mol cm−2 was calculated and the electrochemical parameters, diffusion coefficient D (2.54 × 10−3 cm2 s−1, 2.03 × 10−3 cm2 s−1) and reaction rate constant ks (5.9573 s−1, 7.15 × 10−2 cm s−1) were obtained for quasi-reversible system I and irreversible system II, respectively.  相似文献

A new method of using screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) incorporating the electrocatalyst cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPC) for the manufacture of tubular microband electrodes for hydrogen peroxide detection is described. Characterisation of these electrodes using potassium ferrocyanide, with cyclic voltammetry, has shown that steady state behaviour is displayed which is indicative of microelectrode behaviour. The current density obtained from the voltammogram was compared to that obtained for a conventional sized CoPC-SPCE, and the values were 5618 and 35.65 μA cm−2, respectively. Cyclic voltammetry was carried out for the same electrodes, using 7 mM H2O2 prepared in phosphate buffer at scan rates between 1 and 50 mV s−1 and no significant increase in current response was observed. The application of these tubular microband CoPC-SPCEs, to the measurement of H2O2 using chronoamperometry was investigated. A calibration study was performed and the plot showed a sensitivity value of 252 μA mM−1 cm−2 and a lower detection limit of 70 μM. We have shown that the chronoamperometric current response could be calculated using a modified equation originally developed for a plain microband electrode. This study provides a platform for using screen-printed carbon electrodes for the fabrication of oxidase based microbiosensors, for the determination of a variety of cellular metabolites.  相似文献

In the existing microbial fuel cells (MFCs), the use of platinized electrodes and Nafion® as proton exchange membrane (PEM) leads to high costs leading to a burden for wastewater treatment. In the present study, two different novel electrode materials are reported which can replace conventional platinized electrodes and can be used as very efficient oxygen reducing cathodes. Further, a novel membrane which can be used as an ion permeable membrane (Zirfon®) can replace Nafion® as the membrane of choice in MFCs. The above mentioned gas porous electrodes were first tested in an electrochemical half cell configuration for their ability to reduce oxygen and later in a full MFC set up. It was observed that these non-platinized air electrodes perform very well in the presence of acetate under MFC conditions (pH 7, room temperature) for oxygen reduction. Current densities of −0.43 mA cm−2 for a non-platinized graphite electrode and −0.6 mA cm−2 for a non-platinized activated charcoal electrode at −200 mV vs. Ag/AgCl of applied potential were obtained. The proposed ion permeable membrane, Zirfon® was tested for its oxygen mass transfer coefficient, K0 which was compared with Nafion®. The K0 for Zirfon® was calculated as 1.9 × 10−3 cm s−1.  相似文献
