For linear systems, it is known that there exists a state observer if and only if the system is detectable, or in other words, asymptotically stabilizable by output injection. In this paper, it is shown that asymptotic stabilizability by output injections is neither necessary nor sufficient for the construction of a nonlinear observer which may not have an exponential error decay rate. The concept of uniform observers is introduced and necessary conditions and sufficient conditions are given for the construction of uniform observers.  相似文献

A simple nonlinear observer with a dynamic gain is proposed for a class of bounded-state nonlinear systems subject to state delay. By saturating the states of the observer nonlinearities with either symmetric or non-symmetric saturation functions, we show that the observer exists, whatever the delay is. Furthermore, it will be highlighted that the observer design is free from any preliminary analysis of the time-delay system such as estimating the Lipschitz constants of nonlinearities. The proposed design encompasses a wide class of nonlinear and time-delay systems written in triangular form and generalizes previous results on delayless nonlinear systems.  相似文献

It has been shown that the state of a linear system can be constructed from observations of its inputs and outputs. The observer which performs the construction is itself a linear system with time constants which may be chosen by the designer. This linear asymptotic estimator has been used previously to stabilize certain types of contimuous nonlinear systems. In this paper, a linear sampled-data estimator is developed. This estimator is used first to stabilize a linear sampled-data system and then it is used to stabilize a class of nonlinear sampled-data systems by the choice of the estimator's time constants and the feedback gain. Typical example applications are analyzed to illustrate the theoretical investigations.  相似文献

We provide a method for constructing local observers for some nonlinear systems around a critical point where the linearization is not observable or not detectable. Two examples are provided to illustrate the results of the paper.  相似文献

This paper studies both the full order and the reduced order dead-beat observer problem for a class of nonlinear systems, linear in the unmeasured states. A novel hybrid observer design strategy is proposed, with the help of the notion of strong observability in finite time. The proposed methodology is applied for the estimation of the frequency of a sinusoidal signal. The results show that accurate estimation can be provided even if the signal is corrupted by high frequency noise. A brief discussion of the robustness properties of the proposed observer with respect to measurement errors is also provided.  相似文献

Accurate estimates of the outflow resistance of the human cerebrospinal fluid system are important for the diagnosis of a medical condition known as hydrocephalus. In this paper we design a nonlinear observer which provides on-line estimates of the outflow resistance, to the best of our knowledge the first method to do so. The output of the observer is proven to globally converge to an unbiased estimate. Its performance is experimentally verified using the same apparatus used to perform actual patient diagnoses and a specially-designed physical model of the human cerebrospinal fluid system.  相似文献

An observer for systems with nonlinear output map   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A nonlinear observer, with the feedback gain weighted by the sensitivity of the output with respect to the state, is developed for systems with nonlinear output map. The observer can be obtained from the extended Kalman filter by a special choice of time-varying weighting matrices. It is shown that the estimation error dynamics are asymptotically stable and a region of attraction is derived. The observer is applied to the top blown converter process for estimating the content of impurities in the liquid metal. Using plant data from the converter at SSAB Oxelösund AB, the observer is shown to provide accurate estimates of the carbon content.  相似文献

This paper deals with the design of interval observers for singularly perturbed linear systems. The full-order system is first decoupled into slow and fast subsystems. Then, using the cooperativity theory, an interval observer is designed for the slow and fast subsystems assuming that the measurement noise and the disturbances are bounded and the singular perturbed parameter is uncertain. This decoupling leads to two observers that estimate the lower and upper bounds for the feasible state domain. A numerical example shows the efficiency of the proposed technique.  相似文献

It is shown that for a class of stationary stochastic nonlinear systems (satisfying a global Lipschitz condition) the high-gain observer with a constant gain matrix may guarantee an upper bound for the averaged quadratic error of state estimation. The nonlinearity is assumed to be a priory known. The main contribution of this paper consists in designing of a numerical procedure for the optimal gain matrix minimizing this upper bound. The convergence analysis of this procedure is presented as well as an example illustrating its finite steps workability: it is shown that within a neighborhood of the optimal matrix gain the others provide lower estimation performance.  相似文献

This paper deals with the design of observers for a class of continuous time nonlinear multi‐input multi‐output systems with nonlinear outputs. Geometric tools are used to transform the original system into an appropriate observer canonical form. Furthermore, a pole placement technique is used to obtain a desired transient response of resulting error dynamics. The observer design is presented for two cases. In both cases, it is shown that the observer gain can be obtained from the solution of a Riccati equation. An illustrative example of state estimation in induction motors is presented to explain the proposed observer design. The performance of the method is also verified by numerical simulations. Preserving Order Observers provide an estimation that is always above or below the true variable, and in the absence of uncertainties/perturbations, the estimation converges asymptotically to the true value of the variable. In this paper, we propose a novel methodology to design preserving order observers for a class of nonlinear systems in the nominal case or when perturbations/uncertainties are present. This objective is achieved by combining two important systemic properties: dissipativity and cooperativity. Dissipativity is used to guarantee the convergence of the estimation error dynamics, whereas cooperativity of the error dynamics assures the order‐preserving properties of the observer. The use of dissipativity for observer design offers a big flexibility in the class of nonlinearities that can be considered while keeping the design simple: it leads in many situations to the solution of a linear matrix inequality (LMI). Cooperativity of the observer leads to an LMI. When both properties are considered simultaneously, the design of the observer can be reduced, in most cases, to the solution of both a bilinear matrix inequality and an LMI. Because a couple of preserving order observers, one above and one below, provide an interval observer, the proposed methodology unifies several interval observers design methods. The design methodology has been validated experimentally in a three‐tanks system, and it has also been tested numerically and compared with an example from the literature.Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to identify the class of nonlinear systems that have exponential observers - a concept introduced by previous authors. It is shown that a necessary condition for the existence of an exponential observer for a nonlinear system is that the corresponding linearized system is detectable, and for local exponential stabilization problems, the condition is also sufficient. This paper gives also a theorem on the separation property for the exponential design problem, and it enables us to tell exactly to what extent the classical local linearization approach is applicable.  相似文献

Semi-global finite-time observers for nonlinear systems   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5

It is well known that high gain observers exist for single output nonlinear systems that are uniformly observable and globally Lipschitzian. Under the same conditions, we show that these systems admit semi-global and finite-time converging observers. This is achieved with a derivation of a new sufficient condition for local finite-time stability, in conjunction with applications of geometric homogeneity and Lyapunov theories.  相似文献

This article considers the problem of estimating a partial set of the state vector and/or unknown input vector of linear systems driven by unknown inputs and time-varying delay in the state variables. Three types of reduced-order observers, namely, observers with delays, observers without internal delays and delay-free observers are proposed in this article. Existence conditions and design procedures are presented for the determination of parameters for each case of observers. Numerical examples are presented to illustrate the design procedures.  相似文献

In this work, we propose a distributed moving horizon state estimation (DMHE) design for a class of nonlinear systems with bounded output measurement noise and process disturbances. Specifically, we consider a class of nonlinear systems that are composed of several subsystems and the subsystems interact with each other via their subsystem states. First, a distributed estimation algorithm is designed which specifies the information exchange protocol between the subsystems and the implementation strategy of the DMHE. Subsequently, a local moving horizon estimation (MHE) scheme is designed for each subsystem. In the design of each subsystem MHE, an auxiliary nonlinear deterministic observer that can asymptotically track the corresponding nominal subsystem state when the subsystem interactions are absent is taken advantage of. For each subsystem, the nonlinear deterministic observer together with an error correction term is used to calculate a confidence region for the subsystem state every sampling time. Within the confidence region, the subsystem MHE is allowed to optimize its estimate. The proposed DMHE scheme is proved to give bounded estimation errors. It is also possible to tune the convergence rate of the state estimate given by the DMHE to the actual system state. The performance of the proposed DMHE is illustrated via the application to a reactor-separator process example.  相似文献

The problem of observers for discrete-time nonlinear systems has been considered and a simple, easy-to-implement algorithm is given whose convergence properties are guaranteed for autonomous and forced systems. Some numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed observer.  相似文献

It is well-known that critical infrastructures would be targets for cyber attacks. In this paper, we focus on the power systems (i.e. smart grids) in ubiquitous cities, where every meter is linked to an information network through wireless networking. In a smart grid system, information from smart meters would be used to perform a state estimation in real time to maintain the stability of the system. A wrong estimation may lead to disastrous consequences (e.g. suspension of electricity supply or a big financial loss). Unfortunately, quite a number of recent results showed that attacks on this estimation process are feasible by manipulating readings of only a few meters. In this paper, we focus on nonlinear state estimation which is a more realistic model and widely employed in a real power grid environment. We category cyber attacks against nonlinear state estimation, and review the mechanisms behind. State-of-the-art security measures to detect these attacks are discussed via sensor protection. Hope that the community would be able to come up with a secure system architecture for ubiquitous cities.  相似文献

The problem of compensation of arbitrary large input delay for nonlinear systems was solved recently with the introduction of the nonlinear predictor feedback. In this paper we solve the problem of compensation of input delay for nonlinear systems with simultaneous input and state delays of arbitrary length. The key challenge, in contrast to the case of only input delay, is that the input delay-free system (on which the design and stability proof of the closed-loop system under predictor feedback are based) is infinite-dimensional. We resolve this challenge and we design the predictor feedback law that compensates the input delay. We prove global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system using two different techniques—one based on the construction of a Lyapunov functional, and one using estimates on solutions. We present two examples, one of a nonlinear delay system in the feedforward form with input delay, and one of a scalar, linear system with simultaneous input and state delays.  相似文献

This paper investigates the use of guaranteed methods to perform state and parameter estimation for nonlinear continuous-time systems, in a bounded-error context. A state estimator based on a prediction-correction approach is given, where the prediction step consists in a validated integration of an initial value problem for an ordinary differential equation (IVP for ODE) using interval analysis and high-order Taylor models, while the correction step uses a set inversion technique. The state estimator is extended to solve the parameter estimation problem. An illustrative example is presented for each part.  相似文献
