In this paper, we propose to perform a numerical technique based on genetic algorithms (GAs) to identify the electrical parameters (Is, Iph, Rs, Rsh, and n) of photovoltaic (PV) solar cells and modules. These parameters were used to determine the corresponding maximum power point (MPP) from the illuminated current-voltage (I-V) characteristic. The one diode type approach is used to model the AM1.5 I-V characteristic of the solar cell. To extract electrical parameters, the approach is formulated as a non convex optimization problem. The GAs approach was used as a numerical technique in order to overcome problems involved in the local minima in the case of non convex optimization criteria. Compared to other methods, we find that the GAs is a very efficient technique to estimate the electrical parameters of PV solar cells and modules. Indeed, the race of the algorithm stopped after five generations in the case of PV solar cells and seven generations in the case of PV modules. The identified parameters are then used to extract the maximum power working points for both cell and module.  相似文献

In order to fabricate low cost and printable CuInxGa1−xSeyS2−y (CIGS) thin film solar cells, a precursor solution based method was developed. Particularly, in this method, nearly carbon-free CIGS film was obtained by applying a three-step heat treatment process: the first for the elimination of carbon residue by air annealing, the second for the formation of CIGS alloy by sulfurization, and the third for grain growth and densification in the CIGS film by selenization. The film also revealed very large grains with a low degree of porosity, similar to those produced by the vacuum based method. A solar cell device with this film showed current-voltage characteristics of Jsc=21.02 mA/cm2, Voc=451 mV, FF=47.3%, and η=4.48% at standard conditions.  相似文献

We report on the growth of Zn1−xMgxO (ZMO) thin films on quartz substrate using pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. The influence of varying Mg composition on structural, electrical and optical properties of ZMO films has been systematically investigated. Increase in Mg content (in the range 0.0?x?1.0), reflects the structural phase transition from wurtzite via mixed phase region to cubic one. X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies indicate the hexagonal wurtzite phase at Mg composition ranging from 0% to 30%; mixture of wurtzite and cubic phases for 40% and single cubic phase at Mg content greater than 50%. The variation of the cation-anion bond length to Mg content shows that the lattice constant of the hexagonal ZMO decreases with corresponding increase in Mg content, which result in the structure gradually deviating from the wurtzite structure. The optical measurements reveal a blue shift in absorption edge and increase in transmittance from 75% to 96% with increase in Mg content. Tuning of the band gap has been obtained from 3.41 to 6.58 eV with corresponding increase in Mg content from x=0.0 to 1.0, which demonstrates that the films are useful for window layer of solar cells that improve the overall efficiency by decreasing the absorption loss.  相似文献

Directly harnessed solar power is an attractive primary energy source for integration into fully wire-free, self-sufficient, portable electronic devices. Maximum power (MPP) tracking of photovoltaic (PV) cells is an essential part of PV energy harvesting and several methods are available to track MPP efficiently. With more than one cell, power-balancing is also a significant concern and global MPP tracking, parallel connection of PV cells, and active array reconfiguration are all techniques designed to address this issue. This work shrinks array reconfiguration from two-dimensional arrays of PV cells to a single string of PV cells, which are particularly relevant to portable systems. Each string element has individual MPP tracking and power balancing at low circuit complexity using a modular, time-domain array-reconfiguration (TDAR) approach. Both, a discrete control loop that demonstrates the concept and a 150 μW microchip that implements TDAR for three PV cells were developed. The energy harvesting efficiency of the TDAR approach is more than 80% improved compared to static (non-reconfigurable) strings of PV cells. While other array reconfiguration approaches can offer comparable improvements in efficiency, the reduced complexity of the TDAR approach makes it the only scalable approach that can be practically applied to array reconfiguration in portable systems.  相似文献

Micro-cracks in wafer based silicon solar cell modules are nowadays identified by a human observer with the electroluminescence (EL) method. However, the essential question of how the micro-cracks affect the PV module performance has yet to be answered. We experimentally analyze the direct impact of micro-cracks on the module power and the consequences after artificial aging. We show that the immediate effect of micro-cracks on the module power is small, whereas the presence of micro-cracks is potentially crucial for the performance of the module after artificial ageing. This confirms the necessity to develop the means of quantifying the risk of power loss in PV modules with cracked solar cells in their lifetime, in order to enable manufacturers to discard defective modules with high risk of failure while keeping modules with uncritical micro-cracks. As a first step towards risk estimation we develop an upper bound for the potential power loss of PV modules due to micro-cracks in the solar cells. This is done by simulating the impact of inactive solar cell fragments on the power of a common PV module type and PV array. We show that the largest inactive cell area of a double string protected by a bypass diode is most relevant for the power loss of the PV module. A solar cell with micro-cracks, which separate a part of less than 8% of the cell area, results in no power loss in a PV module or a PV module array for all practical cases. In between approximately 12 and 50% of inactive area of a single cell in the PV module the power loss increases nearly linearly from zero to the power of one double string.  相似文献

An adjustment of a conduction band offset (CBO) of a window/absorber heterointerface is important for high efficiency Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells. In this study, the heterointerface recombination was characterized by the reduction of the thickness of a CdS layer and the adjustment of a CBO value by a Zn1−xMgxO (ZMO) layer. In ZnO/CdS/CIGS solar cells, open-circuit voltage (Voc) and shunt resistance (Rsh) decreased with reducing the CdS thickness. In constant, significant reductions of Voc and Rsh were not observed in ZMO/CdS/CIGS solar cells. With decreasing the CdS thickness, the CBO of (ZnO or ZMO)/CIGS become dominant for recombination. Also, the dominant mechanisms of recombination of the CIGS solar cells are discussed by the estimation of an activation energy obtained from temperature-dependent current-voltage measurements.  相似文献

Ti1−xAlxN thin films were deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering. The obtained different stoichiometries give rise to different optical properties as the films change from metallic to dielectric. In this work the IR reflectivity of these coatings is investigated taking into account different application fields for IR selective Ti1−xAlxN thin films.Low Al content coatings present high reflectivity, high absorptance and low thermal emittance. High Al compositions give raise to coatings with high absorptance and high thermal emittance. The composition of the coatings was evaluated combining electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a columnar structure. Reflectance spectra for the visible and infrared spectral ranges were used to obtain the solar absorptance and thermal emittance values, used to calculate the equilibrium temperature of the coatings. The thermal stability in air from 300 to 600 °C was also evaluated.  相似文献

Here in the present paper, we report on growth of stoichiometric and nonstoichiometric nanostructured heterojunction solar cell of CdS/CuInSXSe2-X varying X from 0 to 2 in the interval of 0.5 using cost effective, simple, chemical ion exchange method at room temperature on ITO glass substrate. The as-grown varying composition solar cells annealed at 200 °C in air and characterized for structural, compositional, optical and illumination studies. The X-ray diffraction pattern obtained from CdS/CuInSXSe2-X solar cell confirms the formation of CuInSe2, CuInS0.5Se1.5, CuInS1Se1, CuInS1.5Se0.5 and CuInS2 phases having tetragonal structure with varying crystallite size from 19, 19.37, 28, 33 and 20 nm respectively. The energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) confirms the expected elemental composition in the heterojunction solar cell. Optical absorbance analysis confirms composition controlled electronic transitions in the thin films while energy band gap observed to be red shifted with increase the value of X. The solar energy conversion efficiency achieved upon illuminating to 100 mW/cm2 observed to be 0.27%, 0.06%, 0.17%, 0.02% and 0.23% for CuInSe2, CuInS0.5Se1.5, CuInS1Se1, CuInS1.5Se0.5 and CuInS2 respectively, which correspond for stoichiometric dependent electron-hole pair generation and separation phenomenon.  相似文献

Solar air conditioning system directly driven by stand-alone solar PV is studied. The air conditioning system will suffer from loss of power if the solar PV power generation is not high enough. It requires a proper system design to match the power consumption of air conditioning system with a proper PV size. Six solar air conditioners with different sizes of PV panel and air conditioners were built and tested outdoors to experimentally investigate the running probabilities of air conditioning at various solar irradiations. It is shown that the instantaneous operation probability (OPB) and the runtime fraction (RF) of the air conditioner are mainly affected by the design parameter rpL (ratio of maximum PV power to load power). The measured OPB is found to be greater than 0.98 at instantaneous solar irradiation IT > 600 W m−2 if rpL > 1.71. RF approaches 1.0 (the air conditioner is run in 100% with solar power) at daily-total solar radiation higher than 13 MJ m−2 day−1, if rpL > 3.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new alternative for improving both the performance of photovoltaic (PV) systems and the efficiency of the energy conversion by using different configuration of power converters. For this purpose, a comparative study between two configurations is carried out. The first configuration consists of a classical PV generator with a single centralized high power converter and the second one concerns a distributed topology. For this latter we use a certain number of PV strings with low power converters attached in series, in parallel or in a combination of series and parallel. Obviously the string topology has some advantages. Each power converter can control the power conversion of each module individually, which results in increased overall energy conversion of the entire system. The MPPT control system in this case can react effectively to atmospheric variations, to shading effect and to changes in the load. The PV system still operates even in case of failure on one of the power converters in a string. We simulated and compared the different conversion configurations in order to find the best one in terms of efficiency and produced energy. The obtained results are very interesting and can lead to optimal sizing and selection of best PV topology for a given application.  相似文献

China and India are embarking on ambitious initiatives over the next decade to expand solar photovoltaic (PV) power in underserved regions. China proposes adding 1.6 GW of solar capacity by 2020, while India plans 12 GW in addition to 20 million solar lanterns by 2022. These technologies rely heavily on lead-acid batteries (LABs) for storage. China and India’s lead mining, battery production, and recycling industries are relatively inefficient—33% and 22% environmental loss rates, respectively. Based on the quantity of lead batteries employed in existing PV systems, we estimate environmental lead emissions in China and India for new units installed under their solar energy goals. The average loss rates are 12 kg (China) and 8.5 kg (India) of lead lost per kW-year of installed PV capacity in these countries. The planned systems added in China and India will be responsible for 386 and 2030 kt of environmental lead loss, respectively, over their lifespan—equal to 1/3 of global lead production in 2009. Investments in environmental controls in lead smelting, battery manufacturing, and recycling industries along with improvements in battery take-back policies should complement deployment of solar PV systems to mitigate negative impacts of lead pollution.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF), and relative efficiency of monograin Cu2ZnSn(SexS1−x)4 solar cell was measured. The light intensity was varied from 2.2 to 100 mW/cm2 and temperatures were in the range of = 175-300 K. With a light intensity of 100 mW/cm2dVoc/dT was determined to be −1.91 mV/K and the dominating recombination process at temperatures close to room temperature was found to be related to the recombination in the space-charge region. The solar cell relative efficiency decreases with temperature by 0.013%/K. Our results show that the diode ideality factor n does not show remarkable temperature dependence and slightly increases from n = 1.85 to n = 2.05 in the temperature range between 175 and 300 K.  相似文献

Spectrally selective AlxOy/Al/AlxOy multilayer absorber coatings were deposited on copper (Cu) and molybdenum (Mo) substrates using a pulsed sputtering system. The Al targets were sputtered using asymmetric bipolar-pulsed DC generators in Ar+O2 and Ar plasmas to deposit an AlxOy/Al/AlxOy coating. The compositions and thicknesses of the individual component layers were optimized to achieve high solar absorptance (α=0.950-0.970) and low thermal emittance (ε=0.05-0.08). The X-ray diffraction data in thin film mode showed an amorphous structure of the AlxOy/Al/AlxOy coating. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data of the AlxOy/Al/AlxOy multilayer absorber indicated that the AlxOy layers present in the coating were non-stoichiometric. The optical constants (n and k) of the multilayer absorber were determined from the spectroscopic ellipsometric data. Drude's free-electron model was used for generating the theoretical dispersion of optical constants for Al films, while the Tauc-Lorentz model was used for modeling optical properties of the dielectric AlxOy layers. In order to study the thermal stability of the AlxOy/Al/AlxOy coatings, they were subjected to heat treatment (in air and vacuum) at different temperatures and durations. The multilayer absorber deposited on Cu substrates exhibited high solar selectivity (α/ε) of 0.901/0.06 even after heat-treatment in air up to 400 °C for 2 h. At 450 °C, the solar selectivity decreased significantly on Cu substrates (e.g., α/ε=0.790/0.07). The coatings deposited on Mo substrates were thermally stable up to 800 °C in vacuum with a solar selectivity of 0.934/0.05. The structural stability of the absorber coatings heat treated in air (up to 400 °C) and vacuum (up to 800 °C) was confirmed by micro-Raman spectroscopy measurements. Studies on the accelerated aging tests suggested that the absorber coatings on Cu were stable in air up to 75 h at 300 °C and the service lifetime of the multilayer absorber was predicted to be more than 25 years. Further, the activation energy for the degradation of the multilayer absorber heat treated for longer durations in air is of the order of 64 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays in field conditions deliver lower power than the array rating. In this paper, the sensitivity of solar cell parameters in the variation of available power from the array is investigated. The parameters characteristic of aging and fresh cells used in prototype field systems have been used for computation of reduction in the available power. It is found that in series string the fractional power loss would increase from 2% to 12% with aging of solar cells. However, this fractional power loss may be reduced to 0.4–2.4% by an appropriate series-paralleling.  相似文献

The SrCo0.9Sb0.1O3−δ (SCS) composite oxide with cubic perovskite structure was synthesized by a modified Pechini method and examined as a novel cathode for protonic ceramic membrane fuel cells (PCMFCs). At 700 °C and under open-circuit condition, symmetrical SCS cathode on BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.2O3−δ (BZCY7) electrolyte showed low polarization resistances (Rp) of 0.22 Ωcm2 in air. A laboratory-sized tri-layer cell of NiO–BZCY7/BZCY7/SCS was operated from 500 to 700 °C with humidified hydrogen (∼3% H2O) as fuel and the static air as oxidant. A high open-circuit potential of 1.004 V, a maximum power density of 259 mW cm−2, and a low polarization resistance of the electrodes of 0.14 Ωcm2 was achieved at 700 °C.  相似文献

TiO2 nanorods (NRs) were synthesized by hydrolysis of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) using oleic acid (99%) as surfactant at low temperatures (80-100 °C) and are modified with different ligands: oleic acid (OLA), n-octyl-phosphonic acid (OPA) and thiophenol (TP) in order to investigate the effect of surface ligand on the excition dissociation and the charge transport in hybrid MEH-PPV/TiO2 photovoltaic (PV) cells. The morphology and crystalline form of as-prepared TiO2 NRs are examined by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman spectrometer (RS). The FTIR analysis confirms all the ligands coordinated with the Ti center of TiO2 NRs. The optical properties of the modified TiO2 NRs are characterized by UV-vis absorption spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. Thiophenol modified TiO2 NRs quench the PL of MEH-PPV more effectively than OLA-TiO2 NRs and OPA-TiO2 NRs. The power conversion efficiency of hybrid PV cells from thiophenol modified TiO2 NRs and MEH-PPV is the highest among the investigated TiO2 NRs.  相似文献

The path towards a high-performance solution-processed kesterite solar cell   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Despite the promise of thin-film Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 (CIGSSe) chalcopyrite and CdTe photovoltaic technologies with respect to reducing cost per watt of solar energy conversion, these approaches rely on elements that are either costly and/or rare in the earth's crust (e.g., In, Ga, Te) or that present toxicity issues (e.g., Cd), thereby potentially limiting these technologies in terms of future cost reduction and production growth. In order to develop a photovoltaic technology that is truly compatible with terawatt deployment, it is desirable to consider material systems that employ less toxic and lower cost elements, while maintaining the advantages of the chalcopyrite and CdTe materials with respect to appropriate direct band gap tunability over the solar spectrum, high device performance (e.g., >10% power conversion efficiency) and compatibility with low-cost manufacturing. In this review, the development of kesterite-based Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) thin-film solar cells, in which the indium and gallium from CIGSSe are replaced by the readily available elements zinc and tin, will be reviewed. While vacuum-deposited devices have enabled optimization within the compositional phase space and yielded selenium-free CZTS device efficiencies of as high as 6.8%, more recently a liquid-based approach has been described that has enabled deposition of CZTSSe devices with power conversion efficiency of 9.7%, bringing the kesterite-based technology into a range of potential commercial interest. Electrical characterization studies on these high-performance CZTSSe cells reveal some of the key loss mechanisms (e.g., dominant interface recombination, high series resistance and low minority carrier lifetime) that limit the cell performance. Further elucidation of these mechanisms, as well as building an understanding of long-term device stability, are required to help propel this relatively new technology forward.  相似文献

Amorphous Mgx(LaNi3)100−x (x = 40, 50, 60, 70) alloys with ribbon shape (5 mm wide, 0.2 mm thick) have been prepared by rapid solidification, using a melt-spinning technique. Their microstructure, hydrogen storage properties and thermal stability were studied by means of XRD, SEM, PCTPro2000 and DSC analysis, respectively. The results indicated that when Mgx(LaNi3)100−x alloys have been hydrogenated at 573 K under 2 MPa hydrogen pressure, LaH3 phase is formed in the case of x (x = 40, 50, 60, 70), Mg2NiH4 phase formed in the case of x (x = 40, 50, 60, 70), Mg2NiH0.3 phase formed in the case of x (x = 40, 50), and MgH2 phase formed in the case of x = 70. Experimental data of hydrogen desorption kinetics, tested at 523 K, 573 K and 623 K, are in good agreement with Avrami–Erofeev equation. The maximum hydrogen absorption capacity is 2.71 wt.% for Mg70(LaNi3)30 and 2.35 wt.% for Mg70(LaNi3)30, the increase of hydrogen desorption capacity is in the order of x = 70 > x = 60 > x = 50 > x = 40. Based on DSC analysis, the activation energies for dehydrogenation of these samples are calculated to be 122 ± 2 kJ/mol (x = 40) > 101 ± 3 kJ/mol (x = 50) > 84 ± 5 kJ/mol (x = 60) > 64 ± 3 kJ/mol (x = 70), which are in agreement with the results of hydrogen desorption kinetics.  相似文献

The 1 axis-3 position (1A-3P) sun tracking PV was built and tested to measure the daily and long-term power generation of the solar PV system. A comparative test using a fixed PV and a 1A-3P tracking PV was carried out with two identical stand-alone solar-powered LED lighting systems. The field test in the particular days shows that the 1A-3P tracking PV can generate 35.8% more electricity than the fixed PV in a partly-cloudy weather with daily-total solar irradiation HT = 11.7 MJ/m2 day, or 35.6% in clear weather with HT = 18.5 MJ/m2 day. This indicates that the present 1A-3P tracking PV can perform very close to a dual-axis continuous tracking PV (Kacira et al., 2004). The long-term outdoor test results have shown that the increase of daily power generation of 1A-3P tracking PV increases with increasing daily-total solar irradiation. The increase of monthly-total power generation for 1A-3P sun tracking PV is between 18.5-28.0%. The total power generation increase in the test period from March 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011, is 23.6% in Taipei (an area of low solar energy resource). The long-term performance of the present 1X-3P tracking PV is shown very close to the 1-axis continuous tracking PV in Taiwan (Chang, 2009). If the 1A-3P tracking PV is used in the area of high solar energy resource with yearly-average HT > 17 MJ/m2 day, the increase of total long-term power generation with respect to fixed PV will be higher than 37.5%. This is very close to that of dual-axis continuous tracking PV.The 1A-3P tracker can be easily mounted on the wall of a building. The cost of the whole tracker is about the same as the regular mounting cost of a conventional rooftop PV system. This means that there is no extra cost for 1A-3P PV mounted on buildings. The 1A-3P PV is quite suitable for building-integrated applications.  相似文献

This study investigates the characteristics of fuel NOx formation resulting from the combustion of producer gas derived from biomass gasification using different feedstocks. Common industrial burners are optimized for using natural gas or coal-derived syngas. With the increasing demand in using biomass for power generation, it is important to develop burners that can mitigate fuel NOx emissions due to the combustion of ammonia, which is the major nitrogen-containing species in biomass-derived gas. In this study, the combustion process inside the burner is modeled using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with detailed chemistry. A reduced mechanism (36 species and 198 reactions) is developed from GRI 3.0 in order to reduce the computation time. Combustion simulations are performed for producer gas arising from different feedstocks such as wood gas, wood + 13% DDGS (dried distiller grain soluble) gas and wood + 40% DDGS gas and also at different air equivalence ratios ranging from 1.2 to 2.5. The predicted NOx emissions are compared with the experimental data and good levels of agreement are obtained. It is found out that NOx is very sensitive to the ammonia content in the producer gas. Results show that although NO–NO2 interchanges are the most prominent reactions involving NO, the major NO producing reactions are the oxidation of NH and N at slightly fuel rich conditions and high temperature. Further analysis of results is conducted to determine the conditions favorable for NOx reduction. The results indicate that NOx can be reduced by designing combustion conditions which have fuel rich zones in most of the regions. The results of this study can be used to design low NOx burners for combustion of gas mixtures derived from gasification of biomass. One suggestion to reduce NOx is to produce a diverging flame using a bluff body in the flame region such that NO generated upstream will pass through the fuel rich flame and be reduced.  相似文献
