The mobile Internet, which gives access to the World Wide Web through a mobile device, has been gaining in popularity. The mobile Internet differs from the traditional stationary Internet in that it can be used in a wider variety of contexts. However, no studies have identified the contexts in which mobile Internet services are used most frequently, or determined which contexts exert significant influence on a user's choice of mobile service. This article proposes a framework of use contexts that reflects the characteristics of the mobile Internet. To explore these contexts, a research method was devised and a longitudinal monitoring study was conducted. The results indicate that mobile Internet use is heavily clustered around a few key contexts, rather than dispersed widely over diverse contexts. Further, participants in the monitoring study were found to concentrate their use on a few mobile services, rather than on exploring diverse services. Perhaps most interestingly, some contextual factors were found to correlate closely with the selection of specific mobile Internet services. On the basis of these results, the article concludes with implications for developers of mobile Internet services.  相似文献

This study aims to clarify whether and how the portal sites in wired Internet environments can enhance their positions as market leaders in the mobile environment.The result may explain that the user’s trust in the mobile services of portal sites (the mobile portal services) is related to the site’s quality and the site’s brand equity significantly and is a mediator to increase the user’s intention to use mobile portal services. This study also explains that the user’s experience with a smartphone can encourage portal users to expect that the mobile portal services are useful and that the experience can link brand equity in certain business environments to trust in the brand in other business environments. Site quality including the design quality of portal sites can affect the user’s trust in the mobile services of the portal sites directly and can affect the user’s intention to use the mobile portal services under certain conditions. Practically, this study suggests that portal sites should focus on designing and developing more usable sites with high-quality UI components—convenient menu navigation, a proper UI design, and usable content rather depend on their current position as the leading companies in the wired Internet environment.  相似文献

After more than a decade of development work and hopes, the usage of mobile Internet has finally taken off. Now, we are witnessing the first signs of evidence of what might become the explosion of mobile content and applications that will be shaping the (mobile) Internet of the future. Similar to the wired Internet, search will become very relevant for the usage of mobile Internet. Current research on mobile search has applied a limited set of methodologies and has also generated a narrow outcome of meaningful results. This article covers new ground, exploring the use and visions of mobile search with a users' interview-based qualitative study. Its main conclusion builds upon the hypothesis that mobile search is sensitive to a mobile logic different than today's one. First, (advanced) users ask for accessing with their mobile devices the entire Internet, rather than subsections of it. Second, success is based on new added-value applications that exploit unique mobile functionalities. The authors interpret that such mobile logic involves fundamentally the use of personalised and context-based services.  相似文献

在移动网络中,移动用户对Internet的访问,具有与通常的外部Internet网络不同的特点。移动用户发出的对信息内容的请求(例如询问前方交通情况和路线),以及无线Internet信息提供商主动向移动用户发出的信息(例如移动用户附近的商品信息广告),与移动用户的位置、移动状态(方向、速度)和个人情况(userprofile)等有关。因此,要建立恰当的无线Internet流量模型和实现QoS(业务质量)控制,需要考虑用户的移动特性和在不同移动状态下访问Internet的概率分布。该文将建立一个新的定量分析模型,用半马尔可夫过程和一般的状态空间来描述移动用户的行为;并基于该移动模型,建立相应的移动用户对信息内容的访问模型、描述移动用户请求的到达过程;进而得到无线Internet业务质量参数的估计,即无线Internet对移动用户请求的平均响应时间、对无线侧和有线侧传输带宽的需求等;利用这些结果,可以实现无线资源的动态分配和允入控制。该文还将分析无线代理网关的性能、缓存容量需求,并给出改善平均响应时间的可行方案。最后用计算机模拟对提出的理论分析进行验证。  相似文献

The mobile Internet allows users to obtain digitized contents and services from wired and wireless networks virtually anywhere at any time via different handheld mobile devices. However, due to the distinct features of mobile users, mobile devices and wireless networks, deploying mobile services is not as straightforward as generally expected. To ensure the success of mobile services, this paper presents a multi-agent framework that considers different contexts to support personalized services on wireless networks. In the proposed approach, client users, content providers, and service providers are all considered as software agents. They interoperate on the same platform to request and deliver mobile services. The most important issues related to agent operations and context awareness in an agent world are also discussed and analyzed. To verify our framework, different application services are developed accordingly on a publicly available middleware platform. Experiments are conducted for both services to evaluate their corresponding performance. The preliminary results show that our multi-agent approach to personalization is promising and efficient in the deployment of mobile services.  相似文献

Designing mobile information services, including mobile Internet services, mobile banking, interactive mobile television, location-based services etc. that capture a mass market has not been easy, and there have been many disappointments over the past years. There are still uncertainties with regard to the kinds of mobile services users want and need. We argue that users wants and needs depend on their context, which means that users should play an important role in the design process of mobile information services, through a structured approach in which developers and users work together. In this paper, we present a group-based approach to include the user early on in the design process in an efficient way. We have applied the group-based approach in three cases, i.e. mobile services for campus visitors, wireless applications for the process industry and services for crisis management. In all cases, involving users early on in the design process enabled the developers to gather useful information for designing mobile information services.  相似文献
