Efflorescence Resulting from Pyrite in Clay Raw Materials

In opening this investigation on the effect of pyrite on the efflorescence of structural clay products, the oxidation behavior of this sulfide was studied. The slow oxidation rate and the evolution of 2 moles of sulfur dioxide for every mole of pyrite present combined to make this impurity the major source of efflorescing salts. The retention of part of the sulfur dioxide by the clay material and the subsequent efflorescence tendency were found to depend on the composition, on the concentration of sulfurous gases, on the temperature of firing, on the time of firing, and on the duration of exposure to sulfur dioxide in the manufacturing process. The conditions necessary to reduce efflorescence from this source are described. The use of ammonium chloride to assist in the control of efflorescence was studied in detail.     

Retention of Sulfates by Fired Clay Products

Sulfate is retained in a fired clay product as adsorbed sulfur trioxide and sulfate salts. These salts react with silicates at temperatures within the firing range of clay products, but the reaction rates and mechanisms may prevent the reaction from going to completion. The mechanism of efflorescence has been clarified by these studies.     

粘土类陶瓷原料仪器分析参数选择的研究

本文利用扫描电子显微镜、X射线衍射仪、综合热分析仪等仪器设备,在不同参数条件下分析了山东蒙阴粘土和江西新庄镁土的微观形貌、矿物组成、热性能等特性,摸索粘土类坯用陶瓷原料仪器设备分析的最优试验参数,为建立合理快速的分析方法以及陶瓷原料标准化奠定基础.     

Backup Materials as a Source of Efflorescence

Because white stains on the face of brick masonry walls are often the same salts that are associated with Portland cement, an investigation was made to determine whether efflorescing salts can originate in concrete backup block. The soluble-salts content was determined for selected clap brick, concrete block, and clay tile; wick tests were run on the material. Composite walls were built of nonefflorescing brick backed with clay tile or with concrete block; high humidity was maintained on the back side of the walls and the moisture was allowed to migrate to the dry brick face. The discoloration of the face brick was compared and the salts were identified.     

生产冰晶石原料粘土酸浸取液除铁实验研究

研究了粘土酸浸取液中铁的去除方法,试验了亚铁氰化钾法和控制pH法对粘土浸取液的除铁效果。测定了粘土酸浸取液中铁铝的含量,确定了以碳酸氢钠调节溶液pH使铁形成氢氧化铁非晶型沉淀的除铁方法。实验表明:控制溶液pH为3.0,反应温度90℃,保温时间20分钟。粘土浸取液中铁的含量可降至0.8克/升,完全满足冰晶石生产工艺中铁含量小于2.3克/升的指标要求。     

利用锦西原料研制釉面砖

以实验为基础，采用正交设计法制定了以锦西青矸子和红矸子为主要原料的釉面砖坯料配方，并试制出低锆强乳浊釉．经检测，制品的各项技术性能均符合国家标准要求．
