The nucleus retroambiguus (NRA) is a group of premotor neurons at the transition between brainstem and spinal cord. It projects to certain motoneuronal cell groups, among which is a distinct set of motoneurons in the lumbar enlargement innervating muscles including iliopsoas, adductor longus, and hamstrings. To find out whether these NRA-motoneuronal projections are monosynaptic, injections of wheat germ-agglutinin horseradish peroxidase (WGA-HRP) into the NRA were combined with injections of cholera toxin subunit b (CTb) into the hamstring muscles. Electron microscopical examination revealed that the NRA terminal profiles make monosynaptic contacts with dendrites of motoneurons innervating these muscles. The NRA terminal profiles formed asymmetrical synapses, and contained spherical and a few dense core vesicles. These findings provide evidence of monosynaptic NRA-hindlimb motoneuronal projections which are likely to be excitatory.  相似文献

A prospective, randomized study was performed to assess the effectiveness of postoperative closed suction drainage. One hundred and twelve consecutive procedures involving autologous iliac-crest bone graft were performed, from December 29, 1992, to July 1, 1993, following a traumatic injury of the spine in 108 patients. Sixty of the sites from which the bone graft had been obtained were drained with a single large Hemovac device. The drains were maintained for two to five days postoperatively. The remaining fifty-two incisions were closed without a drainage device. All patients were evaluated clinically for problems with wound-healing. The incisions were considered to be healed when they had been asymptomatic for one year. Of eleven patients who had problems with wound-healing, six had been managed with a drain and five had not. The findings of this study do not support the routine use of drainage at the donor sites of iliac-crest bone grafts.  相似文献

Epidemiologic and in vitro data have shown that the association of house-dust mite (HDM) allergy and snail allergy in the same patients was due to cross-reactivity between HDM and snail allergenic components. However, the cross-reacting allergen(s) have not yet been identified. In vitro reactivity of seven patients' sera to the various extracts and hemolymph of four different Helix snail species was analyzed by IgE detection and immunodots and Western blots. Cross-reactivity between snails and Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus was assessed by immunodot and ELISA inhibition in two patients. Heterologous inhibition of the snail immunodot and ELISA was observed in one serum. Western blotting showed a specific binding on all four snail species extracts; molecular weights of snail allergens ranged from < 21 to 200 kDa. Marked individual differences were observed in the seven sera under study; most sera demonstrated IgE recognition of multiple bands, illustrating that no single allergen is responsible for cross-reactivity between snail and mite. These results confirm that cross-reactivity exists between snails of the Helix genus and HDM. This cross-reactivity, involving more than a single allergen, may be of clinical significance in atopic patients allergic to D. pteronyssinus. The identity of the cross-reacting allergens remains to be determined. Potential candidates include the thermostable minor allergens of D. pteronyssinus, tropomyosin and hemocyanin.  相似文献

PURPOSE: A growing body of data suggests that local control in nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is related to the radiation dose administered. We conducted a single-institution study of high-dose radiotherapy (RT), which incorporated high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy (BT). These results were analyzed together with data obtained from controls who did not receive BT. PATIENTS AND METHODS: The BT group comprised 42 consecutive patients of whom 29 patients were staged according to the tumor, node, metastasis system as T1 through 3, 13 patients were T4, and 34 patients were N+ disease. BT was administered on an outpatient basis by means of a specially designed flexible nasopharyngeal applicator, and the dose distributions were optimized. Treatment for T1 through 3 tumors comprised 60 Gy of external-beam radiotherapy (ERT) followed by six fractions of 3 Gy BT (two fractions per day). Patients with parapharyngeal tumor extension and/or T4 tumors received 70 Gy ERT and four fractions of 3 Gy BT. The no-BT group consisted of all patients treated from 1965 to 1991 (n = 109), of whom 82 patients had stages T1 through 3, 27 patients had T4, and 80 patients had N+ disease. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards analyses were performed by using the end points time to local failure (TTLF), time to distant failure (TTDF), disease-free survival (DFS), cause-specific survival (CSS), and the prognostic factors age, tumor stage, node stage, and grade. Because the overall treatment time varied substantially in the no-BT group, the dependence of local failure (LF) on the physical dose as well as the biologic effective dose (BED) corrected for the overall treatment time (OTT) (BEDcor10) was studied. RESULTS: The BT group had a superior 3-year local relapse-free rate (86% v 60%; univariate analysis, P = .004). Multivariate analysis showed hazards ratios for BT versus no-BT of 0.24 for TTLF (P = .003), 0.35 for TTDF (P = .038), 0.31 for DFS (P < .001), and 0.44 for CSS (P = .01). The best prognostic group consisted of patients with T1 through 3, N0 through 2b tumors treated with BT who attained a 5-year TTLF of 94% and CSS of 91%. In contrast, the worst prognostic group, i.e., 5-year TTLF of 47% and CSS of 24%, was composed of patients with T4 and/or N2c through 3 tumors who did not receive BT. CONCLUSION: High doses of radiation (73 to 95 Gy) can be administered to patients with NPC with minimal morbidity by means of optimized HDR-BT. The use of a BT boost proved to be of significant benefit, particularly in patients with T1 through 3, N0 through 2b disease. The steep dose-effect relationship seen for the physical dose and the BEDcor10 indicates that the results are dose related. The analysis has identified a poor prognostic group in whom treatment intensification with chemotherapy (CHT) is indicated.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To examine the pharmacokinetics of anticancer drugs in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) during chemotherapy by the lumbar-ventricular (LV) and ventricular-lumbar (VL) routes. CASE SUMMARY: A 69-year-old Japanese woman with disseminated glioblastoma received two LV and four VL courses of CSF perfusion chemotherapy with methotrexate, nimustine, and cytarabine hydrochloride. Samples of CSF from the ventricles and lumbar spinal canal were obtained via Ommaya reservoirs during one LV and one VL course. Drug concentrations in the CSF were measured by fluorescence polarization immunoassay or HPLC. RESULTS: During LV CSF perfusion, the highest CSF drug concentrations in both the ventricles and the lumbar spinal canal were observed at the end of perfusion. During treatment, the concentrations of all three drugs in the lumbar spinal canal were higher than those in the ventricles. The CSF AUC of methotrexate in the ventricles was 16.1% of that in the lumbar spinal canal. During VL CSF perfusion, the highest drug concentrations were also observed at the end of perfusion. The drug concentrations in the lumbar spinal canal were initially lower than those in the ventricles. However, the concentrations of methotrexate and cytarabine in the lumbar spinal canal exceeded those in the ventricles 3 hours after perfusion. The AUC of methotrexate in the lumbar spinal canal was 174.9% of that in the ventricles. CONCLUSIONS: The pharmacokinetics of anticancer drugs in ventricular CSF differ from those in lumbar CSF during LV and VL perfusion chemotherapy.  相似文献

Plasma carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels in 75 patients with invasive cervical cancer were measured during and after radiation therapy. Initial CEA levels were elevated in 65% of the patients, the incidence varying with stage of disease. Of the 32 patients followed during therapy, CEA levels rose in 26 (81%). CEA values after therapy in the same 32 patients showed three patterns: (1) decline to normal, associated with a disease-free state; (2) decline but not to normal, associated with heavy cigarette smoking or persistent disease; and (3) decline to normal, followed by a rise to abnormal, associated with tumor recurrence. Elevation of CEA levels preceded recognition of recurrent cervical cancer by as much as 4 months in five of seven patients.  相似文献

The number of donors aged 60 years and over has increased. This study examined discard rates and transplant outcomes in organs recovered from older donors. Data were obtained using a standard tool for donors aged 60 years and older during 1993 and 1994 and included demographics, medical history, use of vasopressors, renal/liver function studies, organ disposition, biopsy findings, and recipient organ function. Of 58 kidneys recovered, 24 were transplanted, 26 were used for research, and 8 were discarded. Of 14 livers recovered, 11 were transplanted, 1 was used for research, and 2 were discarded. Sixty-three percent of kidney recipients had immediate function; 79% at 30 days. Nine liver recipients had immediate function; 6 at 30 days, with 1 graft lost. Results show that kidneys and livers can be transplanted from older donors with positive outcomes. Factors such as medical history, use of vasopressors, and organ function studies may help predict organ disposition and function.  相似文献

Where clinically permitted, either external irradiation or radioiodine therapy is usually recommended for the treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer patients. This paper describes an attempt to clarify the radiation burden and the distribution of radiation doses on the lymphocytes in consequence of these two therapeutic modalities, and the circumstances of the applicability of biological dosimetry. Thyrotoxic patients with intact thyroid glands underwent 131I therapy were also analysed for this purpose. An analysis was made of the extent to which exposure to local neck irradiation (50 Gy) or radioiodine therapy (1734-2600 MBq) causes chromosomal aberrations in the lymphocytes of thyroid disease patients after total or subtotal thyroidectomy, or thyrotoxic patients with intact thyroid glands (185-595 MBq). The irradiated volume of lymphatic tissues played the most important role in the formation of chromosomal aberrations. External irradiation caused 10-times more aberrant cells than 131I therapy did in cancer patients. In thyrotoxic patients the lower therapy doses of radioiodine caused a significantly higher frequency of aberrations than that observed in thyroid cancer patients. Selective radiosensitivity of lymphocytes was supported by the analysis of the Poisson distribution of aberrations, which suggested a homogeneous dose distribution only in 131I-treated and thyroidectomized cancer patients. In conclusion, we suggest that the results of studies of the genetic alterations in the lymphocytes exposed to radioiodine, under well-defined circumstances should not be ignored before the mode of radiation treatment is chosen. On the other hand, in the modelling of accidental environmental radioiodine exposure, only thyrotoxic patients with an intact thyroid gland and heterogeneous dose-distribution are a suitable group.  相似文献

Cervical neuroendocrine carcinomas (CNC) are rare tumors. The term includes the cervical carcinoid, the small cell (oat-cell) carcinoma and the primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET). Between 1979 and 1993 eight CNC out of 788 cervical carcinomas were identified by conventional light microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Three tumors were small cell carcinomas with positive staining for NSE (6/8 tumors) and chromogranin A (2/8). In one case a PNET was diagnosed by identifying rosette like structures and negative immunohistochemistry for neuroendocrine markers. Two patients (including PNET) died of disease 3.1 (1.3 to 4.8) years after diagnosis. The others showed no evidence of disease after a mean follow up to 4.4 years. Three of them got pelvic radiation postoperatively. Four tumors showed foci of squamous cell carcinoma [3] and adenocarcinoma [2]. There is no evidence, that these foci influence the prognosis on CNC. Therefore, it is important to recognize the neuroendocrine component, as this type of carcinoma requires special therapeutic considerations. The authors favour the metaplastic origin of CNC from a multipotent (endocervical) stem cell.  相似文献

Twenty-one women with biopsy proven aortic node metastases from previously untreated carcinoma of the uterine cervix were treated with high dose irradiation to the pelvis and para-aortic areas. The majority received 6000 rads to the pelvis and para-aortic nodes by split course therapy plus 2500 rads by intracavitary radium to point A; 57.1% sustained severe complications to the stomach, small intestine or colon. Only 14.2% are surviving over 2 years free of recurrence. Though approximately 40% of women with Stages III and IV cervical cancer will have metastases to the para-aortic nodes, to date there is no satisfactory therapy that results in a significant number of such women surviving free of recurrent cervical cancer.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The prognostic factors and natural history of recurrence in patients with colorectal carcinoma who underwent curative resection and no other therapy were analyzed. METHODS: The object of analysis was the potentially curative resection only subgroup in the randomized clinical trial (RCT) that we performed. Cox's proportional hazards model was used mainly to analyze recurrence rates during the first 5 years after surgery. RESULTS: The analysis was performed on a subgroup of the RCT (279 patients with colon carcinoma and 293 patients with rectal carcinoma). Five-year disease free survival rates were 76.3% and 56.5% for colon and rectal carcinomas, respectively. The prognostic factors for recurrence for colon carcinoma patients were different from those with rectal carcinoma. For colon carcinoma, only Dukes stage was significant, whereas for rectal carcinoma, Dukes stage, age, location of the tumor, and serosal and venous invasion by cancer cells were prognostic factors. Log-transformed disease free survival rates were linear in Dukes Stage B and biphasic in Dukes Stage C for both colon and rectal carcinoma. The two phases in Dukes Stage C intersected at 2.85 and 3.04 years, respectively. The annual hazard value was high for the first 3 years in both colon and rectal carcinoma. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that follow-up of patients with colorectal carcinoma who undergo potentially curative resection is of particular importance in the first 3 years after surgery. Furthermore, the usefulness of adjuvant chemotherapy can be adequately evaluated from data yielded during this postoperative period.  相似文献

Prognostic factors for 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) were defined in 286 patients with advanced seminoma treated with cisplatin-based chemotherapy at 10 European oncology units (no prior treatment: 236; prior radiotherapy: 50). Previously irradiated patients displayed a 69% PFS as compared to 87% in those presenting with advanced seminoma at the time of diagnosis (P = 0.009). In the univariate analysis, the extent and site of disease before chemotherapy and the level of serum LDH (< 2.0 versus > or = 2.0 x upper limit of normal) correlated with PFS in previously non-irradiated patients, but not in patients with prior radiotherapy. The multivariate analysis was, therefore, restricted to previously non-irradiated patients. The presence of non-pulmonary visceral metastases and a serum LDH level of > or = 2 x normal (N) proved to be independent prognostic factors. Based on these variables, two prognostic models were constructed and validated in an external data set of 166 comparable patients. For clinical use, Model 2 is recommended. The good-prognosis group comprises non-irradiated patients with stage II seminoma and any LDH level at presentation, or stage III and IV patients (with lung metastases only) whose serum LDH level is < 2 x N. These patients display a 94% 3-year PFS. The poor prognosis group includes all other patients with a 56% PFS. With this prognostic model, individualisation of the therapeutic approach may be considered in patients with advanced seminoma and a high risk of chemotherapy-related toxicity.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The authors report observed 10-year brachytherapy results in the treatment of 152 consecutive patients with clinically organ-confined prostate carcinoma. METHODS: One hundred and fifty-two consecutive patients with T1-T3, low to high Gleason grade, prostate carcinoma were treated between January 1987 and June 1988 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Their median age was 70 years (range, 53-92 years). Of these 152 patients, 98 (64%) received an iodine-125 implant alone (Group 1), and the remaining 54 patients (36%), who were judged to have a higher risk of extraprostatic extension, also were treated with 45 gray (Gy) of external beam irradiation to the pelvis (Group 2). No patient underwent lymph node sampling, and none received androgen ablation therapy. Multivariate regression and the Mann-Whitney rank sum test were used for statistical analysis. Preoperative patient data with associated success or failure outcomes at 10 years after treatment were used for training and validating a back-propagation neural network prediction program. RESULTS: The average preoperative prostate specific antigen (PSA) value, clinical stage, and Gleason grade were 11.0 ng/mL, T2, and 5, respectively. The median posttreatment follow-up was 119 months (range, 3-134 months). Overall survival 10 years after treatment was 65%. At last follow-up only 3 of the 152 patients (2%) had died of prostate carcinoma. Ninety-seven patients (64%) remained clinically and biochemically free of disease at 10 years of follow-up and had an average PSA value of 0.18 ng/mL (range, 0.01-0.5 ng/mL). In these patients a period of 42 months was required to reach the average PSA (0.5 ng/mL). The median to last PSA follow-up was 95 months (range, 3-134 months). Postoperative needle biopsies were negative in 56% of patients, positive in 15% of patients, and not available in 29% of patients. Only 6% of patients developed bone metastasis. At 10 years there was no statistically significant difference in treatment outcome between patients who received iodine-125 alone, and those who received iodine-125 with 45-Gy external beam irradiation (P = 0.08). Nevertheless, in these two groups preoperative PSA, stage, and Gleason grade were significantly different (P < 0.01). In the artificial neural network analysis, pretreatment serum PSA was the most accurate predictor of disease-free survival. CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous prostate brachytherapy is a valid and efficient option for treating patients with clinically organ-confined, low to high Gleason grade, prostate carcinoma. Observed 10-year follow-up documents serum PSA levels superior to those reported in several published external beam irradiation series, and comparable to those published in a number of published radical prostatectomy series.  相似文献

Stage I carcinoma of the uterine cervix in patients under 40 years of age   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A retrospective analysis was made 94 patients, 39 years of age or younger, who were treated for Stage I carcinoma of the uterine cervix from 1942 through 1972 at the Los Angeles Tumor Institute and the Southern California Cancer Center. Comparisons were made between the frequency of Stage I and other stages of carcinoma of the uterine cervix, as well as the frequency of Stage I carcinoma in young and older individuals. Survival rates for the younger group were compared to those for the same stage of disease for all ages of patients. There is discussion of the treatment modalities used in light of recommendations for future plans of therapy for these young patients. Tumor recurrences are discussed, with special reference to 43 patients who survived over 10 years. Eight of these patients were found to show new or recurrent tumors after this period of time. The importance of careful, long-term follow-up and early secondary treatment for recurrent lesions is emphasized, since subsequent radical surgery may salvage a number of these individuals.  相似文献

PURPOSE: The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons conducts Patient Care Evaluation studies to describe practice patterns and trends in disease management. This report surveys changing strategies in the initial treatment of patients with invasive cancer of the uterine cervix. METHODS AND MATERIALS: Using a standard data collection form designed by a multidisciplinary committee of specialists, cancer registrars at 703 hospitals submitted anonymous data on 11,721 total cervical cancer patients diagnosed in 1984 and 1990. RESULTS: Between the two study years, the use of radiation as all, or a component, of the initial course of therapy declined from 70 to 60.3%, coincident with a 32.3% increase in the use of hysterectomy alone and a 33.7% reduction in the use of radiation alone. The percentage of all patients receiving combined hysterectomy and radiation (preoperative or postoperative) remained virtually unchanged--10.2% in 1984, and 9.3% in 1990. However, women who were treated by hysterectomy in 1990 were less likely to receive radiation as part of their treatment than patients treated by hysterectomy in 1984. Among patients treated by radiation without hysterectomy, the use of intracavitary brachytherapy techniques substantially exceeded interstitial brachytherapy techniques in both study years. Among patients treated by local radiation without hysterectomy, the frequency of adjunctive chemotherapy use increased from 6.9% in 1984 to 24.8% in 1990, with chemotherapy and radiation increasingly administered concurrently rather than sequentially. Although differences based on age, histology, race/ethnicity, and insurance status were observed, these general management trends were seen in all groups. CONCLUSIONS: Changes in the utilization of radiation and surgery may reflect the increasing surgical involvement of gynecologic oncologists in the management of early stage cervical cancer, rather than significant alterations in the demographics of the disease. Although brachytherapy is recognized as an important component of radiation treatment, some patients may not receive the potential benefit of this modality. Despite controversy concerning its efficacy, the use of adjuvant systemic chemotherapy to supplement local treatment modalities appears to be increasing rapidly.  相似文献

AIM: To investigate the adverse effect of treatment prolongation on the local control and survival of the cervical carcinoma of the uterus. PATIENTS AND METHOD: Two hundred and sixteen patients with stage IIB and III cervical carcinoma treated with a combination of external radiation and high-dose rate (HDR) intracavitary irradiation between 1978 and 1989 were retrospectively studied. A multivariate analysis was used to determine the effect of treatment time on local control and survival. RESULTS: Overall treatment time was the most highly significant factors for local control in the multivariate analysis (p = 0.0005). The 5-year cumulative relapse rates were significantly different with the treatment times 35 to 42 days: 9% versus 43 to 49 days: 19% versus 50 to 62 days: 42% (p = 0.001). The second most significant parameter was stage classification (p = 0.02). Concerning relapse-free survival, stage classification (p = 0.0001), overall treatment time (p = 0.0035) and hemoglobin level (p = 0.0174) were the 3 most important prognostic factors, although there was no relationship between treatment time and late complications. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that prolongation of treatment time is associated with decreased local control and survival in patients treated with external radiation and HDR intracavitary irradiation.  相似文献

The subacromial bursa is recognized as a site associated with the shoulder pain caused by rotator cuff disease in the middle-aged and elderly. Substance P is contained in primary afferent nerves, and its quantity increases during chronic pain. The amount of substance P in the subacromial bursa of patients with rotator cuff disease was examined. Radioimmunoassay and immunohistochemistry were employed to quantify and localize substance P. The preoperative pain level was measured with a visual analogue scale with 0 as no pain, 5 as moderate, and 10 as severe. Thirty-seven patients that had undergone operation were divided into two groups: one composed of 19 patients with subacromial bursitis and a partial-thickness tear of the rotator cuff (nonperforated cuff) and the other composed of 18 patients with a full-thickness tear (perforated cuff). Subacromial bursae obtained from seven fresh cadavers with no shoulder pain before death were used as controls. The visual analogue scale showed significantly greater pain in the group with the nonperforated rotator cuff than in the group with the perforated cuff. Consistent with these results, the amount of substance P in the subacromial bursa was significantly greater in the former group than in the latter. Nerve fibers immunoreactive to substance P were localized around the vessels, with a larger number of fibers in the group with the nonperforated rotator cuff. Therefore, an increased amount of substance P in the subacromial bursa appears to correlate with the pain caused by rotator cuff disease.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the potential usefulness of the combination of gadolinium and dysprosium to enhance the different between normal and necrotic liver tissue. Small regions of acute necrosis were induced by injecting 200-300 microliters of 95% alcohol into the liver of 26 rats. MRI was performed 24 hours after necrosis induction, before and immediately after injection of one or both contrast agents. Using a mixed T1/T2-weighted sequence, the signal intensity of (SI) of the normal liver was reduced by 70%, whereas the necrotic regions had more than a 50% increase in SI after double contrast. The region that was enhanced corresponded largely with the region of necrosis as observed postmortem. The lesion size, when identified, was largely underestimated using either of the agents along, albeit using the common pulse sequences. The double contrast effect of simultaneous administration of gadolinium and dysprosium allows accurate delineation of liver necrosis.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate angiogenesis in squamous cell carcinoma in situ (CIS) and microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix and to investigate the relations among angiogenesis, stromal inflammation, and depth of invasion. METHODS: Three groups of women were studied: 22 controls who had undergone hysterectomy for benign conditions; 18 with squamous cell CIS of the cervix who underwent cone biopsy, hysterectomy, or both; and 14 with microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma who underwent conization of the cervix and subsequent surgical management according to depth of invasion. All specimens were stained immunohistochemically for factor VIII-related antigen. Areas below the basement membrane with the highest angiogenic density were selected. The degree of stromal inflammatory reaction was assessed. Statistical analyses included Kruskal-Wallis, analyses of variance and covariance, Scheffe and Bonferroni-Dunn post hoc procedures, and Pearson correlation analysis. P < .05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Microvessel counts per high-power field (x 400) of microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix differed significantly from those of controls and squamous cell CIS (median 34.5 per high-power field, range 9-76 versus median 17, range 7-47, and median 19, range 8-39, respectively; P < .005). Microvessel counts per high-power field in squamous cell CIS did not differ significantly from those of controls (P = .91). Among patients with microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, no significant correlation was found between microvessel counts per high-power field and the depth of invasion (r = 0.19, P = .51). Stromal inflammatory reaction (graded 0-3) differed significantly among controls, squamous cell CIS, and microinvasive carcinoma (mean 0.40, 0.83, and 1.64, respectively; P < .005). CONCLUSIONS: Microinvasive squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix is angiogenic, but depth of invasion is not associated with increased angiogenicity. Squamous cell CIS is not angiogenic.  相似文献

(1998) add to prior knowledge of stress-illness relationships by showing that self-reports of stress occurrence and duration of 1 month or more, rather than estimates of stressor severity, predict susceptibility to experimentally induced colds (i.e., viral replication and cold symptoms). Although ruling out obvious behavioral and personality factors as causes of the association of stressors to colds, they were unable to identify mediational immune factors, a deficit attributable to the difficulty of assessing the multi-layered, dynamic physiological processes within the bidirectional connections of the nervous (stress) and immune systems. The findings provide an interesting complement to data, showing that people use stressor duration in evaluating the illness implications of somatic symptoms (Cameron et al., 1995), and suggest caution with regard to overestimating the prevalence of stress-induced colds in natural settings.  相似文献
