Water-borne paint coatings while used outdoors, show good protective behaviour on metals, even though they can take up and release much moisture. As experience shows for physically drying paint coatings, the changing wet-and-dry environment improve their corrosion protection properties. To find out the reasons, eight model coatings – built up from various combinations of layers made of the physically drying styrene-acrylate, and the oxidatively drying alkyd-acrylate based paints – were tested on metal substrate by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; water uptake/release kinetics was followed by gravimetry on self-standing films made of the above resins. The results of experiments simulating the weathering effects (wet–dry cycling and heating) with the physically drying paint coatings lead us to the conclusions that: (i) water uptake and release removes the water-soluble components from the film and thereby contributes to the good or improving corrosion protection feature, and explains the observation that these coatings perform satisfactorily outdoors and (ii) water release is always much faster than the uptake which helps to keep the interior of the coating dry protecting the metal surface against moisture.  相似文献

The flow of a viscous liquid film on a plane surface, under the influence of gravity and surface tension, is analysed mathematically, taking into account the initial surface profile of the liquid and any inclination of the underlying surface. The approach adopted is suitable for liquids such as paint where the Reynolds number is extremely low and the viscosity may be shear or time dependent. The surface profile is represented by a complex Fuorier Series and the hydrodynamic analysis centres on the biharmonic equation for the stream function. Two velocity components are derived for each point on an arbitrary initial grid and the displacements are obtained on multiplying by a short time interval from which the next grid is obtained. In this way the progress of the surface profile can be followed. Such a numerical method is eminently suitable for computer graphic simulation.  相似文献

Thyme and cumin essential oils were used in the present study in an attempt to prevent butter deterioration during storage at room temperature. Butter oxidation and lipolysis were followed by measuring the acid, peroxide and TBA values. Lipolytic activity and total microbial and lipolytic bacterial counts were also measured. During butter storage, very little change in the peroxide and TBA values were found while a gradual increase in the acid value was noticed. The addition of cumin and thyme oils at 200 ppm to butter caused very little increase in the acid value. The data for lipolytic bacterial counts were in general agreement with the acid values. Thyme and cumin essential oils showed a greater anti-hydrolytic effect and act as superior preservatives compared to BHT.  相似文献

利用正交试验设计一种水性带锈防锈涂料配方,选择乳液、三聚磷酸铝、氧化铁红和缓冲液四个因素,通过极差分析讨论了附着力、硬度和遮盖力对涂层性能的影响,筛选出最优涂料配方.实验结果表明,该配方涂层附着力达到3级、硬度6H、遮盖力好、耐水性耐腐蚀性好,可带锈施工,具有一定的应用价值.  相似文献
