The Council of Representatives met for the regular Annual Meeting to transact the business of the American Psychological Association on September 4 and 7, 1965, at the Palmer House in Chicago, Illinois. President Bruner called the first session to order at 9:10 A.M. on September 4. As has been customary, these minutes constitute the full official record of actions taken by the Association during the year. Reported to the Council, and recorded here, are many actions of the Board of Directors acting in accordance with the powers given them by the Bylaws and by actions of the Council. These minutes are organized under topical headings rather than in the order in which the items were acted upon. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved)  相似文献

On October 30 and 31, 1954, the American Psychological Association Committee on Relations with Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association Committee on Relations with Psychology held a joint meeting which involved discussion of a variety of issues, and agreed that "… the ultimate test for resolving our differences should be what is best for human welfare." The committee recommended that the two associations "… over the next few years… seek to establish a moratorium on all legislative actions which would modify the relations between the two professions… ." "Letters from state associations and from individuals… were divided about 50-50 for and against the 'truce.'… The divergency of well-considered views among our members could not be the basis of united decision." Presents highlights of the Third Annual Joint Meeting of the Connecticut Psychological Association and the Connecticut District Branch of the American Psychiatric Association. The meeting was held November 18, 1966, at the Connecticut Mental Health Center in New Haven. The overall success of the gathering (to which wives, husbands, and friends were invited) further expresses the cordial relationship that has been established with the psychiatric community, and makes it clear that a "meeting and collation" format allows the two groups to meet for scientific and social collaboration. These minutes constitute the official record of actions of the Association taken during the year, by both the Board of Directors and the Council of Representatives. The roll of representatives was called at each meeting, and more than a quorum answered to their names. Reference is made in these minutes to various reports, some of which will be published elsewhere. Copies of these reports were distributed to the Council and are on file in the Central Office. As long as the supply lasts, extra copies of many of the reports are available from the Central Office. The Board of Directors held seven official meetings during this Association year. All substantive actions of the Board were reported to the Council and are included in these minutes. Further details of the Board's actions are to be found in the minutes of each meeting. As in previous years, these minutes are arranged in topical rather than chronological order, and subheadings are used when appropriate. The main topical headings are I, Minutes of Meetings in 1986-1987; II, Elections, Awards, Membership, and Human Resources: III, Ethics; IV, Board of Directors; V, Divisions and State Associations; VI, Organization of the APA; VII, Publications and Communications; VIII, Convention Affairs; IX, Educational Affairs; X, Professional Affairs; XI, Scientific Affairs; XII, Social and Ethical Responsibility for Psychology; XIII, Ethnic Minority Affairs; XIV, International Affairs; XV, Central Office; XVI, Financial Affairs; and XVII, Communications Concerning Outside Organizations.
