Identification of a sustainable integrated soil fertility management option in the tropics will not only salvage the degraded soils but also enhances the attainment of the goal of food security. This study was conducted in 2004 and 2005 on a degraded tropical Alfisol in south western Nigeria to evaluate the effect of legume residue, poultry manure and inorganic fertilizers on maize yield, nutrient uptake and soil properties. The treatments consisted of two rates of poultry manure (0 and 5 t ha−1), three rates of N fertilizer (0, 50 and 100 kg N ha−1 applied as urea), three rates of P fertilizer (0, 30 and 60 kg P ha−1 applied as single super phosphate) and two soybean treatments (with or without incorporation of legume residue) in various combinations as a factorial experiment in Randomized Complete Block design with three replicates. Results showed that poultry manure alone led to significant increase in maize yield (60%) and soil organic matter (45%). In contrast, legume residue incorporation gave significantly lower increase in yield (7%) and soil organic matter (11%). However, the combined application of poultry manure and legume incorporation led to 72% increase in maize yield as opposed to 63 and 10% increase recorded when manure alone or legume alone were incorporated, respectively. Optimal maize yield was achieved when manure application was integrated with P fertilizer application. The interaction of P fertilizer and legume incorporation indicated that soil phosphorus and maize P concentration were significantly increased with the application of the P fertilizer and legume incorporation. Hence, the application of P fertilizer alone is most likely to be economical compared with its integration with legume incorporation.  相似文献

Smallholder land productivity in drylands can be increased by optimizing locally available resources, through nutrient enhancement and water conservation. In this study, we investigated the effect of tillage system, organic resource and chemical nitrogen fertilizer application on maize productivity in a sandy soil in eastern Kenya over four seasons. The objectives were to (1) determine effects of different tillage-organic resource combinations on soil structure and crop yield, (2) determine optimum organic–inorganic nutrient combinations for arid and semi-arid environments in Kenya and, (3) assess partial nutrient budgets of different soil, water and nutrient management practices using nutrient inflows and outflows. This experiment, initiated in the short rainy season of 2005, was a split plot design with 7 treatments involving combinations of tillage (tied-ridges, conventional tillage and no-till) and organic resource (1 t ha−1 manure + 1 t ha−1 crop residue and; 2 t ha−1 of manure (no crop residue) in the main plots. Chemical nitrogen fertilizer at 0 and 60 kg N ha−1 was used in sub-plots. Although average yield in no-till was by 30–65% lower than in conventional and tied-ridges during the initial two seasons, it achieved 7–40% higher yields than these tillage systems by season four. Combined application of 1 t ha−1 of crop residue and 1 t ha−1 of manure increased maize yield over sole application of manure at 2 t ha−1 by between 17 and 51% depending on the tillage system, for treatments without inorganic N fertilizer. Cumulative nutrients in harvested maize in the four seasons ranged from 77 to 196 kg N ha−1, 12 to 27 kg P ha−1 and 102 to 191 kg K ha−1, representing 23 and 62% of applied N in treatments with and without mineral fertilizer N respectively, 10% of applied P and 35% of applied K. Chemical nitrogen fertilizer application increased maize yields by 17–94%; the increases were significant in the first 3 seasons (P < 0.05). Tillage had significant effect on soil macro- (>2 mm) and micro-aggregates fractions (<250 μm >53 μm: P < 0.05), with aggregation indices following the order no-till > tied-ridges > conventional tillage. Also, combining crop residue and manure increased large macro-aggregates by 1.4–4.0 g 100 g−1 soil above manure only treatments. We conclude that even with modest organic resource application, and depending on the number of seasons of use, conservation tillage systems such as tied-ridges and no-till can be effective in improving crop yield, nutrient uptake and soil structure and that farmers are better off applying 1 t ha−1 each of crop residue and manure rather than sole manure.  相似文献

An in-depth understanding of nutrient management variability on the regional scale is urgently required due to rapid changes in cropping patterns and farmers’ resource use in peri-urban areas of China. The soil surface nitrogen (N) balances of cereal, orchard and vegetable systems were studied over a 2-year period on smallholder fields in a representative peri-urban area of Beijing. Positive soil surface N balances were obtained across all three cropping systems. The mean annual N surplus of the vegetable system was 1,575 kg N ha−1 year−1, or approximately 3 times the corresponding values in the cereal (531 kg N ha−1 year−1) and orchard systems (519 kg N ha−1 year−1). In the vegetable system, animal manure (1,443 kg N ha−1 year−1 on average) was the major source of N input (65 % of the total N input) and the factor with strongest impact on the N surplus. In the cereal system, however, about 74 % of the total N input originated from mineral fertilizer application which was the major contributor to the N surplus, while in the orchard system, the N surplus was strongly and positively correlated with both mineral fertilizer and animal manure applications. Furthermore, within each cropping system, N fertilization, crop yields and N balances showed large variations among different smallholder fields, especially in orchard and vegetable systems. This study highlights that differences in farming practices within or among cropping systems should be taken into account when calculating nutrient balances and designing strategies of integrated nutrient management on a regional scale.  相似文献

Based on a consecutive 16-year field trial and meteorological data, the effects of fertilization on the nutrient budget and nitrogen use efficiency in farmland soil under different precipitation years were studied. With no fertilization treatment, the grain yield of maize was 3,520 kg ha−1 (mean yield over 13 years). But the maximum yield increased to 7,470 kg ha−1 when treated with mineral N, P and K fertilizers and recycled manure. The nutrient uptake also increased by twofold to threefold in NPKM treated field compared with that in the control treatment. The highest yields were obtained in years with normal precipitation, despite the different fertilization schemes. The lowest yields were obtained in drought or waterlogging years, which were 44.7–58.5% of the yields in years with normal precipitation. It also appeared that the deficits of N, P and K were greater in the years with proper precipitation than those in arid or flood years, because more production was removed from the field. Soil total N decreased significantly when treated with mineral fertilizer or recycled manure alone. The maximum deficit of soil total N was observed in control treatment (557 kg ha−1) from 1990 to 2005. The N treatment resulted in a significant negative balance of P, due to the high yield of the crop in response to applied N. The application of NP or N to soils resulted in a greater negative K balance than that of the control. The greatest negative balance of total P and available P were obtained under the control and N treatment, and the highest deficit of soil total K and exchangeable K were obtained under NP treatment. We found that the rate of 150 kg N ha−1 year−1 was inadequate for maintaining soil N balance, and amendment of soil with organic source could not stop the loss of soil P and K. The applying rates of 150 kg N ha−1 year−1, 25 kg P ha−1 year−1, and 60 kg K ha−1 year−1 combined with 2–3 t ha−1 organic manure were recommended to maintain soil fertility level. The nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) was greatly improved in the years with proper precipitation and balanced fertilization. Higher NUE and grain yields were achieved under NPK and NPKM treatments in years with normal precipitation. The results clearly demonstrated that both organic and mineral fertilizers were needed to increase crop production, improve NUE and maintain soil fertility level.  相似文献

Recent trends in phosphate balance nationally and by region in Japan   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2
A reduction in chemical phosphate (P) fertilizer application to farmland from 137.6 kg P ha−1 in 1985 to 99.0 kg P ha−1 in 2005 and in manure application from 42.4 kg P ha−1 in 1985 to 32.8 kg P ha−1 in 2005 did not reduce crop P uptake, which averaged 27 kg P ha−1 over the period. Phosphate balance on farmland declined from 153.0 kg P ha−1 in 1985 to 105.4 kg P ha−1 in 2005 while livestock excreta disposal increased from 12.7 kg P ha−1 in 1985 to 23.7 kg P ha−1 in 2005. As a result, residual P associated with agriculture declined from 165.8 kg P ha−1 in 1985 to 129.1 kg P ha−1 in 2005. Phosphate utilization efficiency increased from 15.7% in 1985 to 20.1% in 2005. Median, minimum and maximum values of P flows by region showed similar trends. Phosphate input and withdrawal through crop production by region were not related to regional nitrogen (N) input and withdrawal through crop production. Although non-utilized P associated with agriculture has declined nationally and regionally, it is still higher than that in foreign countries, because of high chemical P fertilizer inputs and low crop yield withdrawal. Because soil P fertility was often sufficiently high previous large P surpluses, reducing P applications did not affect crop yields. Crop P uptake was less than half that of crop N yield. These results indicate that P inputs, especially by chemical fertilizer, for crop production could be reduced, thereby reducing negative environmental effects such as eutrophication of soil and water and conserving limited P resources.  相似文献

Long-term use of soil, crop residue and fertilizer management practices may affect some soil properties, but the magnitude of change depends on soil type and climatic conditions. Two field experiments with barley, wheat, or canola in a rotation on Gray Luvisol (Typic Cryoboralf) loam at Breton and Black Chernozem (Albic Argicryoll) loam at Ellerslie, Alberta, Canada, were conducted to determine the effects of 19 or 27 years (from 1980 to 1998 or 2006 growing seasons) of tillage (zero tillage [ZT] and conventional tillage [CT]), straw management (straw removed [SRem] and straw retained [SRet]) and N fertilizer rate (0, 50 and 100 kg N ha−1 in SRet, and 0 kg N ha−1 in SRem plots) on pH, extractable P, ammonium-N and nitrate–N in the 0–7.5, 7.5–15, 15–30 and 30–40 cm or 0–15, 15–30, 30–60, 60–90 and 90–120 cm soil layers. The effects of tillage, crop residue management and N fertilization on these chemical properties were usually similar for both contrasting soil types. There was no effect of tillage and residue management on soil pH, but application of N fertilizer reduced pH significantly (by up to 0.5 units) in the top 15 cm soil layers. Extractable P in the 0–15 cm soil layer was higher or tended to be higher under ZT than CT, or with SRet than SRem in many cases, but it decreased significantly with N application (by 18.5 kg P ha−1 in Gray Luvisol soil and 20.5 kg P ha−1 in Black Chernozem soil in 2007). Residual nitrate–N (though quite low in the Gray Luvisol soil in 1998) increased with application of N (by 17.8 kg N ha−1 in the 0–120 cm layer in Gray Luvisol soil and 23.8 kg N ha−1 in 0–90 cm layer in Black Chernozem soil in 2007) and also indicated some downward movement in the soil profile up to 90 cm depth. There was generally no effect of any treatment on ammonium-N in soil. In conclusion, elimination of tillage and retention of straw increased but N fertilization decreased extractable P in the surface soil. Application of N fertilizer reduced pH in the surface soil, and showed accumulation and downward leaching of nitrate–N in the soil profile.  相似文献

The synergistic effect of soil and water conservation (SWC) measures (stone rows or grass strips) and nutrient inputs (organic or mineral nutrient sources) was studied at Saria station, Burkina Faso. The reduction in runoff was 59% in plots with barriers alone, but reached 67% in plots with barriers + mineral N and 84% in plots with barriers + organic N, as compared with the control plots. Plots with no SWC measure lost huge amounts of soil (3 t ha−1) and nutrients. Annual losses from eroded sediments and runoff reached 84 kg OC ha−1, 16.5 kg N ha−1, 2 kg P ha−1, and 1.5 kg K ha−1 in the control plots. The application of compost led to the reduction of total soil loss by 52% in plots without barriers and 79% in plots with stone rows as compared to the losses in control plots. SWC measures without N input did not significantly increase sorghum yield. Application of compost or manure in combination with SWC measures increased sorghum grain yield by about 142% compared to a 65% increase due to mineral fertilizers. Yields increase did not cover annual costs of single SWC measures while application of single compost or urea was cost effective. The combination of SWC measures with application of compost resulted in financial gains of 145,000 to 180,000 FCFA ha−1 year−1 under adequate rainfall condition. Without nutrient inputs, SWC measures hardly affected sorghum yields, and without SWC, fertilizer inputs also had little effect. However, combining SWC and nutrient management caused an increase in sorghum yield.  相似文献

Poultry manure applied alone or in combination with urea at different N levels was evaluated as a N source for wetland rice grown in a Fatehpur loamy sand soil. Residual effects were studied on wheat which followed rice every year during the three cropping cycles. In the first year, poultry manure did not perform better than urea but by the third year, when applied in quantities sufficient to supply 120 and 180 kg N ha–1, it produced significantly more rice grain yield than the same rates of N as urea. Poultry manure sustained the grain yield of rice during the three years while the yield decreased with urea. Apparent N recovery by rice decreased from 45 to 28% during 1987 to 1989 in the case of urea, but it remained almost the same (35, 33 and 37%) for poultry manure. Thus, urea N values of poultry manure calculated from yield or N uptake data following two different approaches averaged 80, 112 and 127% in 1987, 1988 and 1989, respectively. Poultry manure and urea applied in 1:1 ratio on N basis produced yields in between the yields from the two sources applied alone. After three cycles of rice-wheat rotation, the organic matter in the soil increased with the amount of manure applied to a plot. Olsen available P increased in soils amended with poultry manure. A residual effect of poultry manure applied to rice to supply 120 or 180 kg N ha–1 was observed in the wheat which followed rice and it was equivalent to 40 kg N ha–1 plus some P applied directly to wheat.  相似文献

A transition period of at least 2 years is required for annual crops before the produce may be certified as organically grown. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of three organic amendments on the yield and quality of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and on soil properties during transition to organic production. The organic amendments were composted farmyard manure (FYMC), vermicompost and lantana (Lantana spp. L.) compost applied to soil at four application rates (60 kg N ha−1, 90 kg N ha−1, 120 kg N ha−1 and 150 kg N ha−1). The grain yield of wheat in all the treatments involving organic amendments was markedly lower (36–65% and 23–54% less in the first and second year of transition, respectively) than with the mineral fertilizer treatment. For the organic treatments applied at equivalent N rates, grain yield was higher for FYMC treatment, closely followed by vermicompost. In the first year of transition, protein content of wheat grain was higher (85.9 g kg−1) for mineral fertilizer treatment, whereas, in the second year, there were no significant differences among the mineral fertilizer treatment and the highest application rate (150 kg N ha−1) of three organic amendments. The grain P and K contents were, however, significantly higher for the treatments involving organic amendments than their mineral fertilizer counterpart in both years. Application of organic amendments, irrespective of source and rate, greatly lowered bulk density (1.14–1.25 Mg m−3) and enhanced pH (6.0–6.5) and oxidizable organic carbon (13–18.8 g kg−1) of soil compared with mineral fertilizer treatment after a 2-year transition period. Mineral fertilized plots, however, had higher levels of available N and P than plots with organic amendments. All the treatments involving organic amendments, particularly at higher application rates, enhanced soil microbial activities of dehydrogenase, β-glucosidase, urease and phosphatase compared with the mineral fertilizer and unamended check treatments. We conclude that the application rate of 120 kg N ha−1 and 150 kg N ha−1 of all the three sources of organic amendments improved soil properties. There was, however, a 23–65% reduction in wheat yield during the 2 years of transition to organic production.  相似文献

The effects of conservation tillage, crop residue and cropping systems on the changes in soil organic matter (SOM) and overall maize–legume production were investigated in western Kenya. The experiment was a split-split plot design with three replicates with crop residue management as main plots, cropping systems as sub-plots and nutrient levels as sub-sub plots. Nitrogen was applied in each treatment at two rates (0 and 60 kg N ha−1). Phosphorus was applied at 60 kg P/ha in all plots except two intercropped plots. Inorganic fertilizer (N and P) showed significant effects on yields with plots receiving 60 kg P ha−1 + 60 kg N ha−1 giving higher yields of 5.23 t ha−1 compared to control plots whose yields were as low as 1.8 t ha−1 during the third season. Crop residues had an additive effect on crop production, soil organic carbon and soil total nitrogen. Crop rotation gave higher yields hence an attractive option to farmers. Long-term studies are needed to show the effects of crop residue, cropping systems and nutrient input on sustainability of SOM and crop productivity.  相似文献

Nitrogen fertilizer application rates in intensive vegetable production in (South) East Asia have increased exponentially over the past decades, including in the low income countries. While there have been reports of excessive N inputs from e.g. Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, very little quantitative knowledge exists on the real extent of the problem. We calculated N balances and agronomic N use efficiencies (ANUE) for a number of typical intensive vegetable rotations in the highlands of Central Java, Indonesia, on fertile Andisols, both for individual cropping cycles (short term) as for 6 consecutive cropping cycles (long term). This was done for farmers practice (FP) treatments, and improved practice (IP) treatments, where N fertilization was significantly reduced. Yields were in general similar in FP and IP, but tended to be slightly higher in IP, with some significant differences. Both the short and long term N balances were always positive and usually very high. Short term N balances ranged from 9 to 559 kg N ha−1 and 219 to 885 kg N ha−1 in IP and FP, respectively, while short term ANUE ranged from 8 to 67 and 4 to 39% in IP and FP, respectively. Long term N balances ranged from 627 to 1,885 kg N ha−1 and 962 to 3,808 kg N ha−1 in IP and FP, respectively, indicating a massive excess of N supply especially in FP. N balances can thus be drastically reduced with no negative impacts on yield, on the contrary. Soil mineral N in the 0–25 cm layer was in general not very high (6.5–38.8 mg N kg−1 soil) and not systematically different between IP and FP, probably as a result of excessive NO3 leaching. Therefore, topsoil mineral N seems to have only limited indicator value under these conditions. Because denitrification losses in these soils are not very high, most N in excess of the crop requirements will be lost by leaching. Quantitative data on N balances as obtained here may be used to sensitize policy makers and farmers about the threat of current farming practices to the environment, and to improve economic performance.  相似文献

Nutrient inputs into crop production systems through fertilisation have come under increased scrutiny in recent years because of reduced nutrient use efficiency and increased environmental impact. Fifteen years of experimental data on dynamics of N, P and K in soil, crop yield and nutrient uptake from nine fertilisation treatments at Zhengzhou, North China Plain, were used to analyse the contribution of different fertilisation treatments to crop yield, nutrient use efficiency and accumulation of nutrients in soil. The results showed that both N and P were limiting factors for crop growth. Without additional N and P fertilisation, only a very low yield level (ca 2 t ha−1 for wheat and 3 t ha−1 for maize) could be maintained. To achieve the potential productivity (i.e. yield level free of water and nutrient stresses) of wheat (6.9 t ha−1) and maize (8.3 t ha−1), wheat would need, on average, 170 kg N ha−1, 32 kg P ha−1 and 130 kg K ha−1, while maize would need 189 kg N ha−1, 34 kg P ha−1 and 212 kg K ha−1. The N and P demands correspond well to the N and P levels supplied in one of the fertilisation treatments (NPK), while K deficiency could occur in the future if no crop residues were returned or no extra K was applied. On average under this NPK treatment, 80% of N and 71% of P could be recovered by the wheat–maize system. Treatments with nutrient inputs higher than the NPK treatment and treatments without combination of N and P have led to accumulation of N and P in the soil profile. The input levels of N and P in the NPK treatment are recommended in fertiliser management, with additional K to avoid future soil K deficiency.  相似文献

Upland rice is commonly grown during rainy season in Himalayan hills. Low or no application of fertilizer nutrients and heavy weed infestation are the major constraints leading to low productivity of rice in this region. Thus, the present investigation was conducted to see the effect of in-situ green manure in supplementing nutrients and saving of labour due to reduction in manual weeding from 2 to 1. Different combinations of chemical fertilizer with green manure or FYM were evaluated. In-situ green manuring with sunhemp improved the overall productivity of upland rice. Highest yield attributes, yield and sustainability index was recorded with 100% NPK + green manure, which were at par with 75% NPK + green manure. However, these values were lowest under 100% NPK application. Higher productivity and saving of labour under green manuring resulted in higher net return and benefit: cost ratio. Soil available nutrients (NPK) and net balance of NPK were also higher under 100% NPK + green manure. The study clearly suggests that in-situ green manure is a viable low-cost technology for enhancing productivity and profitability of upland rice in the fragile ecosystem of Himalayan hills.  相似文献

Similar to other regions of Asia, irrigated wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) yield increases in Punjab, India, have slowed in recent years. Future yield increases may occur in smaller increments through fine-tuning of crop management mainly by accounting for the large spatial and temporal variation in soil characteristics. On-farm experiments were conducted from 2002–03 to 2004–05 on 56 irrigated wheat farms (hereafter referred to as ‘sites’) in six key irrigated rice (Oryza sativa L.)-wheat regions of Punjab to evaluate an approach for site-specific nutrient management (SSNM). Site-specific N–P–K applications were calculated by accounting for the indigenous nutrient supply, yield targets, and nutrient demand as a function of the interactions between N, P, and K. The performance of SSNM was tested for two wheat crops. Compared with the current farmers’ fertilizer practice (FFP), average grain yield increased from 4.2 to 4.8 Mg ha−1, while plant N, P, and K accumulations increased by 12–20% with SSNM. The gross return above fertilizer cost (GRF) was about 13% greater with SSNM than with FFP. Improved timing and/or splitting of fertilizer N increased N recovery efficiency from 0.17 kg kg−1 in FFP plots to 0.27 kg kg−1 in SSNM plots. The agronomic N use efficiency was 63% greater with SSNM than with FFP. As defined in our study, SSNM has potential for improving yields and nutrient use efficiency in irrigated wheat. Future research must build on the present approach to develop a more practical way for achieving similar benefits across large areas without site-specific modeling and with minimum crop monitoring.  相似文献

Field studies were conducted for two years on a rapidly percolating loamy sand (Typic Ustochrept) to evaluate the effect of green manure (GM) on the yield,15N recovery from urea applied to flooded rice, the potential for ammonia loss and uptake of residual fertilizer N by succeeding crops. The GM crop ofSesbania aculeata was grownin situ and incorporated one day before transplanting rice. Urea was broadcast in 0.05 m deep floodwater, and incorporated with a harrow. Green manure significantly increased the yield and N uptake by rice and substituted for a minimum of 60 kg fertilizer N ha–1. The recovery of fertilizer N as indicated by15N recovery was higher in the GM + urea treatments. The grain yield and N uptake by succeeding wheat in the rotation was slightly higher with GM. The recovery of residual fertilizer N as indicated by the15N recovery in the second, third and fourth crops of wheat, rice and wheat was only 3, 1 and 1 per cent of the urea fertilizer applied to the preceding rice crop. Floodwater chemistry parameters showed that the combined use of the GM and 40 kg N ha–1 as urea applied at transplanting resulted in a comparatively higher potential for NH3 loss immediately after fertilizer application. The actual ammonia loss as suggested by the15N recoveries in the rice crop, however, did not appear to be appreciably larger in the GM treatment. It appeared the ammonia loss was restricted by low ammoniacal-N concentration maintained in the floodwater after 2 to 3 days of fertilizer application.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted in Central Thailand under a rice–fallow–rice cropping sequence during consecutive dry and wet seasons of 1998 to determine the impact of residue management on fertilizer nitrogen (N) use. Treatments consisted of a combination of broadcast urea (70 kg N ha–1) with rice straw (C/N 67) and rice hull ash (C/N 76), which were incorporated into the puddled soil 1 week before transplanting at a rate of 5 Mg ha–1. Nitrogen-15 balance data showed that the dry season rice recovered 10 to 20% of fertilizer N at maturity. Of the applied N, 27 to 36% remained in the soil. Loss of N (unaccounted for) from the soil–plant system ranged from 47 to 54% of applied N. The availability of the residue fertilizer N to a subsequent rice crop was only less than 3% of the initial applied N. During both season fallows NO3-N remained the dominant form of mineral-N (NO3+NH4) in the aerobic soil. In the dry season grain yield response to N application was significant (P=0.05). Organic material sources did not significantly change grain yield and N accumulation in rice. In terms of grain yields and N uptake at maturity, there was no significant residual effect of fertilizer N on the subsequent rice crop. The combined use of organic residues with urea did not improve N use efficiency, reduced N losses nor produced higher yields compared to urea alone. These results suggested that mechanisms such as N loss through gaseous N emissions may account for the low fertilizer N use efficiency from this rice cropping system. Splitting fertilizer N application should be considered on the fertilizer N use from the organic residue amendment.  相似文献

Dissolved unreactive phosphorus (DUP) loss can increase the risk of water organic and inorganic compound pollution. Because DUP loss under different fertilizers has not been evaluated, selecting a fertilizer that decreases losses but maintains yields remains challenging. Therefore, we compared DUP losses via overland flow, leaching, and sediment in lysimeter plots (8 m?×?4 m?×?0.6 m) with mineral and organic fertilizers for two years. The six treatments, with three replicates, included no fertilizer (CK), mineral fertilizer (NPK), pig manure only (OM), pig manure combined with NPK (OMNPK), crop straw only (RSD), and crop straw combined with NPK (RSDNPK). The results showed that leaching accounted for 54–89% and was the major route for DUP loss. Compared with NPK (0.074 kg ha?1 year?1), in the OM and OMNPK, the annual DUP losses via leaching were substantially increased by 11.1% and 8.6%, respectively, whereas they were decreased by 13.2% and 6.2% in the RSD and RSDNPK treatments, respectively. There was a significant positive linear relationship between the soil P surplus and the annual total DUP loss loading (r?=?0.80, p?=?0.05). Compared with the NPK (43.44 kg ha?1 year?1), the values of the soil P surplus under the RSD and RSDNPK treatments were greatly reduced by 122.6% and 14.5%, thereby decreasing the annual total DUP loss by 34.5% and 26.4%, respectively. In conclusion, pig manure application can increase DUP leaching risk, whereas the combination of mineral fertilizers and crop straw residues can decrease the DUP loss without compromising the crop yield.

After 3 years of different crop rotations in an organic farming experiment on a sandy soil in northwest Germany, spring triticale was cultivated on all plots in the fourth year to investigate residual effects on yield, nitrogen (N) leaching and nutrient status in the soil. Previous crop rotations differed in the way N was supplied, either by farmyard manure (FYM, 100 and 200 kg N ha−1 year−1) or by arable legumes like grass-red clover and field beans, or as a control with no N. Other crops in the rotations were maize, winter triticale and spring barley. Additional plots had a 3-year grass-clover ley, that was ploughed-in for spring triticale in the fourth year. Yields of spring triticale were moderate and largest for ploughed-in grassland leys and grass-red clover and plots that had previously received farmyard manure. The former crop rotation, including grassland break-up, had a significant effect on most yield and environmental parameters like residual soil mineral nitrogen (SMN) and N leaching and on the level of available K in the soil. The single crop harvested in the year before spring triticale had a significant effect on yield parameters of spring triticale, less so on SMN and N leaching in the fourth year and no effect on available nutrients (P, K, Mg) and pH in the soil. We conclude that the effects of arable legumes were rather short lived while ploughing of 3-year grassland leys had a profound influence on mineralization processes and subsequently on yield and N losses.  相似文献

Nitrogen transformations in wetland rice ecosystems   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:2
In Asia, rice production has increased an average 2.7% annually - due to greater fertilizer use and crop intensification together with varietal improvement and investment in irrigation facilities. Nitrogen efficiency in tropical rice is low.15N recovery rarely exceeds 30–40% in wetland rice production systems. Ammonia (NH3) volatilization and denitrification are recognized as major nitrogen loss mechanisms in such systems. Information on the relative importance of the two loss processes is available for few sites in Asia. The greatest losses of N are reported to occur when the fertilizer treatment leads to a high concentration of ammoniacal N in the floodwater. Results from the studies using micrometereological technique suggest that ammonia volatilization may be the most important loss process in wetland rice ecosystems. Directly measuring denitrification in the field proved more difficult than measuring NH3 volatilization due to difficulty in distinguishing the main end product of denitrification (N2) against a large background of atmospheric N2. However, the directly measured (N2 + N2O) -15N flux for rice in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines rice fields was less than 1% of the applied N. Green manure incorporation in wetland rice fields reduced N losses from mineral N source due to resulting lower floodwater pH and lower partial pressure of NH3 (pNH3) than that of urea applied alone. At present, the integrated use of green manure and mineral N is receiving much attention in the hope of meeting farmers' desire to reduce cost of production as well as ecological considerations such as increased methane production which contribute to global climate change. Other promising alternative practices for increasing fertilizer N efficiency include improved timing and application methods, particularly through better incorporation of basal N fertilizer without standing water, deep placement, and use of coated fertilizers.  相似文献
