A finite difference method (FDM) with an analytical truncation boundary condition is developed for the analysis of cyclic H-plane waveguide three-port circulators with an arbitrary shape ferrite post. The method is based on scalar wave equations and the analytical field distribution in the rectangular waveguides. A general boundary field equation for an arbitrarily shaped ferrite or dielectric interface is derived. To verify the validity of the present method, the eigenvalue phases of the cyclic three-port empty junctions and the characteristics of H-plane waveguide Y-junction circulators with lossless, lossy cylindrical, composite and triangular ferrite post are calculated. Good agreements with previously published experimental and theoretical results have been achieved. The performance of a Y-junction circulator with a hexagonal ferrite post and the characteristics of a cyclic three-port circulator with a ferrite rod are also investigated.  相似文献

A method based on the equivalence principle and cavity field expansions is used to analyze an H-plane waveguide junction containing an anisotropic (ferrite or composite ferrite) post. Using the equivalence principle, magnetic surface currents are introduced at the imaginary boundaries chosen between the central region of the junction and the waveguides. The electric displacement in the junction can be completely expressed in terms of a solenoidal set. On the other hand, the magnetic induction in the junction must be expressed in terms of a solenoidal set and an irrotational set. Continuing the tangential magnetic field at the imaginary boundaries leads to a matrix equation, the unknowns of which are the amplitudes of the scattered waveguide modes. Using this method, H-plane waveguide junctions with ferrite and composite ferrite posts are considered. The numerical results show excellent agreement with previously published experimental and theoretical results  相似文献

A numerical approach for solving the problem of H-plane waveguide junctions with Iossy ferrite posts of arbitrary shape is proposed. The junctions are allowed to have arbitrary cross section. The approach is a combination of the finite-element method and the analytical method. To show the validity and usefulness of tbe method, Y-junction circulators with a circular ferrite post are considered. Our results agree well with earlier experimental and theoretical results. The performances of Y-junction circulators with a triangular equilateral ferrite post or a triangular ferrite post having depressed sides are investigated. The influences of the ferrite losses on the performance are examined.  相似文献

基于二维三角晶格和正方晶格光子晶体分别设计了六端口和八端口光子晶体环行器.环行器由硅介质柱光子晶体波导和铁氧体介质柱缺陷构成.所设计的六端口环行器每个波导连接处只有一个铁氧体材料,能够有效降低损耗;八端口环行器波导连接处添加了多个铁氧体材料可有效提高隔离度.使用有限元法对电磁波在环行器中的传输进行了仿真验证.计算结果表明,六端口环行器各端口的隔离度达到22~38 dB;八端口环行器各端口的隔离度达到21.7~40.5 dB.设计的多端口环行器具有结构简单紧凑、隔离度高、损耗低的优点.  相似文献

Nonreciprocal wave propagation characteristics through step discontinuities on planar dielectric waveguides with a gyrotropic layer such as ferrite are presented. In the proposed nonreciprocal structures, the wave propagates from a dielectric waveguide to a ferrite and dielectric waveguide or vice versa, where two structures are connected to create abrupt discontinuities. A method for solving the problem of H-plane waveguide junctions with a full-height ferrite post of arbitrary shape is proposed. The junctions are allowed to have arbitrary cross section and arbitrary number of ports. The method is based on the integral equations derived from the reciprocity theorems in both the ferrite region and the air region ranging from the reference planes of connecting waveguides to the inside of the junction. For comparison with the previously published experimental and theoretical results, Y junctions with a circular ferrite post are first treated. Excellent agreement has been found between the experimental data and the numerical results obtained by the present method. The performance of a Y-junction circulator with a triangular ferrite post having rounded angles is next investigated. Both the ferrite geometry and the internal dc magnetic field are examined in detail. For this geometry the calculated 20-dB bandwidth has been found to become greater as the cross section of the ferrite approaches a regular triangle from a circle.  相似文献

A complete finite-element analysis of inhomogeneous E-plane waveguide junctions is presented. It is shown that at least two field components are needed for the analysis. This method solves for the three components of the magnetic field in two dimensions and calculates the scattering parameters of the junction. Precalculated matrices are used for fast matrix assembly. Results for a metallic post agree very well with earlier published values. A dielectric post was also analyzed  相似文献

A modified resonance theory of waveguide circulator with ferrite specimen is presented. The kernal of this theory is a two-step analysis method of an H-plane Y-junction waveguide circulator. For the first step, the ferrite specimens of Y-junction waveguide circulators are treated as if it were dielectric resonators with no magnetic bias. This simplistic approach is used to design the ferrite specimens of the circulators. Simple formulas are developed for determining the center frequency of the circulators. For the second step, wave circulation is made possible when a pair of degenerate resonance modes experiences different changes when the ferrite specimens are being magnetized. A modified analysis of joint resonance theory and simple field theory is advanced to evaluate the performances of the circulators. Good agreements between the analytically obtained performance and experimental result of various MMW waveguide circulators are observed.  相似文献

For the purpose of improving the performance charasteristics of the nonreciprocal remanence ferrite phase shifter, a new configuration with a grooved waveguide is proposed and analyzed. Some results calculated as functions of dielectric and ferrite thickness, waveguide dimensions, and frequency are shown and compared as being in good agreement with experiments at the X band. The figure of merit (differential phase shift per insertion loss) and the handling power of the proposed phase shifter are discussed in comparison with those of the conventional waveguide geometry.  相似文献

A method for synthesizing symmetrical waveguide circulators by adjusting the eigenvalues of the scattering matrix is described. This procedure is particularly useful for the design of very compact circulators in the form of waveguide junctions containing ferrite obstacles. Permissible structural symmetries for a circulator are listed, and a standard form for the scattering matrix of a symmetrical circulator is defined. The synthesis procedure is then described in detail, stating the conditions to be imposed on the scattering matrix eigenvalues, and an expression is obtained for the changes in the eigenvalues due to the placing of anisotropic material within the junction. By applying the theory to Allen's 4-port turnstile circulator, it is shown that the use of a matched turnstile junction and a reflectionless Faraday rotator is not essential. The theory is also applied to the design of novel 3- and 4-port circulators, and two 6-port circulators, one of which may be used as a 5-position waveguide switch, are described. Some experimental results are presented for a compact 3-port circulator in the form of an H-plane Y junction, in 1 inch by 1/2 inch waveguide, containing a ferrite post obstacle. This circulator, which operates with a bias field of approximately 25 oersted, has a useful bandwidth of 3 per cent. Greater bandwidths would be expected in a Stripline or a fin-line version of this device.  相似文献

Nonreciprocal Remanence Phase Shifters in Rectangular Waveguide   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Three types of nonreciprocal remanent phase shifters in rectangular waveguide are described which are approximated by a simple model consisting of twin ferrite slabs symmetrically placed in rectangular waveguide and separated by a dielectric rib. The model has been analyzed with the assumption that a fundamental TE mode wave propagates in the structure. Simultaneous solution of Maxwell's equations in the three regions of dielectric, ferrite, and air within the waveguide enables the characteristic equation to be formed. The characteristics of the model have been obtained with the aid of a computer as a function of dimensions, dielectric and magnetic constants, frequency, and power. The theoretical results are compared with experimental data obtained on a double toroid structure. Correction factors applied to the experimental data, which are necessary to account for differences between the practical structure and the ideal model, are discussed.  相似文献

Since most junctions do not use the full available magnetic splitting of the ferrite material, it is possible to replace part of it by a dielectric. The theoretical and experimental development of such composite stripline circulators using ferrite disks surrounded by dielectric rings is given in this paper. Theoretical calculations and experimental results on the circulation frequency, gyrator admittance, and split frequencies of such circulators are included. The case of a partially magnetized ferrite disk on a ferrite substrate is treated separately. The suscteptance slope parameter of this circulator geometry is also derived and measured. The results obtained in this paper show to what extent the ferrite disk behaves as a dielectric at the edge of the disk. The geometry leads to considerable saving in ferrite material, which is particularly important in UHF circulators. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theory.  相似文献

Approximation methods are used to calculate the phase shift and loss for phase shifters containing ferrite and dielectric, with a uniform dielectric constant throughout the waveguide. If the RF magnetic loss in the ferrite is a significant fraction of the total loss, the overall performance of a phase shifter that is partially filled with ferrite may be superior to the fully filled case. Theoretical results relating performance to the amount of partial filling are presented for Faraday rotators in square and circular waveguides and a twin-slab phase shifter. Experimental results were obtained for a circular Faraday rotator.  相似文献

An S-band four-port E-plane waveguide junction circulator has been developed that has a power-handling capability of 1-MW peak and 1-kW average. Improved ferrite materials and dielectric matching techniques have resulted in a device having a high-power insertion loss of 0.5 dB and a biasing magnetic field of 400 G. The E-plane configuration lends itself to a compact lightweight circulator design having a high-power capability greater than the H-plane configuration, since RF breakdown problems are alleviated by locating the ferrite in the region of minimum RF electric field. The final device requires approximately one-tenth the amount of ferrite and permanent magnet material used in comparable differential phase-shift circulators. The size and weight are reduced by a factor of approximately 5.  相似文献

A moment method solution for treating thin-wire antennas in the presence of an arbitrary dielectric and/or ferrite inhomogeneity is presented. The wire is modeled by an equivalent surface current density, and the dielectric/ferrite inhomogeneity is modeled by equivalent volume polarization currents. The conduction currents on the wire and the polarization currents in the dielectric/ferrite inhomogeneity are treated as independent unknowns and determined in the moment method solution. The method is applied to the problem of a loop antenna loaded with dielectric or ferrite. Numerical results are presented, and are in good agreement with measurements and previous calculations.  相似文献

A recent article by Reggia and Spencer describes a reciprocal ferrite phase shifter for rectangular waveguide, This phase shifter consists of a pencil of ferrite suspended along the central axis of the waveguide by means of a dielectric. The phase is controlled by an applied longitudinal magnetic field. This geometry is shown in Fig. 1. Large amounts of phase shift are produced by this geometry with low insertion loss, and application to antenna beam scanning appears likely, as suggested by Reggia and Spencer.  相似文献
