Using telecommunication networks and shared databases, modern enterprises may deploy the applications that will hold the operations fabric of their enterprises together and improve their worldwide competitiveness. Enterprise-wide applications deployment is a complex systems integration project, even in cases of single-country deployment, because the computing platforms, databases, applications, and communications infrastructure have to be planned and deployed in concert with each other. When the regional and corporate headquarters are on different continents, network planners, data processing (DP) personnel, and executive management alike find themselves dealing with this multidiscipline problem complicated by multicontinental logistics. We consider a number of technical architecture options for the enterprise-wide applications deployment of intercontinental multisite operations and qualify them in terms of their feasibility, technical risks, capital and operation costs, and user satisfaction. We also address the spongy keyboard problem, a condition that may make centralized solutions unsuitable for intercontinental deployment. In choosing the technical architecture to support enterprise-wide applications, we consider the following options: centralized processing, autonomous processing with centralized batch consolidation, regionalized processing with ongoing centralized consolidation, and regionalized processing with global distributed consolidation  相似文献

Information technology (IT) spending remains depressed as organisations look to exploit their existing systems, squeezing out the last drops of benefit to bolster their financial cases. However, at some point the law of diminishing returns will cut in as infrastructure gets older and the needs of business agility stretch the bounds of existing systems. As a result, companies will start to look for the next wave of technology that will help them both upgrade their capacity and improve their agility. Many analysts have identified grid computing and Web Services as the core technologies to support this wave, variously describing it as ‘organic IT’ and the ‘real-time enterprise’. However, there is a broader convergence of both these two technologies with the techniques of business process management that appears to offer even greater benefit. This paper examines the drivers of organisational agility and the corresponding demands on a Web Services-based infrastructure. It identifies the shortfall in current Web Services solutions and highlights how a service-oriented architecture can overcome them. It extends this architecture to incorporate both business process management and grid computing and concludes by deriving a future form for the truly agile enterprise. Few information systems today offer a flexible means to define and manage the automated part of radiology processes, which provide clinical imaging services for the entire healthcare organization. Even fewer of them provide a coherent architecture that can easily cope with heterogeneity and inevitable local adaptation of applications and can integrate clinical and administrative information to aid better clinical, operational, and business decisions. We describe an innovative enterprise architecture of image information management systems to fill the needs. Such a system is based on the interplay of production workflow management, distributed object computing, Java and Web techniques, and in-depth domain knowledge in radiology operations. Our design adapts the approach of "4+1" architectural view. In this new architecture, PACS and RIS become one while the user interaction can be automated by customized workflow process. Clinical service applications are implemented as active components. They can be reasonably substituted by applications of local adaptations and can be multiplied for fault tolerance and load balancing. Furthermore, the workflow-enabled digital radiology system would provide powerful query and statistical functions for managing resources and improving productivity. This paper will potentially lead to a new direction of image information management. We illustrate the innovative design with examples taken from an implemented system.  相似文献

Broadband networks to support a diverse combination of media and services present two interrelated challenges to the designers: how to devise the proper network architectures to efficiently deliver information, and how to realize the control and software infrastructure for end-to-end support of broadband applications. The new networks and applications that represent the future of interactive digital broadband are not driven by technology alone. We should recognize that the true foundation of the future information networking business involves the uses and benefits that it produces. The applications that are driving the information age are numerous, coming from the areas of entertainment, enterprise systems, telecommunications, education, health, etc. The use of client-server distributed object computing technologies is at the foundation of all the software systems that have been designed and implemented. There are still many Issues to he resolved in the application of this software technology, but it is clear that we must rely on distributed software designs to support the features of interactive broadband services. 云计算平台不仅是云产品实现的基础,而且是体现云计算运营思路内涵的表达形式。以Salesforce公司的平台即服务(PaaS)平台为例,对基于多租户架构模型的PaaS平台的各个部分进行了详细剖析,展示了该平台内在的关键支撑技术,总结了技术选用的原则。Salesforce公司的PaaS平台整体架构分为基础物理设施资源和Force.com平台。Force.corn平台是整体架构的核心部件,分为网关和虚拟服务器群(POD)。最后指出云产品平台的构建要选用适合企业自身发展的技术,并与公司经营理念相适应,以推动企业云服务经营业务的发展。  相似文献

We are entering into a new era of enterprise computing that is characterized by an emphasis on broadband convergence, knowledge sharing, and calm services. Some people refer to this as the "ubiquitous network" business model because its focus is on a high degree of connectivity between a company and its customers, suppliers, and channel partners. Moreover, immediate access to ideas, goods, and services will be of greater value than the traditional model of permanent and ponderous possession. This paper illustrates how ubiquitous computing technology can be combined with legacy computer-based information systems, along with thoughts on relevant issues of ubiquitous commerce. Web technologies were initially used for Web publishing and advertising in enterprises. However, over the years Web technologies have merged with other distributed computing technologies and assumed a vital role in satisfying enterprise business needs. This paper takes a systematic and practical look at Web evolution from static HTML to Web-enabled business components that are at the foundation of currently popular Web services (WS). In particular, WS is a result of convergence of the Web with distributed object technologies and is positioned to play a central role in building and integrating enterprise applications in the future. However, the impact of WS is not limited to enterprise boundaries - business-to-business trade and outsourcing through application service providers can also be profoundly impacted. This paper highlights the key aspects of these developments because they will drive the requirements to be satisfied by the current and future Internet technologies. The possible deterrents to these developments and approaches to address these deterrents are also discussed.  相似文献

The information services market, emerging from the convergence of telecommunications, information technology, entertainment and other industries, poses serious challenges for operational support systems. Historical ways of understanding and delivering operational support functions will no longer work. Business management functions will increasingly be a major commercial differentiator in the new market. This paper argues that these functions need to be re-defined as business services so that a market can develop in them. It explains a technical approach to defining and building these business services, which is being researched at BT Laboratories, and which uses configurable business objects and intelligent agents. This approach offers the possibility of managing the complexity that the explosion of new information services will bring, and also of opening up exciting new business possibilities.  相似文献
