A method of group decision making for selecting the optimum location for a nuclear power plant is considered. A concept of convex dependence among three decision makers, an electric power company, the users of electricity, and the population of the region is described using a hypothetical problem. It is shown that convex dependence would play an important role in the group decision or the society's decision, since by using this concept it is possible to describe the different preference structure of each decision maker which depends on the utility level (degree of satisfaction) of the other decision makers.  相似文献

Trip characteristics, travel utility, socio-economic characteristics, and built environment influence travel mode choice. Since the elements have a hierarchical structure, this study conducted multilevel multinomial logistic regression to evaluate the relationship between these elements and travel modes. Particularly, this study focused on how twelve types of expressed travel utilities affect travel mode choice for five travel purposes. The results show that people consider various travel utilities for each travel purpose; these elements influence the travel mode choice of cars, public transit, or non-motorized modes, for example, public transit is preferred for punctuality and multitasking in commute, and for health benefits in shopping.  相似文献

This paper presents a method for generating the weighting factors, incorporated in performance evaluation systems, which are based on the weighted grading concept. A pilot study was conducted. It included a sample of 250 people, and indicated that the method leads to clear hierarchies of preferences. The building faults in the dwellings of the interviewed group were examined, and it seems that they influence the results to a minor extent only.  相似文献

A global research programme was undertaken to investigate the actual costs and charges of obtaining a water connection in urban areas. Drawing from the Uganda case study, this paper will contribute to the understanding of the enormity of the barriers of the connection process and costs levelled against the urban poor, and the importance of programmes and pricing structures for enabling access to the water supply systems. The researchers found a mean cost of new water connection of US$500 (median of $197). This is unaffordable for $2 per-day-households, which are therefore unable to access the benefits from piped water services.  相似文献

The implementation of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic has affected most businesses worldwide. The transportation business, specifically in the Philippines, has been heavily affected since only the healthcare and essential workers were allowed to leave their homes during the early stage of the pandemic. This paper aimed to explore the service quality of Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic utilizing the SERVQUAL dimensions. A total of 564 participants answered an online questionnaire using the convenience sampling approach, consisting of 58 questions. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was applied to derive the causal relationships between SERVQUAL dimensions, COVID-19 safety protocol, and customer satisfaction simultaneously. Out of the six dimensions, the SEM indicated that COVID-19 protocols, tangibility, and assurance variables were found to significantly affect PUV service quality and thus, customer satisfaction. This study is one of the first complete studies that analyzed the PUV service quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. The findings could provide the government with an evaluation of the compliance of PUVs to the imposed COVID-19 protocols. Furthermore, the framework of this study could also be applied and extended in evaluating PUV worldwide.  相似文献

Accurate location of buried utility infrastructures is a vital issue for utility owners, utility managers and engineers, designers, and contractors that perform new installations, repairs, and maintenance on highway projects. Unreliable information on underground utilities can result in undesirable consequences such as property damage, claims, and other social and environmental problems. Subsurface utility engineering (SUE) is becoming a significant method for reducing the potential for underground utility conflicts at the project planning phase. SUE accurately identifies, characterizes, and maps underground utilities through four quality levels. This study presents a SUE benefit-cost analysis (BCA) to encourage a better understanding of SUE and the use of SUE. Eleven main benefit factors and two cost factors are identified and estimated on twenty-two SUE projects and eight non-SUE projects from Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) districts. In addition, this study reveals the relationship between benefit-cost ratio and complexity levels of buried utilities.  相似文献
