Summary The structural changes connected with the beginning of colour development during thermal oxidation of a AES polymer blend have been investigated. The yellowing behaviour of AES has been compared with that of the different components of the blend, and the influence of oxygen partial pressure on the polymer degradation has been determined. Colour changes have been shown to be correlated with the early stages of oxidation, and at the same time the different stabilities of the blend components were verified. 相似文献

The hydrolytic degradation of polycarbonate resins is a first-order process in terms of the decrease in average molecular weights under a relative humidity (RH) and temperature. Two analysis procedures have been developed for making life-cycle predictions of polycarbonate at any combination of humidity and temperature. The first prediction procedure uses an Arrhenius equation derived for determination of the activation energy of polycarbonate hydrolysis tested at various temperatures under a constant RH. The rate constants at any combination of temperature and RH can be determined for a new resin tested at three or more RHs under a temperature, since the logarithm of the Arrhenius intercept has a linear empirical relationship with RH. The second prediction procedure uses a linear relationship between the logarithm of the rate constant and RH derived from the humid-aging of polycarbonate tested at various RHs under a constant temperature. The rate constants at any combination of temperature and RH can be determined for a new resin tested at three or more temperatures under a RH, since the intercept of the above linear relationship has another linear empirical relationship with temperature. 相似文献

Epoxy resins and their fibre or particulate composites are widely used in various industries, including building, naval, aircraft, automotive and aerospace. Modern polymer science and technology focus on the development of green polymers and composites. There are two major areas of interest in the case of epoxy resins: the development of bio-based resins and the production of composites with natural fibres. One of the most interesting challenges is developing fully bio-based composites: that is, epoxy resins based on renewable resources and natural fibres. This paper presents a review of literature on epoxy resins and hardeners based on renewable resources (especially vegetable oils) and epoxy composites with natural fibres. We also describe some of the effective methods of improving the mechanical properties of epoxy–natural fibres composites, including chemical modification of the fibre surface and the application of hybrid reinforcements. 相似文献
