A 3 MV, 800 kA, 24 ns electron beam accelerator is described and the results of initial switching experiments are discussed. The generator will provide a source for studying the physics of processes leading to electron beam driven, inertially confined fusion. The major components of the accelerator are two diodes with a common anode, twelve oildielectric Blumleins with low jitter (< 2 ns) multichannel switches, three intermediate storage capacitors, a trigger pulse generator and two Marx generators. 相似文献

A one-dimensional, time-dependent coaxial transmission line model is presented for analysis of the voltage, v(z,t), and current, i(z,t), response to an electron beam load for the FX-75 accelerator. The model consists of finite segments of coaxial transmission lines separated by lumped equivalent circuits representing the various abrupt discontinuity points. Each line segment is divided into two one-dimensional grids with a 0.1 nanosecond transit time grid separation for the backward and forward TEM waves. Results from program FXPULSE utilizing a thirty-eight line-load representation of the FX-75 accelerator for a time-invariant, high-impedance diode load show close agreement. 相似文献

In the frequency range between 200 and 1200 mcs, it is possible to use either klystrons or triodes for particle accelerator applications. This paper analyzes the bases of choice between these tube types from a systems point of view. It treats development status, initial and operating costs, reliability, system complexity, and all pertinent technical factors. The tentative specifications of the proton linear accelerator r-f system proposed by Los Alamos are used as a basis for comparison, and the conclusions reached on this system are extrapolated to higher and lower frequencies. It is concluded that either triodes or klystrons can be used in most, if not all, applications and that in almost every significant respect, in the frequency range considered, the klystron system is superior to the triode system. 相似文献

A circuit for discriminating neutrons, gammas and charged particles from each other in a phoswich scintillator is described. The scintillator is intended for use as a fast neutron detector. Test results indicate that the particle discrimination capability, noise rejection, and pulse pile up rejection are good. The circuit is capable of operating with very little degradation over a wide temperature range. Energy information for neutrons and gammas is also simultaneously obtained. The dynamic range is at least 20:1. The circuit has the capability of accepting count rates up to 4 × 105 per second without loss of information. 相似文献
