In order to examine the threshold condition for the fatigue limit of materials containing a small crack under cyclic torsion, reversed torsional fatigue tests were carried out on 0.47% C steel specimens containing an initial small crack. Initial small semi-elliptical cracks ranging from 200 to 1000 μm in length were introduced by the preliminary tension–compression fatigue tests using specimens containing holes of 40 μm diameter. The threshold condition for the fatigue limit of the specimens containing artificial small defects under rotating bending and cyclic torsion are also reviewed. Crack growth behaviour from an initial crack was investigated. The torsional fatigue limit for a semi-elliptical small crack is determined by the threshold condition for non-propagation of Mode I branched cracks. The torsional fatigue limit of specimens containing an initial small crack can be successfully predicted by the extended application of the √area parameter model in combination with the σθmax criterion.  相似文献

The effect of the load ratio, R, on fatigue crack growth behaviour is analysed on the basis of the recently proposed inelastic discrete asperities model. A wide range of load ratios, both positive and negative, are examined. Particular emphasis is placed on compressive excursions, i.e. negative R loadings. The inelastic discrete asperities model is a micro-mechanical analysis based on the plastic crushing of a single asperity (or multiple asperities) located on the crack face close to the crack tip and under dominantly plane strain conditions. Experimental data have indicated that the primary crack face contacts which obstruct closure are immediately adjacent to the crack tip, although segments of the crack face more distant from the crack tip are not neglected. However, the more distant asperities are a part of the past crack advance history which does not influence current behaviour. By use of this model, it is shown that the effect of the load ratio can be adequately predicted once some baseline information on mechanical material properties and surface roughness is provided. The model also provides useful trend information and explains many of the observed phenomena, e.g. the ‘saturation’ of the compressive underload effects. For a constant applied nominal stress intensity factor range, ΔKnom , it is shown that the effective stress intensity factor range, ΔKeff , initially decreases as the positive R decreases (corresponding to the increasing influence of closure), reaches a minimum around R = 0, and then starts increasing with negative R (corresponding to the plastic crushing of the asperities which reduces closure), eventually reaching a saturation level below ΔKnom . Conversely, for an assumption of a constant ΔKeff , the applied ΔKnom increases as the positive load ratio decreases, reaching a maximum around R = 0, and then decreases with more negative R values, eventually reaching again a saturation level (above ΔKeff ). It is also shown that the effect of material hardness can be directly analysed based on this model.  相似文献

The results of research into short fatigue crack behaviour in shot peened, medium carbon steel specimens under reversed torsion are presented. Characteristic features of short crack growth were established on the basis of optical and electron-optical observations of the replicas and micro-sections of the samples. Surface crack growth analysis, supported by plots of crack development, crack growth rate and crack length distributions against cycle ratio show that significantly slower crack growth and lower crack densities occur in shot peened specimens than in non-treated samples. That results can be linked to the effect of grain distortion, the packing of laminar grains, a high dislocation density in the plastically deformed surface layer and the introduction of compressive residual stresses. A fractographic analysis of the fracture surfaces has assisted an understanding of the mechanisms of fracture in shot peened specimens.  相似文献

航空航天、核反应堆工程等重要工程结构的安全控制对材料断裂性能有重要需求,小尺寸试样断裂韧性测试需求日益凸显。该文提出了一套用于小尺寸构件疲劳裂纹扩展速率测试的C形环小试样试验方法,设计了试样构形和试验夹具,并基于有限元分析和柔度法理论,建立了C形环小试样裂纹长度预测公式和应力强度因子K的表达式。对于低压转子材料26NiCrMoV11-5钢,采用C形环小试样和标准CT试样完成了疲劳裂纹扩展试验,获得了材料的疲劳裂纹扩展特性,并讨论了新方法的有效性。  相似文献

Abstract— The mechanical behaviour of AISI 329 steel has been investigated for ageing times up to 20,000 h at temperatures of 475, 425, 375, 325 and 275°C. The study has concentrated on the changes in the response to cyclic strains, in the low-and the high-cycle fatigue regimes, and in the resistance to fatigue crack propagation as a function of temperature and time of ageing.
It is shown that ageing increases the fatigue resistance in the high-cycle fatigue regime, but the opposite occurs in the low-cycle fatigue regime. Ageing increases the LEFM threshold stress intensity factor range for fatigue crack propagation which reaches high values in these alloys, and is influenced by the fatigue load ratio. Crack closure contributes to the LEFM threshold stress intensity factor range for crack propagation only in the annealed condition of the AISI 329 steel.  相似文献

Abstract— In this investigation the Electron Channelling Contrast (ECC) technique in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was applied to reveal the dislocation structures in the vicinity of surface fatigue cracks in comparison to those of cyclically-deformed recrystallized polycrystalline copper. The plastic zone around a fatigue crack was found to consist of an innermost region containing cells, followed by a region containing dense veins and PSBs, surrounded by a structure of loose veins, bundles and loop patches typical of the cyclically deformed matrix. A relation between plastic strain amplitude values deduced from cyclic stress-strain investigations and the dislocation structures near fatigue cracks are given. Typical regions of damage accumulation were identified and plastic strain contours for surface fatigue cracks established. The essentially non-destructive ECC technique is particularly suited to identify the changes in mesoscopic dislocation structures from surface layers to the interior of specimens over large specimen areas.  相似文献

The effects of plate thickness and crack shape on the threshold condition for crack propagation under cyclic bending or torsion, was studied using a through or a surface pre-crack in a carbon steel plate of various thicknesses. It was concluded that the magnitude of the frictional stress acting on the crack surface at the propagation threshold under cyclic torsion was significantly affected by the plate thickness. An estimation method for the threshold condition for crack propagation under mixed-mode loading for a particular plate thickness was proposed on the basis of the strain energy density criterion.  相似文献

以国产桥梁用高性能钢HPS485W为研究对象,对7.5mm、12.5mm和19.5mm的HPS485W紧凑拉伸试样分别在应力比R=0.1、R=0.5和R=0.8的疲劳荷载下进行疲劳裂纹扩展速率(da/dN)试验,采用七点递增多项式的方法进行局部拟合求得试样的疲劳裂纹扩展速率。与传统桥梁用钢14MnNb相比,该文试验测得高性能钢HPS485W具有更优越的忍受疲劳裂纹扩展能力。试验结果表明:试样厚度是影响疲劳裂纹扩展速率的关键因素;对同一厚度的试样,疲劳裂纹扩展速率随着应力比R的增大而增大。此外,对19.5mm试样在荷载比R=0.1的情况下,进行工程门槛值的试验测定和理论门槛值的数值求解,分析求得19.5mm的HPS485W的理论门槛值为7.22MPa·m1/2。该文试验得到的HPS485W疲劳裂纹扩展曲线,可用于高性能钢桥的抗疲劳、防断裂设计与寿命预测。  相似文献

This paper presents mode I stress intensity factors for external circumferentially cracked hollow cylinders, which are assumed to be made of functionally graded materials and subjected to remote uniform tension. The conventional finite element method is improved by introducing isoparametric transformation for simulating the gradient variations of material properties in the finite elements. This improved finite element method is verified to be effective and efficient. Various types of functionally graded materials and different gradient compositions for each type are investigated. The results show that the material property distribution has a quite considerable influence on the stress intensity factors.  相似文献

采用漏磁法可检测抽油杆表面存在的各种缺陷,但对于在现场检测的抽油杆表面却存在油污(虽然经过清洗)、表面粗糙及直线度低(虽然经过矫直)等问题,使得检测过程中的检测探头与被检测的抽油杆接触不严密,造成对微小缺陷特别是疲劳裂纹的检测信号不敏感.研制了拉伸式管/杆漏磁无损检测实验台,对拉伸实验杆预制疲劳裂纹并对其进行了检测试验,结果采集到了更大的疲劳裂纹信号,因此用该方法提高了漏磁法检测抽油杆疲劳裂纹的灵敏度.  相似文献

Abstract— In order to evaluate the threshold value Δ K τth for mode II fatigue crack growth, a new measurement method of mode II fatigue crack growth has been developed. This method uses a conventional closed-loop tension—compression fatigue testing machine without additional loading attachments. Mode II fatigue tests for structural steel and rail steel have been carried out. This method has proved successful and has reproduced mode II fatigue fracture surfaces similar to those found in the spalling of industrial steel-making rolls. The crack length during testing was measured by an AC potential method. The relationships between d a /d N and Δ K τ and AK τth for several materials have been obtained.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the development and application of an analytical model for predicting fatigue crack growth in fibre-reinforced metal laminates (FRMLs). An analytical model for the distribution of bridging traction is first introduced. Based upon observations of the delamination shapes in FRMLs under fatigue loading and a model for characterizing delamination growth in FRMLs, a model for predicting crack growth rates in CCT specimens of FRMLs is developed. The model is applied to two GLARE laminates (2/1, 3/2 lay-ups) under various cyclic stress levels and stress ratios. The predicted crack growth rates are compared with experimental data. The predicted crack growth rates agree well with the experimental results.  相似文献

Abstract— This paper describes a versatile technique for simulating the fatigue growth of a wide range of planar cracks of practical significance. Crack growth is predicted on a step-by-step basis from the Paris law using stress intensity factors calculated by the finite element method. The crack front is defined by a cubic spline curve from a set of nodes. Both the 1/4-node crack opening displacement and the three-dimensional J -integral (energy release rate) methods are used to calculate the stress intensity factors. Automatic remeshing of the finite element model to a new position which defines the new crack front enables the crack propagation to be followed. The accuracy and capability of this finite element simulation technique are demonstrated in this paper by the investigation of various problems of both theoretical and practical interest. These include the shape growth trend of an embedded initially penny-shaped defect and an embedded initially elliptical defect in an infinite body, the growth of a semi-elliptical surface crack in a finite thickness plate under tension and bending, the propagation of an internal crack in a round bar and the shape change of an external surface crack in a pressure vessel.  相似文献

将纤维增强筋(FRP筋)混凝土梁裂缝的开展过程视作FRP筋由两侧混凝土中拔出的过程,建立了基于粘结-滑移的FRP筋轻骨料混凝土梁裂缝宽度微分方程。根据规范给出的裂缝宽度限值,合理确定滑移量上限,提出并引入了适用于梁正常使用阶段的FRP筋钢纤维轻骨料混凝土“低滑移”阶段粘结-滑移本构模型。进而,在明确最大裂缝间距lmax、裂缝宽度放大系数h2/h1与裂缝截面纤维混凝土残余应力σfib等特征参数的基础上,利用迭代算法建立了FRP筋钢纤维轻骨料混凝土梁最大裂缝宽度计算模型。基于正常使用阶段裂缝宽度实测数据对建议模型的适用性进行评估,结果表明:裂缝宽度限值0.5 mm内,建议模型能够准确预测FRP筋钢纤维轻骨料混凝土梁的最大裂缝宽度。  相似文献

考虑到如紧凑拉伸和三点弯曲等标准试样的大尺寸要求以及高试验成本等突出问题,该文发展了含外侧径向裂纹C形环小试样(C-ring with an outer radial crack,CRO)的疲劳裂纹扩展行为试验方法。利用有限元分析建立了CRO小试样的高精度应力强度因子算式以及基于柔度法理论的裂纹长度预测公式。采用5083-H112铝合金分别完成了CRO试样和标准CT试样的疲劳裂纹扩展速率试验,获得了相应的Paris方程中的幂指数。通过对比发现,CRO和CT试样的疲劳裂纹扩展规律基本一致,验证了新方法的有效性。基于上述方法对C250钢两种厚度CRO试样的疲劳裂纹扩展行为进行了应用研究。  相似文献
