Incorporating reversible sacrificial bonds in network polymers not only toughens these materials but also endows them with self‐recoverability. However, self‐recoverability is only realized for dispersed energy less than 10 MJ m?3. It remains a challenge to achieve simultaneous high stretchability, toughness, and recoverability. Here, inspired by the structure of mussel byssus cuticles, a new design strategy is proposed and demonstrated to improve both the toughness and self‐recoverability of elastomers by introducing a microphase‐separated structure with different physical crosslink densities. This structure can be achieved using a carefully designed comonomer sequence distribution of hydrogen bonding units in an ABA‐type triblock copolymer. The A blocks form hard domains with dense crosslinking that prevents macroscopic deformation, while the B blocks form a softer matrix with sparse and dynamic crosslinks that serve as sacrificial bonds. This elastomer exhibits high toughness (≈62 MJ m?3), self‐healing, and most notably, excellent self‐recovery (recovery against 650% elongation and 17 MPa tensile stress with a dissipated energy >27 MJ m?3 at room temperature). This combination of toughness, self‐healing, and self‐recovery expands the range of applications of these advanced dynamic materials.  相似文献

Conventional design wisdom prevents both bulk and interfacial toughness to be presented in the same hydrogel, because the bulk properties of hydrogels are usually different from the interfacial properties of the same hydrogels on solid surfaces. Here, a fully‐physically‐linked agar (the first network)/poly(N ‐hydroxyethyl acrylamide) (pHEAA, the second network), where both networks are physically crosslinked via hydrogen bonds, is designed and synthesized. Bulk agar/pHEAA hydrogels exhibit high mechanical properties (2.6 MPa tensile stress, 8.0 tensile strain, 8000 J m?2 tearing energy, 1.62 MJ m?3 energy dissipation), high self‐recovery without any external stimuli (62%/30% toughness/stiffness recovery), and self‐healing property. More impressively, without any surface modification, agar/pHEAA hydrogels can be easily and physically anchored onto different nonporous solid substrates of glass, titanium, aluminum, and ceramics to produce superadhesive hydrogel–solid interfaces (i.e., high interfacial toughness of 2000–7000 J m?2). Comparison of as‐prepared and swollen gels in water and hydrogen‐bond‐breaking solvents reveals that strong bulk toughness provides a structural basis for strong interfacial toughness, and both high toughness mainly stem from cooperative hydrogen bonds between and within two networks and between two networks and solid substrates. This work demonstrates a new gel system to achieve superhigh bulk and interfacial toughness on nonporous solid surfaces.  相似文献

Self‐healing triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) with flexibility, robustness, and conformability are highly desirable for promising flexible and wearable devices, which can serve as a durable, stable, and renewable power supply, as well as a self‐powered sensor. Herein, an entirely self‐healing, flexible, and tailorable TENG is designed as a wearable sensor to monitor human motion, with infrared radiation from skin to promote self‐healing after being broken based on thermal effect of infrared radiation. Human skin is a natural infrared radiation emitter, providing favorable conditions for the device to function efficiently. The reversible imine bonds and quadruple hydrogen bonding (UPy) moieties are introduced into polymer networks to construct self‐healable electrification layer. UPy‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes are further incorporated into healable polymer to obtain conductive nanocomposite. Driven by the dynamic bonds, the designed and synthesized materials show excellent intrinsic self‐healing and shape‐tailorable features. Moreover, there is a robust interface bonding in the TENG devices due to the similar healable networks between electrification layer and electrode. The output electric performances of the self‐healable TENG devices can almost restore their original state when the damage of the devices occurs. This work presents a novel strategy for flexible devices, contributing to future sustainable energy and wearable electronics.  相似文献

Halogen bonding is arguably the least exploited among the many non‐covalent interactions used in dictating molecular self‐assembly. However, its directionality renders it unique compared to ubiquitous hydrogen bonding. Here, the role of this directionality in controlling the performance of light‐responsive supramolecular polymers is highlighted. In particular, it is shown that light‐induced surface patterning, a unique phenomenon occurring in azobenzene‐containing polymers, is more efficient in halogen‐bonded polymer–azobenzene complexes than in the analogous hydrogen‐bonded complexes. A systematic study is performed on a series of azo dyes containing different halogen or hydrogen bonding donor moieties, complexed to poly(4‐vinylpyridine) backbone. Through single‐atom substitution of the bond‐donor, control of both the strength and the nature of the noncovalent interaction between the azobenzene units and the polymer backbone is achieved. Importantly, such substitution does not significantly alter the electronic properties of the azobenzene units, hence providing us with unique tools in studying the structure–performance relationships in the light‐induced surface deformation process. The results represent the first demonstration of light‐responsive halogen‐bonded polymer systems and also highlight the remarkable potential of halogen bonding in fundamental studies of photoresponsive azobenzene‐containing polymers.  相似文献

Natural polymers with abundant side functionalities are emerging as a promising binder for high‐capacity yet large‐volume‐change silicon anodes with a strong and reversible supramolecular interaction that originates from secondary bonding. However, the supramolecular network solely based on hydrogen bonding is relatively vulnerable to repeated deformation and has an insufficient diffusivity of lithium ions. Herein, reported is a facile but efficient way of incorporating the natural polymers with an ionically conductive crosslinker, which can construct a robust network for silicon anodes. The boronic acid in the crosslinker spontaneously reacts with natural polymers to generate boronic esters at room temperature without any kind of triggers, which gives a strong and dynamic covalent bonding to the supramolecular network. The other component in the crosslinker, polyethylene oxide, contributes to the enhanced ionic conductivity of polymers, leading to outstanding rate performances even at a high mass loading of silicon nanoparticles (>2 mg cm?2). The small portion of the proposed crosslinker can modulate the strength of the entire network by balancing the covalent crosslinking and self‐healing secondary interaction along with the fast lithium‐ion diffusion, thus enabling the extended operation of silicon electrodes.  相似文献

Developing physical double‐network (DN) removable hydrogel adhesives with both high healing efficiency and photothermal antibacterial activities to cope with multidrug‐resistant bacterial infection, wound closure, and wound healing remains an ongoing challenge. An injectable physical DN self‐healing hydrogel adhesive under physiological conditions is designed to treat multidrug‐resistant bacteria infection and full‐thickness skin incision/defect repair. The hydrogel adhesive consists of catechol–Fe3+ coordination cross‐linked poly(glycerol sebacate)‐co‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐g‐catechol and quadruple hydrogen bonding cross‐linked ureido‐pyrimidinone modified gelatin. It possesses excellent anti‐oxidation, NIR/pH responsiveness, and shape adaptation. Additionally, the hydrogel presents rapid self‐healing, good tissue adhesion, degradability, photothermal antibacterial activity, and NIR irradiation and/or acidic solution washing‐assisted removability. In vivo experiments prove that the hydrogels have good hemostasis of skin trauma and high killing ratio for methicillin‐resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and achieve better wound closure and healing of skin incision than medical glue and surgical suture. In particular, they can significantly promote full‐thickness skin defect wound healing by regulating inflammation, accelerating collagen deposition, promoting granulation tissue formation, and vascularization. These on‐demand dissolvable and antioxidant physical double‐network hydrogel adhesives are excellent multifunctional dressings for treating in vivo MRSA infection, wound closure, and wound healing.  相似文献

Nature has evolved several molecular strategies to ensure adhesion in aqueous environments, where artificial adhesives typically fail. One recently‐unveiled molecular design for wet‐resistant adhesion is the cohesive cross‐β structure characteristic of amyloids, complementing the well‐established surface‐binding strategy of mussel adhesive proteins based on 3,4‐l ‐dihydroxyphenylalanine (Dopa). Structural proteins that self‐assemble into cross β‐sheet networks are the suckerins discovered in the sucker ring teeth of squids. Here, light is shed on the wet adhesion of cross‐β motifs by producing recombinant suckerin‐12, naturally lacking Dopa, and investigating its wet adhesion properties. Surprisingly, the adhesion forces measured on mica reach 70 mN m?1, exceeding those measured for all mussel adhesive proteins to date. The pressure‐sensitive adhesion of artificial suckerins is largely governed by their cross‐β motif, as evidenced using control experiments with disrupted cross‐β domains that result in complete loss of adhesion. Dopa is also incorporated in suckerin‐12 using a residue‐specific incorporation strategy that replaces tyrosine with Dopa during expression in Escherichia coli. Although the replacement does not increase the long‐term adhesion, it contributes to the initial rapid contact and enhances the adsorption onto model oxide substrates. The findings suggest that suckerins with supramolecular cross‐β motifs are promising biopolymers for wet‐resistant adhesion.  相似文献

A 3‐aminopropyltrimethoxysilane‐derived self‐assembled monolayer (NH2SAM) is investigated as a barrier against copper diffusion for application in back‐end‐of‐line (BEOL) technology. The essential characteristics studied include thermal stability to BEOL processing, inhibition of copper diffusion, and adhesion to both the underlying SiO2 dielectric substrate and the Cu over‐layer. Time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry and X‐ray spectroscopy (XPS) analysis reveal that the copper over‐layer closes at 1–2‐nm thickness, comparable with the 1.3‐nm closure of state‐of‐the‐art Ta/TaN Cu diffusion barriers. That the NH2SAM remains intact upon Cu deposition and subsequent annealing is unambiguously revealed by energy‐filtered transmission electron microscopy supported by XPS. The SAM forms a well‐defined carbon‐rich interface with the Cu over‐layer and electron energy loss spectroscopy shows no evidence of Cu penetration into the SAM. Interestingly, the adhesion of the Cu/NH2SAM/SiO2 system increases with annealing temperature up to 7.2 J m?2 at 400 °C, comparable to Ta/TaN (7.5 J m?2 at room temperature). The corresponding fracture analysis shows that when failure does occur it is located at the Cu/SAM interface. Overall, these results demonstrate that NH2SAM is a suitable candidate for subnanometer‐scale diffusion barrier application in a selective coating for copper advanced interconnects.  相似文献

A controllable one‐pot method to synthesize N‐doped ordered mesoporous carbons (NMC) with a high N content by using dicyandiamide as a nitrogen source via an evaporation‐induced self‐assembly process is reported. In this synthesis, resol molecules can bridge the Pluronic F127 template and dicyandiamide via hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions. During thermosetting at 100 °C for formation of rigid phenolic resin and subsequent pyrolysis at 600 °C for carbonization, dicyandiamide provides closed N species while resol can form a stable framework, thus ensuring the successful synthesis of ordered N‐doped mesoporous carbon. The obtained N‐doped ordered mesoporous carbons possess tunable mesostructures (p6m and Im m symmetry) and pore size (3.1–17.6 nm), high surface area (494–586 m2 g?1), and high N content (up to 13.1 wt%). Ascribed to the unique feature of large surface area and high N contents, NMC materials show high CO2 capture of 2.8–3.2 mmol g?1 at 298 K and 1.0 bar, and exhibit good performance as the supercapacitor electrode with specific capacitances of 262 F g?1 (in 1 M H2SO4) and 227 F g?1 (in 6 M KOH) at a current density of 0.2 A g?1.  相似文献

Harvesting ambient mechanical energy is a key technology for realizing self‐powered electronics, which has tremendous applications in wireless sensing networks, implantable devices, portable electronics, etc. The currently reported triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) mainly uses solid materials, so that the contact between the two layers cannot be 100% with considering the roughness of the surfaces, which greatly reduces the total charge density that can be transferred and thus the total energy conversion efficiency. In this work, a liquid‐metal‐based triboelectric nanogenerator (LM‐TENG) is developed for high power generation through conversion of mechanical energy, which allows a total contact between the metal and the dielectric. Due to that the liquid–solid contact induces large contacting surface and its shape adaptive with the polymer thin films, the LM‐TENG exhibits a high output charge density of 430 μC m?2, which is four to five times of that using a solid thin film electrode. And its power density reaches 6.7 W m?2 and 133 kW m?3. More importantly, the instantaneous energy conversion efficiency is demonstrated to be as high as 70.6%. This provides a new approach for improving the performance of the TENG for special applications. Furthermore, the liquid easily fluctuates, which makes the LM‐TENG inherently suitable for vibration energy harvesting.  相似文献

Despite the tremendous advancement of intelligent robots, it remains a great challenge to integrate living organisms‐like multistimuli responsive actuation and excellent self‐healing ability into one single material system, which will greatly benefit and broaden the development of smart biomimetic materials. Herein, a novel self‐healable multistimuli responsive actuator is developed based on hierarchical structural design and interfacial supramolecular crosslinking. The resulting biomimetic actuator shows a record high photothermal efficiency (ηPT = 79.1%) and thermal conductivity (31.92 W m?1 K?1), and presents a superfast actuating response (near‐infrared light: 0.44 s; magnetic field: 0.36 s). In addition, the supramolecular crosslinking endows excellent self‐healing performance in both mechanical and actuating properties to the material. This biomimetic actuator with its hierarchical structure design provides great potential for various applications, such as artificial muscles, soft robotics, and biomedical microdevices.  相似文献

A series of isoindigo‐based conjugated polymers (PII2F‐CmSi, m = 3–11) with alkyl siloxane‐terminated side chains are prepared, in which the branching point is systematically “moved away” from the conjugated backbone by one carbon atom. To investigate the structure–property relationship, the polymer thin film is subsequently tested in top‐contact field‐effect transistors, and further characterized by both grazing incidence X‐ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. Hole mobilities over 1 cm2 V?1 s?1 is exhibited for all soluble PII2F‐CmSi (m = 5–11) polymers, which is 10 times higher than the reference polymer with same polymer backbone. PII2F‐C9Si shows the highest mobility of 4.8 cm2 V?1 s?1, even though PII2F‐C11Si exhibits the smallest π–π stacking distance at 3.379 Å. In specific, when the branching point is at, or beyond, the third carbon atoms, the contribution to charge transport arising from π–π stacking distance shortening becomes less significant. Other factors, such as thin‐film microstructure, crystallinity, domain size, become more important in affecting the resulting device's charge transport.  相似文献

The 193 nm photochemistry of (aminoethylaminomethyl)phenethylsiloxane (PEDA) self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) under ambient conditions is described. The primary photodegradation pathways at low exposure doses (< 100 mJ cm–2) are benzylic C–N bond cleavage (ca. 68 %), with oxidation of the benzyl C to the aldehyde, and Si–C bond cleavage (ca. 32 %). Amine‐containing photoproducts released from the SAM during exposure remain physisorbed on the surface, where they undergo secondary photolysis leading to their complete degradation and removal after ca. 1200 mJ cm–2. NaCl(aq) post‐exposure rinsing removes the physisorbed materials, showing that degradation of the original PEDA species (leaving Si–OH) is substantially complete after ca. 450 mJ cm–2. Consequently, patterned, rinsed PEDA SAMs function as efficient templates for fabrication of high‐resolution, negative‐tone, electroless metal and DNA features with good selectivity at low dose (i.e., ca. 400 mJ cm–2) via materials grafting to the intact amines remaining in the unirradiated PEDA SAM regions.  相似文献

A facile approach of solvent‐evaporation‐induced coating and self‐assembly is demonstrated for the mass preparation of ordered mesoporous carbon‐silica composite monoliths by using a polyether polyol‐based polyurethane (PU) foam as a sacrificial scaffold. The preparation is carried out using resol as a carbon precursor, tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) as a silica source and Pluronic F127 triblock copolymer as a template. The PU foam with its macrostructure provides a large, 3D, interconnecting interface for evaporation‐induced coating of the phenolic resin‐silica block‐copolymer composites and self‐assembly of the mesostructure, and endows the composite monoliths with a diversity of macroporous architectures. Small‐angle X‐ray scattering, X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy results indicate that the obtained composite monoliths have an ordered mesostructure with 2D hexagonal symmetry (p6m) and good thermal stability. By simply changing the mass ratio of the resol to TEOS over a wide range (10–90%), a series of ordered, mesoporous composite foams with different compositions can be obtained. The composite monoliths with hierarchical macro/mesopores exhibit large pore volumes (0.3–0.8 cm3 g?1), uniform pore sizes (4.2–9.0 nm), and surface areas (230–610 m2 g?1). A formation process for the hierarchical porous composite monoliths on the struts of the PU foam through the evaporation‐induced coating and self‐assembly method is described in detail. This simple strategy performed on commercial PU foam is a good candidate for mass production of interface‐assembly materials.  相似文献

Improving the capacitance of carbon materials for supercapacitors without sacrificing their rate performance, especially volumetric capacitance at high mass loadings, is a big challenge because of the limited assessable surface area and sluggish electrochemical kinetics of the pseudocapacitive reactions. Here, it is demonstrated that “self‐doping” defects in carbon materials can contribute to additional capacitance with an electrical double‐layer behavior, thus promoting a significant increase in the specific capacitance. As an exemplification, a novel defect‐enriched graphene block with a low specific surface area of 29.7 m2 g?1 and high packing density of 0.917 g cm?3 performs high gravimetric, volumetric, and areal capacitances of 235 F g?1, 215 F cm?3, and 3.95 F cm?2 (mass loading of 22 mg cm?2) at 1 A g?1, respectively, as well as outstanding rate performance. The resulting specific areal capacitance reaches an ultrahigh value of 7.91 F m?2 including a “self‐doping” defect contribution of 4.81 F m?2, which is dramatically higher than the theoretical capacitance of graphene (0.21 F m?2) and most of the reported carbon‐based materials. Therefore, the defect engineering route broadens the avenue to further improve the capacitive performance of carbon materials, especially for compact energy storage under limited surface areas.  相似文献

Novel inorganic/organic self‐powered UV–vis photodetectors based on single Se microtube and conducting polymers—polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPy), and poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)—are fabricated. The conducting polymers are directly coated on the surface of a single Se microtube via a facile and low‐cost in situ polymerization method. The integrated Se/PANI photodetector with 45‐nm‐thick PANI layer shows excellent self‐powered behavior under UV–vis light illumination. In particular, it exhibits high on/off ratio of 1.1 × 103, responsivity (120 mA W?1), large detectivity (3.78 × 1011 Jones), and ultrafast response speed (rise time of 4.5 µs and fall time of 2.84 ms) at zero bias at 610 nm (0.434 mW cm?2)‐light illumination. Moreover, the individual Se/PPy and Se/PEDOT self‐powered photodetectors also exhibit fast and stable responses, including responsivity of 70 and 5.5 mA W?1, rise time of 0.35 and 1.00 ms, fall time of 16.97 and 9.78 ms, respectively. Given the simple device architecture and low cost fabrication process, this work provides a promising way to fabricate inorganic/organic, high‐performance, self‐powered photodetectors.  相似文献

Combinations of hydrogels and solids provide high level functionality for devices such as tissue engineering scaffolds and soft machines. However, the weak bonding between hydrogels and solids hampers functionality. Here, a versatile strategy to develop mechanically robust solid?hydrogel hybrid materials using surface embedded radicals generated through plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) of polymeric surfaces is reported. Evidence is provided that the reactive radicals play a dual role: inducing surface‐initiated, spontaneous polymerization of hydrogels; and binding the hydrogels to the surfaces. Acrylamide and silk hydrogels are formed and covalently attached through spontaneous reactions with the radicals on PIII activated polymer surfaces without cross‐linking agents or initiators. The hydrogel amount increases with incubation time, monomer concentration, and temperature. Stability tests indicate that 95% of the hydrogel is retained even after 4 months in PBS solution. T‐peel tests show that failure occurs at the tape?hydrogel interface and the hydrogel‐PIII‐treated PTFE interfacial adhesion strength is over 300 N m?1. Cell assays show no adhesion to the as‐synthesized hydrogels; however, hydrogels synthesized with fibronectin enable cell adhesion and spreading. These results show that polymers functionalized with surface‐embedded radicals provide excellent solid platforms for the generation of robust solid?hydrogel hybrid structures for biomedical applications.  相似文献

Despite their huge application capabilities, millimeter‐ and terahertz‐wave photodetectors still face challenges in the detection scheme. Topological insulators (TIs) are predicted to be promising candidates for long‐wavelength photodetection, due to the presence of Dirac fermions in their topologically protected surface states. However, photodetection based on TIs is usually hindered by the large dark current, originating from the mixing of bulk states with topological surface states (TSSs) in most realistic samples of TIs. Here millimeter and terahertz detectors based on a subwavelength metal–TI–metal (MTM) heterostructure are demonstrated. The achieved photoresponse stems from the asymmetric scattering of TSS, driven by the localized surface plasmon‐induced terahertz field, which ultimately produces direct photocarriers beyond the interband limit. The device enables high responsivity in both the self‐powered and bias modes even at room temperature. The achieved responsivity is over 75 A/W, with response time shorter than 60 ms in the self‐powered mode. Remarkably, the responsivity increases by several orders of magnitude in the biased configuration, with the noise‐equivalent power (NEP) of 3.6 × 10?13 W Hz?1/2 and a detectivity of 2.17 × 1011 cm Hz?1/2 W?1 at room temperature. The detection performances open a way toward realistic exploitation of TIs for large‐area, real‐time imaging within long‐wavelength optoelectronics.  相似文献

Self‐assembled membranes offer a promising alternative for conventional membrane fabrication, especially in the field of ultrafiltration. Here, a new pore‐making strategy is introduced involving stimuli responsive protein‐polymer conjugates self‐assembled across a large surface area using drying‐mediated interfacial self‐assembly. The membrane is flexible and assembled on porous supports. The protein used is the cage protein ferritin and resides within the polymer matrix. Upon denaturation of ferritin, a pore is formed which intrinsically is determined by the size of the protein and how it resides in the matrix. Due to the self‐assembly at interfaces, the membrane constitutes of only one layer resulting in a membrane thickness of 7 nm on average in the dry state. The membrane is stable up to at least 50 mbar transmembrane pressure, operating at a flux of about 21 000–25 000 L m?2 h?1 bar?1 and displayed a preferred size selectivity of particles below 20 nm. This approach diversifies membrane technology generating a platform for “smart” self‐assembled membranes.  相似文献

Tuning the intrinsic strain of Pt‐based nanomaterials has shown great promise for improving the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance. Herein, reported is a tunable surface strain in penta‐twinned ternary Pt–Cu–Mn nanoframes (NFs). Pt–Cu–Mn ultrafine NFs (UNFs) exhibit ≈1.5% compressive strain compared to Pt–Cu–Mn pentagonal NFs (PNFs) and show the superior activity toward ORR in an alkaline environment. Specifically, the specific and mass activity of Pt–Cu–Mn UNFs are 3.38 mA cm?2 and 1.45 A mg?1, respectively, which is 1.45 and 1.71 times higher than that of Pt–Cu–Mn PNFs, demonstrating that compressive strain in NFs structure can effectively enhance the catalytic activity of ORR. Impressively, Pt–Cu–Mn UNFs exhibit 8.67 and 9.67 times enhanced specific and mass activity compared with commercial Pt/C. Theoretical calculations reveal that compression on the surface of Pt–Cu–Mn UNFs can weaken the bonding strengths and adsorption of oxygen‐containing intermediates, resulting in an optimal condition for ORR.  相似文献
