A number of esters were prepared from the reaction of acid chlorides with ricinoleic acid polymers and screened for anti-rust
properties and antimicrobial activity in spent coolants of water-based cutting fluids. Aqueous solutions of triethanolamine
salts with decanoic acid, undecanoic acid and oleic acid esters of ricinoleic acid dimer, trimer, tetramer and hexamer showed
good anti-rust properties for water-based cutting fluids. Dehydrates of ricinoleic acid polymers also showed good anti-rust

Several adducts were prepared from the thermal reaction of hydroxyl fatty acids (ricinoleic acid oligomers, 12-hydroxystearic
acid oligomers, oleyl alcohol, dehydrated castor oil fatty acids, and dimer acid) with maleic anhydride and screened as water-soluble
cutting fluids. For example, aqueous solutions of triethanolamine salts with the products of ricinoleic acid oligomers, 12-hydroxystearic
acid dimer, and 12-hydroxysteric acid hexamer showed good antirust properties for waterbased cutting fluids. Various half
esters of hydroxyl fatty compounds with acid anhydrides were prepared. Aqueous solutions of triethanolamine salts of half
esters of maleic anhydride and succinic anhydride and phthalic anhydride with hydroxyl fatty acids gave good antirust and

of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide), and they were screened for antirust and other properties associated with water-based
cutting fluids. An aqueous emulsion of an adduct of triethanolamine and the oleic acid ester of polymeric nonionic surface-active
agent showed excellent antirust properties when used as a water-based cutting fluid. The emulsion of triethanolamine and the

Currently most technologies available to produce esters require acid or base catalysts for esterification or transesterification reactions. Production of dimerate esters (DE) exhibiting potential as a biolubricant for low temperature applications using catalyst‐ and solvent‐free approaches is presented in this article. Hydrogenated C36 dimer acid and alcohol are reacted under the following conditions: dimer acid/alcohol (1:4.5 molar ratio), 150–200 °C, 24 h, 3Å molecular sieve (15% w/w). The performances of four DE species—dibutyl, dihexyl, di‐(2‐ethylhexyl), and dioctyl dimerate—as lubricant base stocks are evaluated by kinematic viscosity, viscosity index, cloud and pour point (cold flow properties) as well as oxidative stability, and compared with commercial synthetic lubricant base stock and DE, Radialube 7121. High viscosity indexes ranging between 129 and 138 are observed for the synthesized DEs, which are comparable with two commercial base stock, polyalpha olefin (PAO), and polyolester (POE). Significantly low pour point, less than ?42 °C, is observed for di‐(2‐ethylhexyl) dimerate attributed to the branching of the side chain. The DEs are categorized as ISO VG 68 based on their viscosity according to ISO 3448 classification and show potential as biolubricant with high viscosity index and excellent cold flow properties. Practical Applications: DFAE obtained have high potential to be used as lubricant base stock for equipment and machinery operating at extremely low temperature. 相似文献

New emulsifiers were developed by esterification of polytriethanolamine based on the dimerization and trimerization of triethanolamine.
The dimer and trimer were esterified with oleic acid to prepare monoesters of di-triethanolamine and tri-triethanolamine.
The synthesized esters were evaluated as water-in-oil emulsifiers in oil-based muds, which are the circulating fluids used
in rotary drilling to perform various functions required in the drilling operation, such as control of density, flow, and
filtration properties. The dimer and trimer of triethanolamine were also esterified with hydrolyzed cottonseed oil, and the

Hydroxy acids were synthesized in good yields from ketones and fatty acids by the use of lithium naphthalene in the presence
of diethylamine. For example, from cyclohexanone and undecylenic acid (I), 2-(1-hydroxy-1-cyclohexyl)-10-undecenoic acid (III)
was obtained in 92% yield. Hydroxy acids were treated withp-toluenesulphonic acid to give corresponding unsaturated fatty acids. From the reaction of (III), 2-(1-cyclohexenyl)-10-undecenoic
acid (IV), a 3,4-unsaturated acid was obtained (yield 59%). Corrosion and lubricity tests for these products as water-based
cutting fluid additives were carried out. We have found that triethanolamine salts of 2-cyclohexenyl and 2-hydroxycyclohexyl

Meadowfoam dimer acids have been prepared in a thermal clay-catalyzed reaction. Reaction conditions have been optimized, and yields of 44% were obtained with 2% water and 6–8% of an acid-washed montmorillonite clay, based on the meadowfoam fatty acids. Purity of the distilled dimer acids was 79–89% with most of the remaining 11–22% being residual mono- and tribasic acids. Dimethyl, di-(2-ethylhexyl), and di-n-butyl meadowfoam dimer ester derivatives were also prepared. Color, viscosity, and wear-preventive characteristics of the meadowfoam dimer acids and dimer ester derivatives were compared to those of commercial dimer acids and dimer esters. The viscosity of the meadowfoam dimer acids is similar to that of Empol® 1010, which is also derived from a highly monounsaturated fatty acid source. Viscosities of the meadowfoam dimer esters were also comparable to those of commercial dimer esters. Wear prevention characteristics, as determined by the four-ball test method, of the meadowfoam dimer acids and dimer esters were similar to those of the commercial products. In one case, the di-n-butyl esters, the meadowfoam derivative showed a significantly smaller wear scar than that shown by the di-n-butyl derivative of Unidyme® 14. 相似文献

Nanocellulose (NC), due to its sustainable nature, high aspect ratio, superior mechanical strength, and availability of functionalizable OH groups, has been widely utilized as reinforcement in numerous fluids/plastics. The physico-chemical properties of NC, like surface characteristics, dimensions/aspect ratio and their concentration, significantly impact the interparticle interactions, such as the extent of hydrogen bonding, van der Waal forces, hydrophobicity, electrostatic attraction/repulsion, and cellulose entanglement, and have been found to play a critical role in regulating the overall rheological characteristics of fluids. The functionalized NC aqueous suspension exhibited unique shear thinning properties, thixotropic behavior, and quick steady-state viscosity recovery and viscoelastic properties. However, upon adding functionalized NC to other fluids, a different impact was noticed. For instance, it improved the viscosity, G′ and mechanical stability of bio-ink; the setting time and mechanical strength of cementitious fluids; increased the filtration performance and provided a unique thermo-thickening impact in case of water-based drilling-fluid; enhanced viscosity with time and heat in case of oil recovery, and so forth. Keeping in view the notable dependence of the rheology of fluids on NC additives, in the present review article, the impact of various physico-chemical properties of NC additives on the rheological behavior of NC aqueous suspension and its utility as a rheology modifier in multiple advanced fields has been explored. This review article, compared to previous studies, warrants an update on the impact of recent NC surface functionalization/blending techniques employed and NC aspect ratio on specific properties of multiple advanced fluids. 相似文献
