We report dramatic improvements (up to four times) in the generation of high-beam-quality (HBQ) output power from copper vapor lasers (CVLs) by using tailored HCl-H2-Ne buffer gas mixtures. Up to 60 W of HBQ power was obtained from a 38-mm bore-diameter CVL at a pulse repetition frequency of 12 kHz and 50 W at 22 kHz. Enhancements in the output energy of an XeCl laser of more than 50 percent have been observed by injecting 2-43 mJ of 308 nm laser radiation into the resonator 10-150 ns prior to the emergence of the final XeCl pulse. This effect is a strong function of the time delay (Deltat ) between the two lasers and is most pronounced when the injected (external) pulse precedes the XeCl laser pulse by 45 ns. For|Deltat| lsim 100 ns, the external radiation appears to be simply "seeding" the XeCl laser cavity which allows the second laser to reach threshold earlier and thereby improve its extraction efficiency. For100 lsim |Deltat| lsim 150 ns, the enhancement may to arise from the depletion of the number density of an impurity molecule which absorbs strongly at 308 nm. 相似文献

The output characteristics of a corona-preionized XeCl laser are described. Measurements in an He-based mixture up to 5 bars and in an Ne-based mixture up to 10 bars are presented. The maximum obtained output energy per unit volume is more than 9 J/l. 相似文献

Long-pulsed operation of a capacitive transfer driven XeCl laser using inductors has been demonstrated with no degradation of the laser performance. Spectral narrowing to a 0.003 Å bandwidth with an output energy of 4 mJ was also achieved using a grating and etalon combination. 相似文献

We present a multimode theory of square-bore waveguide laser resonators with one well-aligned and one tilted plane mirror. Our theoretical results for mode content, resonator loss, and power output agree reasonably well with experimental results from an RF-excited CO2 laser with a376 times 1.5 times 1.5 mm Al/Al2 O3 waveguide. The mode propagation coefficients of this structure are discussed. We model a diffraction grating as a plane mirror with a wavelength-dependent tilt, and conclude that previous single-mode theory has underestimated the severity of the line-hopping constraint on tunable waveguide CO2 laser performance. 相似文献

An X-ray preionized XeCl laser with a wide aperture of 10×10 cm2 is described. The density for preionization electrons is estimated from an X-ray energy distribution to be greater than 6×109 cm-3 under operational gas conditions. In high pressure operation at 4500 torr, sufficient preionization has led to successful discharge-breakdown at a low E /N of 6.4×10-17 V-cm2, resulting in a high electrical efficiency of 3.1% with an output energy of 17.6 J. An output energy of 50 J in an 85-ns (FWHM) optical pulse has been extracted from an active volume of about 10:1 for a pulse-forming-line (PFL) voltage of 400 kV. The effects of impedance transformation of a pulse-transmission-line (PTL) following the PFL have been investigated using two types of PTL with output impedances of 0.26 and 0.48 Ω 相似文献

The laser head and fast pulser for a high-energy, flow-compatible, X-ray preionized XeCl laser have been fabricated and tested. The pulsed power used to drive the 12*9*120 cm discharge utilizes a novel high-efficiency spiker sustainer circuit with a magnetic isolation switch. A single-pulse output energy of 19 J at 2.2% efficiency and a pulse length of 230 ns has been demonstrated, corresponding to an extracted energy density of 1.5 J/L.<> 相似文献

Picosecond pulses are produced using a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror in a laser based on an Er-Yb codoped planar waveguide amplifier. Continuous-wave mode-locking (CWML) with 9.8-ps pulses is obtained at repetition rates up to 100 MHz. With intracavity spectral filtering, saturable pulsewidths of 1 ps are achieved, and tunable picosecond pulses are obtained from 1534 to 1553 nm. Absorber characterization suggests that two-photon absorption within the saturable absorber mirror influences the CWML stability 相似文献
