Although rotating beds show promise for intensified separations, the fundamentals of their hydrodynamics are still poorly understood. In many operating conditions, pressure drop in an irrigated bed can be considerably lower than that across a dry bed. Previously published correlations don’t provide good prediction of these phenomena. In this research, a semi-empirical correlation is developed to predict the pressure drop across the rotating packed beds. The results show the agreement of predicted pressure drop with the experimental data is acceptable. This model can also predict the pressure drop unexpected phenomena of higher pressure drop in dry beds than in wet beds.  相似文献

A pore network model is built to predict pressure drop in packed beds of arbitrary-shaped particles, using a method that consists of particle packing by the rigid body technique, pore network construction by the maximal sphere algorithm, and numerical calculation of fluid flow. The pore network model is firstly validated by comparing with experiments, Ergun-type equations, and particle-resolved computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The pore network model is as accurate as the particle-resolved CFD, and is remarkably two to three orders of magnitude less computationally intensive. Then, the pore network model is used to calculate the pressure drops in the beds packed with particles of different shapes and sizes, as well as using different flow media. These calculation results prove the versatility of the pore network model. This work provides an accurate yet efficient pore network model for predicting pressure drop, which should be a powerful tool for designing packed beds.  相似文献

旋转填料床的气相压降是旋转填料床应用和设计的一项重要指标。在气液两相错流流动条件下,利用空气-水系统对错流旋转填充床的气相压降进行分段模型化和实验研究。按照错流旋转填料床气体流动的路径将气相压降分为进口压降、填料层压降、集气段旋转动能转化压降和出气段压降。推导出压降与操作工况的关联式,其计算值与实测值吻合较好。实验表明错流旋转填料床的气相总压降与气体流量、旋转床转速、液体流量有关。在高转速和小气量的条件下,气相压降随气量增大先下降后上升;其他情况随气量增大而上升。错流旋转填料床气相压降随转速上升而下降,在小气量情况下转速对气相压降有明显影响。气相压降随进液量的增大而增大,当旋转填料床在低转速时进液量对气相压降有明显影响。  相似文献

利用水-空气系统对并流旋转床的气相压降进行了研究,并与逆流旋转床气相压降进行了对比。研究结果表明:并流较逆流旋转床的气相压降低;并流旋转床的气相压降随气体流量的增大而增大,随液体流量的增大而减小,随转速的增大明显降低;而逆流旋转床的气相压降随转速的增大明显升高。利用水吸收SO2的实验对并流旋转床的传质特性进行了研究。研究结果表明:并流旋转床填料层内各点的体积传质系数随着气体流量、液体流量和转速的增大而增大;填料层半径由70mm增大至90mm时,并流旋转床的体积传质系数迅速增大,而后并流旋转床的体积传质系数随半径的增大而减小。对并流和逆流旋转床填料层内体积传质系数进行了对比。结果表明:填料层半径由70mm增大至130mm时,并流旋转床的体积传质系数较逆流时大;当半径大于130mm后,逆流旋转床的体积传质系数大于并流旋转床的体积传质系数,且随半径增大而增大。根据研究结果,提出了降低系统压降的设想,即并流与逆流旋转床串联操作。  相似文献

运用计算流体力学(CFD)与计算传热(CHT)方法,对结构化金属填充床内的流体动力学和传热特性进行了详细的模拟,以预测其流场和温度场.分析了床层结构参数和物性的变化对结构化金属填充床传热性能的影响,发现在Re较小且结构化材料和床层空隙率相同的情况下,气固相之间换热的比表面积越大,传热效果越好.进一步将模拟结果与传统颗粒填充床的压降与传热特性进行对照,从而推断结构化金属填充床具有很好的传递性能.  相似文献

The dependency of pressure drop and liquid holdup on phase velocities, geometry of the column and packing materials as well as on the physical properties have been analyzed. Our experimental data (825 data points obtained using four liquid systems and three different particles) along with those of the available literature (776 data point from five different sources) were used for the analysis. The applicability and the limitations of the literature correlations were evaluated using the available data. Based on the analysis, new correlations for the estimation of pressure drop and liquid holdup, valid for low and high interaction regimes have been developed using the available data, with a wide range of variables. 压降是衡量固定床反应器优劣的重要指标,直接影响了反应性能和综合能耗,催化剂颗粒的外形和尺寸是影响固定床反应器压降的关键因素。采用颗粒分辨计算流体力学模型,研究了工业上常用的蜂窝状催化剂颗粒上中空结构对固定床反应器压降的影响规律。首先,通过对比实验测量的催化剂床层空隙率和压降,验证了建立的颗粒分辨计算流体力学模型的合理性和准确性,其中模型计算获得的压降与实验值相差5%以内。接着,研究了蜂窝状催化剂颗粒开孔个数的影响,发现在催化剂颗粒体积和开孔体积相同的情况下,开孔个数不会显著影响催化剂床层的空隙率,但开孔个数增加会导致压降增大,这主要是由于孔径变小后增大了流体在孔内的动量损失。最后,考察了单孔柱催化剂颗粒尺寸的影响,发现可通过调变外圆柱半径、内孔半径和高度,进而大幅度改变催化剂床层空隙率和压降,当单孔柱壁面越薄时,空隙率越大,致使压降越低。研究结果可以为催化剂颗粒外形的优化设计提供强大的模型工具和一定的理论指导。  相似文献

New data on the two phase pressure drop for the concurrent upflow of air-liquid (Newtonian and non-Newtonian) mixtures through packed beds of spherical and non-spherical particles are presented. The results for single phase flows and for the air-Newtonian liquid mixtures have been used both to gauge the overall accuracy of the present experimental methods and to evaluate the validity of the predictive expressions available in the literature. The two phase pressure drop has been measured as a function of the liquid and gas flow rates, column diameter and the power law model constants. Depending upon a suitable combination of the gas and liquid fluxes and the power law index, the two phase pressure drop may be less than its value for the flow of liquid alone. A simple expression is proposed which correlates the present set of experiments (nearly 500 data points) with satisfactory levels of accuracy over the following ranges of conditions: 0.54 ≤ n ≤ 1; 0.001 ≤ ReL* ≤ 50; 3.7 ≤ ReG ≤ 177 and 0.9 ≤χ (Lockhart-Martinelli parameter) ≤ 104.  相似文献

Experimental data for air–water two-phase co-current flow in two different pipe diameters were used to test the prediction of pressure drop by a number of existing theories and correlations. Several models are shown to be useful for prediction, particularly with the stratified regimes which have proved difficult to handle in the past. It was observed in the experimental investigations that the concurrent upflow of air‐Monoethanol amine system through the packed bed gave higher pressure drop in bubble flow regime than the air‐water system. But when the flow regime changed to spray flow, air‐water system showed higher pressure drop than the other. This phenomenon was observed for the two column packing used in this study. A stationary packed bed of cohesionless particles is set up in a vertical pipe for the fundamental study of plug conveying. The effect of flow acceleration or deceleration on the pressure drop of the plug is investigated first. It is found that the pressure drop increases due to the flow acceleration and vice versa. Next, the following three kinds of experiments were made for the study of friction characteristics: 1. Friction between the plug and moving wall without air flow, 2. Friction between the plug and wall with downward air flow, 3. Friction between the plug and wall with upward air flow. The results are compared with the theory established in powder mechanics. The state of stress being of the active or passive case is discussed. Finally the problem of particles raining down from the back of the plug is studied. It is shown that the air velocity necessary to support the particles can be calculated based on a simple analysis of pressure distribution around the particles.  相似文献

Although rotating beds are good equipments for intensified separations and multiphase reactions, but the fundamentals of its hydrodynamics are still unknown. In the wide range of operating conditions, the pressure drop across an irrigated bed is significantly lower than dry bed. In this regard, an approach based on artificial intelligence, that is, artificial neural network (ANN) has been proposed for prediction of the pressure drop across the rotating packed beds (RPB). The experimental data sets used as input data (280 data points) were divided into training and testing subsets. The training data set has been used to develop the ANN model while the testing data set was used to validate the performance of the trained ANN model. The results of the predicted pressure drop values with the experimental values show a good agreement between the prediction and experimental results regarding to some statistical parameters, for example (AARD% = 4.70, MSE = 2.0 × 10?5 and R2 = 0.9994). The designed ANN model can estimate the pressure drop in the countercurrent flow rotating packed bed with unexpected phenomena for higher pressure drop in dry bed than in wet bed. Also, the designed ANN model has been able to predict the pressure drop in a wet bed with the good accuracy with experimental.  相似文献

Analysis of the radial and tangential velocities highlighted the impact of gas feed entrance effects on the peripheral gas maldistribution in the rotating packing module. Recommendations were formulated for an optimum design with the aim to reduce gas flow maldistribution in RPBs. Breakdown of the overall pressure drop in its modular components for the housing, the rotating packing module, the free inner rotational zone, and the gas disengagement showed that the dissipation in the rotating packing could be a minor contributor to the overall pressure drop which may be undesirable in terms of RPB mass transfer and reaction efficiencies. Analysis of the simulated pressure drops allowed development of CFD-based Ergun-type semi-empirical relationships in which the gas-slip and radial acceleration effects, the laminar and inertial drag effects, and the centrifugal effect were aggregated additively to recompose the pressure drops in the rotating packing module.  相似文献

The slow non-Newtonian (inelastic) flow through packed beds of mono-size spherical particles has been simulated by solving the equations of motion numerically. The inter-particle interactions have been modelled by using a simple cell model. Theoretical estimates of pressure, friction and total drag coefficients as function of the pertinent physical (l≥n≥ 0.2; 0.3 ≤ e ≤ 0.5) and kinematic parameters (0.01 ≤ '≤ 100) for a fixed value of Reynolds number {Re = 0.001) have been obtained. The theoretical predictions reported herein have been validated using the suitable experimental results available in the literature, and the importance of including the zero shear viscosity in analyses for the creeping flow problems is convincingly demonstrated.  相似文献

在两级逆流式旋转填充床(TSCC-RPB)的基础上,采用简单结构的整体泡沫镍填料替代其相对复杂的动静环结构填料,从而构建新型两级整体泡沫镍填料旋转填充床(TSNF-RPB)。采用空气-水体系,研究了TSNF-RPB的压降特性,并以甲醇-水为工作体系,对TSNF-RPB进行了连续精馏实验研究。结果表明:虽然TSNF-RPB的湿床压降比TSCC-RPB高出了20%—30%,但TSNF-RPB的分离效率提高了20%,且TSNF-RPB结构简单、安装方便,更利于工业推广应用。  相似文献

Extensional viscosity, an important processing parameter, can control the processing properties of polymeric products in industrial processes, such as fiber spinning, blow molding, and film casting. In this article, based on the equivalent thought, the contraction flow in the circular channel was studied without using the power laws, and the new equations of the extensional strain rate and the extensional viscosity based on entry pressure drop were proposed. The extensional viscosity of two high‐density polyethylene melts was predicted using the proposed equations, the Cogswell's equations, the Binding's equations, and the Gibson's equations. Moreover, this prediction was compared with the experimental data of the extensional viscosity.
