In the present study, stable homogeneous graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) nanofluids were prepared without any surfactant by high-power ultrasonic (probe) dispersion of GNPs in distilled water. The concentrations of nanofluids were maintained at 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1 wt.% for three different specific surface areas of 300, 500, and 750 m2/g. Transmission electron microscopy image shows that the suspensions are homogeneous and most of the materials have been well dispersed. The stability of nanofluid was investigated using a UV-visible spectrophotometer in a time span of 600 h, and zeta potential after dispersion had been investigated to elucidate its role on dispersion characteristics. The rheological properties of GNP nanofluids approach Newtonian and non-Newtonian behaviors where viscosity decreases linearly with the rise of temperature. The thermal conductivity results show that the dispersed nanoparticles can always enhance the thermal conductivity of the base fluid, and the highest enhancement was obtained to be 27.64% in the concentration of 0.1 wt.% of GNPs with a specific surface area of 750 m2/g. Electrical conductivity of the GNP nanofluids shows a significant enhancement by dispersion of GNPs in distilled water. This novel type of nanofluids shows outstanding potential for replacements as advanced heat transfer fluids in medium temperature applications including solar collectors and heat exchanger systems.  相似文献

Composites of 8 mol.% yttria-stabilized zirconia (8YSZ) with graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) have been pointed as alternative interconnectors in SOFC due to their mixed ionic-electronic conduction. Here we show that GNP addition provides rising crack-resistance behavior, with long crack toughness up to 78% higher than that of 8YSZ, also improving its thermal conductivity (up to 6 times for the in-plane direction). Toughness versus crack length is measured for 7 and 11 vol.% of GNP using single edge V-notched beam technique and ultrashort pulsed laser notching; and thermal behavior is analyzed by the laser flash method. Materials also have highly anisotropic coefficient of thermal expansion. These properties contribute to enhance their performance under the harsh operating conditions of SOFC, as thermal residual stresses could be reduced while significantly improving the system mechanical stability. Moreover, the heat transfer may be enhanced especially along the interface direction which would increase the system efficiency.  相似文献

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely used in ceramic-matrix composites (CMC) as a filler. An individual carbon nanotube exhibits extremely high thermal conductivity, however, the influence of CNTs on the thermal conductivity of CMCs is moderate. In contrast, even a small quantity of CNTs significantly increases the electrical conductivity of CMCs. The present paper studies this contradictory influence for ZrO2-CNTs composites with 3, 5, 10 and 20 vol% multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). Their thermal and electrical conductivity was studied by the laser flash method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The analysis reveals that the moderate influence of MWCNTs on the thermal conductivity of composites originates from the similar thermal conductivity of MWCNTs in a bundle and zirconia. On the other hand, the substantial difference in the electrical conductivity of MWCNTs and zirconia leads to an exponential increase in the electrical conductivity of the ZrO2-CNTs composite even with small additions of nanotubes.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity (κ) of AlN (2.9 wt.% of Y2O3) is studied as a function of the addition of multilayer graphene (from 0 to 10 vol.%). The κ values of these composites, fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS), are independently analyzed for the two characteristic directions defined by the GNPs orientation within the ceramic matrix; that is to say, perpendicular and parallel to the SPS pressing axis. Conversely to other ceramic/graphene systems, AlN composites experience a reduction of κ with the graphene addition for both orientations; actually the decrease of κ for the in-plane graphene orientation results rather unusual. This behavior is conveniently reproduced when an interface thermal resistance is introduced in effective media thermal conductivity models. Also remarkable is the change in the electrical properties of AlN becoming an electrical conductor (200 S m−1) for graphene contents above 5 vol.%.  相似文献

Aluminum nitride (AlN) is the material of choice for high power modulus substrates. The thermal and electrical conductions can be also fostered by adding CaF2 and carbon particles, respectively. Moreover, additives (Y2O3) have to be used as sintering aids to achieve full densification. In this paper, we report on tuning the electrical conduction within AlN-based composites developed by incorporating graphene nanoplatelets GNP, obtained from graphite exfoliation, in the AlN-based ceramics comprising Y2O3 and CaF2. These composites were prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering through a new configuration called “multiple preparation” with a view to fabricating three samples per cycle, revealing time and energy savings. An increase of the electrical conductivity by 10 orders of magnitude was obtained for these composites compared to the commercial AlN by adjusting the amount of GNP and the way of exfoliation. This work promotes the development of novel multifunctional ceramic composites for Power Electronics applications.  相似文献

Boron carbide/graphene platelet (B4C/GPLs) composites have been prepared with a different weight percent of GPLs as sintering additive and reinforcing phase, hot pressed at 2100 °C in argon. The influence of the GPLs addition on fracture toughness (KIC) and electrical conductivity was investigated. Single Edge V-Notched Beam (SEVNB) method was used for fracture toughness measurements and the four-point Van der Pauw method for electrical conductivity measurements. With increasing amount of GPLs additives, the fracture toughness increased due to the activated toughening mechanisms in the form of crack deflection, crack bridging, crack branching and graphene sheet pull-out. The highest fracture toughness of 4.48 MPa.m1/2 was achieved at 10 wt.% of GPLs addition, which was ∼50% higher than the KIC value of the reference material. The electrical conductivity increased with GPLs addition and reached the maximum value at 8 wt.% of GPLs, 1.526 × 103 S/m in the perpendicular and 8.72 × 102 S/m in the parallel direction to the hot press direction, respectively.  相似文献

Graphene platelets (GPLs) containing aluminum nitride (AlN) composites were produced by using both pressureless sintering and spark plasma sintering (SPS). Poor densifications were obtained when composites were pressureless sintered whereas highly dense composites were successfully produced by using SPS. In addition, the applied uniaxial load in the SPS resulted in the orientation of GPLs in the microstructure of composites, indicating that composites would have anisotropic properties. All the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties in the in-plane direction were better than the through-plane direction. Fracture toughness of composites with the addition of 1 wt% GPLs were increased more than 30% compared to AlN matrix. Increased anisotropic effect with increasing amount of GPLs led to even larger differences on the thermal conductivities in through-plane and in-plane directions. AlN also became an electrically conducting material after ∼1 wt% GPLs addition in both through-plane and in-plane directions.  相似文献

We report for the first time the preparation of highly stable graphene (GE)-based nanofluids with ionic liquid as base fluids (ionic liquid-based nanofluids (Ionanofluids)) without any surfactant and the subsequent investigations on their thermal conductivity, specific heat, and viscosity. The microstructure of the GE and MWCNTs are observed by transmission electron microscope. Thermal conductivity (TC), specific heat, and viscosity of these Ionanofluids were measured for different weight fractions and at varying temperatures, demonstrating that the Ionanofluids exhibit considerably higher TC and lower viscosity than that of their base fluids without significant specific heat decrease. An enhancement in TC by about 15.5% and 18.6% has been achieved at 25 °C and 65 °C respectively for the GE-based nanofluid at mass fraction of as low as 0.06%, which is larger than that of the MWCNT-dispersed nanofluid at the same loading. When the temperature rises, the TC and specific heat of the Ionanofluid increase clearly, while the viscosity decreases sharply. Moreover, the viscosity of the prepared Ionanofluids is lower than that of the base fluid. All these advantages of this new kind of Ionanofluid make it an ideal fluid for heat transfer and thermal storage.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) flakes were assembled into a thin film that was subsequently exposed to UV light. It was found that pristine hydrophilic and insulating GO films present a poorer wettability together with a decrease of their surface resistivity under UV irradiation. It was observed that the pristine hydrophilic and insulating properties can be restored after few hours from irradiation. Using infrared spectroscopy and micro-Raman spectroscopy, we study the relationship between surface chemistry and structural distortion of GO films before and after UV irradiation. The obtained results open a solvent free as well as easy route for the integration of GO based materials into optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

With the miniaturization and integration of electronic devices heat conduction becomes a serious problem. Graphene films catch research's attention because of its excellent thermal performance and graphene oxide (GO) has been used as the most common precursor to prepare graphene films. But mostly film fabricated from GO is thinner than 30 μm and much thicker films are required to meet certain requirements. Also taking GO as raw material has many disadvantages such as the introduction of massive concentrated sulfuric acid and metal ions, huge weight loss in heat treatment and so on. Herein, we propose a new strategy to prepare graphene nanosheet films (GNFs) with a thickness of 100 μm by vacuum filtration of expand graphite through weak oxidation (WEG). Unlike common strategy, WEG without any metal ions introduced instead of GO is chosen as our raw material. The addition of nonionic surfactant and the employment of microfluidization can stabilize WEG dispersion. After graphitization at 2800 °C WEGF is transferred to GNF. The obtained 100 μm-thick film possesses a decent in-plane thermal conductivity (TC) of 760 W/mk and electrical conductivity (EC) of 5.2×105 S/m. Thick films with high TC can guarantee passing more heat flux and fill in larger gaps inside devices.  相似文献

Graphene nanosheet (GNS)/aluminum nitride (AlN) composites were prepared by hot-pressing and effects of GNSs on their microstructural, mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties were investigated. At 1.49 vol% GNSs content, the fracture toughness (5.09 MPa m1/2) and flexural strength (441 MPa) of the composite were significantly increased by 30.17% and 17.28%, respectively, compared to monolithic AlN. The electrical conductivity of the composites was effectively enhanced with the addition of GNSs, and showed a typical percolation behavior with a low percolation threshold of 2.50±0.4 vol%. The thermal conductivity of the composites decreased with the addition of GNSs.  相似文献

A series of woven fabric laminar composite plates and narrow strips were fabricated from a variety of pitch-based pristine and bromine intercalated graphite fibers in an attempt to determine the influence of the weave on the electrical and thermal conduction. It was found generally that these materials can be treated as if they are homogeneous plates. The rule of mixtures describes the resistivity of the composite fairly well if it is realized that only the component of the fibers normal to the equipotential surface will conduct current. When the composite is narrow with respect to the fiber weave, however, there is a marked angular dependence of the resistance which was well modeled by assuming that the current follows only along the fibers (and not across them in a transverse direction), and that the contact resistance among the fibers in the composite is negligible. The thermal conductivity of composites made from less conductive fibers more closely followed the rule of mixtures than that of the high conductivity fibers, though this is thought to be an artifact of the measurement technique. Electrical and thermal anisotropy could be induced in a particular region of the structure by weaving together high and low conductivity fibers in different directions, though this must be done throughout all of the layers of the structure as interlaminar conduction precludes having only the top layer carry the anisotropy. The anisotropy in the thermal conductivity is considerably less than either that predicted by the rule of mixtures or the electrical resistivity.  相似文献

Thermal conductivity of various porous thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) used at elevated temperatures for gas turbines has been evaluated using the proposed six-phase model. These TBCs rely on microstructural properties and yield different types of porosities. This paper studies the thermal conductivity of TBCs based on microstructural features to evaluate the effect of different types of porosities on thermal conductivity. The first part of this paper investigates the microstructural characterization of various TBCs using image analysis (IA) technique. The second part of this paper evaluates the thermal conductivity using the image analysis. The volumetric fraction of porosities along with their orientation, shape and morphology, shows a considerable impact on the overall thermal conductivity of TBCs. The proposed six-phase model can predict thermal conductivity of porous TBCs with a good agreement with the measured values. The model results can help to better understand the effect of microstructural changes on thermal conductivity and can provide useful guide to fabricate TBCs with low thermal conductivity.  相似文献

Thermal conductivity of defective graphene nanoribbons doped with nitrogen for different distributions around the defect edge at nanoscale is investigated using the reverse non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (RNEMD) method, which explores ways to improve thermal management. In addition, thermal conductivity of graphene nanoribbons with both defects and nearby nitrogen doping is investigated in comparison to that of nanoribbons with defects alone. The simulation results are analyzed from three perspectives: phonon match, concentration of N doping, and distribution of N doping. This approach reveals that a coupling effect is the cause of the observed results. Nitrogen doped graphene nanoribbons (both perfect and defective variants) perform better with thermal management than do graphene nanoribbons with defects alone, which is of considerable interest. Based on these investigations, a guide for graphene-interconnected circuits design is implied.  相似文献

One of disadvantages of polymer composites is poor electrical and thermal conductivity. As a first step in this direction, graphene‐modified polypropylene polymer is being developed to improve its electrical and thermal conductivity. Two techniques were investigated: surface coating and extrusion. In the case of coating technique, the percolation threshold was found to be 0.5 wt % of graphene and electrical conductivity of polypropylene increased around 13 log cycles. Coating technique breaks the agglomerations due to magnetic stirring followed by sonication and gives homogeneous graphene‐coated polypropylene pellets. When polymer melts under compression molding, the graphene platelets network formed on the surface of polypropylene pellets as well as through‐the‐thickness of the molded disk, which provide continuous network of graphene. However, in extrusion technique, graphene segregated and did not disperse properly in polypropylene. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2018 , 135, 45833.  相似文献

To enhance the thermal conductivity of Si3N4, a polydopamine (PDA) coating was creatively introduced into ceramics sintered with different additive contents through a two-step sintering process consisting of a first treatment at 1500 °C for 8 h followed by 12 h at 1900 °C under 1 MPa nitrogen pressure. After the first-step sintering, the PDA-coated sample exhibited a higher elimination effect of the liquid phase and an increase in the N/O ratio, which allowed the additives to directly interact with the Si3N4 grains, resulting in a microstructure with more and larger rod-shaped grains. After the second-step sintering, the densified samples of the PDA-coating attained slightly coarser rod-shaped grains, lower O content, higher N/O ratio and peak intensity (XRD) of the Y2Si3O3N4 phase, thicker grain boundary film, and secondary phases mainly residing in multigrain junctions. Consequently, the thermal conductivity of all the PDA-coated samples typically showed a 10–12% increment in comparison to the PDA-free samples for each additive content.  相似文献

Nitrogen-doped carbon particles were produced using the hydrothermal carbonization of a nitrogen-containing carbohydrate, namely glucosamine, under mild temperature conditions (180 °C) followed by further calcination under a stream of inert gas at 750 °C. The resulting materials contain significant amounts of nitrogen doping within their structure, mainly as quaternary N involved in an aromatized/graphitized carbon structure according to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. This nitrogen-doped material was dispersed with nanolatexes having a high affinity for carbon. The resulting hybrid dispersions could be conveniently cast into dense and stable films for thermal and electrical conductivity measurements. The conductivities were commensurate with technical carbon nanotube latex-based films. A morphological analysis of the dispersing mechanism suggests that the potential for high performance materials realized in this contribution is very competitive, but still far from being fully exploited.  相似文献

ZrC-ZrB2-SiC composites were prepared by arc-melting in Ar atmosphere using ZrC, ZrB2 and SiC as starting materials. The ternary eutectic composition of 20ZrC-30ZrB2-50SiC (mol%) was first identified. SiC about 7?μm in length and 500?nm in diameter, ZrC about 4 μm in length and 1 μm in diameter, in rod-like microstructure, were uniformly dispersed in ZrB2 matrix of eutectic composite. The eutectic temperature of ZrC-ZrB2-SiC composite was approximately 2550?K. The Vickers Hardness and fracture toughness of eutectic composite was 23?GPa and 6.2?MPa?m1/2, respectively. The electrical conductivity decreased from 7.2?×?107 to 1.75?×?106?S?m?1 with the temperature increasing from 287 to 800?K. The thermal conductivity decreased from 85 to 61?W?K?1?m?1 with increasing temperature from 287 to 973?K.  相似文献

Spinel-type magnetite-based oxides, possessing relatively high electrical conductivity, are considered as promising consumable anode materials for high temperature pyroelectrolysis, a breakthrough low-CO2 steel technology to overcome the environmental impact of classical extractive metallurgy. The present work was focused on the analysis of phase stability, thermal expansion and high-temperature electrical conductivity in (Fe,Mg,Al)3O4 system under oxidizing and mildly reducing conditions. Metastable, nearly single-phase at room temperature (Fe,Mg,Al)3O4 ceramics was obtained by sintering at 1753–1773 K for 10 h in argon atmosphere. Thermal expansion and redox induced dimensional changes were studied on heating, using TG, XRD and dilatometry. The results revealed that magnesium improves the tolerance against oxidative decomposition and minimizes unfavorable dimensional changes in ceramic samples upon thermal cycling. Co-substitution of iron with aluminium and magnesium was proved to be a promising strategy for improvement of refractoriness and phase stability of Fe3O4-based spinels at elevated temperatures, without significant reduction in the electrical conductivity.  相似文献

The yttrium heavily doped La2Zr2O7 solid solutions coatings, with a Y to La molar ratio of 1:1, have been successfully prepared by air plasma spraying technique. The evolution of phase composition, phase structure and thermal conductivity of such coatings with annealing at 1300?°C has been investigated. The results show that, a single pyrochlore structure can be retained for coating after annealing up to 48?h, beyond which the fluorite phase begins to precipitate out. By comparing thermal conductivities to those undoped counterparts at a similar porosity level, we find a considerably flat thermal conductivity versus temperature (k-T) curve, suggesting the existence of a strong phonon scattering source, which is inferred as rattlers. In addition, after the segmentation of the fluorite phase, the thermal conductivity of corresponding coatings rises considerably, indicating that the fluorite phase has a higher thermal conductivity than that of pyrochlore phase. Moreover, while the as-sprayed coatings show a clear indication of radiative thermal conduction beyond 1000?°C, the thermal conductivity of annealed coatings do not show such an uprising trend after 1000?°C, suggesting that the radiative thermal conduction has been greatly suppressed. The reason is proposed as the formation of local dipoles due to local enrichment of certain elements influences the propagation of electromagnetic waves and thus suppresses the radiative thermal conduction.  相似文献
