Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) represent a new class of hybrid organic‐inorganic supramolecular materials comprised of ordered networks formed from organic electron donor linkers and metal cations. They can exhibit extremely high surface areas, as well as tunable pore size and functionality, and can act as hosts for a variety of guest molecules. Since their discovery, MOFs have enjoyed extensive exploration, with applications ranging from gas storage to drug delivery to sensing. This review covers advances in the MOF field from the past three years, focusing on applications, including gas separation, catalysis, drug delivery, optical and electronic applications, and sensing. We also summarize recent work on methods for MOF synthesis and computational modeling.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have drawn tremendous attention because of their abundant diversity in structure and composition. Recently, there has been growing research interest in deriving advanced nanomaterials with complex architectures and tailored chemical compositions from MOF‐based precursors for electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Here, a comprehensive overview of the synthesis and energy‐related applications of complex nanostructures derived from MOF‐based precursors is provided. After a brief summary of synthetic methods of MOF‐based templates and their conversion to desirable nanostructures, delicate designs and preparation of complex architectures from MOFs or their composites are described in detail, including porous structures, single‐shelled hollow structures, and multishelled hollow structures, as well as other unusual complex structures. Afterward, their applications are discussed as electrode materials or catalysts for lithium‐ion batteries, hybrid supercapacitors, water‐splitting devices, and fuel cells. Lastly, the research challenges and possible development directions of complex nanostructures derived from MOF‐based‐templates for electrochemical energy storage and conversion applications are outlined.  相似文献

Covalent organic frameworks (COF) or metal–organic frameworks have attracted significant attention for various applications due to their intriguing tunable micro/mesopores and composition/functionality control. Herein, a coordination‐induced interlinked hybrid of imine‐based covalent organic frameworks and Mn‐based metal–organic frameworks (COF/Mn‐MOF) based on the Mn? N bond is reported. The effective molecular‐level coordination‐induced compositing of COF and MOF endows the hybrid with unique flower‐like microsphere morphology and superior lithium‐storage performances that originate from activated Mn centers and the aromatic benzene ring. In addition, hollow or core–shell MnS trapped in N and S codoped carbon (MnS@NS‐C‐g and MnS@NS‐C‐l) are also derived from the COF/Mn‐MOF hybrid and they exhibit good lithium‐storage properties. The design strategy of COF–MOF hybrid can shed light on the promising hybridization on porous organic framework composites with molecular‐level structural adjustment, nano/microsized morphology design, and property optimization.  相似文献

Metal–organic framework (MOF)–polymer mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs) have shown great potential and superior performance in gas separations. However, their sensing application has not been fully established yet. Herein, a rare example of using flexible MOF‐based MMMs as a fluorescent turn‐on sensor for the detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is reported. These MOF‐based MMMs are readily prepared by mixing a highly stable aluminum‐based nano‐MOF (Al‐MIL‐53‐NO2) into poly(vinylidene fluoride) with high loadings up to 70%. Unlike the intrinsic fragility and poor processability of pure‐MOF membranes, these MMMs exhibit desirable flexibility and processability that are more suitable for practical sensing applications. The uniform distribution of Al‐MIL‐53‐NO2 particles combined with the permanent pores of MOFs enable these MMMs to show good water permeation flux and consequently have a full contact between the analyte and MOFs. The developed MMM sensor (70% MOF loading) thus shows a highly remarkable detection selectivity and sensitivity for H2S with an exceptionally low detection limit around 92.31 × 10?9m , three orders of magnitude lower than the reported powder‐form MOFs. This work demonstrates that it is feasible to develop flexible luminescent MOF‐based MMMs as a novel platform for chemical sensing applications.  相似文献

Although chemoselective hydrogenation of unsaturated aldehydes is the major route to highly valuable industrially demanded unsaturated alcohols, it is still challenging, as the production of saturated aldehydes is more favorable over unsaturated alcohols from the view of thermodynamics. By combining the structural features of porous nanowires (NWs) and metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs), a unique class of porous Pt‐Ni NWs in situ encapsuled by MOFs (Pt‐Ni NWs@Ni/Fex‐MOFs) is designed to enhance the unsaturated alcohols selectivity in the cinnamaldehyde (CAL) hydrogenation. A detailed catalytic study shows that the porous Pt‐Ni NWs@Ni/Fex‐MOFs exhibit volcano‐type activity and selectivity in CAL hydrogenation as a function of Fe content. The optimized porous PtNi2.20 NWs@Ni/Fe4‐MOF is highly active and selective with 99.5% CAL conversion and 83.3% cinnamyl alcohol selectivity due to the confinement effect, appropriate thickness of MOF and its optimized electronic structure, and excellent durability with negligible activity and selectivity loss after five runs.  相似文献

The site‐selective reaction of a multifunctional linear molecule requires a suitable catalyst possessing both uniform narrow channel to limit the molecule rotation and a designed active site in the channel. Recently, nanoparticles (NPs) were incorporated in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with the tailorable porosity and ordered nanochannel, which makes these materials (NPs/MOFs) highly promising candidates as catalytic nanoreactors in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. Inspired by a “Gondola” sailing in narrow “Venetian Canal” without sufficient space for a U‐turn, a simple heterogeneous catalyst based on NPs/MOFs is developed that exhibits site‐selectivity for the oxidation of diols by restricting the random rotation of the molecule (the “Gondola”) in the limited space of the MOF channel (the narrow “Venetian Canal”), thereby protecting the middle functional group via steric hindrance. This strategy is not limited to the oxidation of diols, but can be extended to the site‐selective reaction of many similar multifunctional linear molecules, such as the reduction of alkadienes.  相似文献

An air‐stable transparent conductive film with “quasi‐freestanding” graphene supported on horizontal single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) arrays is fabricated. The sheet resistance of graphene films stacked via layer‐by‐layer transfer (LBL) on quartz, and modified by 1‐Pyrenebutyric acid N‐hydroxysuccinimide ester (PBASE), is reduced from 273 Ω/sq to about 76 Ω/sq. The electrical properties are stable to heat treatment (up to 200 ºC) and ambient exposure. Organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) constructed of this carbon anode (T ≈ 89.13% at 550 nm) exhibit ≈88% power efficiency of OLEDs fabricated on an ITO anode (low turn on voltage ≈3.1 eV, high luminance up to ≈29 490 cd/m2, current efficiency ≈14.7 cd/A). Most importantly, the entire graphene‐on‐SWCNT hybrid electrodes can be transferred onto plastic (PET) forming a highly‐flexible OLED device, which continues to function without degradation in performance at bending angles >60°.  相似文献

Functional nanoparticles encapsulated within metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) as an emerging class of composite materials attract increasing attention owing to their enhanced or even novel properties caused by the synergistic effect between the two functional materials. However, there is still no ideal composite structure as platform to systematically analyze and evaluate the relation between the enhanced catalytic performance of composites and the structure of MOF shells. In this work, taking RhCoNi ternary alloy nanoflowers, for example, first the RhCoNi@MOF composite catalysts sheathed with different structured MOFs via a facile self‐sacrificing template process are successfully fabricated. The structure type of MOF shells is easily adjustable by using different organic molecules as etchant and coordination reagent (e.g., 2,5‐dihydroxyterephthalic acid or 2‐methylimidazole), which can dissolve out the Co or Ni element in the alloy template in a targeted manner, thereby producing ZIF‐67(Co) or MOF‐74(Ni) shells accordingly. With the difference between the two MOF shells in the aperture sizes, the as‐prepared two RhCoNi@MOF composites preform distinct size selectivity during the alkene hydrogenation. This work would help us to get more comprehensive understanding of the intrinsic role of MOFs behind the enhanced catalytic performance of nanoparticle@MOF composites.  相似文献

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs), as an original kind of organic–inorganic porous material, are constructed with metal centers and organic linkers via a coordination complexation reaction. Among uncountable MOF materials, iron‐containing metal organic frameworks (Fe‐MOFs) have excellent potential in practical applications owing to their many fascinating properties, such as diverse structure types, low toxicity, preferable stability, and tailored functionality. Here, recent research progresses of Fe‐MOFs in attractive features, synthesis, and multifunctional applications are described. Fe‐MOFs with porosity and tailored functionality are discussed according to the design of building blocks. Four types of synthetic methods including solvothermal, hydrothermal, microwave, and dry gel conversion synthesis are illustrated. Finally, the applications of Fe‐MOFs in Li‐ion batteries, sensors, gas storage, separation in gas and liquid phases, and catalysis are elucidated, focusing on the mechanism. The aim is to provide prospects for extending Fe‐MOFs in more practical applications.  相似文献

Over the past two decades, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), a type of porous material, have aroused great interest as precursors or templates for the derivation of metal oxides and composites for the next generation of electrochemical energy storage applications owing to their high specific surface areas, controllable structures, and adjustable pore sizes. The electrode materials, which affect the performance in practical applications, are pivotal components of batteries and supercapacitors. Metal oxide composites derived from metal–organic frameworks possessing high reversible capacity and superior rate and cycle performance are excellent electrode materials. In this Review, potential applications for MOF‐derived metal oxide composites for lithium‐ion batteries, sodium‐ion batteries, lithium–oxygen batteries, and supercapacitors are studied and summarized. Finally, the challenges and opportunities for future research on MOF‐derived metal oxide composites are proposed on the basis of academic knowledge from the reported literature as well as from experimental experience.  相似文献

Photoreduction of CO2 into reusable carbon forms is considered as a promising approach to address the crisis of energy from fossil fuels and reduce excessive CO2 emission. Recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted much attention as CO2 photoreduction‐related catalysts, owing to their unique electronic band structures, excellent CO2 adsorption capacities, and tailorable light‐absorption abilities. Recent advances on the design, synthesis, and CO2 reduction applications of MOF‐based photocatalysts are discussed here, beginning with the introduction of the characteristics of high‐efficiency photocatalysts and structural advantages of MOFs. The roles of MOFs in CO2 photoreduction systems as photocatalysts, photocatalytic hosts, and cocatalysts are analyzed. Detailed discussions focus on two constituents of pure MOFs (metal clusters such as Ti–O, Zr–O, and Fe–O clusters and functional organic linkers such as amino‐modified, photosensitizer‐functionalized, and electron‐rich conjugated linkers) and three types of MOF‐based composites (metal–MOF, semiconductor–MOF, and photosensitizer–MOF composites). The constituents, CO2 adsorption capacities, absorption edges, and photocatalytic activities of these photocatalysts are highlighted to provide fundamental guidance to rational design of efficient MOF‐based photocatalyst materials for CO2 reduction. A perspective of future research directions, critical challenges to be met, and potential solutions in this research field concludes the discussion.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have become a research hotspot since they have been explored as convenient precursors for preparing various multifunctional nanomaterials. However, the preparation of MOF networks with controllable flake morphology in large scale is not realized yet. Herein, a self‐template strategy is developed to prepare MOF networks. In this work, layered double‐metal hydroxide (LDH) and other layered metal hydroxides are used not only as a scaffold but also as a self‐sacrificed metal source. After capturing the abundant metal cations identically from the LDH by the organic linkers, MOF networks are in situ formed. It is interesting that the MOF network‐derived carbon materials retain the flake morphology and exhibit a unique honeycomb‐like macroporous structure due to the confined shrinkage of the polyhedral facets. The overall properties of the carbon networks are adjustable according to the tailored metal compositions in LDH and the derived MOFs, which are desirable for target‐oriented applications as exemplified by the electrochemical application in supercapacitors.  相似文献

Synthetic nano/micro/millimeter‐sized machines that harvest energy from the surrounding environment and then convert it to motion have had a significant impact on many research areas such as biology (sensing, imaging, and therapy) and environmental applications. Autonomous motion is a key element of these devices. A high surface area is preferable as it leads to increased propellant or cargo‐loading capability. Integrating highly ordered and porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with self‐propelled machines is demonstrated to have a significant impact on the field of nano/micro/millimeter‐sized devices for a wide range of applications. MOFs have shown great potential in many research fields due to their tailorable pore size. These fields include energy storage and conversion; catalysis, biomedical application (e.g., drug delivery, imaging, and cancer therapy), and environmental remediation. The marriage of motors and MOFs may provide opportunities for many new applications for synthetic nano/micro/millimeter‐sized machines. Herein, MOF‐based micro‐ and nanomachines are reviewed with a focus on the specific properties of MOFs.  相似文献

Hexagonal nickel‐organic framework (Ni‐MOF) [Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, 1,3,5‐benzenetricarboxylic acid, 4‐4′‐bipyridine] is fabricated through a one‐step solvothermal method. The {001} crystal plane is exposed to the largest hexagonal surface, which is an ideal structure for electron transport and ion diffusion. Compared with the surrounding rectangular crystal surface, the ion diffusion length through the {001} crystal plane is the shortest. In addition, the cross‐linked porous mesh structures growing on the {001} crystal plane strengthen the mixing with conductive carbon, inducing preferable conductivity, as well as increasing the area of ion contact and the number of active sites. These advantages enable the hexagonal Ni‐MOF to exhibit excellent electrochemical performance as supercapacitor electrode materials. In a three‐electrode cell, specific capacitance of hexagonal Ni‐MOF in the 3.0 m KOH electrolyte is 977.04 F g?1 and remains at the initial value of 92.34% after 5,000 cycles. When the hexagonal Ni‐MOF and activated carbon are assembled into aqueous devices, the electrochemical performance remains effective.  相似文献

Discovering materials that exhibit zero linear compressibility (ZLC) behavior under hydrostatic pressure is extremely difficult. To date, only a handful of ZLC materials have been found, and almost all of them are ultrahard materials with densified structures. Here, to explore ZLC in nondense materials, a structural model analogous to the structure of the “Lu‐Ban stool,” a product of traditional Chinese woodworking invented 2500 years ago, is proposed. The application of this model to borates leads to the discovery of ZLC in AEB2O4 (AE = Ca and Sr) with the unique “Lu‐Ban stool”‐like structure, which can obtain a subtle mechanical balance between pressure‐induced expansion and contraction effects. Coupled with the very wide ultraviolet transparent windows, the ZLC behavior of AEB2O4 may result in some unique but important applications. The applications of the “Lu‐Ban stool” model open a new route for pursuing ZLC materials in nondense structural systems.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are very promising self‐sacrificing templates for the large‐scale fabrication of new functional materials owing to their versatile functionalities and tunable porosities. Most conventional metal oxide electrodes derived from MOFs are limited by the low abundance of incorporated metal elements. This study reports a new strategy for the synthesis of multicomponent active metal oxides by the pyrolysis of polymetallic MOF precursors. A hollow N‐doped carbon‐coated ZnO/ZnCo2O4/CuCo2O4 nanohybrid is prepared by the thermal annealing of a polymetallic MOF with ammonium bicarbonate as a pore‐forming agent. This is the first report on the rational design and preparation of a hybrid composed of three active metal oxide components originating from MOF precursors. Interestingly, as a lithium‐ion battery anode, the developed electrode delivers a reversible capacity of 1742 mAh g?1 after 500 cycles at a current density of 0.3 mA g?1. Furthermore, the material shows large storage capacities (1009 and 667 mAh g?1), even at high current flow (3 and 10 A g?1). The remarkable high‐rate capability and outstanding long‐life cycling stability of the multidoped metal oxide benefits from the carbon‐coated integrated nanostructure with a hollow interior and the three active metal oxide components.  相似文献

During the last decade, the synthesis and application of metal–organic framework (MOF) nanosheets has received growing interest, showing unique performances for different technological applications. Despite the potential of this type of nanolamellar materials, the synthetic routes developed so far are restricted to MOFs possessing layered structures, limiting further development in this field. Here, a bottom‐up surfactant‐assisted synthetic approach is presented for the fabrication of nanosheets of various nonlayered MOFs, broadening the scope of MOF nanosheets application. Surfactant‐assisted preorganization of the metallic precursor prior to MOF synthesis enables the manufacture of nonlayered Al‐containing MOF lamellae. These MOF nanosheets are shown to exhibit a superior performance over other crystal morphologies for both chemical sensing and gas separation. As revealed by electron microscopy and diffraction, this superior performance arises from the shorter diffusion pathway in the MOF nanosheets, whose 1D channels are oriented along the shortest particle dimension.  相似文献

Owing to the progressive development of metal–organic‐frameworks (MOFs) synthetic processes and considerable potential applications in last decade, integrating biomolecules into MOFs has recently gain considerable attention. Biomolecules, including lipids, oligopeptides, nucleic acids, and proteins have been readily incorporated into MOF systems via versatile formulation methods. The formed biomolecule‐MOF hybrid structures have shown promising prospects in various fields, such as antitumor treatment, gene delivery, biomolecular sensing, and nanomotor device. By optimizing biomolecule integration methods while overcoming existing challenges, biomolecule‐integrated MOF platforms are very promising to generate more practical applications.  相似文献

Hollow materials derived from metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), by virtue of their controllable configuration, composition, porosity, and specific surface area, have shown fascinating physicochemical properties and widespread applications, especially in electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Here, the recent advances in the controllable synthesis are discussed, mainly focusing on the conversion mechanisms from MOFs to hollow‐structured materials. The synthetic strategies of MOF‐derived hollow‐structured materials are broadly sorted into two categories: the controllable synthesis of hollow MOFs and subsequent pyrolysis into functional materials, and the controllable conversion of solid MOFs with predesigned composition and morphology into hollow structures. Based on the formation processes of hollow MOFs and the conversion processes of solid MOFs, the synthetic strategies are further conceptually grouped into six categories: template‐mediated assembly, stepped dissolution–regrowth, selective chemical etching, interfacial ion exchange, heterogeneous contraction, and self‐catalytic pyrolysis. By analyzing and discussing 14 types of reaction processes in detail, a systematic mechanism of conversion from MOFs to hollow‐structured materials is exhibited. Afterward, the applications of these hollow structures as electrode materials for lithium‐ion batteries, hybrid supercapacitors, and electrocatalysis are presented. Finally, an outlook on the emergent challenges and future developments in terms of their controllable fabrications and electrochemical applications is further discussed.  相似文献
