Most state‐of‐the‐art electronic wearable sensors are powered by batteries that require regular charging and eventual replacement, which would cause environmental issues and complex management problems. Here, a device concept is reported that can break this paradigm in ambient moisture monitoring—a new class of simple sensors themselves can generate moisture‐dependent voltage that can be used to determine the ambient humidity level directly. It is demonstrated that a moisture‐driven electrical generator, based on the diffusive flow of water in titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanowire networks, can yield an output power density of up to 4 µW cm?2 when exposed to a highly moist environment. This performance is two orders of magnitude better than that reported for carbon‐black generators. The output voltage is strongly dependent on humidity of ambient environment. As a big breakthrough, this new type of device is successfully used as self‐powered wearable human‐breathing monitors and touch pads, which is not achievable by any existing moisture‐induced‐electricity technology. The availability of high‐output self‐powered electrical generators will facilitate the design and application of a wide range of new innovative flexible electronic devices.  相似文献

Metamaterial (MM) sensors and devices, usually consisting of artificially structured composite materials with engineered responses that are mainly determined by the unit structure rather than the bulk properties or composition, offer new functionalities not readily available in nature. A set of implantable and resorbable therapeutic MM devices at terahertz (THz) frequencies are designed and fabricated by patterning magnesium split ring resonators on drug‐loaded silk protein substrates with controllable device degradation and drug release rates. To demonstrate proof‐of‐concept, a set of silk‐based, antibiotics‐loaded MM devices, which can serve as degradable antibacterial skin patches with capabilities to monitor drug‐release in real time are fabricated. The extent of drug release, which correlates with the degradation of the MM skin patch, can be monitored by analyzing the resonant responses in reflection during degradation using a portable THz camera. Animal experiments are performed to demonstrate the in vivo degradation process and the efficacy of the devices for antibacterial treatment. Thus, the implantable and resorbable therapeutic MM devices do not need to be retrieved once implanted, providing an appealing alternative for in‐vivo sensing and in situ treatment applications.  相似文献

Continuous monitoring of an arterial pulse using a pressure sensor attached on the epidermis is an important technology for detecting the early onset of cardiovascular disease and assessing personal health status. Conventional pulse sensors have the capability of detecting human biosignals, but have significant drawbacks of power consumption issues that limit sustainable operation of wearable medical devices. Here, a self‐powered piezoelectric pulse sensor is demonstrated to enable in vivo measurement of radial/carotid pulse signals in near‐surface arteries. The inorganic piezoelectric sensor on an ultrathin plastic achieves conformal contact with the complex texture of the rugged skin, which allows to respond to the tiny pulse changes arising on the surface of epidermis. Experimental studies provide characteristics of the sensor with a sensitivity (≈0.018 kPa?1), response time (≈60 ms), and good mechanical stability. Wireless transmission of detected arterial pressure signals to a smart phone demonstrates the possibility of self‐powered and real‐time pulse monitoring system.  相似文献

Piezoelectric nanogenerators with large output, high sensitivity, and good flexibility have attracted extensive interest in wearable electronics and personal healthcare. In this paper, the authors propose a high‐performance flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator based on piezoelectrically enhanced nanocomposite micropillar array of polyvinylidene fluoride‐trifluoroethylene (P(VDF‐TrFE))/barium titanate (BaTiO3) for energy harvesting and highly sensitive self‐powered sensing. By a reliable and scalable nanoimprinting process, the piezoelectrically enhanced vertically aligned P(VDF‐TrFE)/BaTiO3 nanocomposite micropillar arrays are fabricated. The piezoelectric device exhibits enhanced voltage of 13.2 V and a current density of 0.33 µA cm?2, which an enhancement by a factor of 7.3 relatives to the pristine P(VDF‐TrFE) bulk film. The mechanisms of high performance are mainly attributed to the enhanced piezoelectricity of the P(VDF‐TrFE)/BaTiO3 nanocomposite materials and the improved mechanical flexibility of the micropillar array. Under mechanical impact, stable electricity is stably generated from the nanogenerator and used to drive various electronic devices to work continuously, implying its significance in the field of consumer electronic devices. Furthermore, it can be applied as self‐powered flexible sensor work in a noncontact mode for detecting air pressure and wearable sensors for detecting some human vital signs including different modes of breath and heartbeat pulse, which shows its potential applications in flexible electronics and medical sciences.  相似文献

Energy self‐sufficiency is an inspirational design feature of biological systems that fulfills sensory functions. Plants such as the “touch‐me‐not” and “Venus flytrap” not only sustain life by photosynthesis, but also execute specialized sensory responses to touch. Photosynthesis enables these organisms to sustainably harvest and expend energy, powering their sensory abilities. Photosynthesis therefore provides a promising model for self‐powered sensory devices like electronic skins (e‐skins). While the natural sensory abilities of human skin have been emulated in man‐made materials for advanced prosthetics and soft‐robotics, no previous e‐skin has incorporated phototransduction and photosensory functions that could extend the sensory abilities of human skin. A proof‐of‐concept bioelectronic device integrated with natural photosynthetic pigment‐proteins is presented that shows the ability to sense not only touch stimuli (down to 3000 Pa), but also low‐intensity ultraviolet radiation (down to 0.01 mW cm‐2) and generate an electrical power of ≈260 nW cm‐2. The scalability of this device is demonstrated through the fabrication of flexible, multipixel, bioelectronic sensors capable of touch registration and tracking. The polysensory abilities, energy self‐sufficiency, and additional nanopower generation exhibited by this bioelectronic system make it particularly promising for applications like smart e‐skins and wearable sensors, where the photogenerated power can enable remote data transmission.  相似文献

A pseudo-capacitor with transient behavior is applied in implantable, disposable, and bioresorbable devices, incorporating an Na ion-doped bioderived ionic liquid, molybdenum trioxide (MoO3)-covered molybdenum foil, and silk sheet as the electrolyte, electrode, and separator, respectively. Sodium lactate is dissolved in choline lactate as a source of Na ions. The Experimental results reveal that the Na ions are intercalated into the van der Waals gaps in MoO3, and the pseudo-capacitor shows an areal capacitance (1.5 mF cm−2) that is three times larger than that without the Na ion. The fast ion diffusion of the electrolyte and the low resistance of the MoO3 and Mo interface result in an equivalent series resistance of 96 Ω. A cycle test indicates that the pseudo-capacitor exhibited a high capacitance retention of 82.8% after 10 000 cycles. The transient behavior is confirmed by the dissolution of the pseudo-capacitor into phosphate-buffered saline solution after 101 days. Potential applications of transient pseudo-capacitors include electronics without the need for device retrieval after use, including smart agriculture, implantable, and wearable devices.  相似文献

Biodegradable transient devices represent an emerging type of electronics that could play an essential role in medical therapeutic/diagnostic processes, such as wound healing and tissue regeneration. The associated biodegradable power sources, however, remain as a major challenge toward future clinical applications, as the demonstrated electrical stimulation and sensing functions are limited by wired external power or wireless energy harvesters via near‐field coupling. Here, materials' strategies and fabrication schemes that enable a high‐performance fully biodegradable magnesium–molybdenum trioxide battery as an alternative approach for an in vivo on‐board power supply are reported. The battery can deliver a stable high output voltage as well as prolonged lifetime that could satisfy requirements of representative implantable electronics. The battery is fully biodegradable and demonstrates desirable biocompatibility. The battery system provides a promising solution to advanced energy harvesters for self‐powered transient bioresorbable implants as well as eco‐friendly electronics.  相似文献

Soft and stretchable electronic devices are important in wearable and implantable applications because of the high skin conformability. Due to the natural biocompatibility and biodegradability, silk protein is one of the ideal platforms for wearable electronic devices. However, the realization of skin‐conformable electronic devices based on silk has been limited by the mechanical mismatch with skin, and the difficulty in integrating stretchable electronics. Here, silk protein is used as the substrate for soft and stretchable on‐skin electronics. The original high Young's modulus (5–12 GPa) and low stretchability (<20%) are tuned into 0.1–2 MPa and > 400%, respectively. This plasticization is realized by the addition of CaCl2 and ambient hydration, whose mechanism is further investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. Moreover, highly stretchable (>100%) electrodes are obtained by the thin‐film metallization and the formation of wrinkled structures after ambient hydration. Finally, the plasticized silk electrodes, with the high electrical performance and skin conformability, achieve on‐skin electrophysiological recording comparable to that by commercial gel electrodes. The proposed skin‐conformable electronics based on biomaterials will pave the way for the harmonized integration of electronics into human.  相似文献

Flexible and self‐powered photodetectors (PDs) are highly desirable for applications in image sensing, smart building, and optical communications. In this paper, a self‐powered and flexible PD based on the methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PBI3) perovskite is demonstrated. Such a self‐powered PD can operate even with irregular motion such as human finger tapping, which enables it to work without a bulky external power source. In addition, with high‐quality CH3NH3PBI3 perovskite thin film fabricated with solvent engineering, the PD exhibits an impressive detectivity of 1.22 × 1013 Jones. In the self‐powered voltage detection mode, it achieves a large responsivity of up to 79.4 V mW?1 cm?2 and a voltage response of up to ≈90%. Moreover, as the PD is made of flexible and transparent polymer films, it can operate under bending and functions at 360 ° of illumination. As a result, the self‐powered, flexible, 360 ° omnidirectional perovskite PD, featuring high detectivity and responsivity along with real‐world sensing capability, suggests a new direction for next‐generation optical communications, sensing, and imaging applications.  相似文献

Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) are widely applied to self‐powered devices and force sensors. TENGs consist of the electrode‐layer frequently made of high‐cost conductors (Ag, Au, ITO) and the tribo‐layer of rigid negative‐triboelectricity fluoropolymers (PTFE, FEP). The surface morpholoy is studied for enhancing performance. Here, a high‐performance Al/PDMS‐TENG is proposed with a complex morphology of overlapped deep two‐height microneedles (OL‐DTH‐MN) fabricated by the integrated process of low‐cost CO2 laser ablation and PDMS casting for self‐powered devices and high‐sensitivity force/pressure sensors. The high open‐circuit voltage and short‐circuit current of the OL‐DTH‐MN‐TENG are 167 V and 129.3 µA. Also, the sensitivity of the force/pressure sensor of the OL‐DTH‐MN‐TENG is very high, 1.03 V N?1 and about 3.11 V kPa?1, at an area of 30 cm2 that is much higher than the sensitivity of about 0.18–0.414 V N?1 and 0.013–0.29 V kPa?1 of conventional TENG sensors. Meanwhile, the high‐performance OL‐DTH‐MN‐TENG not only exhibits the energy storage capability of charging a 0.1 µF capacitor to 2.75 V at 1.19 s, to maximum 3.22 V, but also activates various self‐powered devices including lighting colorful 226 LEDs connected in series, the “2020‐ME‐NCKU” advertising board, a calculator and a temperature sensor. Numerical simulation is also performed to support the experiments.  相似文献

Due to the natural biodegradability and biocompatibility, silk fibroin (SF) is one of the ideal platforms for on‐skin and implantable electronic devices. However, the development of SF‐based electronics is still at a preliminary stage due to the SF film intrinsic brittleness as well as the solubility in water, which prevent the fabrication of SF‐based electronics through traditional techniques. In this article, a flexible and stretchable silver nanofibers (Ag NFs)/SF based electrode is synthesized through water‐free procedures, which demonstrates outstanding performance, i.e., low sheet resistance (10.5 Ω sq?1), high transmittance (>90%), excellent stability even after bending cycles >2200 times, and good extensibility (>60% stretching). In addition, on the basis of such advanced (Ag NFs)/SF electrode, a flexible and tactile sensor is further fabricated, which can simultaneously detect pressure and strain signals with a large monitoring window (35 Pa–700 kPa). Besides, this sensor is air‐permeable and inflammation‐free, so that it can be directly laminated onto human skins for long‐term health monitoring. Considering the biodegradable and skin‐comfortable features, this sensor may become promising to find potential applications in on‐skin or implantable health‐monitoring devices.  相似文献

Large‐area flexible pressure sensors are of paramount importance for various future applications, such as electronic skin, human–machine interfacing, and health‐monitoring devices. Here, a self‐powered and large‐area integrated triboelectric sensor array (ITSA) based on coupling a triboelectric sensor array and an array chip of CD4066 through a traditional connection is reported. Enabled by a simple and cost‐effective fabrication process, the size of the ITSA can be scaled up to 38 × 38 cm2. In addition, unlike previously proposed triboelectric sensors arrays, which can only react to the dynamic interaction, this ITSA is able to detect static and dynamic pressure. Moreover, through integrating the ITSA with a signal processing circuit, a complete wireless sensing system is present. Diverse applications of the system are demonstrated in detail, including detecting pressure, identifying position, tracking trajectory, and recognizing the profile of external contact objects. Thus, the ITSA in this work opens a new route in the direction of large‐area, self‐powered, and wireless triboelectric sensing systems.  相似文献

Effectively harvesting ambient mechanical energy is the key for realizing self‐powered and autonomous electronics, which addresses limitations of batteries and thus has tremendous applications in sensor networks, wireless devices, and wearable/implantable electronics, etc. Here, a thin‐film‐based micro‐grating triboelectric nanogenerator (MG‐TENG) is developed for high‐efficiency power generation through conversion of mechanical energy. The shape‐adaptive MG‐TENG relies on sliding electrification between complementary micro‐sized arrays of linear grating, which offers a unique and straightforward solution in harnessing energy from relative sliding motion between surfaces. Operating at a sliding velocity of 10 m/s, a MG‐TENG of 60 cm2 in overall area, 0.2 cm3 in volume and 0.6 g in weight can deliver an average output power of 3 W (power density of 50 mW cm?2 and 15 W cm?3) at an overall conversion efficiency of ~50%, making it a sufficient power supply to regular electronics, such as light bulbs. The scalable and cost‐effective MG‐TENG is practically applicable in not only harvesting various mechanical motions but also possibly power generation at a large scale.  相似文献

Wearable and portable devices with desirable flexibility, operational safety, and long cruising time, are in urgent demand for applications in wireless communications, multifunctional entertainments, personal healthcare monitoring, etc. Herein, a monolithically integrated self‐powered smart sensor system with printed interconnects, printed gas sensor for ethanol and acetone detection, and printable supercapacitors and embedded solar cells as energy sources, is successfully demonstrated in a wearable wristband fashion by utilizing inkjet printing as a proof‐of‐concept. In such a “wearable wristband”, the harvested solar energy can either directly drive the sensor and power up a light‐emitting diode as a warning signal, or can be stored in the supercapacitors in a standby mode, and the energy released from supercapacitors can compensate the intermittency of light illumination. To the best of our knowledge, the demonstration of such a self‐powered sensor system integrated onto a single piece of flexible substrate in a printable and additive manner has not previously been reported. Particularly, the printable supercapacitors deliver an areal capacitance of 12.9 mF cm?2 and the printed SnO2 gas sensor shows remarkable detection sensitivity under room temperature. The printable strategies for device fabrication and system integration developed here show great potency for scalable and facile fabrication of a variety of wearable devices.  相似文献

Electromagnetic energy radiation is becoming a “health‐killer” of living bodies, especially around industrial transformer substation and electricity pylon. Harvesting, converting, and storing waste energy for recycling are considered the ideal ways to control electromagnetic radiation. However, heat‐generation and temperature‐rising with performance degradation remain big problems. Herein, graphene‐silica xerogel is dissected hierarchically from functions to “genes,” thermally driven relaxation and charge transport, experimentally and theoretically, demonstrating a competitive synergy on energy conversion. A generic approach of “material genes sequencing” is proposed, tactfully transforming the negative effects of heat energy to superiority for switching self‐powered and self‐circulated electromagnetic devices, beneficial for waste energy harvesting, conversion, and storage. Graphene networks with “well‐sequencing genes” (w = Pc/Pp > 0.2) can serve as nanogenerators, thermally promoting electromagnetic wave absorption by 250%, with broadened bandwidth covering the whole investigated frequency. This finding of nonionic energy conversion opens up an unexpected horizon for converting, storing, and reusing waste electromagnetic energy, providing the most promising way for governing electromagnetic pollution with self‐powered and self‐circulated electromagnetic devices.  相似文献

As a rising star in the family of graphene analogues, germanene shows great potential for electronic and optical device applications due to its unique structure and electronic properties. It is revealed that the hydrogen terminated germanene not only maintains a high carrier mobility similar to that of germanene, but also exhibits strong light–matter interaction with a direct band gap, exhibiting great potential for photoelectronics. In this work, few‐layer germanane (GeH) nanosheets with controllable thickness are successfully synthesized by a solution‐based exfoliation–centrifugation route. Instead of complicated microfabrication techniques, a robust photoelectrochemical (PEC)‐type photodetector, which can be extended to flexible device, is developed by simply using the GeH nanosheet film as an active electrode. The device exhibits an outstanding photocurrent density of 2.9 µA cm?2 with zero bias potential, excellent responsivity at around 22 µA W?1 under illumination with intensity ranging from 60 to 140 mW cm?2, as well as short response time (with rise and decay times, tr = 0.24 s and td = 0.74 s). This efficient strategy for a constructing GeH‐based PEC‐type photodetector suggests a path to promising high‐performance, self‐powered, flexible photodetectors, and it also paves the way to a practical application of germanene.  相似文献

Self‐powered charging systems in conjunction with renewable energy conversion and storage devices have attracted promising attention in recent years. In this work, a prolific approach to design a wind/solar‐powered rechargeable high‐energy density pouch‐type hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) is proposed. The pouch‐type HSC is fabricated by engineering nature‐inspired nanosliver (nano‐Ag) decorated Ni0.67Co0.33S forest‐like nanostructures on Ni foam (nano‐Ag@NCS FNs/Ni foam) as a battery‐type electrode and porous activated carbon as a capacitive‐type electrode. Initially, the core–shell‐like NCS FNs/Ni foam is prepared via a single‐step wet‐chemical method, followed by a light‐induced growth of nano‐Ag onto it for enhancing the conductivity of the composite. Utilizing the synergistic effects of forest‐like nano‐Ag@NCS FNs/Ni foam as a composite electrode, the fabricated device shows a maximum capacitance of 1104.14 mF cm?2 at a current density of 5 mA cm?2 and it stores superior energy and power densities of 0.36 mWh cm?2 and 27.22 mW cm?2, respectively along with good cycling stability, which are higher than most of previous reports. The high‐energy storage capability of HSCs is further connected to wind fans and solar cells to harvest renewable energy. The wind/solar charged HSCs can effectively operate various electronic devices for a long time, enlightening its potency for the development of sustainable energy systems.  相似文献

Researchers have devoted a lot of efforts on pursuing light weight and high flexibility for the wearable electronics, which also requires the related energy harvesting devices to have ultrathin thickness and high stretchability. Hence, an elastic triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is proposed that can serve as the second skin on human body. The total thickness of this TENG is about 102 µm and the device can work durably under a strain of 100%. The carbon grease is painted on the surface of elastomer film to work as stretchable electrode and thus the fine geometry control of the electrode can be achieved. This elastic TENG can even work on the human fingers without disturbing body movement. The open‐circuit voltage and short‐circuit current from the device with a contact area of 9 cm2 can reach 115 V and 3 µA, respectively. Two kinds of self‐powered sensor systems with optimized identification strategies are also designed to demonstrate the application possibility of this elastic TENG. The superior characteristics of ultrathin thickness, high stretchability, and fine geometry control of this TENG can promote many potential applications in the field of wearable self‐powered sensory system, electronics skin, artificial muscles, and soft robotics.  相似文献

Photodetectors based on Weyl semimetal promise extreme performance in terms of highly sensitive, broadband and self‐powered operation owing to its extraordinary material properties. Layered Type‐II Weyl semimetal that break Lorentz invariance can be further integrated with other two‐dimensional materials to form van der Waals heterostructures and realize multiple functionalities inheriting the advantages of other two‐dimensional materials. Herein, we report the realization of a broadband self‐powered photodetector based on Type‐II Weyl semimetal Td‐MoTe2. The prototype metal–MoTe2–metal photodetector exhibits a responsivity of 0.40 mA W?1 and specific directivity of 1.07 × 108 Jones with 43 μs response time at 532 nm. Broadband responses from 532 nm to 10.6 μm are experimentally tested with a potential detection range extendable to far‐infrared and terahertz. Furthermore, we identify the response of the detector is polarization angle sensitive due to the anisotropic response of MoTe2. The anisotropy is found to be wavelength dependent, and the degree of anisotropy increases as the excitation wavelength gets closer to the Weyl nodes. In addition, with power and temperature dependent photoresponse measurements, the photocurrent generation mechanisms are investigated. Our results suggest this emerging class of materials can be harnessed for broadband angle sensitive, self‐powered photodetection with decent responsivities.  相似文献

A flexible and stretchable field‐effect transistor (FET) is an essential element in a number of modern electronics. To realize the potential of this device in harsh real‐world conditions and to extend its application spectrum, new functionalities are needed to be introduced into the device. Here, solution‐processable elements based on carbon nanotubes that empower flexible and stretchable FET with high hole‐mobility (µh ≈ 10 cm2 V?1 s?1) and relatively low operating voltages (<8 V) and that retain self‐healing properties of all FET components are reported. The device has repeatable intrinsic and autonomic self‐healing ability, namely without use of any external trigger, enabling the restoration of its electrical and mechanical properties, both after microscale damage or complete cut of the device—for example by a scissor. The device can be repeatedly stretched for >200 cycles of up to 50% strain without a significant loss in its electrical properties. The device is applicable in the form of a ≈3 µm thick freestanding skin tattoo and has multifunctional sensing properties, such as detection of temperature and humidity. With this unprecedented biomimetic transistor, highly sustainable and reliable soft electronic applications can be introduced.  相似文献
