A Study of Bruneian Corporate Customers＇ Uses of Mobile Services： An Application of Value-Based Adoption Model

This pioneering study investigates the seventy Bruneian corporate customers＇ adoption intentions towards using the mobile services. The study uses and validates the VAM （value-based adoption model） for investigating mobile service in different geographical setting contrary to the original study for Mobile Interact. The study combines four external variables such as perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, technicality and perceived fee with perceived value in predicting the adoption intentions of using mobile services. The study results indicate that only perceived usefulness is significant predictor of perceived values which are significant indicator of adoption intentions of using mobile services. Based on the results, some recommendations are made for the managerial implications.     

Just because it works: a response to comments on “On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms”

This response examines the context and implications of the comments to "On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms" that appears in this journal. The notion of metaphor is first considered and then the general themes of the commentaries addressed. The response subsequently focuses on representation and operators, noting that many of the comments support our basic premise.The main conclusion is that Sterelny's conditions do form a suitable basis for representation and operator design and that the collection of responses form an excellent basis for further discussion and research in evolutionary computation.

Online Government Services： The Benefits for Operations of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Quebec

Online government services enable businesses to broaden their operations and increase their productivity, ha most businesses, there is a strong demand for the delivery of e-government services because such services indeed provide better service delivery, healthier relationships with government authorities, less loss of time and fewer logistical limitations. The competitive advantage generated by these services is linked to recently developed products, know-how and ability to meet customer needs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the role of online government services in the development of SMBs （small and medium-sized businesses） in the context of the strong growth in online services that government bodies and institutions have made available to businesses. Using different electronic tools as online forms, businesses can use the information available and consequently generate gains in productivity and competitiveness （lower transaction costs, less time and less effort）. Specifically, this paper examines the extent to which the use of online government services affects SMB operations and the role of these services in the evolution of SMBs toward new business models.

A rebuttal to Whigham,Dick, and Maclaurin by one of the inventors of Grammatical Evolution: Commentary on “On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms” by Peter A. Whigham,Grant Dick,and James Maclaurin

The authors present a thinly veiled attack on the popular Grammatical Evolution (GE) system, the second in the space of year. The paper presents itself as a philosophical discussion on a framework they present, based on a handful of Sterelny’s guidelines. However, it quickly degenerates into an assault on GE, initially by attributing assumptions to the inventors, and latterly by the use of misleading claims. This rebuttal addresses both of these.     

e-LITE： A Concurrent Engineering Method Dedicated to E-learning Training Development for the Enhancement of Research Project Results

Scientific research projects aim to produce new knowledge generally in domains of high specialization.Some of these projects have goals of improving the performance of companies.In this case,the issues of the capitalization and transfer of scientific knowledge and its rapid transformation into professional skills are directly addressed.However,there is no method to derive e-learning teaching material from project results.So,this paper presents the e-LITE Method and its application to the ISTA3 project to support the process of developing a e-learning training.This application has allowed us to highlight the contributions of the method that promotes better knowledge sharing between partners of a research project and the development and transfer of research results to the professional world.So,after the presentation of the method,an application to the ISTA3 project will be presented.     

Taking “biology” just seriously enough: Commentary on “On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms” by Peter A. Whigham,Grant Dick,and James Maclaurin

“On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms,” by Peter A. Whigham, Grant Dick, and James Maclaurin, is a welcome reminder that evolutionary computation practitioners should be wary of taking their biological analogies too seriously. But more importantly, it is a reminder to practitioners to consider carefully their representations and operators, rather than blindly implementing a biological analogy without sufficient attention to the constraints of software engineering. “It works in biology, so it should work in EC” is poor, even lazy, software design. The primary contribution of this paper is exactly what a commentary should be: to (re)ignite discussions about how biological inspiration should inform EC practice.     

(Over-)Realism in evolutionary computation: Commentary on “On the Mapping of Genotype to Phenotype in Evolutionary Algorithms” by Peter A. Whigham,Grant Dick,and James Maclaurin

Inspiring metaphors play an important role in the beginning of an investigation, but are less important in a mature research field as the real phenomena involved are understood. Nowadays, in evolutionary computation, biological analogies should be taken into consideration only if they deliver significant advantages.
