A nanometer coupled oxide ZnO–SnO2 was prepared using the co-precipitation method employing NH3·H2O as the precipitant. The oxide was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and UV diffuse reflectance spectrum (DRS). The photocatalytic activity of nanometer coupled oxides was studied using methyl orange as a mode organic pollutant. The relationship between the photocatalytic activity and the microstructure of nanometer coupled oxides was also discussed in the paper. Experimental results showed that the nanometer coupled oxides mainly consist of nanometer ZnO and SnO2, and they have the same excellent photocatalytic activity as Degussa P25 TiO2 for the degradation of methyl orange (MO). Moreover, the photocatalytic activity of the coupled oxides increases gently at first, then decreases rapidly with the increase of the calcination temperature. But a small amount of nanometer Zn2SnO4 was formed in the mixture of coupled oxides when the calcination temperature was higher than 700 °C.  相似文献

The coupled photocatalyst WO3/TiO2 is prepared by ball milling by doping WO3 into TiO2 and using H2O solution as disperser. The coupled photocatalyst WO3/TiO2 is characterized by UV–VIS diffuse reflection spectrum, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that the optimum percentage of WO3 doped is 3% and that the photocatalytic activity of the coupled WO3/TiO2 photocatalyst is much higher than that of TiO2 and WO3–TiO2 with no ball milling. Compared with TiO2, the photoexcited wavelength range of the WO3/TiO2 photocatalyst red-shifts about 50 nm, and the light absorption intensity is also improved. The crystal phase of TiO2 is not changed and new crystal phases are not found during the process of ball milling. WO3 and TiO2 coupled highly, forming the WO3/TiO2 photocatalyst. The increased photocatalytic activity of the coupled photocatalyst may be attributed to the enhance charge separation efficiency and the extend wavelength range of photoexcitation.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO2 incorporated with praseodymium(III) nitrate has been prepared by an ultrasound method in a sol–gel process. The prepared sample is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption (BET surface area), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis DRS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The prepared material consists of TiO2 nanocrystalline with 5 nm size incorporated with highly dispersed Pr(NO3)3. Visible light absorptions at 444, 469, 482 and 590 nm are observed in the prepared sample. These bands are attributed to the 4f transitions 3H4 → 3P2, 3H4 → 3P1, 3H4 → 3P0 and 3H4 → 1D2 of praseodymium(III) ions, respectively. This sample Pr(NO3)3-TiO2, as a novel visible light photocatalyst, shows high activity and stability in the decomposing rhodamine-B (RhB) and 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) under visible light irradiation. Results examined by electron spin resonance spectroscopy (ESR) reveal that the irradiation (>420 nm) of the photocatalyst dispersed in RhB aqueous solution induces the generation of highly active hydroxyl radicals (OH), leading to the cleavage of the whole conjugated chromophore structure of RhB. A mechanism based on local excitation of praseodymium(III) nitrate chromophore and interfacial charge transfer from the chromophore to TiO2 is proposed to explain the formation of active hydroxyl radicals in the photocatalytic system under visible light irradiation.  相似文献

Cr3+-doped anatase titanium dioxide photocatalysts were prepared by the combination of sol–gel process with hydrothermal treatment. The samples were characterized by UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) specific surface area (SBET), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic absorption flame emission spectroscopy (AAS), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It was confirmed that Cr substitutes Ti4+ in TiO2 lattice in trivalent ionic state, and the concentrations of dopants Cr3+ decrease from the exterior to the interior of doped TiO2. The photocatalytic activity of Cr-TiO2 was investigated for the photocatalytic degradation of XRG aqueous solution both under UV and visible light irradiation. Due to the excitation of 3d electron of Cr3+ to the conduction band of TiO2, Cr-TiO2 shows a good ability for absorbing the visible light to degrade XRG. Doping of chromium ions effectively improves the photocatalytic activity under both UV light irradiation and visible light irradiation with an optimal doping concentration of 0.15% and 0.2%, respectively. The special distribution of dopants Cr3+ seems having a good effect on enhancing the photocatalytic activity of Cr-TiO2.  相似文献

TiO2 (anatase) with different microstructure was synthesized by thermal hydrolysis of the titanyl sulfate and studied by X-ray powder diffraction, high resolution transmission electron microscopy and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The effect of titanium dioxide structure, regular or distorted, on the photocatalytic degradation of Acid Orange 7 Dye (AO7) in water upon ultraviolet light was studied. It was found that synthesized TiO2 possesses a relatively high reactivity when illuminated but also show different adsorption in the dark. The relationship between these behaviors depends on the real structure of the catalysts. Catalysts with a perfect structural ordering formed after heating at temperature higher than 500 °C show better photocatalytic performance. Small amount of Pt added into the TiO2 structure was found to improve further the catalyst reactivity. Pt-modified titania catalysts oxidize AO7 more efficiently than P-25 Degussa TiO2. Doping effect of Pt on the structural and photocatalytic properties of the samples is discussed.  相似文献

Gold loaded on TiO2 (Au/TiO2) catalysts were prepared using Au(I)–thiosulfate complex (Au(S2O3)23−) as the gold precursor for the first time. The samples were characterized by UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic absorption flame emission spectroscopy (AAS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) methods. Using Au(S2O3)23− as gold precursor, ultra-fine gold nanoparticles with a highly disperse state can be successfully formed on the surface of TiO2. The diameter of Au nanoparticles increases from 1.8 to 3.0 nm with increasing the nominal Au loading from 1% to 8%. The photocatalytic activity of Au/TiO2 catalysts was evaluated from the analysis of the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO). With the similar Au loading, the catalysts prepared with Au(S2O3)23− precursor exhibit higher photocatalytic activity for methyl orange degradation when compared with the Au/TiO2 catalysts prepared with the methods of deposition–precipitation (DP) and impregnation (IMP). The preparation method has decisive influences on the morphology, size and number of Au nanoparticles loaded on the surface of TiO2 and further affects the photocatalytic activity of the obtained catalysts.  相似文献

A visible-light-active TiO2 photocatalyst was prepared through carbon doping by using glucose as carbon source. Different from the previous carbon-doped TiO2 prepared at high temperature, our preparation was performed by a hydrothermal method at temperature as low as 160 °C. The resulting photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, XPS, TEM, nitrogen adsorption, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The characterizations found that the photocatalyst possessed a homogeneous pore diameter about 8 nm and a high surface area of 126 m2/g. Comparing to undoped TiO2, the carbon-doped TiO2 showed obvious absorption in the 400–450 nm range with a red shift in the band gap transition. It was found that the resulting carbon-doped TiO2 exhibits significantly higher photocatalytic activity than the undoped counterpart and Degussa P25 on the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) in water under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm). This method can be easily scaled up for industrial production of visible-light driven photocatalyst for pollutants removal because of its convenience and energy-saving.  相似文献

Iron(III)-doped titanium dioxide photocatalysts were prepared from aqueous titanium(III) chloride solution in the presence of dissolved FeCl3 (0–10.0 at.% relative to TiCl3) by co-precipitation method. The precipitate was completely oxidized in the aerated suspension, hydrothermally treated, washed and calcinated. The structure of the powders was characterized by thermoanalysis (TG-DTA), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), nitrogen adsorption and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The light absorption of the iron-containing powders is red shifted relative to the bare sample. The particle size and anatase content were found to significantly decrease at iron contents ≥6.0 at.% which is accompanied with the increase of their specific surface area. XANES measurements showed that the local structure of iron systematically changes with the variation of the dopant concentrations: at higher Fe-contents, hematite- or goethite-like environments were observed, consistent with the formation of separate X-ray amorphous Fe(III)-containing phases. The local structure of iron gradually transformed with decreasing dopant concentrations, possibly due to substitution of Fe(III) in the titania (TiO2) crystal lattice. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) and chemical analysis was used to characterize the iron content of the samples in the bulk and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in the surface layer of the particles. The photocatalytic performance of the prepared photocatalysts was compared with the activity of Aldrich anatase under UV–vis and VIS irradiation in two different photoreactors. Maximum photocatalytic performance was found at 3.0 at.% iron concentration for UV–vis and at 1.2 at.% for VIS irradiation. Doping with iron(III) ions increased the photodegradation rate of phenol by a factor of three for UV–vis irradiation and by a factor of two for VIS irradiation, relative to the bare photocatalyst.  相似文献

Bimodal nanocrystalline mesoporous TiO2 powders with high photocatalytic activity were prepared by a hydrothermal method using tetrabutylorthotitanate (TiO(C4H9)4, TBOT) as precursor. The as-prepared TiO2 powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and N2 adsorption–desorption measurements. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared TiO2 powders was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of acetone (CH3COCH3) under UV-light irradiation at room temperature in air. The effects of hydrothermal temperature and time on the microstructures and photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 powders were investigated and discussed. It was found that hydrothermal treatment enhanced the phase transformation of the TiO2 powders from amorphous to anatase and crystallization of anatase. All TiO2 powders after hydrothermal treatment showed bimodal pore-size distributions in the mesoporous region: one was intra-aggregated pores with maximum pore diameters of ca. 4–8 nm and the other with inter-aggregated pores with maximum pore diameters of ca. 45–50 nm. With increasing hydrothermal temperature and time, the average crystallite size and average pore size increased, in contrast, the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas, pore volumes and porosity steadily decreased. An optimal hydrothermal condition (180 °C for 10 h) was determined. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared TiO2 powders under optimal hydrothermal conditions was more than three times higher than that of Degussa P25.  相似文献

Composite catalysts made of nanocrystalline TiO2 and carbon were prepared by a modified sol–gel method over activated carbon (AC). The composite catalysts were characterized by N2 adsorption–desorption isotherm, TG, diffuse reflectance UV–vis spectroscopy, XRD and SEM. The photocatalytic activity was tested on the degradation of Chromotrope 2R (C2R) in aqueous medium under UV radiation. The composite catalysts exhibited higher activities than commercial Degussa P25 alone and the photocatalytic process was more efficient than the pure photolytic degradation. A modified Langmuir–Hinshelwood approach was used to study the kinetics and to determine the adsorption equilibrium constant and the reaction rate constant. Two different mechanisms are proposed and discussed in order to explain the observed synergy.  相似文献

The use of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for improved photocatalytic degradation of phenol in aqueous suspension of commercial TiO2 powders (Degussa P-25) was investigated. Photodegradation was compared using direct photolysis (UV alone), H2O2/UV, TiO2/UV, and H2O2/TiO2/UV processes in a batch reactor with high-pressure mercury lamp irradiation. The effects of operating parameters such as catalyst dosage, light intensity, pH of the solution, the initial phenol, and H2O2 concentrations on photodegradation process were examined. It was shown that photodegradation using H2O2/TiO2/UV process was much more effective than using either H2O2/UV or TiO2/UV process. The effect of the initial phenol concentration on TOC removal was also studied, demonstrating that more than 8 h was required to completely mineralize phenol into water and carbon dioxide. For all the four oxidation processes studied, photodegradation followed the first-order kinetics. The apparent rate constants with 400-W UV ranged from 5.0 × 10−4 min−1 by direct photolysis to 1.4 × 10−2 min−1 using H2O2/TiO2/UV process. The role of H2O2 on such enhanced photodegradation of phenol in aqueous solution was finally discussed.  相似文献

A new smooth potassium dititanate film was prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by thermogravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-Visible diffuse reflectance and Raman spectroscopy. The gaseous photocatalytic activity of smooth K2Ti2O5 films was studied using contact angle analysis from the photocatalytic decomposition of octadecyltrichlorosilane (OTS) based self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) formed on K2Ti2O5 films. The photocurrent response of the film was determined by an electrochemical method. It was shown that the films were smooth, compact, and transparent when formed on glass. Compared with TiO2 film, the K2Ti2O5 film showed wide absorption in the ultraviolet and visible region. It was found that the monolayers on K2Ti2O5 decomposed much faster than those on TiO2 under UV irradiation of 254 nm in air. The film also exhibited a stronger photoresponse and a more stable anodic photocurrent. The K2Ti2O5 film efficiently decomposes the alkylsiloxane monolayers under UV irradiation in air and it was found to be a good photocatalyst for gaseous organic pollutant treatment.  相似文献

Cu2O/TiO2, Bi2O3/TiO2 and ZnMn2O4/TiO2 heterojunctions were studied for potential applications in water decontamination technology and their capacity to induce an oxidation process under VIS light. UV–vis spectroscopy analysis showed that the junctions-based Cu2O, Bi2O3 and ZnMn2O4 are able to absorb a large part of visible light (respectively, up to 650, 460 and 1000 nm). This fact was confirmed in the case of Cu2O/TiO2 and Bi2O3/TiO2 by photocatalytic experiments performed under visible light. A part of the charge recombination that can take place when both semiconductors are excited was observed when a photocatalytic experiment was performed under UV–vis illumination. Orange II, 4-hydroxybenzoic and benzamide were used as pollutants in the experiment. Photoactivity of the junctions was found to be strongly dependent on the substrate. The different phenomena that were observed in each case are discussed.  相似文献

Nanosized pure TiO2 particles were prepared by hydrolysis of TTIP in the sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles. TiO2/SiO2 nanoparticles were also prepared from TEOS as a silicon source and TTIP as a titanium source. These particles were characterized by TEM, XRD, FT-IR, BET, TGA and DTA. From thermal analysis and XRD analysis, the anatase structure of pure titania appeared in the 300–600 °C calcination temperature range and the rutile structure was showed above 700 °C. However, no rutile phase was observed for the TiO2/SiO2 particles up to 800 °C. The crystallite size decreased and the surface area of TiO2/SiO2 particles monotonically increased with an increase of the silica content. From FT-IR analysis, the band for Ti–O–Si vibration was observed and the band intensity for Si–O–Si vibration increased with an increase of the silica content. The micrographs of TEM showed that the TiO2/SiO2 nanoparticles had a spherical and a narrow size distribution. In addition, TiO2/SiO2 particles showed higher photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2 and the TiO2/SiO2 (90/10) particles showed the highest activity on the photocatalytic decomposition of p-nitrophenol.  相似文献

Structures and photocatalytic performance of N-doped TiO2 modified by platinum chloride (PtClx/N-TiO2) was investigated. It was found that the PtClx/N-TiO2 forms anatase structure of TiO2 involving nitrogen, chloride species and platinum ions (+IV) as major species, and it exhibits higher photocatalytic activity than either N-TiO2 or PtClx/TiO2 for the decomposition of acetic acid or acetaldehyde in aqueous solutions under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm). An enhancement of the photocatalytic activity on PtClx/N-TiO2 has been proposed as a Z-scheme mechanism for charge separation between platinum chloride and N-TiO2.  相似文献

A magnetically separable nitrogen-doped photocatalyst TiO2−xNx/SiO2/NiFe2O4 (TSN) with a typical ferromagnetic hysteresis was prepared by a simple process: the magnetic SiO2/NiFe2O4 (SN) dispersion prepared by a liquid catalytic phase transformation method and the visible-light-active photocatalyst TiO2−xNx were mixed, sonificated, dried, and calcined at 400 °C. The prepared photocatalyst is photoactive under visible light irradiation and easy to be separated from a slurry-type photoreactor under the application of an external magnetic field, being one of promising photocatalysts for wastewater treatment. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) were used to characterize the structure of the TSN photocatalyst. The results indicate that the magnetic SiO2/NiFe2O4 (SN) nanoparticles adhere to the surface of TiO2−xNx congeries. The magnetic photocatalyst TSN shows high catalytic activity for the degradation of methyl orange in water under UV and visible light irradiation (λ > 400 nm). SiO2 coating round the surface of NiFe2O4 nanoparticles prevents effectively the injection of charges from TiO2 particles to NiFe2O4, which gives rise to the increase in photocatalytic activity. Moreover, the recycled TSN exhibits a good repeatability of the photocatalytic activity.  相似文献

The physicochemical properties, the photocatalytic activities in aqueous solution and the adhesion properties of supported TiO2 films prepared by different sol–gel methods have been studied. The thickness, the TiO2 loading and the photocatalytic activities are influenced by the nature of the stabilising agent. By contrast, the nature of the organic titanium precursor, as well as the solvent and the absence of stabilising agents are determining for the resulting photocatalytic activities. Titania-sol generated by non-controlled hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide was used to determine the influence (i) of number of coating, (ii) of the calcination temperature and (iii) of the nature of support on the photocatalytic activity under direct and backside irradiation. The higher the coating number, the thicker the TiO2-film and the higher the photocatalytic efficiency. the optimum calcination temperature was found to be 400 °C. Migration of cationic species into TiO2-films and the decrease of thickness at higher temperatures lead to the decline of activity.  相似文献
