Carbon dioxide (CO2), as the primary greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, triggers a series of environmental and energy related problems in the world. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop multiple methods to capture and convert CO2 into useful chemical products, which can significantly improve the environment and promote sustainable development. Over the past several decades, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown outstanding heterogeneous catalytic activity due in part to their high internal surface area and chemical functionalities. These properties and the ability to synthesize MOF platforms allow experiments to test structure‐function relationships for transforming CO2 into useful chemicals. Herein, recent developments are highlighted for MOFs participating as catalysts for the chemical fixation and photochemical reduction of CO2. Finally, opportunities and challenges facing MOF catalysts are discussed in this ongoing research area.  相似文献

The development of earth‐abundant, active, and stable catalysts is important for solar energy conversion. Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have been viewed as a promising class of porous materials, which may have innovative application in photocatalysis. In this paper, three types of Fe‐based MOFs and their aminofunctionalized derivatives have been fabricated and systematically studied as water oxidation catalysts (WOCs) for oxygen evolution under visible light irradiation. MIL‐101(Fe) possesses a higher current density and earlier onset potential and exhibits excellent visible light‐driven oxygen evolution activity than the other Fe‐based catalysts. It speeds up the oxygen evolution reaction rate with the higher initial turnover frequencies value of 0.10 s?1. Our study demonstrates that Fe‐based MOFs as efficient WOCs are promising candidates for photocatalytic water oxidation process.  相似文献

Photoreduction of CO2 into reusable carbon forms is considered as a promising approach to address the crisis of energy from fossil fuels and reduce excessive CO2 emission. Recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted much attention as CO2 photoreduction‐related catalysts, owing to their unique electronic band structures, excellent CO2 adsorption capacities, and tailorable light‐absorption abilities. Recent advances on the design, synthesis, and CO2 reduction applications of MOF‐based photocatalysts are discussed here, beginning with the introduction of the characteristics of high‐efficiency photocatalysts and structural advantages of MOFs. The roles of MOFs in CO2 photoreduction systems as photocatalysts, photocatalytic hosts, and cocatalysts are analyzed. Detailed discussions focus on two constituents of pure MOFs (metal clusters such as Ti–O, Zr–O, and Fe–O clusters and functional organic linkers such as amino‐modified, photosensitizer‐functionalized, and electron‐rich conjugated linkers) and three types of MOF‐based composites (metal–MOF, semiconductor–MOF, and photosensitizer–MOF composites). The constituents, CO2 adsorption capacities, absorption edges, and photocatalytic activities of these photocatalysts are highlighted to provide fundamental guidance to rational design of efficient MOF‐based photocatalyst materials for CO2 reduction. A perspective of future research directions, critical challenges to be met, and potential solutions in this research field concludes the discussion.  相似文献

Nanometal materials play very important roles in solar‐to‐chemical energy conversion due to their unique catalytic and optical characteristics. They have found wide applications from semiconductor photocatalysis to rapidly growing surface plasmon‐mediated heterogeneous catalysis. The recent research achievements of nanometals are reviewed here, with regard to applications in semiconductor photocatalysis, plasmonic photocatalysis, and plasmonic photo‐thermocatalysis. As the first important topic discussed here, the latest progress in the design of nanometal cocatalysts and their applications in semiconductor photocatalysis are introduced. Then, plasmonic photocatalysis and plasmonic photo‐thermocatalysis are discussed. A better understanding of electron‐driven and temperature‐driven catalytic behaviors over plasmonic nanometals is helpful to bridge the present gap between the communities of photocatalysis and conventional catalysis controlled by temperature. The objective here is to provide instructive information on how to take the advantages of the unique functions of nanometals in different types of catalytic processes to improve the efficiency of solar‐energy utilization for more practical artificial photosynthesis.  相似文献

Photocatalysis driven by solar energy is a feasible strategy to alleviate energy crises and environmental problems. In recent years, significant progress has been made in developing advanced photocatalysts for efficient solar-to-chemical energy conversion. Single-atom catalysts have the advantages of highly dispersed active sites, maximum atomic utilization, unique coordination environment, and electronic structure, which have become a research hotspot in heterogeneous photocatalysis. This paper introduces the potential supports, preparation, and characterization methods of single-atom photocatalysts in detail. Subsequently, the fascinating effects of single-atom photocatalysts on three critical steps of photocatalysis (the absorption of incident light to produce electron-hole pairs, carrier separation and migration, and interface reactions) are analyzed. At the same time, the applications of single-atom photocatalysts in energy conversion and environmental protection (CO2 reduction, water splitting, N2 fixation, organic macromolecule reforming, air pollutant removal, and water pollutant degradation) are systematically summarized. Finally, the opportunities and challenges of single-atom catalysts in heterogeneous photocatalysis are discussed. It is hoped that this work can provide insights into the design, synthesis, and application of single-atom photocatalysts and promote the development of high-performance photocatalytic systems.  相似文献

Synthetic nano/micro/millimeter‐sized machines that harvest energy from the surrounding environment and then convert it to motion have had a significant impact on many research areas such as biology (sensing, imaging, and therapy) and environmental applications. Autonomous motion is a key element of these devices. A high surface area is preferable as it leads to increased propellant or cargo‐loading capability. Integrating highly ordered and porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with self‐propelled machines is demonstrated to have a significant impact on the field of nano/micro/millimeter‐sized devices for a wide range of applications. MOFs have shown great potential in many research fields due to their tailorable pore size. These fields include energy storage and conversion; catalysis, biomedical application (e.g., drug delivery, imaging, and cancer therapy), and environmental remediation. The marriage of motors and MOFs may provide opportunities for many new applications for synthetic nano/micro/millimeter‐sized machines. Herein, MOF‐based micro‐ and nanomachines are reviewed with a focus on the specific properties of MOFs.  相似文献

Although COFs are in their initial research stage, progress has been made in the design and synthesis of COF‐based electrocatalysis for the oxygen reduction reaction, oxygen evolution reaction, hydrogen evolution reaction, and CO2 reduction in energy conversion and fuel generation. Design principles are also established for some of the COF materials toward rational design and rapid screening of the best electrocatalysts for a specific application. Herein, the recent advances in the design and synthesis of COF‐based catalysts for clean energy conversion and storage are presented. Future research directions and perspectives are also being discussed for the development of efficient COF‐based electrocatalysts.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted tremendous interest due to their promising applications including electrocatalysis originating from their unique structural features. However, it remains a challenge to directly use MOFs for oxygen electrocatalysis because it is quite difficult to manipulate their dimension, composition, and morphology of the MOFs with abundant active sites. Here, a facile ambient temperature synthesis of unique NiCoFe‐based trimetallic MOF nanostructures with foam‐like architecture is reported, which exhibit extraordinary oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity as directly used catalyst in alkaline condition. Specifically, the (Ni2Co1)0.925Fe0.075‐MOF‐NF delivers a minimum overpotential of 257 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA cm?2 with a small Tafel slope of 41.3 mV dec?1 and exhibits high durability after long‐term testing. More importantly, the deciphering of the possible origination of the high activity is performed through the characterization of the intermediates during the OER process, where the electrochemically transformed metal hydroxides and oxyhydroxides are confirmed as the active species.  相似文献

The exploration of new porous hybrid materials is of great importance because of their unique properties and promising applications in separation of materials, catalysis, etc. Herein, for the first time, by integration of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs), a new type of MOF@COF core–shell hybrid material, i.e., NH2‐MIL‐68@TPA‐COF, with high crystallinity and hierarchical pore structure, is synthesized. As a proof‐of‐concept application, the obtained NH2‐MIL‐68@TPA‐COF hybrid material is used as an effective visible‐light‐driven photocatalyst for the degradation of rhodamine B. The synthetic strategy in this study opens up a new avenue for the construction of other MOF–COF hybrid materials, which could have various promising applications.  相似文献

Efficient capture of solar energy will be critical to meeting the energy needs of the future. Semiconductor photocatalysis is expected to make an important contribution in this regard, delivering both energy carriers (especially H2) and valuable chemical feedstocks under direct sunlight. Over the past few years, carbon dots (CDs) have emerged as a promising new class of metal‐free photocatalyst, displaying semiconductor‐like photoelectric properties and showing excellent performance in a wide variety of photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic applications owing to their ease of synthesis, unique structure, adjustable composition, ease of surface functionalization, outstanding electron‐transfer efficiency and tunable light‐harvesting range (from deep UV to the near‐infrared). Here, recent advances in the rational design of CDs‐based photocatalysts are highlighted and their applications in photocatalytic environmental remediation, water splitting into hydrogen, CO2 reduction, and organic synthesis are discussed.  相似文献

In this research, bulk graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) is exfoliated and transferred to the carbon nitride nanosheets (CNNSs), which are then coupled with MIL‐88B(Fe) to form the hybrid. From the results of the powder X‐ray diffraction, scanning electronic microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis, it is found that the doping of CNNSs on the surface of MIL‐88(Fe) could maintain the basic structure of MIL‐88B(Fe), and the smaller dimension of CNNSs might influence the crystallization process of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) compared to bulk g‐C3N4. Besides, the effects of the CNNSs incorporation on photocatalysis are also investigated. Through the photoluminescence spectra, electrochemical measurements, and photocatalytic experiments, the hybrid containing 6% CNNSs is certified to possess the highest catalytic activity to degrade methylene blue and reduce Cr(VI) under visible light. The improvement of the photocatalytic performance can be attributed to the matched energy level which favors the formation of the heterojunctions. Besides, it promotes the charge migration such that the contact between MOFs and CNNSs is more intimate, which can be inferred from the electronic microscopy images. Finally, a possible photocatalytic mechanism is put forward by the relative calculation and the employment of the scavengers to trap the active species.  相似文献

With the ever‐growing environmental issues, sulfate radical (SO4??)‐based advanced oxidation processes (SR‐AOPs) have been attracting widespread attention due to their high selectivity and oxidative potential in water purification. Among various methods generating SO4??, employing heterogeneous catalysts for activation of peroxymonosulfate or persulfate has been demonstrated as an effective strategy. Therefore, the future advances of SR‐AOPs depend on the development of adequate catalysts with high activity and stability. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with large surface area, ultrahigh porosity, and diversity of material design have been extensively used in heterogeneous catalysts, and more recently, enormous effort has been made to utilize MOFs‐based materials for SR‐AOPs applications. In this work, the state‐of‐the‐art research on pristine MOFs, MOFs composites, and their derivatives, such as oxides, metal/carbon hybrids, and carbon materials for SR‐AOPs, is summarized. The mechanisms, including radical and nonradical pathways, are also detailed in the discussion. This work will hopefully promote the future development of MOFs‐based materials toward SR‐AOPs applications.  相似文献

The development of new electrocatalysts for electrochemical oxygen reduction to replace expensive and rare platinum‐based catalysts is an important issue in energy storage and conversion research. In this context, conductive and porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered promising materials for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) due to not only their high surface area and well‐developed pores but also versatile structural features and chemical compositions. Herein, the preparation of bimetallic conductive 2D MOFs (CoxNiy‐CATs) are reported for use as catalysts in the ORR. The ratio of the two metal ions (Co2+ and Ni2+) in the bimetallic CoxNiy‐CATs is rationally controlled to determine the optimal composition of CoxNiy‐CAT for efficient performance in the ORR. Indeed, bimetallic MOFs display enhanced ORR activity compared to their monometallic counterparts (Co‐CAT or Ni‐CAT). During the ORR, bimetallic CoxNiy‐CATs retain an advantageous characteristic of Co‐CAT in relation to its high diffusion‐limiting current density, as well as a key advantage of Ni‐CAT in relation to its high onset potential. Moreover, the ORR‐active bimetallic CoxNiy‐CAT with excellent ORR activity is prepared at a large scale via a convenient method using a ball‐mill reactor.  相似文献

Crystalline frameworks including primarily metal organic frameworks (MOF) and covalent organic frameworks (COF) have received much attention in the field of heterogeneous catalysts recently. Beyond providing large surface area and spatial confinement, these crystalline frameworks can be designed to either directly act as or influence the catalytic sites at molecular level. This approach offers a unique advantage to gain deeper insights of structure–activity correlations in solid materials, leading to new guiding principles for rational design of advanced solid catalysts for potential important applications related to energy and fine chemical synthesis. In this review, recent key progress achieved in designing MOF‐ and COF‐based molecular solid catalysts and the mechanistic understanding of the catalytic centers and associated reaction pathways are summarized. The state‐of‐the‐art rational design of MOF‐ and COF‐based solid catalysts in this review is grouped into seven different areas: (i) metalated linkers, (ii) metalated moieties anchored on linkers, (iii) organic moieties anchored on linkers, (iv) encapsulated single sites in pores, and (v) metal‐mode‐based active sites in MOFs. Along with this, some attention is paid to theoretical studies about the reaction mechanisms. Finally, technical challenges and possible solutions in applying these catalysts for practical applications are also presented.  相似文献

Hierarchical porous structures are highly desired for various applications. However, it is still challenging to obtain such materials with tunable architectures. Here, this paper reports hierarchical nanomaterials with oriented 2D pores by taking advantages of thermally instable bonds in vanadium‐based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). High‐temperature calcination of these MOFs accompanied by the loss of coordinated water molecules and other components enables the formation of orderly slit‐like 2D pores in vanadium oxide/porous carbon nanorods (VOx/PCs). This unique combination leads to an increase of the reactive surface area. In addition, optimized VOx/PCs demonstrate high‐rate capability and ultralong cycling life for sodium storage. The assembled full cells also show high capacity and cycling stability. This report provides an effective strategy for producing MOFs‐derived composites with hierarchical porous architectures for energy storage.  相似文献

Metal–organic framework (MOF)–polymer mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs) have shown great potential and superior performance in gas separations. However, their sensing application has not been fully established yet. Herein, a rare example of using flexible MOF‐based MMMs as a fluorescent turn‐on sensor for the detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is reported. These MOF‐based MMMs are readily prepared by mixing a highly stable aluminum‐based nano‐MOF (Al‐MIL‐53‐NO2) into poly(vinylidene fluoride) with high loadings up to 70%. Unlike the intrinsic fragility and poor processability of pure‐MOF membranes, these MMMs exhibit desirable flexibility and processability that are more suitable for practical sensing applications. The uniform distribution of Al‐MIL‐53‐NO2 particles combined with the permanent pores of MOFs enable these MMMs to show good water permeation flux and consequently have a full contact between the analyte and MOFs. The developed MMM sensor (70% MOF loading) thus shows a highly remarkable detection selectivity and sensitivity for H2S with an exceptionally low detection limit around 92.31 × 10?9m , three orders of magnitude lower than the reported powder‐form MOFs. This work demonstrates that it is feasible to develop flexible luminescent MOF‐based MMMs as a novel platform for chemical sensing applications.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and their derivatives have attracted much attention in the field of photo/electrocatalysis owing to their ultrahigh porosity, tunable properties, and superior coordination ability. Regulating the valence electronic structure and coordination environment of MOFs is an effective way to enhance their intrinsic catalytic performance. Rare earth (RE) elements with 4f orbital occupancy provide an opportunity to evoke electron rearrangement, accelerate charged carrier transport, and synergize the surface adsorption of catalysts. Therefore, the integration of RE with MOFs makes it possible to optimize their electronic structure and coordination environment, resulting in enhanced catalytic performance. In this review, progress in current research on the use of RE-modified MOFs and their derivatives for photo/electrocatalysis is summarized and discussed. First, the theoretical advantages of RE in MOF modification are introduced, with a focus on the roles of 4f orbital occupancy and RE ion organic coordination ligands. Then, the application of RE-modified MOFs and their derivatives in photo/electrocatalysis is systematically discussed. Finally, research challenges, future opportunities, and prospects for RE-MOFs are also discussed.  相似文献
