This paper describes current and proposed protocols for mobility management for public land mobile network (PLMN)-based networks, mobile Internet protocol (IP) wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) and satellite networks. The integration of these networks will be discussed in the context of the next evolutionary step of wireless communication networks. First, a review is provided of location management algorithms for personal communication systems (PCS) implemented over a PLMN network. The latest protocol changes for location registration and handoff are investigated for mobile IP followed by a discussion of proposed protocols for wireless ATM and satellite networks. For wireless sensor networks (WSNs), energy is a scarce resource. Due to limited battery resources, the energy consumption is the critical issue for the transmission as well as reception of the signals in the wireless communication. WSNs are infrastructure-less shared network demanding more energy consumption due to collaborative transmissions. This paper proposes a new cooperative opportunistic four level model for IEEE 802.15.4 wireless personal area network. The average per node energy consumption is observed merely about 0.17 mJ for the cooperative wireless communication which proves the proposed mechanism to be energy efficient. This paper further proposes four levels of cooperative data transmission from source to destination to improve network coverage with energy efficiency. 相似文献

Wireless medical body sensors are a key technology for unobtrusive health monitoring. The easy setup of such wireless body area networks is crucial to protect the user from the complexity of these systems. But automatically forming a wireless network comprising all sensors attached to the same body is challenging. We present a method for making wireless body-worn medical sensors aware of the persons they belong to by combining body-coupled with wireless communication. This enables a user to create a wireless body sensor network by just sticking the sensors to her body. A personal identifier allows sensors to annotate their readings with a user ID thereby ensuring safety in personal healthcare environments with multiple users. 相似文献

主要说明无线通信将应用于移动通信、个人通信和全球通信。数字蜂窝网将增设微蜂窝区 ,频率从 90 0MHz升至 1 .8~ 2GHz ,向宽带和多媒体方向发展 ,数据速率从 1 44kb /s升至 2Mb /s。手机将是TDMA /CDMA双模。蜂窝网不仅用于移动通信 ,而且用于固定用户的市内接入网。卫星通信将加快发展低轨道 /中轨道卫星通信网 ,而同步卫星仍需利用。移动卫星网可通电话 ,可进行多媒体通信 ,速率为 2Mb /s,并通过地面信关站 ,与陆地固定通信网结合一起 ,实现全球个人通信。 相似文献
