This paper describes the influence of a low viscosity polyolester based lubricating oil on the pool boiling heat transfer of the refrigerant R507. The pool boiling heat transfer coefficients for this refrigerant–oil mixture are measured on a smooth tube and on an enhanced tube. The investigation is made for oil mass fractions up to 10% and for saturation temperatures between −28.6°C and +20.1°C. For the smooth tube the heat transfer increases for increasing oil mass fractions up to 3% at lower saturation temperatures. At higher saturation temperatures the heat transfer decreases for increasing oil mass fractions for both tubes. For oil mass fractions greater than 1% at the higher saturation temperatures a range of decreasing heat transfer coefficient is found for increasing heat flux. The effect is caused by the different miscibility of the oil and the components of the refrigerant mixture.  相似文献

A study of two-phase flow and heat transfer in a small tube of 1 mm internal diameter has been conducted experimentally as part of a wider study of boiling in small channels. R141b has been used as the working fluid. The boiling heat transfer in the small tube has been measured over a mass flux range of 300–2000 kg/m2 s and heat flux range of 10–1150 kW/m2. In this paper the boiling map for a mass velocity of 510 kg/m2 s and heat flux of 18–72 kW/m2 is discussed and the problems of determining heat transfer coefficients in small channels are highlighted.  相似文献

The predictive methods for the calculation of the heat transfer coefficient α with pool boiling are important tools for the optimum design of the evaporator and for the successful operation of refrigeration units. The method given in the VDI Heat Atlas is discussed as an example of the currently available methods/ and results of recent experimental investigations on nucleate boiling of partly fluorinated hydrocarbons (HFCs) and of hydrocarbons (HCs) are added covering those parts where the predictive methods should be improved, namely boiling of mixtures, influence of surface structure and material of the heating wall, and influence of additional flow of bubbles and liquid in tube bundles.  相似文献

This paper presents the heat transfer characteristics obtained from an experimental investigation on flow boiling of n-pentane across a horizontal tube bundle. The tubes are plain with an outside diameter of 19.05 mm and the bundle arrangement is inverse staggered with a pitch to diameter ratio of 1.33. The test conditions consist of reduced pressure between 0.006 and 0.015, mass velocity from 14 to 44 kg/m2s, heat flux up to 60 kW/m2 and vapor quality up to 60%. The convective evaporation is found to have a significant effect on the heat transfer coefficient, coexisting with nucleate boiling. An asymptotic model allows the prediction of the heat transfer data with a fitted value of n=1.5. A strong mass velocity effect is observed for the enhancement factor, implying that the correlations available from the literature for the convective evaporation will fail in predicting the present data. This effect decreases as the mass velocity increases.  相似文献

In this study, condensation heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of a plain tube, low fin tube, and Turbo-C tube were measured for the low pressure refrigerants CFC11 and HCFC123 and for the medium pressure refrigerants CFC12 and HFC134a. All data were taken at the vapor temperature of 39°C with a wall subcooling of 3–8°C. Test results showed that the HTCs of HFC123, an alternative for CFC11, were 8.2–19.2% lower than those of CFC11 for all the tubes tested. On the other hand, the HTCs of HFC134a, an alternative for CFC12, were 0.0–31.8% higher than those of CFC12 for all the tubes tested. For all refrigerants tested, the Turbo-C tube showed the highest HTCs among the tubes tested showing almost an 8 times increase in HTCs as compared to the plain tube. Nusselt's prediction equation yielded a 12% deviation for the plain tube data while Beatty and Katz's prediction equation yielded a 20.0% deviation for the low fin tube data.  相似文献

Evaporation heat transfer experiments for two refrigerants, R-407C and R-22, mixed with polyol ester and mineral oils were performed in straight and U-bend sections of a microfin tube. Experimental parameters include an oil concentration varied from 0 to 5%, an inlet quality varied from 0.1 to 0.5, two mass fluxes of 219 and 400 kg m−2s−1 and two heat fluxes of 10 and 20 kW m−2. Pressure drop in the test section increased by approximately 20% as the oil concentration increased from 0 to 5%. Enhancement factors decreased as oil concentration increased under inlet quality of 0.5, mass flux of 219 kg m−2 s−1, and heat flux of 10 kW m−2, whereas they increased under inlet quality of 0.1, mass flux of 400 kg m−2 s−1, and heat flux of 20 kW m−2. The local heat transfer coefficient at the outside curvature of an U-bend was larger than that at the inside curvature of a U-bend, and the maximum value occurred at the 90° position of the U-bend. The heat transfer coefficient was larger in a region of 30 tube diameter length at the second straight section than that at the first straight section.  相似文献

Carbon dioxide as a working fluid in refrigeration and heat pump systems is increasingly important in view of the CFC substitution problem. It is both under ecological and economical aspects an attractive alternative to the HFC working fluids at present in practical use. The thermophysical properties and characteristics of carbon dioxide are quite different from those of refrigerants used in conventional vapour compression cycles. Its application in conventional vapour compression refrigerating systems is limited by its critical parameters (tc=31.1°C and pc=73.8 bar). The possibility to use carbon dioxide also beyond these limits in high temperature processes, e.g. heat pumps, is given by the application of a trans-critical process. The design and construction of a commercial drying heat pump system (batch type cabinet dryer with 12 kW heating capacity and closed air circuit) using the natural working fluid carbon dioxide is shown and experimental results of investigations carried out are presented. Energy savings are given compared to manufacturer's data of energy consumption.  相似文献

Possibilities and problems of using hydrocarbons as working fluids in refrigerating equipment are discussed. An overview of safety standards is given. Different hydrocarbon alternatives are listed and characteristics in terms of thermodynamic cycles as well as heat transfer are shown. The general conclusion is that hydrocarbons offer interesting refrigerant alternatives for energy efficient and environmentally friendly refrigerating equipment and heat pumps. However, safety precautions due to flammability must be seriously taken into account. For some applications this can be done without adding noticeably to the total installation cost, but not in the general case.  相似文献

This paper presents a critical review of correlations to compute heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop, for refrigerants condensing inside commercially available tubes with enhanced surfaces of various types, and a theoretical analysis of the condensation phenomenon. Predictions from some of the above equations are compared with experimental data. In addition, information is presented about the influence of small amounts of compressor oil on the condensation of refrigerants in enhanced tubes.  相似文献

Condensation heat transfer and pressure drop of R410A and R22 in a newly proposed herringbone-type micro-fin tube are measured and compared to those of a helical micro-fin tube and a smooth tube. The heat transfer coefficient of the herringbone micro-fin tube is higher than that of the helical micro-fin tube in the high mass velocity region, while it has slightly lower value in the low mass velocity region. Pressure drop of the herringbone micro-fin tube is, however, higher than that of the helical micro-fin tube. Flow patterns of the herringbone micro-fin tube are observed and the heat transfer enhancement mechanism is discussed. The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of the helical micro-fin tube is predicted well with previously proposed correlations, while those of the herringbone-type micro-fin tube has higher value than the predicted values. Preliminary correlations for the pressure drop and the heat transfer coefficient are proposed for the herringbone micro-fin tube.  相似文献

Experimental data of the local heat transfer coeffcient of flow boiling ammonia in dependence of vapor fraction, mass flux and local heat flux is presented. Two horizontal test sections of 450 mm length and an inner diameter of 10 mm have been used, one being a plain tube, one being a spirally low finned tube. A constant wall temperature boundary has been aimed for the test section by heating with a fluid condensing on the tube outside. Local heat transfer coeffcients and pressure drops have been measured in the range −40 < Tsat < 4°C, 0 < x< 0.9, 50 < < 150 kg/m2 s and 2 < ΔTw < 15 K with resulting heat fluxes of 17 < < 75 kW/m2. The vapor quality is denoted as x, is the mass flux and ΔTw the wall superheat. The measured data is carefully evaluated using a finite element model of the tube with regard to the circumferential heat flow distribution. The smooth tube results are compared with recently published data and the correlation from Zürcher (Zürcher, O., Thome, J.R., Favrat, D. Evaporation of ammonia in a smooth horizontal tube: heat transfer measurements and predictions. Journal of Heat Transfer, 1999;121:89–101), and with the correlations of Steiner (Steiner D. Strömungssieden gesättigter Flüssigkeiten. VDI-Wärmeatlas, vol. 8. VDI-Verlag, 1997) and Kattan (Kattan N, Thome JR, Favrat D. Flow boiling in horizontal tubes: part 3 — development of a new heat transfer model based on flow pattern. Transactions of the ASME, 1998;120). The results of the low finned tube are not matched by any known correlation.  相似文献

In this study, 14 refrigerant mixtures composed of R32, R125, R134a, R152a, R290 (propane) and R1270 (propylene) were tested in a breadboard heat pump in an attempt to substitute HCFC22 used in residential air-conditioners. The heat pump was of 3.5 kW capacity with water as the heat transfer fluid (HTF) in the evaporator and condenser that are in a counter current flow configuration. All tests were conducted with the HTF temperatures fixed to those found in the ARI test A condition. Test results show that ternary mixtures composed of R32, R125, and R134a have a 4–5% higher coefficient of performance (COP) and capacity than HCFC22. On the other hand, ternary mixtures containing R125, R134a and R152a have both lower COPs and capacities than HCFC22. R32/R134a binary mixtures show a 7% increase in COP with the similar capacity to that of HCFC22 while R290/R134a azeotrope shows a 3–4% increases in both COP and capacity. The compressor discharge temperatures of the mixtures tested are much lower than those of HCFC22, indicating that these mixtures would offer better system reliability and longer life time than HCFC22. Finally, test results with a suction line heat exchanger (SLHX) indicate that SLHX must be used with special care in air-conditioners since its effect is fluid dependent.  相似文献

This paper presents pool boiling heat transfer data for 10 different R123/hydrocarbon mixtures. The data consisted of pool boiling performance of a GEWA-T surface for pure R123 and for 10 dilute solutions of five different hydrocarbons: (1) pentane, (2) isopentane, (3) hexane, (4) cyclohexane, and (5) heptane with R123. The heat flux and the wall superheat were measured for each fluid at 277.6 K. A maximum (19±3.5)% increase over the pure R123 heat flux was achieved with the addition of 0.5% mass isopentane to R123. Other mixtures of isopentane, pentane, hexane, and cyclohexane with R123 exhibited smaller maximums than that of the R123/isopentane (99.5/0.5) mixture. Presumably, a layer enriched in hydrocarbon at the heat transfer surface caused the heat transfer enhancement. Conversely, an R123/heptane (99.5/0.5) mixture and an R123/cylcohexane (99.5/0.5) mixture exhibited only degradations with respect to the pure component performance for all test conditions. Several characteristics of the hydrocarbons were examined to determine their influence on the boiling heat transfer performance: molecular weight, molecular structure, composition, surface tension, and vapor pressure.  相似文献

This work discusses about the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of a plain fin, a strip fin and combinations thereof in the fin-and-tube heat exchanger. Experimental apparatus and test algorithm using scale-up model fin geometry are discussed. The present work uses the electric heaters inside of the tube as the heating source to simulate the hot water loop in the wind tunnel test. The test results of the plain and strip fins are compared with the existing correlation and experimental data. It was found that a hybrid fin, plain fin at front row and strip fin at rear row, was more effective to enhance the heat transfer than that of the whole strip fin at the same fan power.

This paper presents experimental heat transfer results obtained during the evaporation of Isceon 59, R407C and R404A in a horizontal tube. The results have been compared with existing correlations which characterise the evaporative heat transfer coefficient to assess the validity of these models for refrigerant mixtures. The results compared well with the (Gungor K.E., Winterton, R.H.S. Simplified general correlation for saturated flow boiling and comparisons of correlations with data. The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering Research & Design 1987;65(2):148–156 and Shah M.M. Chart correlation for saturated boiling heat transfer: equations and further study. ASHRAE Transactions 1982;88(1):185–196) correlations over a 0.2 to 0.8 vapour quality range. These correlations, however, did not accurately predict the results obtained during the dry-out at high vapour quality. A model, developed by (Kattan N., Thome J.R., Favrat D., 1998. Flow boiling in horizontal tubes: part 1 — development of a diabatic two-phase flow pattern map. Journal of Heat Transfer, Transactions of ASME, Vol. 120, pp. 148–155; Kattan N., Thome J.R., Favrat D., 1998. Journal of Heat Transfer, Transactions of ASME, Vol. 120, pp. 156–165), was found to express the local variations in heat transfer during the whole evaporation process. This model was modified to fit the three new refrigerants. The modified Kattan model offers a good prediction of the heat transfer results, with a standard deviation of 6.1%.  相似文献

Nuclate pool boiling heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of HCFC123, CFC11, HCFC142b, HFC134a, CFC12, HCFC22, HFC125 and HFC32 on a horizontal smooth tube of 19.0 mm outside diameter have been measured. The experimental apparatus was specially designed to accomodate high vapor pressure refrigerants such as HFC32 and HFC125 with a sight glass. A cartridge heater was used to generate uniform heat flux on the tube. Data were taken in the order of decreasing heat flux from 80 to 10 kW m−2 with an interval of 10 kW m−2 in the pool of 7 °C. Test results showed that HTCs of HFC125 and HFC32 were 50–70% higher than those of HCFC22 while HTCs of HCFC123 and HFC134a were similar to those of CFC11 and CFC12 respectively. It was also found that nucleate boiling heat transfer correlations available in the literature were not good for certain alternative refrigerants such as HFC32 and HCFC142b. Hence, a new correlation was developed by a regression analysis taking into account the variation of the exponent to the heat flux term as a function of reduced pressure and some other properties. The new correlation showed a good agreement with all measured data including those of new refrigerants of significantly varying vapor pressures with a mean deviation of less than 7%.  相似文献

A comparison was made between the predictions of previously proposed empirical correlations and theoretical model and available experimental data for the heat transfer coefficient during condensation of refrigerants in horizontal microfin tubes. The refrigerants tested were R11, R123, R134a, R22 and R410A. Experimental data for six tubes with the tube inside diameter at fin root of 6.49–8.88 mm, the fin height of 0.16–0.24 mm, fin pitch of 0.34–0.53 mm and helix angle of groove of 12–20° were adopted. The r.m.s. error of the predictions for all tubes and all refrigerants decreased in the order of the correlations proposed by Luu and Bergles [ASHRAE Trans. 86 (1980) 293], Cavallini et al. [Cavallini A, Doretti L, Klammsteiner N, Longo L G, Rossetto L. Condensation of new refrigerants inside smooth and enhanced tubes. In: Proc. 19th Int. Cong. Refrigeration, vol. IV, Hague, The Netherlands, 1995. p. 105–14], Shikazono et al. [Trans. Jap. Sco. Mech. Engrs. 64 (1995) 196], Kedzierski and Goncalves [J. The extended corresponding states (ECS) model of Huber et al. (Huber, M.L., Friend, D.G., Ely, J.F. Prediction of the thermal conductivity of refrigerants and refrigerant mixtures. Fluid Phase Equilibria 1992;80:249–61) for calculating the thermal conductivity of a pure fluid or fluid mixture is modified by the introduction of a thermal conductivity shape factor which is determined from experimental data. An additional empirical correction to the traditional Eucken correlation for the dilute-gas conductivity was necessary, especially for highly polar fluids. For pure fluids, these additional factors result in significantly improved agreement between the ECS predictions and experimental data. A further modification for mixtures eliminates discontinuities at the pure component limits. The method has been applied to 11 halocarbon refrigerants, propane, ammonia, and carbon dioxide as well as mixtures of these fluids. The average absolute deviations between the calculated and experimental values ranged from 1.08 to 5.57% for the 14 pure fluids studied. Deviations for the 12 mixtures studied ranged from 2.98 to 9.40%. Deviations increase near the critical point, especially for mixtures.  相似文献

In this study, external condensation heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of six flammable refrigerants of propylene (R1270), propane (R290), isobutane (R600a), butane (R600), dimethylether (RE170), and HFC32 were measured at the vapor temperature of 39 °C on a plain tube of 19.0 mm outside diameter with a wall subcooling of 3–8 °C under a heat flux of 7–23 kW m−2. Test results showed a typical trend that external condensation HTCs decrease with the wall subcooling. No unusual behavior or phenomenon was observed for these flammable refrigerants during experiments. HFC32 and DME showed 28–44% higher HTCs than those of HCFC22 due to their excellent thermophysical properties. Propylene and butane showed the similar HTCs as those of HCFC22 while propane and isobutane showed 9% lower HTCs than those of HCFC22. Finally, a general correlation was made by modifying Nusselt's equation based upon the measured data of eleven fluids of various vapor pressures including halogenated refrigerants. The general equation showed an excellent agreement with all data exhibiting a deviation of less than 3%.  相似文献

An experimental study of a fin and tube condenser was performed using two different configurations of condenser paths (U and Z type) and two kinds of refrigerants (R-22 and R-407C) as working fluids. An integral test facility was constructed to evaluate the heat transfer capacity of the air and refrigerant sides of the condenser. An uncertainty study was also performed. A numerical code was developed, using a section-by-section analysis scheme in which mal-distribution on the air side and temperature gliding on the refrigerant side could be considered along the tube-length direction. Different condenser capacities were obtained from both the experimental and numerical results, depending on the paths and refrigerants used. R-22 performed better than R-407C for the Z-type path configuration, but no significant difference was found between results using either refrigerant in the U-type path configuration. On average, the numerical results obtained with R-22 were 10.1% greater than experiment data; using R-407C, results were 10.7% less than experiment data. The numerical code can be used as a design tool to develop better condenser paths.  相似文献
