今天的光纤通信系统利用不同固定频率的半导体激光器可将每个通道的信号传送到一根光纤中。如果这些分立的激光器是可调谐的,即能从一个波长通道转换到另一个波长通道,这将会给网络增加极大的灵活性。如果一个单一的激光器就能同时产生所有通道的信号,那不仅会增加网络的灵活性,而且还会使网络设计简化。  相似文献

根据F-P干涉原理设计制作了楔型F-P滤波器,使用这种滤波器进行可调谐掺铒光纤激光器实验,980nmLD泵浦功率为25mW时获得了稳定的单纵模激光输出,输出功率约0.6mW,线宽低于0.06nm,在34.2nm波长调谐范围内功率变化不超过0.5dB,边模抑制比大于35dB。  相似文献

利用1 550 nm光纤激光器搭建了一个同带泵浦环形腔掺铥光纤激光器,并对其光谱输出特性进行了研究。在1 550 nm激光泵浦下,1.6 m掺铥光纤自发辐射谱覆盖1 800~1 900 nm范围,3 dB带宽大于60 nm;通过在腔内插入隔离器,获得了线宽小于0.2 nm的激光输出,中心波长在1900 nm附近;进一步在腔内加入FP腔,获得了可调谐的窄线宽输出,光谱调谐范围达60 nm,覆盖从1 840~1 900 nm的光谱范围,激光线宽仅为0.07 nm。另外,在腔内使用通信波段用FP腔,同样获得了较宽调谐范围的窄线宽输出。输出光谱分为1 820~1 850 nm和1 865~1 915 nm两个区域,调谐范围共达80 nm。结合使用2 000 nm FP腔的可调谐光谱范围,该激光器在1 820~1 915 nm的范围都可以获得激光输出,与掺铥光线的自发辐射谱基本相符。  相似文献

Work on single-frequency tunable-wavelength semiconductor lasers with an external cavity based on fiber Bragg gratings formed in a single-mode optical fiber is reported. Methods for discrete and continuous tuning of the emission wavelength are considered. The described lasers emit dynamically stable radiation with a narrow linewidth (10 kHz) in the wavelength range of 635–1650 nm.  相似文献

The quantum cascade (QC) laser does not involve the material bandgap for the generation of light. Therefore, InP- and GaAs-based III-V semiconductor materials can now be used for the generation of long-wavelength, mid-infrared light. These materials are also straightforward to process and pattern. This is essential for the more sophisticated device geometries such as distributed feedback (DFB) lasers. DFB lasers provide a very elegant and reliable method to achieve a well-defined single-wavelength emission (called single-mode operation) as opposed to the usually multiple-mode emission of free-running Fabry-Perot resonators. QC-DFB lasers were first demonstrated in 1996. They have evolved very rapidly and have already shown great promise in many different gas-sensing applications  相似文献

This article covers laser configurations, design and experiments of photonic microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) tunable laser sources. Three different types of MEMS tunable lasers such as MEMS coupled-cavity lasers, injection-locked laser systems and dual-wavelength tunable lasers are demonstrated as examples of natural synergy of MEMS with photonics. The expansion and penetration of the MEMS technology to silicon optoelectronic creates on-chip optical systems at an unprecedented scale of integration. While producing better integration with robustness and compactness, MEMS improves the functionalities and specifications of laser chips. Additionally, MEMS tunable lasers are featured with small size, high tuning speed, wide tuning range and CMOS compatible integration, which broaden their applications to many fields.  相似文献

This paper presents a design optimization method for MEMS parallel-plate capacitors under fabrication uncertainties. The objective of the optimization problem is to maximize the production yield considering the fabrication tolerances. The method utilizes aspects of the advanced first-order second-moment (AFOSM) reliability method in probabilistic design to find a linearized feasible region for performance functions and uses an analytical double-bounded-probability distribution function (DB-PDF) to approximate the distribution of random variables. Then, it attempts to place the tolerance box in such a way that the portions of the box with higher yield lies in the feasible region. The yield is directly estimated using the joint cumulative distribution function (CDF) over the tolerance box requiring no numerical integration and saving considerable computational complexity for multidimensional problems. For this reason, any arbitrary distribution can be considered for random parameters and the problem is not restricted to normality assumptions. Numerical examples, verified by Monte-Carlo simulations, demonstrate that optimal designs significantly increase the yield. The advantage of the proposed design optimization method is that the yield can be maximized in early design stages without tightening tolerances or increasing the fabrication cost and complexity. The application of the presented method is not limited to tunable capacitors and can be extended to other MEMS devices.  相似文献

A novel idea and realisation of a control algorithm to switch the wavelength of continuously tunable lasers is presented. The concept allows the switching of a defined number of dense wavelength division multiplexed (DWDM) channels up or down by employing a broadband wavelength locker.
