Oligomer ethylene glycol (O‐EG) based electrolytes without volatile components were prepared and used in dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The characteristics such as viscosity, ionic conductivity, and ionic activation energy of O‐EG based electrolytes including liquid, gel and solid states were investigated and compared. It is found that the gel and solid O‐EG electrolytes have two Ea values with the changed phase state by going with the increased temperature, and they can increase the onset of applied voltage for generating dark current in DSSCs as from 0.222 V with liquid O‐EG electrolyte to 0.420 V with gel and solid O‐EG electrolytes, which results in the enhanced light‐to‐electricity conversion efficiency from 1.4% with liquid to 1.82% with gel and 1.86% with solid electrolytes. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We developed an ionic conductivity model of solid polymer electrolytes for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) based on the Nernst–Einstein equation in which the diffusion coefficient is derived from the molecular thermodynamic model. We introduced concentration‐dependence of the diffusion coefficient into the model, and the diffusion coefficient was expressed by differentiating the chemical potential by concentration. The ionic conductivities of polymer electrolytes (PEO/LiI/I2 system) were investigated at various temperatures and compositions. We prepared a set of PEO in which an EO : LiI mole ratio of 10 : 1 was kept constant for PEO·LiI·(I2)n compositions with n = 0.02, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, and 0.3 (mole ratio of LiI : I2). The ionic conductivities of the electrolytes were measured using a stainless steel/polymer‐electrolyte/stainless steel sandwich‐type electrode structure using alternating current impedance analysis. The values calculated using the proposed model agree well with experimental data. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2010  相似文献

Polymer gel electrolytes were prepared by thermal crosslinking reaction of a series of acrylic end‐capped poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(propylene glycol) [P(EG‐co‐PG)] having various geometries and molecular weights. Acrylic end‐capped prepolymers were prepared by the esterification of low molecular weight (Mn: 1900–5000) P(EG‐co‐PG) with acrylic acid. The linear increase in the ionic conductivity of polymer gel electrolyte films was observed with increasing temperature. The increase in the conductivity was also monitored by increasing the molecular weight of precursor polymer. Nanocomposite electrolytes were prepared by the addition of 5 wt % of organically modified layered silicate (montmorillonite) into the gel polymer electrolytes. The enhancement of the ionic conductivity as well as mechanical properties was observed in the nanocomposite systems. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 91: 894–899, 2004  相似文献

Polymeric gel electrolyte membranes based on the polymer poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) [P(VdF–HFP)] with different weight percentages of the ionic liquid (IL) 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate plus 0.3M lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4) salt were prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, complex impedance spectroscopy, pulse echo techniques, and Vickers hardness (H) testing. After the incorporation of the IL plus the salt solution in the P(VdF–HFP) polymer, the melting temperature, glass‐transition temperature (Tg), degree of crystallinity, thermal stability, elastic modulus (E), and hardness (H) gradually decreased with increasing content of the IL–salt solution as a result of complexation between the P(VdF–HFP) and IL. This was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. A part of the IL and LiBF4 were found to remain uncomplexed as well. The ionic conductivity (σ) of the polymeric gel membranes was found to increase with increasing concentration of the IL–salt solution. The temperature‐dependent σs of these polymeric gel membranes followed an Arrhenius‐type thermally activated behavior. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2015 , 132, 41456.  相似文献

A new carbon nanotube (CNTs)–poly acrylonitrile (PAN) composite electrolyte was prepared by the thermal polymerization of acrylonitrile (AN) with CNTs for solid-state dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). It was found that the uniform CNT–PAN composite was formed due to the thermal polymerization of AN on CNTs. The strong bonding between CNTs and PAN could be confirmed by the characterization of XPS and Raman spectroscopy, resulting in the lowering of crystallinity and the increasing the ionic conductivity of composite electrolytes. On comparison with bare CNTs and the other composite electrolytes, the formation of triiodide (I3) ions in CNT–PAN composite electrolytes was drastically increased which was expected from the high ionic conductivity of electrolyte via I3/I redox couple. DSSCs fabricated with CNT–PAN composite electrolytes achieved relatively high conversion efficiency of 3.9% with an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 0.57 V, short circuit current density (JSC) of 10.9 mA/cm2 and fill factor of 63.6%, which attributed to supply the higher extent of I3 ions from CNT–PAN composite electrolyte during the charge transport process.  相似文献

Solvents and electrolytes play an important role in the fabrication of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We have studied the poly(ethylene oxide)‐poly(methyl methacrylate)‐KI‐I2 (PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2) polymer blend electrolytes prepared with different wt % of the 2‐mercaptopyridine by solution casting method. The polymer electrolyte films were characterized by the FTIR, X‐ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance and dielectric studies. FTIR spectra revealed complex formation between the PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2 and 2‐mercaptopyrindine. Ionic conductivity data revealed that 30% 2‐mercaptopyridine‐doped PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2 electrolyte can show higher conductivity (1.55 × 10?5 S cm?1) than the other compositions (20, 40, and 50%). The effect of solvent on the conductivity and dielectric of solid polymer electrolytes was studied for the best composition (30% 2‐mercaptopyridine‐doped PEO‐PMMA‐KI‐I2) electrolyte using various organic solvents such as acetonitrile, N,N‐dimethylformamide, 2‐butanone, chlorobenzene, dimethylsulfoxide, and isopropanol. We found that ac‐conductivity and dielectric constant are higher for the polymer electrolytes processed from N,N‐dimethylformamide. This observation revealed that the conductivity of the solid polymer electrolytes is dependent on the solvent used for processing and the dielectric constant of the film. The photo‐conversion efficiency of dye‐sensitized solar cells fabricated using the optimized polymer electrolytes was 3.0% under an illumination of 100 mW cm?2. The study suggests that N,N‐dimethylformamide is a good solvent for the polymer electrolyte processing due to higher ac‐conductivity beneficial for the electrochemical device applications. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymer electrolyte based lithium ion batteries represent a revolution in the battery community due to their intrinsic enhanced safety, and as a result polymer electrolytes have been proposed as a replacement for conventional liquid electrolytes. Herein, the preparation of a family of crosslinked network polymers as electrolytes via the ‘click‐chemistry’ technique involving thiol‐ene or thiol‐epoxy is reported. These network polymer electrolytes comprise bifunctional poly(ethylene glycol) as the lithium ion solvating polymer, pentaerythritol tetrakis (3‐mercaptopropionate) as the crosslinker and lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonimide as the lithium salt. The crosslinked network polymer electrolytes obtained show low Tg, high ionic conductivity and a good lithium ion transference number (ca 0.56). In addition, the membrane demonstrated sterling mechanical robustness and high thermal stability. The advantages of the network polymer electrolytes in this study are their harmonious characteristics as solid electrolytes and the potential adaptability to improve performance by combining with inorganic fillers, ionic liquids or other materials. In addition, the simple formation of the network structures without high temperatures or light irradiation has enabled the practical large‐area fabrication and in situ fabrication on cathode electrodes. As a preliminary study, the prepared crosslinked network polymer materials were used as solid electrolytes in the elaboration of all‐solid‐state lithium metal battery prototypes with moderate charge–discharge profiles at different current densities leaving a good platform for further improvement. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (P(VDF‐HFP)) based composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) membranes were successfully prepared by electrospinning followed by electrophoretic deposition processes, and desirable polymer electrolytes were obtained after being activated in liquid electrolytes. The physicochemical properties of the CPEs with different electrophoretically deposited nano‐SiO2 contents were investigated by SEM, XRD, TGA, linear sweep voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. When the ratio of electrophoretically deposited nano‐SiO2 to P(VDF‐HFP) is up to 4 wt%, the results show that the CPE membrane presents a very uniform surface with abundant interconnected micropores and possesses excellent mechanical tensile strength with high thermal and electrochemical stability; the ionic conductivity at room temperature can reach 3.361 mS cm?1 and the reciprocal temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity follows a Vogel ? Tamman ? Fulcher relationship. The interfacial resistance of the assembled Li/CPE/Li simulated cell can rapidly increase to a steady value of about 950 Ω from the initial value of about 700 Ω at 30 °C during 15 days' storage. The battery performance test suggests that the CPE also shows excellent compatible properties with commercial LiCoO2 and graphite materials. © 2015 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

Fabrication, characterization, and a comparative study have been performed for chitosan‐based polymer electrolytes using two different dispersion media. Chitosan gel film (solid) electrolytes are fabricated using acetic acid or adipic acid as the dispersant for chitosan in combination with ionic liquid and lithium salt. This quaternary system of chitosan, acetic acid or adipic acid, 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimadazolium tetrafluoroborate (ionic liquid), and lithium chloride is formed as an electrolyte for potential secondary energy storage applications. The ionic conductivities, thermal, structural, and morphological properties for these electrolytes are compared. The ionic conductivities for chitosan/adipic acid (CHAD) and for chitosan/acetic acid (CHAC) systems are in the range of 3.71 × 10−4−4.6 × 10−3 and 1.3 × 10−4 −3.2 × 10−3 S cm−1, respectively. The thermal stability of CHAD‐based electrolytes is determined to be higher than that of CHAC‐based electrolytes. Preliminary studies are performed to determine the electrochemical stability of these materials as solid film electrolytes for electrochemical supercapacitors. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. A new hybrid polymer electrolyte system based on chemical‐covalent polyether and siloxane phases is designed and prepared via the sol–gel approach and epoxide crosslinking. FT‐IR, 13C solid‐state NMR, and thermal analysis (differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and TGA) are used to characterize the structure of these hybrids. These hybrid films are immersed into the liquid electrolyte (1M LiClO4/propylene carbonate) to form plasticized polymer electrolytes. The effects of hybrid composition, liquid electrolyte content, and temperature on the ionic conductivity of hybrid electrolytes are investigated and discussed. DSC traces demonstrate the presence of two second‐order transitions for all the samples and show a significant change in the thermal events with the amount of absorbed LiClO4/PC content. TGA results indicate these hybrid networks with excellent thermal stability. The EDS‐0.5 sample with a 75 wt % liquid electrolyte exhibits the ionic conductivity of 5.3 × 10?3 S cm?1 at 95°C and 1.4 × 10?3 S cm?1 at 15°C, in which the film shows homogenous and good mechanical strength as well as good chemical stability. In the plot of ionic conductivity and composition for these hybrids containing 45 wt % liquid electrolyte, the conductivity shows a maximum value corresponding to the sample with the weight ratio of GPTMS/PEGDE of 0.1. These obtained results are correlated and used to interpret the ion conduction behavior within the hybrid networks. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 100: 1000–1007, 2006  相似文献

Poly(ethylene oxide)‐based composite gel polymer electrolytes (CGPE's) were prepared for various concentrations of magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) and LiTFSI as salt with a combination of 1,3‐dioxolane (DOL) and tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (TEGDME) as plasticizer by a simple solution casting technique. The addition of plasticizers has significantly improved the ionic conductivity of the gel electrolytes. The prepared CGPEs were subjected to scanning electron microscopy, thermal, and FT‐IR analysis. The electrochemical properties such as ionic conductivity, compatibility, and charge–discharge behavior have also been studied. Preliminary studies revealed that the prepared CGPE can be employed as a potential electrolyte for lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. 1-Oligo(ethylene oxide)-3-methylimidazolium iodide (PEOMImI) was synthesized and applied to dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by blending it with different 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium iodides used as ionic liquid electrolytes. The 1-propyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide (PMII) blend enabled the DSSC to attain a higher solar energy conversion efficiency of 4.52% under a light intensity of 100 mW cm−2. The addition of N-methylimidazole (NMBI) to the electrolytes increased the conversion efficiency as compared to DSSCs based on NMBI-free electrolytes. The addition of both 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide (AMII) and NMBI enabled DSSCs to reach their highest solar energy conversion efficiency of 6.14% under a light intensity of 100 mW cm−2. The ionic conductivity and diffusion coefficient of the triiodide were found to be augmented dramatically after adding NMBI, which leads to an increase in the photocurrent density. The enhancement mechanism of NMBI in the electrolyte was investigated by Raman spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry, and it was mainly due to the enhancement of electron exchange in electrolytes.  相似文献

Amphiphilic conetwork–structured copolymers containing different lengths of ethylene oxide (EO) chains as ionophilic units and methyl methacrylate (MMA) chains as ionophobic units were prepared by free radical copolymerization and characterized by FTIR and thermal analysis. Polymer gel electrolytes based on the copolymers complexed with liquid lithium electrolytes (dimethyl carbonate (DMC) : diethyl carbonate (DEC) : ethylene carbonate (EC) = 1 : 1 : 1 (W/W/W), LiPF6 1.0M) were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry and impedance spectroscopy. A maximum ion conductivity of 4.27 × 10?4 S/cm at 25oC was found for the polymer electrolyte based on (PEG2000‐b‐GMA)‐co‐MMA with long EO groups. Moreover, the effect of temperature on conductivity of the amphiphilic polymer electrolytes obeys the Arrhenius equation. The good room temperature conductivity of the polymer electrolytes is proposed to relate to the enhancement in the amorphous domain of the copolymers due to their amphiphilic conetwork structure. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Highly porous poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF–HFP)‐based polymer membranes filled with fumed silica (SiO2) were prepared by a phase‐inversion technique, and films were also cast by a conventional casting method for comparison. N‐Methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone as a solvent was used to dissolve the polymer and to make the slurry with SiO2. Phase inversion occurred just after the impregnation of the applied slurry on a glass plate into flowing water as a nonsolvent, and then a highly porous structure developed by mutual diffusion between the solvent and nonsolvent components. The PVdF–HFP/SiO2 cast films and phase‐inversion membranes were then characterized by an examination of the morphology, thermal and crystalline properties, absorption ability of an electrolyte solution, ionic conductivity, electrochemical stability, and interfacial resistance with a lithium electrode. LiPF6 (1M) dissolved in a liquid mixture of ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate (1:1 w/w) was used as the electrolyte solution. Through these characterizations, the phase‐inversion polymer electrolytes were proved to be superior to the cast‐film electrolytes for application to rechargeable lithium batteries. In particular, phase‐inversion PVdF–HFP/SiO2 (30–40 wt %) electrolytes could be recommended to have optimum properties for the application. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymer electrolyte membranes composing of corn starch as host polymer, lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) as salt, and barium titanate (BaTiO3) as composite filler are prepared using solution casting technique. Ionic conductivity is enhanced on addition of BaTiO3 by reducing the crystallinity and increasing the amorphous phase content of the polymer electrolyte. The highest ionic conductivity of 1.28 × 10?2 S cm?1 is obtained for 10 wt % BaTiO3 filler in corn starch‐LiClO4 polymer electrolytes at 75°C. Glass transition temperature (Tg) of polymer electrolytes decreases as the amount of BaTiO3 filler is increased, as observed in differential scanning calorimetry analysis. Scanning electron microscopy and thermogravimetric analysis are employed to characterize surface morphological and thermal properties of BaTiO3‐based composite polymer electrolytes. The electrochemical properties of the electric double‐layer capacitor fabricating using the highest ionic conductivity polymer electrolytes is investigated using cyclic voltammetry and charge‐discharge analysis. The discharge capacitance obtained is 16.22 F g?1. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2016 , 133, 43275.  相似文献

Nanocomposite polymer blend electrolytes based on poly (ethylene oxide), poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) that contained lithium perchlorate as a dopant, propylene carbonate (PC) as a plasticizer and Barium Titanate (BaTiO3) as a filler were prepared for various concentrations of BaTiO3 using solvent casting technique. The structural and complex formations of the composite electrolyte membranes were confirmed by X‐ray diffraction and FTIR analysis. The addition of BaTiO3 nanofillers improved the ionic conductivity of the polymer electrolytes to some extent when the content of the BaTiO3 is 10 wt%. The addition of BaTiO3 also enhanced the thermal stability of the electrolyte. The surface morphology of the sample having a maximum ionic conductivity was studied by AFM. Molecular motion in the polymeric media was supported by fluorescence studies. The charge transfer arises between the polymer blend and Li‐ions were confirmed by UV‐Vis analysis. POLYM. Multifunctional structural batteries and supercapacitors have the potential to improve performance and efficiency in advanced lightweight systems. A critical requirement is a structural electrolyte with superior multifunctional performance. We present here structural electrolytes prepared by the integration of liquid electrolytes with structural epoxy networks. Two distinct approaches were investigated: direct blending of an epoxy resin with a poly(ethylene‐glycol) (PEG)‐ or propylene carbonate (PC)‐based liquid electrolyte followed by in‐situ cure of the resin; and formation of a porous neat epoxy sample followed by backfill with a PC‐based electrolyte. The results show that in situ cure of the electrolytes within the epoxy network does not lead to good multifunctional performance due to a combination of plasticization of the structural network and limited percolation of the liquid network. In contrast, addition of a liquid electrolyte to a porous monolith results in both good stiffness and high ionic conductivity that approach multifunctional goals. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. To improve the electrochemical performance of pure poly[(vinylidene fluoride)‐co‐hexafluoropropylene] (P(VDF‐HFP))‐based gel polymer electrolytes, different amounts of monodispersed ZrO2 nanoparticles were introduced to fabricate P(VDF‐HFP)/ZrO2 composite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) using the phase inversion method and activated processes, in which the monodispersed ZrO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by an easy route without any chelating agents or surfactants, and confirmed using scanning electron microscopy, particle size distribution measurement and X‐ray diffraction. The characterization results show that the as‐fabricated CPE membranes present not only an abundant porous structure, but also an improved mechanical strength. In particular, sample CPE‐5 presents the best properties when the doped content of the monodispersed ZrO2 nanoparticles reaches 5 wt% in the polymer matrix, in which the liquid uptake and ionic conductivity at room temperature are about 192.4% and 3.926 mS cm?1, and the electrochemical working window and thermal decomposition temperature can increase to 5.1 V and 420 °C, respectively. Moreover, an assembled LiCoO2/CPE‐5/Li coin cell can deliver excellent rate and cycling performance, in which the discharge specific capacity of the cell can show about 83.95% capacity retention at 2.0 C after 85 cycles. © 2018 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A new poly(propylene carbonate)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO/PPC) polymer electrolytes (PEs) have been developed by solution‐casting technique using biodegradable PPC and PEO. The morphology, structure, and thermal properties of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry methods. The ionic conductivity and the electrochemical stability window of the PEO/PPC polymer electrolytes were also measured. The results showed that the Tg and the crystallinity of PEO decrease, and consequently, the ionic conductivity increases because of the addition of amorphous PPC. The PEO/50%PPC/10%LiClO4 polymer electrolyte possesses good properties such as 6.83 × 10?5 S cm?1 of ionic conductivity at room temperature and 4.5 V of the electrochemical stability window. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
