Augmented Reality (AR) is an integrated technique of image processing and display system of complex information, which involves real-time computing, motion tracking, pattern recognition, image projection, database linking, feature extraction, and coordinate transformation. In this study, such techniques through Structure From Motion (SFM), Clustering Views for Multi-View Stereo (CMVS), Patch-based Multi-View Stereo (PMVS), and Poisson surface reconstruction were smoothly integrated into a 3D reconstruction system with comparative efficiency in computation. The system can be applied to regular images taken by amateur cameras, smart phones, tablet PCs, and other mobile devices, without need of a priori internal and external camera parameters. To verify the ability of the established reconstruction system, indoor and outdoor objects at various scales, such as a helmet (a small object), a corridor (an indoor medium object), an arbor (outdoor medium object), and a building (outdoor large object) were tested. Through tracking and registration, the reconstructed 3D models were loaded in an AR environment to facilitate displaying, interacting, and rendering that provides AR applications in construction design and management for better and qualitative communication in economical and handy ways. 相似文献

Quick and correct information capturing, archival and retrieval in construction sites is essential to support project management. This paper presents a new methodology for managing construction document information using RFID-based semantic contexts. The methodology deploys four main tools for construction document archival and retrieval: (1) template document metadata modules that formulate document information; (2) semantic ontologies for indexing construction documents; (3) RFID framework for automatic identification of construction concepts; and (4) an ontological indexing mechanism to reason about ontological semantic relationships and infer applicable concepts for indexing. To demonstrate the role and contribution of the new proposed methodology, first a template for construction problem documents module has been constructed. Then, a new object-oriented Java-based prototype was developed to leverage RFIDs and OWL (Web Ontology Language)-based ontologies for reasoning about indexed construction concepts. Finally, a case study has been performed to validate the new methodology's capability of supporting users through available RFID information in the selection of construction concepts for archiving and retrieving related, stored documents from a relational corporate database of construction problems. The new methodology implementation shows a number of direct impacts such as the effectiveness of document archival and retrieval and the efficiency of fusing information. On local and urban networks, the enduring issue of scarce resources for Maintenance, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction strategies (MR&R) has led, in many cases, to using unadjusted or poor techniques for road pavement distress detection and analysis, yielding ineffective or even counterproductive results. Therefore, it is necessary to have tools that can carry out quick, reliable and low-cost assessment surveys. This paper aims at validating the use of innovative and low-cost technologies for road pavement analysis, assessing their potentialities for improving the automation and reliability of distress detection. A Structure from Motion (SfM) technique is analyzed at different altitudes. The technique was applied on a distressed road pavement inside the University Campus in Palermo. The models obtained were compared with a terrestrial laser scanned 3D model to analyze the technique's metric accuracy and reliability. The results have shown that the technique accurately replicates pavement distresses, inciting an integrated approach to optimize pavement management strategies. 相似文献

Corporate memory tools represent one way organizations can document, retrieve and utilize best practice and lessons learned in enhancing their performance. Using semantic systems in building these tools (along with database and/or AI-based systems) allows for more efficient representation of tacit knowledge. Such systems are based on a common ontology of the subject domain, where entities (such as actors, processes and products) are interlinked to represent the essence of the knowledge in the domain. The paper presents a taxonomy for building construction. The taxonomy includes 6000 concepts and was developed using OWL. It maps to existing classification systems to assure better coverage. The taxonomy is the first attempt to present building construction knowledge in a semantic way. It also represents the foundations developing ontology-based corporate memory systems. To demonstrate the role and contribution of the proposed taxonomy a prototypical ontology for building construction was developed. Furthermore, a framework for agent-based system for supporting semi-automatic generation of reports such as lessons learned, work forms, and meeting agendas. Such agents allow organizations to capture and document its knowledge (in a taxonomy-complaint format) and to feed back post-project knowledge into new ones through access to lessons learned and through pre-defined meeting agendas. Access to these reports is done through semantic search according to the proposed taxonomy. This paper presents an ontology-based method for the formalisation and application of construction conformance requirements for effective code checking. This research continues our work on the development of a generic model automating the conformance checking of construction projects against building codes. We start from the analysis of the related research on the formalisation and organisation of building codes that allows us to formulate our approach for semantic annotation and scheduling of conformance requirements for conformance checking task. Our approach comprises 5 main steps: formalisation, semantic annotation, classification, context-based scheduling and semantic search of conformance requirements. They are implemented as corresponding key components of the C3R (Conformance Checking in Construction — Reasoning) prototype that we have developed to model the conformance checking process in construction. Finally, we discuss the ongoing work and perspectives of our research: the validation of our model by construction practices and the enrichment of our approach by usage-based knowledge. 相似文献
