工业4.0背景下,全球化工行业正经历着前所未有的互联网、大数据和智能化变革,化工高等教育也面临着培养新型化工人才的巨大挑战。文章研究了国内外化工行业发展情况,并从学习产出角度对国内外化工高等教育现状进行了对比分析。研究表明,我国化工高等教育虽建立了系统的化工基础理论知识体系,但在学生的学科兴趣和专业方向引导、学术启蒙、创新创业能力培养和职业素养提升方面有待加强;应保持教学内容的前沿性和先进性,采用更加开放和多样化的教学方法及考核方式;强化多种形式的多方合作交流,增强学生的国际化视野,推进新工科建设,培养适应新工业时代的创新型化工人才。  相似文献

Recently, there has been a growing tendency to substitute or supplement teacher-centered strategies for others student-centered. These include problem-based learning or collaborative learning. In certain areas, such as engineering, project-led learning collects some of the benefits of problem-based learning and integrates others that are of interest to the formation of engineers. More recently, project-led education as an integral strategy has been demonstrated in several European universities with impressive results. Students have a lower dropout rate, a lower period of adaptation to professional practice and better soft skills. While this implementation requires a general model change, at least at the faculty level, partial strategies applied in specific courses could pick up some of the positive aspects of these methodologies. In this paper, obtained results in a second-year Unit Operations course (grade of bioengineering) by applying this type of partial strategies are discussed. The student’s acceptance was good, and both motivation and academic results improved significantly. It was observed a deeper and wider knowledge acquisition in the students. Teacher’s workload increased, although, as there was a maximum of 25 students, it was manageable. It was concluded that transition from traditional to project-led learning strategies can be done within a subject without an educational model change at faculty or university level.  相似文献

Chemical engineering education is currently run in only two institutions in Ghana using the traditional, subject-based approach. The subject-based curriculum currently being used is seen as deficient in preparing students adequately to meet expectations of industry as well as the demands of globalization. Under the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations of Ghana, competency-based curricula is being developed for Higher National Diploma (HND) engineering programmes in all polytechnics in Ghana, with the support of World Bank and Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education. This paper provides an insight to tertiary education in Ghana and highlights milestones in chemical engineering training. This paper describes the methodology used in developing a competency-based training curriculum for HND chemical engineering. Functional area competency standards expected of HND chemical engineering graduates in Ghana were developed in close collaboration with personnel from industry. In addition, generic competencies expected of all HND engineering graduates in Ghana are outlined in this paper. As is the case in all CBT programmes, there is the need to train and adapt coaches to the CBT concept, in addition to building strong partnerships with industry for the successful implementation of the programme.  相似文献

Engineering simulations have opened several gates for today’s chemical engineers. They are powerful tools to provide technical content as physics-based numerical solvers. Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), on the other hand, are already underway to digitize environments in many fields. The combination of AR/VR environments and simulations in engineering education has been attracting widespread interest. Literature has demonstrated a massive amount of digital educational environments in several contexts as being complementary to conventional educational methods. Nevertheless, hosting technical content produced by engineering simulations with educational AR/VR is still challenging and requires expertise from multiple disciplines throughout the technical development. Present work provides a facile and agile methodology for low-cost hardware but content-wise rich AR software development. Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic, a case study is developed to teach chemical-engineering concepts using a liquid-soap synthesis process. Accordingly, we assess and conclude the digital development process to guide inexperienced developers for the digitalization of teaching content. The present contribution serves as an example of the power of integrating AR/VR with traditional engineering simulations for educational purposes. Learning is a complicated process composed of vision, interpretation, comprehension and memory. This study for the first time compared activities in the brain for equation reading and writing by selected professionals using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Finger writing did not change the message pathway in brain, but on the other hand intensified stimuli on the information integration and language processing centers by hand movement. Writing practice can assist students to integrate and comprehend the lectures delivered in the chemical engineering classrooms. However, this practice cannot help a student to extract abstract meaning in the equation.  相似文献

Over three semesters, every lecture in a second year chemical engineering subject was begun with a safety share, a 2–4 min discussion on some aspect of safety. This reflects the practice in many industries today in which all meetings, no matter what the topic, begin with a brief discussion on some aspect of safety. The content of the safety shares were not relevant to the lecture material of the subject which covered material and energy balances and students were advised that the content would not be examinable. The safety shares covered general advice on safe practice including the importance of situational awareness and working in confined spaces. Other safety shares discussed case studies that allowed concepts such as human factors and the dangers of static electricity to be introduced. A survey of the three cohorts after the subjects had been completed showed that the students found the safety shares to be a good way to introduce the importance of safety in the work place. They found the shares interesting and did not consider the time spent on them at the start of the classes to be wasted. Over fifty safety shares used in the classes are presented.  相似文献

Continually assessed project work forms a core part of the Chemical Engineering curriculum at Cambridge. We have designed and built a remotely controlled chemical reactor that has been used and evaluated in undergraduate chemical engineering education. The purpose was to provide a pedagogical and authentic experience to students with essential training when laboratory usage was impossible or impractical, and be able to run and share the experiments as a fully functioning chemical engineering plant. A state-of-the-art SIMATIC PCS 7 Process Control System from Siemens is used for controlling, monitoring and providing results output. We describe the experimental setup, the hard- and software used, the teaching assignment and finally the results of the student evaluation. We also describe the challenges on the sustainability of the weblabs.  相似文献
