Flow boiling experiments for refrigerant R-600a, and R-290 mixed with the lubricating oil (EMKARATE) in the serpentine small-diameter (2.46 mm) U-tubes are reported. The tests were conducted at the nominal inlet pressure of 186.2 kPa, vapor qualities (0–0.76), mass flux of 100–320 (kg/m2s) and inlet oil concentrations from 0 to 5 mass% oil. It was noted that a significant degradation of heat transfer coefficients presented at high qualities and high oil concentrations. The present study investigated that whether the average heat transfer coefficient increased as mass fluxes and the numbers of the U-bend increased. In addition, the ratios (the enhanced heat transfer factor, EF) for both R-600a and R-290 refrigerants increased as the oil concentration increased up to 1% then decreased with each increase in oil concentration. Moreover, pressure dropped during evaporation increased with the addition of a lubricant, mass fluxes and the numbers of the U-turn. The values of the pressure drop penalty factor PF were generally larger than l and increased rapidly as the oil concentration and the numbers of the U-turn increased.  相似文献

Experimental heat transfer coefficients for R-134a and R-600a in horizontal tubes with vertically positioned perforated strip-type inserts are reported in this paper. Tests were conducted using a single-tube evaporator test facility. The test section used was 2000 mm long, 10.6 mm inside diameter, horizontal, smooth copper tube with perforated strip-type inserts made from the same material (copper). Test parameters were varied as follows: heat flux 9.1-31.2 kW/m2; mass velocity 82.3-603.3 kg/m2 s; quality 0-0.85, and a saturation temperature of 6 °C. The flow pattern were identified for different test tubes and flow conditions. The heat transfer coefficients for R-600a were higher than those for R-134a. The heat transfer performance and pressure drop can be improved up to 2.5 and 1.5, respectively for a 96 perforated holes enhanced tube. All comparisons were based on the same nominal mass flow rate. Finally, an empirical correlation was developed.  相似文献

An experimental study on in-tube flow boiling heat transfer of R-134a/R-290/R-600a refrigerant mixture has been carried out under varied heat flux test conditions. The heat transfer coefficients are experimentally measured at temperatures between ?8 and 5 °C for mass flow rates of 3–5 g s?1. Acetone is used as a hot fluid which flows in the outer tube of diameter 28.57 mm while the refrigerant mixture flows in the inner tube of diameters 9.52 and 12.7 mm. By regulating the acetone flow conditions, the heat flux is maintained between 2 and 8 kW/m2 and the pressure of the refrigerant is maintained between 3.2 and 5 bar. The comparison of experimental results with the familiar correlations shows that the correlations over predict the heat transfer coefficients for this mixture when stratified and stratified-wavy flow prevail. Multiple regression technique is used to evolve and modify existing correlations to predict the heat transfer coefficient of the refrigerant mixture. It is found that the modified version of Lavin–Young correlation (1965) predicts the heat transfer coefficient of the considered mixture within an average deviation of ±20.5 %.  相似文献

In this paper we present experimental data on heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics at flow boiling of refrigerant R-134a in a horizontal microchannel heat sink. The primary objective of this study was to experimentally establish how the local heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop correlate with the heat flux, mass flux, and vapor quality. The copper microchannel heat sink contains 21 microchannels with 335 × 930 μm2 cross section. The microchannel plate and heating block were divided by the partition wall for the local heat flux measurements. Distribution of local heat transfer coefficients along the length and width of the microchannel plate was measured in the range of external heat fluxes from 50 to 500 kW/m2; the mass flux varied within 200–600 kg/m2-s, and pressure varied within 6–16 bar. The obvious impact of heat flux on the magnitude of heat transfer coefficient was observed. It showed that nucleate boiling is the dominant mechanism for heat transfer. A new model of flow boiling heat transfer, considering nucleate boiling suppression and liquid film evaporation, was proposed and verified experimentally in this paper.  相似文献

A study of post-dryout heat transfer was performed with a directed heated smooth tube and rifled tubes using vertical R-134a up-flow to investigate the heat transfer characteristics in the post-dryout region. Three types of rifled tube having different rib height and width were used to examine the effects of rib geometry and compare with the smooth tube, using a mass flux of 70–800 kg/m2 s and a pressure of 13–24 bar (corresponding to an approximate water pressure of 80–140 bar). Wall temperature distribution in all tubes was strongly dependent on pressure and mass flux. Wall temperatures of the rifled tubes in the post-dryout region were much lower than for the smooth tube at same conditions. This was attributed to swirl flow caused by the rib. Thus, the thermal non-equilibrium, which is usually present in the post-dryout region, was lowered. The empirical correlation of heat transfer in the smooth tube of the post-dryout region was obtained. The heat transfer correlation for rifled tubes was also obtained as a function of rib height and width with the modification of the smooth tube correlation.  相似文献

An experiment is carried out here to investigate the characteristics of the evaporation heat transfer for refrigerants R-134a and R-407C flowing in horizontal small tubes having the same inside diameter of 0.83 or 2.0 mm. In the experiment for the 2.0-mm tubes, the refrigerant mass flux G is varied from 200 to 400 kg/m2 s, imposed heat flux q from 5 to 15 kW/m2, inlet vapor quality xin from 0.2 to 0.8 and refrigerant saturation temperature Tsat from 5 to 15 °C. While for the 0.83-mm tubes, G is varied from 800 to 1500 kg/m2 s with the other parameters varied in the same ranges as those for Di = 2.0 mm. In the study the effects of the refrigerant vapor quality, mass flux, saturation temperature and imposed heat flux on the measured evaporation heat transfer coefficient hr are examined in detail. The experimental data clearly show that both the R-134a and R-407C evaporation heat transfer coefficients increase almost linearly and significantly with the vapor quality of the refrigerant, except at low mass flux and high heat flux. Besides, the evaporation heat transfer coefficients also increase substantially with the rises in the imposed heat flux, refrigerant mass flux and saturation temperature. At low R-134a mass flux and high imposed heat flux the evaporation heat transfer coefficient in the smaller tubes (Di = 0.83 mm) may decline at increasing vapor quality when the quality is high, due to the partial dryout of the refrigerant flow in the smaller tubes at these conditions. We also note that under the same xin, Tsat, G, q and Di, refrigerant R-407C has a higher hr when compared with that for R-134a. Finally, an empirical correlation for the R-134a and R-407C evaporation heat transfer coefficients in the small tubes is proposed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The present study investigated the evaporation heat transfer coefficients of R-446A, as a low global warming potential alternative refrigerant to R-410A. The evaporation heat transfer coefficients were obtained by measuring the wall temperature of a straight stainless tube and refrigerant pressure. The heat transfer coefficients were measured for the quality range from 0.05 to 0.95, the mass flux from 100 to 400 kg/m2s, heat flux from 10 to 30 kW/m2, and saturation temperature from 5 to 10°C. The evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-410A was verified by comparing the measured evaporation heat transfer coefficient with the value predicted by the existing correlation. The evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-446A was measured using a proven experimental apparatus. When the heat flux was 10 kW/m2, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-446A was always higher than that of R-410A. But, when the heat flux was 30 kW/m2, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient of R-446A was measured to be lower than that of R-410A near the dry-out point. The effect of the tube diameter on the R-446A evaporation heat transfer coefficient was negligible. The effect of saturation pressure on the evaporation heat transfer coefficient was prominent in the low quality region where the nucleate boiling was dominant.  相似文献

Saturated flow boiling heat transfer and the associated frictional pressure drop of the ozone friendly refrigerant R-410A (a mixture of 50 wt% R-32 and 50 wt% R-125) flowing in a vertical plate heat exchanger (PHE) are investigated experimentally in the study. In the experiment two vertical counter flow channels are formed in the exchanger by three plates of commercial geometry with a corrugated sinusoidal shape of a chevron angle of 60°. Upflow boiling of saturated refrigerant R-410A in one channel receives heat from the downflow of hot water in the other channel. The experimental parameters in this study include the refrigerant R-410A mass flux ranging from 50 to 125 kg/m2 s and imposed heat flux from 5 to 35 kW/m2 for the system pressure fixed at 1.08, 1.25 and 1.44 MPa, which respectively correspond to the saturated temperatures of 10, 15 and 20 °C. The measured data showed that both the boiling heat transfer coefficient and frictional pressure drop increase almost linearly with the imposed heat flux. Furthermore, the refrigerant mass flux exhibits significant effect on the saturated flow boiling heat transfer coefficient only at higher imposed heat flux. For a rise of the refrigerant pressure from 1.08 to 1.44 MPa, the frictional pressure drops are found to be lower to a noticeable degree. However, the refrigerant pressure has very slight influences on the saturated flow boiling heat transfer coefficient. Finally, empirical correlations are proposed to correlate the present data for the saturated boiling heat transfer coefficients and friction factor in terms of the Boiling number and equivalent Reynolds number.  相似文献

In this paper an experimental study of convective boiling heat transfer of R-600a/oil/nanoparticle mixtures is investigated. The experimental setup was prepared with a smooth horizontal tube as a test section with the length and diameter of 9.5 and 103 mm, respectively, and pure R-600a was applied for evaluating the heat transfer enhancement. Six mixtures containing 1% weight fraction of R-600a/oil with different concentrations of CuO nanoparticles including 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 5.0% weight fraction of R-600a/oil/nanoparticle were used in our study. The mass velocity per cross area was considered at the range of 50–700 kg/m2 s for low vapor quality (ϕ < 0.25). The results showed that the convective boiling heat transfer coefficient will be increased by increasing the mass fraction of nanoparticles up to 2%, while by increasing the mass fraction of nanoparticles up to 5% the heat transfer coefficient will be reduced.  相似文献

This paper presents an improved flow pattern map for predicting the heat transfer coefficients during condensation of R-134a inside a smooth horizontal tube. Experimental tests were conducted over the low-mass flux range of 75–300 kg/m2 s, at a nominal saturation temperature of 40 °C, and with the test section vapour qualities ranging from 0.76 down to 0.03. This represents points within the annular, intermittent and stratified flow regimes. The results were used to modify the Thome–El Hajal flow pattern map to include a transition region between the stratified-wavy and annular or intermittent flow regimes. The revised flow pattern-based heat transfer correlation predicted the experimental data to a mean deviation of less than 6%.  相似文献

In this study, pool boiling test results are provided for the structured enhanced tubes having pores with connecting gaps. The surface geometry of the present tube is similar to that of Turbo-B. Three tubes with different pore size (0.20 mm, 0.23 mm and 0.27 mm) were manufactured and tested using R-11, R-123 and R-134a. The pore size which yields the maximum heat transfer coefficient varied depending on the refrigerant. For R-134a, the maximum heat transfer coefficient was obtained for the tube having 0.27 mm pore size. For R-11 and R-123, the optimum pore size was 0.23 mm. One novel feature of the present tubes is that their boiling curves do not show a ‘cross-over’ characteristic, which existing pored tubes do. The connecting gaps of the present tube are believed to serve an additional route for the liquid supply and delay the dry-out of the tunnel. The present tubes yield the heat transfer coefficients approximately equal to those of the existing pored enhanced tubes. At the heat flux 40 kW/m2 and saturation temperature 4.4° C, the heat transfer coefficients of the present tubes are 6.5 times larger for R-11, 6.0 times larger for R-123 and 5.0 times larger for R-134a than that of the smooth tube  相似文献

The past decade has seen the rapid development of nanofluids science in many aspects. In recent years, refrigerant-based nanofluids have been introduced as nanorefrigerants due to their significant effects over heat transfer performance. This study investigates the thermophysical properties, pressure drop and heat transfer performance of Al2O3 nanoparticles suspended in 1, 1, 1, 2-tetrafluoroethane (R-134a). Suitable models from existing studies have been used to determine the thermal conductivity and viscosity of the nanorefrigerants for the nanoparticle concentrations of 1 to 5 vol.%. The pressure drop, pumping power and heat transfer coefficients of nanorefrigerant in a horizontal smooth tube have also been investigated with the same particle concentration at constant velocity of 5 m/s and uniform mass flux of 100 kg/m2 s. In this study, the thermal conductivity of Al2O3/R-134a nanorefrigerant increased with the augmentation of particle concentration and temperature however, decreased with particle size intensification. In addition, the results of viscosity, pressure drop, and heat transfer coefficients of the nanorefrigerant show a significant increment with the increase of volume fractions. Therefore, optimal particle volume fraction is important to be considered in producing nanorefrigerants that can enhance the performance of refrigeration systems.  相似文献

An experimental study of the critical heat flux (CHF) using R-134a in uniformly heated vertical tube was performed and 182 CHF data points were obtained from the present work to investigate the CHF characteristics of R-134a. The investigated flow parameters in R-134a were: (1) outlet pressures of 13, 16.5, 23.9 bar, (2) mass fluxes of 285-1300 kg/m2 s, (3) subcooling temperatures of 5-40 °C. The CHF tests were performed in a 17.04 mm I.D. test section with heated length of 3 m. The parametric trends of CHF show a general agreement with previous understanding in the water. To assess the suitability of the CHF test using R-134a for modeling the CHF in water, Bowring correlation and Katto correlation were used in the present investigation. It was found that the present test results coincided well with the data predicted with both correlations. It demonstrates that the R-134a can be used as the CHF modeling fluid of water for the investigated flow conditions and geometric condition.  相似文献

The current paper presents experimental investigation of nucleate pool boiling of R-134a and R-123 on enhanced and smooth tubes. The enhanced tubes used were TBIIHP and TBIILP for R-134a and R-123, respectively. Pool boiling data were taken for smooth and enhanced tubes in a single tube test section. Data were taken at a saturation temperature of 4.44 °C. Each test tube had an outside diameter of 19.05 mm and a length of 1 m. The test section was water heated with an insert in the water passage. The insert allowed measurement of local water temperatures down the length of the test tube. Utilizing this instrumentation, local heat transfer coefficients were determined at five locations along the test tube. The heat flux range was 2.5–157.5 kW/m2 for the TBIIHP tube and 3.1–73.2 kW/m2 for the TBIILP tube. The resulting heat transfer coefficient range was 4146–23255 W/m2. °C and 5331–25950 W/m2. °C for both tubes, respectively. For smooth tube testing, the heat flux ranges were 7.3–130.7 kW/m2 and 7.5–60.7 kW/m2 for R-134a and R-123, respectively; with resulting heat transfer coefficient ranges of 1798.9–11,379 W/m2. °C and 535.4–3181.8 W/m2. °C. The study provided one of the widest heat flux ranges ever examined for these types of tubes and showed significant structure to the pool boiling curve that had not been traditionally observed. Additionally, this paper presented an investigation of enhanced tubes pool boiling models.  相似文献

The boiling heat transfer of refrigerant R-134a flow in horizontal small-diameter tubes with inner diameter of 0.51, 1.12, and 3.1 mm was experimentally investigated. Local heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop were measured for a heat flux ranging from 5 to 39 kW/m2, mass flux from 150 to 450 kg/m2 s, evaporating temperature from 278.15 to 288.15 K, and inlet vapor quality from 0 to 0.2. Flow patterns were observed by using a high-speed video camera through a sight glass at the entrance of an evaporator. Results showed that with decreasing tube diameter, the local heat transfer coefficient starts decreasing at lower vapor quality. Although the effect of mass flux on the local heat transfer coefficient decreased with decreasing tube diameter, the effect of heat flux was strong in all three tubes. The measured pressure drop for the 3.1-mm-ID tube agreed well with that predicted by the Lockhart–Martinelli correlation, but when the inner tube diameter was 0.51 mm, the measured pressure drop agreed well with that predicted by the homogenous pressure drop model. With decreasing tube diameter, the flow inside a tube approached homogeneous flow. The contribution of forced convective evaporation to the boiling heat transfer decreases with decreasing the inner tube diameter.  相似文献

This paper reports a study of heat transfer in the post-critical heat flux (post-CHF) regime under forced convective upflow conditions in a uniformly heated vertical tube of 12.7 mm internal diameter and 3 m length. Experiments were conducted with non-azeotropic ternary refrigerant mixture R-407C for reduced pressures ranging from 0.37 to 0.75, mass flux values from 1200 to 2000 kg/m2 s and heat flux from 50 to 80 kW/m2. Data shows a considerable effect of system pressure on the post-CHF heat transfer coefficient for specified mass and heat fluxes. The post-CHF heat transfer coefficients for R-407C are compared with three existing correlations which are found to over predict the current data. A modified correlation to represent the experimental data for R-407C is presented.  相似文献

An experimental investigation has been carried out to study the effect of twisted tape inserts on heat transfer enhancement and pressure drop in a horizontal tube during swirl flow boiling of R-134a. The test-evaporator was an electrically heated horizontal copper tube and twisted tapes with different twist ratios of 6, 9, 12 and 15 were inserted one by one. The data were acquired at the refrigerant mass velocities of 54, 86, 114 and 136 kg/s m2. The twisted tape inserts increases the boiling heat transfer coefficients and the pressure drop across the test-evaporator. An empirical correlation has also been developed to predict the swirl flow pressure drop in the test-evaporator.  相似文献

Flow boiling heat transfer of R-134a refrigerant in a circular mini-channel, 600 mm long with a diameter of 1.75 mm, is investigated experimentally in this study. The test section is a stainless steel tube placed horizontally. Flow pattern and heat transfer coefficient data are obtained for a mass flux range of 200–1000 kg/m2 s, a heat flux range of 1–83 kW/m2 and saturation pressures of 8, 10, and 13 bar. Five different flow patterns including slug flow, throat-annular flow, churn flow, annular flow and annular-rivulet flow are observed and the heat transfer coefficient data for different flow patterns are presented. The heat transfer coefficient increases with increasing heat flux but is mostly independent of mass flux and vapour quality. In addition, it is indicated from the experiments that the higher the saturation pressure, the lower is the heat transfer coefficient. Comparisons of the present data with the existing correlations are also presented.  相似文献

An experimental test rig for study on the pooling-boiling heat transfer performance of pure and mixed refrigerants were designed and established. With this test system, the heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of the nucleate boiling on a smooth flat surface were measured for pure fluids of HFC134a, HC290, HC600a and their binary and ternary mixtures. Extensive experimental measures were made for those pure and mixed refrigerants at different heat fluxes from 10 kW m−2 to 300 kW m−2 and different pressures from 0.2 to 0.6 MPa. Comprehensive measured data are presented in this paper. From experimental results, these binary mixtures and ternary mixtures show different heat transfer features according to their vapor–liquid phase equilibria behaviors. New heat transfer correlations were regressed from the measured data with average deviations within ±15% for pure refrigerants and within ±20% for mixtures.  相似文献

An experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop for refrigerant R-134a flowing in a horizontal small circular pipe having an inside diameter of 2.0 mm. The data are useful in designing more compact and effective evaporators for various refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The effects of the imposed wall heat flux, mass flux, vapor quality and saturation temperature of R-134a on the measured evaporation heat transfer and pressure drop were examined in detail. When compared with the data for larger pipes (Di ≥ 8.0 mm) reported in the literature, the evaporation heat transfer coefficient for the small pipe considered here is about 30–80% higher for most situations. Moreover, we noted that in the small pipe the evaporation heat transfer coefficient is higher at a higher imposed wall heat flux except in the high vapor quality region, at a higher saturation temperature, and at a higher mass flux when the imposed heat flux is low. In addition, the measured pressure drop is higher for increases in the mass flux and imposed wall heat flux. Based on the present data, empirical correlations were proposed for the evaporation heat transfer coefficients and friction factors.  相似文献
