Cisco与航天计算机集团签订合作协议并宣布将耗资2.2亿美元收购Granite Systems

全球最大的计算机网络产品供应商美国Cisco公司10月10日与航天计算机集团公司签订合作协议。根据协议,航天计算帆集团公司网络系统部将作为Cisco的系统集成商,与Cisco公司在政府部门、航天系统、银行金融业等领域进行合作,共同为推广网络系统在中国的应用、开拓中国市场而努力。

基于思科模拟器的静态路由实验

静态路由实验是网络实验教学的重要内容之一,掌握路由器的基本配置之后,就可以开始静态路由的学习,追踪数据包的流动,定义数据包的传输路径。本实验采用Cisco Packet Tracer模拟器实现,给出了设备配置方法,并对结果进行了验证。通过该实验,学生对静态路由和ICMP协议加深了理解。     

RCM: A User Friendly Router Configuration Machine

In this paper a router configuration machine for Cisco routers using GUI is presented. It is developed using Visual C# .NET programming, in which the interface provides GUI platforms for various types of configuration for entire series of Cisco routers. It communicates with the Cisco Internetwork Operating System to configure the router. It includes the configuration for all interior routing protocols and all types of most common used tools. The developed system is implemented on different series of Cisco routers and it worked successfully. It is observed that it eliminates the traditional use of command line interface for configuration of Cisco routers. The router configuration machine is such an idea which never existed before in such an easy level. The machine will be a perfect tool for anyone using a router. The machine also allows for real-time monitoring of network devices and constant performance checking. By providing embedded network intelligence at the network device level, the networks can monitor themselves and adapt to changing topologies, without the need of costly external mechanisms. This machine will also be useful for academic purposes and we can use this machine in any Communication Lab.     

A data-collection strategy for usability tests

Because usability data can be expensive to collect and analyze, it is important that you collect the data you need to answer the usability test-questions. The article describes a two-part strategy to help with this aspect of a usability study. The first part of the strategy is to investigate the questions the product team has about its product and turn these questions into well-defined usability questions. The second part is to take those usability questions and develop a data crosswalk, a framework that gives you a systematic way to decide what specific evidence you need to answer the test questions, and what data you need to collect to get that evidence     

Huawei-Cisco tests China's respect for property rights

It's been more than a year since China gained entry into the World Trade Organization (Geneva), and now the question is whether its leadership will put its mouth (and muscle) where its money is and enforce rules against piracy of intellectual property. In markets for high-tech hardware, respect for intellectual property may be slowly growing. Foreign companies and organizations like the Business Software Alliance (Washington, DC) campaign relentlessly against white-collar piracy. On this front, the most closely watched case is the one launched earlier this year in the United States by Cisco Systems Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) against a Chinese rival manufacturer of Internet routing equipment, Huawei (pronounced Hwa-way) Technologies Co. Cisco alleges that Huawei illegally copied and misappropriated software associated with Cisco networking equipment, including source code and user manuals, and infringed several Cisco patents. After months of denying any wrongdoing, Huawei admitted that an employee had copied 2 percent of the router operating software from Cisco but insisted that the company didn't know of the violation. Cisco's goal is simply to get Huawei to stop its "unlawful copying" of Cisco's intellectual property. The outcome of this court battle could have wide ramifications.
