The present study examines humor styles of cyberbullying perpetrations. Turkish adolescents (N = 489) aged 15–18 years were recruited from different high school types. Participants completed the Revised Cyberbullying Inventory (RCBI, Topçu and Baker, 2010) and Humor Styles Questionnaire (HSQ, Martin, Puhlik-Doris, Larsen, Gray, & Weir, 2003) Collected data were analyzed Pearson correlation coefficients and standart multiple regression. Maladaptive humor styles namely aggressive humor (r = 0.349, p < 0.05) and self-defeating humor (r = 0.138, p < 0.01) significantly correlated cyberbullying perpetrations. Also standard multiple regressions revealed that aggressive humor was a significant individual predictors of cyberbullying perpetration such that as agressive humor decreases, likelihood of cyberbullying perpetration increases. These results indicate that maladaptive humor styles (aggressive humor and self-defeating humor) may successfully address cyberbullying behaviour.  相似文献

Perrow’s normal accident theory suggests that some major accidents are inevitable for technological reasons. An alternative approach explains major accidents as resulting from management failures, particularly in relation to the communication of information. This latter theory has been shown to be applicable to a wide variety of disasters. By contrast, Perrow’s theory seems to be applicable to relatively few accidents, the exemplar case being the Three Mile Island nuclear power station accident in the U.S. in 1979. This article re‐examines Three Mile Island. It shows that this was not a normal accident in Perrow’s sense and is readily explicable in terms of management failures. The article also notes that Perrow’s theory is motivated by a desire to shift blame away from front line operators and that the alternative approach does this equally well.  相似文献

“Deal of the Day” (DoD) platforms have quickly become popular by offering savings on local services, products and vacations. For merchants, these platforms represent a new marketing channel to advertise their products and services and attract new customers. DoD platform providers, however, struggle to maintaining a stable market share and profitability, because entry and switching costs are low. To sustain a competitive market position, DoD providers are looking for ways to build a loyal customer base. However, research examining the determinants of user loyalty in this novel context is scarce. To fill this gap, this study employs Grounded Theory methodology to develop a conceptual model of customer loyalty to a DoD provider. In the next step, qualitative insights are enriched and validated using quantitative data obtained in a survey with 202 DoD users. We find that customer loyalty is in large part driven by monetary incentives, but can be eroded if impressions from merchant encounter are below expectations. In addition, enhancing the share of deals relevant for consumers, i.e. signal-to-noise ratio, and mitigating perceived risks of a transaction emerge as challenges. Beyond theoretical value, our results offer practical insights into how customer loyalty to a DoD provider can be promoted.  相似文献

In 1984, Charles Perrow released the landmark book Normal Accident (NA), in which he argued the inevitability of accidents in certain types of high‐risk systems.The aim of this article is to reconsider the book, 30 years after its publication, and offer a new interpretation of its points. The message of the book seems as compelling as ever today: Accidents and catastrophes have continued to occur over the last three decades. However, the technological determinism of the book has been criticized and shown to be too restricted to account for the social nature of the phenomena. This article uncovers and highlights a second underlying message of the book which could arguably be the book's most valuable and compelling contribution.  相似文献
