Abstract

In recent years, many visual secret sharing technologies have been proposed to protect the security of secret images (black and white, grey scale or colour images). In 2005, Lukac and Plataniotis used the concept of the Naor–Shamir method to propose a visual secret sharing technology for sharing secret grey-scale images based on bit-plane decomposition. Although their method can avoid pixel-value cutting problem, it still suffers from the pixel expansion problem. In this paper, we propose a new secret grey-scale image sharing method to improve this situation. In the proposed sharing image creation phase, two sharing images (one is grey-scale and the other is binary) are created and later shared by two protectors. The original secret image can be easily reconstructed if both sharing images are obtained. However, one cannot obtain the original secret image from each of the sharing images. Experimental results also show that the proposed method can effectively solve the pixel expansion problem.  相似文献

Visual cryptographic scheme is specially designed for secret image sharing in the form of shadow images. The basic idea of visual cryptography is to construct two or more secret shares from the original image in the form of chaotic image. In this paper, a novel secret image communication scheme based on visual cryptography and Tetrolet tiling patterns is proposed. The proposed image communication scheme will break the secret image into more shadow images based on the Tetrolet tiling patterns. The secret image is divided into 4×4 blocks of tetrominoes and employs the concept of visual cryptography to hide the secret image. The main feature of the proposed scheme is the selection of random blocks to apply the tetrolet tilling patterns from the fundamental tetrolet pattern board. Single procedure is used to perform both tetrolet transform and the scheme of visual cryptography. Finally, the experimental results showcase the proposed scheme is an extraordinary approach to transfer the secret image and reconstruct the secret image with high visual quality in the receiver end.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper proposes a new colour image retrieval scheme using Z-scanning technique for content-based image retrieval (CBIR). In recent years, the CBIR is a popular research topic for image retrieval. This paper proposes a scheme which employs the Z-scanning technique to extract directional intensity features for measuring the similarity between query and database images. In the multiple channel images, each colour channel can be processed individually or combined into a grey channel Y. In order to extract the features by Z-scanning technique from all images, each channel of all images must be divided into several N×N blocks. In each block, F pairs of pixels are scanned by a ‘Z’ direction to obtain the texture features. Each colour channel can be obtained an M×M Z-scanning co-occurrence matrix (ZSCM) for storing the probability of each relationship of all closest blocks. At the similarity measure stage, the ZSCMs of query image and database images are compared to measure their similarity. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme is beneficial for image retrieval when the images include the same texture or object. On the other hand, the proposed scheme also can get better retrieval results and more efficiency than colour correlogram (CC) technique for colour texture images. Another technique uses motif co-occurrence matrix (MCM) as the feature in similarity measurement. The experimental results show the proposed ZSCM can get better retrieval results and higher recall and precision values than the CC and MCM techniques for public image databases.  相似文献

Visual cryptography scheme (VCS) is a kind of secret-sharing scheme which allows the encryption of a secret image into n shares that are distributed to n participants. The beauty of such a scheme is that, the decryption of the secret image requires neither the knowledge of cryptography nor complex computation. Colour visual cryptography becomes an interesting research topic after the formal introduction of visual cryptography by Naor and Shamir in 1995. The authors propose a colour (k, n)-VCS under the visual cryptography model of Naor and Shamir with no pixel expansion, and a colour (k, n)-extended visual cryptography scheme ((k, n)-EVCS) under the visual cryptography model of Naor and Shamir with pixel expansion the same as that of its corresponding black and white (k, n)-EVCS. Furthermore, the authors propose a black and white (k, n)-VCS and a black and white (k, n)-EVCS under the visual cryptography model of Tuyls. Based on the black and white schemes, the authors propose a colour (k, n)-VCS and a colour (k, n)-EVCS under the same visual cryptography model, of which the pixel expansions are the same as that of their corresponding black and white (k, n)-VCS and (k, n)-EVCS, respectively. The authors also give the experimental results of the proposed schemes, and compare the proposed scheme with known schemes in the literature.  相似文献

Steganography is the technique for hiding information within a carrier file so that it is imperceptible for unauthorized parties. In this study, it is intended to combine many techniques to gather a new method for colour image steganography to obtain enhanced efficiency, attain increased payload capacity, posses integrity check and security with cryptography at the same time. Proposed work supports many different formats as payload. In the proposed method, the codeword is firstly formed with secret data and its CRC-32 checksum, then the codeword is compressed by Gzip just before encrypting it by AES, and it is finally added to encrypted header information for further process and then embedded into the cover image. Embedding the encrypted data and header information process utilizes Fisher-Yates Shuffle algorithm for selecting next pixel location. To hide one byte, different LSB (least significant bits) of all colour channels of the selected pixel is exploited. In order to evaluate the proposed method, comparative performance tests are carried out against different spatial image steganographic techniques using some of the well-known image quality metrics. For security analysis, histogram, enhanced LSB and Chi-square analyses are carried out. The results indicate that with the proposed method has an improved payload capacity, security and integrity check for common problems of simple LSB method. Moreover, it has been shown that the proposed method increases the visual quality of the stego image when compared to other studied methods, and makes the secret message difficult to be discovered.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

In idealized secret image sharing (SIS), all of the shared images (shadows) play the same role, but in real life, the shared images are often hierarchical. This paper proposes a hierarchical secret image sharing (HSIS) method by means of optical imaging. To implement the scheme, a generalized single-phase modulation algorithm is proposed in Fresnel transform domain. Its features that multiple secret images can be recovered through combination of some shared images though each participant only holds one share of images. Theoretically, the secret images are divided into multiple phase encodings (shared images) by phase modulation, each secret image can be directly captured by the intensity detector when illuminating some of the shared images orderly displayed with parallel light. Experimental simulation shows that the shared images and the restored secret images do not have any size distortion, and further verifies the feasibility of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Blue–green colour cast effect and low contrast are common problems suffered by deep underwater images. This paper introduces a new method which consists of two major steps: red channel correction based on green and blue channels (RCCGB), and simultaneous contrast stretching and mean pixel enhancement (SCSMPE). The RCCGB is designed to minimize the effect of blue–green illumination. This step considers the differences between the red channel and other channels in terms of total pixel values. The second major step, SCSMPE is specifically designed to perform contrast stretching and improve the mean pixel value simultaneously through particle swarm optimization (PSO). Based on the visual observation, the proposed method significantly reduces the effect of the blue–green colour cast and improves the image contrast. Furthermore, the average quantitative values for 300 underwater images also demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method.  相似文献

Abstract

Colour can provide critical information for a variety of computer vision tasks such as image matching, object recognition and image retrieval. However, for it to be useful in practice, the colour model used to represent the intrinsic properties of the imaged objects must be insensitive of imaging conditions such as lighting geometry, illumination colour and highlights. In this paper, we present a colour model for image matching and object recognition that is invariant for illumination and highlights. The colour model is defined as the ratios of the colour differences between neighbouring pixels for each colour component. Based on the dichromatic reflection colour model, it is shown that the proposed colour model is invariant to lighting geometry, illumination colour, highlights and diffuse lighting. Experimental results show robust image matching using the proposed colour model on objects that are illuminated under different illumination colours and lighting geometry. The proposed colour model can be used as a prepossessing step for applications where limited or no constraints on the imaging process can be imposed.  相似文献

Colour detection plays an important role for many computer vision-based applications. However, most existing colour detection methods tend to be environment dependent since slight changes of environmental factors such as illumination or shadowing effects could greatly reduce their performances. In this paper, a new colour model is introduced to allow enhanced colour detection from images, even with significantly different lighting conditions and image qualities. The proposed colour model is called the HPBr colour model. It is converted from the RGB colour model and it consists of three colour components, namely, hue (H), purity (P) and brightness (Br). This colour model can be represented in three different geometric shapes: diamond, sphere and cylinder. To assess the effectiveness of the model, two different colour detection methods have been applied onto benchmark images. Experimental results from both methods confirmed that the proposed colour model produced the best colour detection results among existing models.  相似文献

In a (k, n) visual cryptographic scheme (VCS), a secret image is encrypted into n shadow images in such way that any k or more shadows can be superimposed to visually decode the secret, and less than k shadows cannot obtain any information on the secret image. Most VCSs only share one secret image. A (k, n, s) multi-secret VCS (MVCS) is a (k, n)-VCS, which can share s secret images. Recently, Chen et al. introduced a novel (2, 2, 4)-MVCS. However, their scheme is insecure. The threshold property of Chen et al.’s (2, 2, 4)-MVCS is compromised. In this paper, we show how an attacker retrieves the secret information of Chen et al.’s (2, 2, 4)-MVCS from one shadow image.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach for improving the contrast of digital colour images in extreme lighting environment. The concept of information sets that are derived from fuzzy sets is applied for this purpose. The S and V components of the HSV (hue, saturation, value) colour model are fuzzified using Gaussian and triangular membership functions but H is preserved. Objective measures like contrast information, quality and visual factor (Vf) are defined to represent the image characteristics. A new entropy function and Vf are used to form the objective function which is optimised using particle swarm optimisation to learn the image-specific parameters required for the enhancement. These new measures defined here serve to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. In addition to preserving the colour and specific image features, the subjective and objective evaluations clearly depict the improvement in the quality of both the underexposed and overexposed images. On comparison, it is found that the proposed technique outperforms the existing techniques in terms of entropy, information measure and mean opinion score.  相似文献

Abstract

Mode filters are less well known than median filters: this is because they are more difficult to implement, and their detailed specification turns out to be less straightforward. However, early success using the 'truncated median filter' implementation suggested that further investigation of their performance would be worthwhile. In particular, performance with colour images was a vital concern which needed to be addressed. In addition, there were questions about the shape and size distortions that this type of filter might be subject to. All these aspects are covered in the present paper. On the one hand, it is shown that performance with colour images is impressive, not merely with regard to the earlier image enhancement application but also for the purpose of noise elimination. On the other hand, the edge shifting properties of this type of filter are similar to those of the median filter, and the mode filter offers no particular advantage in this respect.  相似文献

Abstract

Furniture glass tiles are increasingly used for covering walls and facades or for conferring fashionable aesthetical properties to buildings. Companies that produce furniture glass tiles of a desired colour are devoted to performing a colour comparison between the manufactured glass tiles and the ones desired by a customer, or provided by a catalogue. Still today, such a comparison, known as ‘colour matching’, is mainly performed by company experts by means of a visual inspection, thus leading to a subjective and qualitative colour assessment. A number of methods for colour matching have been afforded in the literature in several industrial fields such as textile, plastics or food; unfortunately, to the best of author’s knowledge, no practical method for glass tiles colour matching has been devised until today. The present work provides an image processing-based method capable of carrying out non-patterned glass tiles colour matching. The method is devised using an appositely developed hardware so as to extract a series of statistical data from scanned images of 10 mm sized glass tiles and, on the basis of the definition of two novel colour distance formulas, endows with colour matching. The achieved colour matching performance agrees in 91% of tests with expert-performed colour classification. The provided formulas are meant to be of general usage for assessing glass tiles colour matching.  相似文献

Abstract

An image watermarking model based on visual secret sharing (VSS) is proposed for protection of ownership. In the embedding phase, the watermark is first divided by VSS into two parts: a hiding watermark and a secret watermark. Then only the hiding watermark is embedded into the original image and the secret watermark is reserved for watermark extracting by the owner. In the extracting phase, the hiding watermark is extracted from the watermarked image first and then directly superimposed on the secret watermark to recover the watermark information.  相似文献

Abstract

Dual image based reversible data hidings are recently proposed where dual copies of a cover image are used to embed the secret data. In this paper, a novel reversible data hiding method based on neighbouring pixel value differencing is proposed to increase embedding capacity with a good image quality. The mean value of neighbouring pixels and the difference values are used to decide the size of embedding bits per the sub-block. The receiver can extract the secret data and recover the cover image from dual stegoimages. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a higher capacity and still a good image quality where it could embed 767,922 bits and maintain 45.58 and 45.33?dB for dual images.  相似文献

An improvement in the existing weighted grey-edge (GE) framework for colour constancy is proposed. The acquired images are denoised by vector filtering and then, a two-step colour correction process is performed. In the first step, the GE method is used for estimating the global illuminant and perform the initial level of colour correction. The computed illuminant as well as the initial corrected image are used in the second step, which employs the weighted GE method to iteratively compute the final illuminant for obtaining the final colour corrected image. One hundred sixty-five standard test images from a publicly available colour constancy dataset were used to study the efficacy of the proposed algorithm. The results obtained indicate a significant improvement in the colour correction process as compared to the state-of-the-art colour constancy methods. The proposed algorithm reduced the mean angular error by approximately 67.85% compared to the existing weighted GE method.  相似文献

Abstract

A predictive colour image compression scheme based on absolute moment block truncation coding is proposed. In this scheme, the high correlations among neighbouring image blocks are exploited by using the similar block prediction technique. In addition, the bit plane omission technique and the coding of quantisation levels are used to cut down the storage cost of smooth blocks and complex blocks respectively. According to the experimental results, the proposed scheme provides better performance than the comparative schemes based on block truncation coding. It provides better image qualities of compressed images at low bit rates. Meanwhile, it consumes very little computational cost. In other words, the proposed scheme is quite suitable for real time multimedia applications.  相似文献

Abstract

A multiple-image encryption (MIE) scheme with a single-pixel detector has been proposed according to the principle of ghost imaging. In this scheme, each of the spatially coherent laser beams is modified by a set of phase-mask keys and illuminates on a secret image. All of the transmitted lights are recorded together by a single-pixel (bucket) detector to obtain a ciphertext, but anyone of the secret images can be decrypted from the ciphertext independently without any mutually overlapped despite some noise in them. The MIE scheme will bring convenience for data storage and transmission, especially in the case that different secret images need to be distributed to different authorized users, because the ciphertext is a real-valued function and this scheme can effectively avoid the secret images being extracted mutually. The basic principle of the MIE scheme is described theoretically and verified by computer simulations. Finally, the feasibility, robustness and encryption capacity are also tested numerically.  相似文献
